I was skeptical of dropping off my wedding dress because alteration places can be a hit or miss . This place was recommended by a friend so I decided to give a shot . I was happy with the end result ! I also need an Indian blouse to be let in for my saree . I wasn't sure if that could be done but they did a good job with it too ! 10/5 stars. I was walking to the door from the parking lot and the man behind the counter ran over to the door when he saw me far away and opened the door for us. He went out of his way and was so nice and friendly. He made a sweet joke about my baby needing alterations and then pulled out a chair for him while I got my pants tailored. I had the waist taken in on a pair of jeans and it was about $25, altered perfectly, and ready within the week. It was such a nice exchange and great, easy experience. Each time I drop off my items and pay, I always receive a call later stating that they made a mistake and will need to charge additional $ for my items. My daughter took her prom dress there to have a hem done, very basic straight hem, one layer black stretch fabric and a hook and eye put in at top of zipper. Paid $45 (prepay, not after work is done) and picked up dress and no hook and eye on dress. They took nearly three weeks to do half of what we paid for. I do not have time to take off work to go back in prior to prom to have work done correctly. Additionally the male worker took my ticket and receipt when I picked up the dress and did not give it back to me but kept it in his hand and walked away from me after he handed me the dress. So I have zero proof of what we paid for. read more

We have used Kim's for many years. The work that has been done for me has always been exceptional. We recently moved to Westfield from Carmel and Kim's found a new location from N Rangeline to 116 th St and Main also located in Carmel. I've tried a few places closer to where we live now and services have just been ok. I am giving them a 1-star because the first and only time I went there, I brought two items: a purse with a bad zipper and a coat with a tear alongside the right pocket. They charged me $25 to "fix" the zipper on the spot and told me to "open it gently". It does not work at all, so that was $25 wasted. The coat was fixed and picked up in a couple of weeks for $40. Within one month it tore in the exact same place and when I called asking them to repair it again they were going to charge me again. Very bad customer service I told him, and he hung up on me. read more

Amazing! My wedding by day was perfect and my dress fit beautifully. Kim was so professional and helpful she gave great suggestions helped me pick how my dress would be bustled and showed my maid of honor how to assemble the bustle. My dress had a super long train and it was hard to find a shop that could alter it. I had the dress taken in, the straps shortened, that bust taken in, and all 6 layers of the dress hemmed. It was a very easy process and she was great about getting me the dress with plenty of time before my wedding day. I found her through online reviews and now I'm leaving one to tell you that if you're not sure where to take your wedding gown, this is the place! read more

I asked for a quote to see how much my bridesmaid dress would be -shoulders brought in -waist slightly brought in -possibly hemmed an inch This would be $190!!! So I found somewhere else (much cheaper) and asked for my dress back and a refund, since the sign they have says to pay up front. She said no problem but I still owed her then $25 just for the fitting?? It took less than 5 minutes for that and there was no sign saying this and she only mentioned this fee to me me after I asked for a refund. 0/10 will never be going back read more

I picked up a dress today that I will be wearing to my Granddaughter's wedding. I am not happy. The dress is a dark lavendar. The thread on the hem doesn't even match! It is GRAY. Not very happy. I have been going to them for 15 years; this was the first time at the new location, to take in my daughter's formal dress. For taking it in and hemming it, I paid $105. When she put it on the waist was too tight and she couldn't breathe. I asked if we could let it out (and I would have paid for that). The man kept saying that he didn't touch the waist and that it was good, not to let it out. I said that she's the one wearing the dress! And it's not true that they didn't touch the waist -- by taking in the sides TO the waist, the waist was tighter. He didn't offer to help fix the problem at all, even if I paid him for a second job. He just kept saying it was good. We left and drove 3 minutes away to Lucy's, who said she would absolutely let it out 1/2 inch on each side for $35 as soon as I'd like. I went to Kim's to alter my prom dress that was way too big in the arms and bust. She helped us right away making sure I was comfortable with each adjustment. Even when I made suggestions she was quick to meet my requests with no problem. Paying was straightforward and easy. Kim is the best! My husband lost a significant amount of weight over the course of 2 years (YAY for him!!) and had to periodically have suites and pants altered along the way. Kim always did a fantastic job and would let him know if it was time to replace rather than alter. I have also had her hem pants, adjust straps, add snaps/buttons and you can never even tell alterations had been done. Yes, she's that good. There are many alteration places closer to where we live, but none of them compare to Kim's. read more

Guess where I found out about Kim Alterations? Yelp, of course. ha I was in dire need of getting my bridesmaid dress altered and I needed to find a place to help me ... fast. My dress was too big, my dress was too long - the wedding is in Seattle. I needed things to be perfect. I stopped by this place after work one day and as soon as I walked in they pointed me to the dressing room to try on my dress. I then walked out and a woman measured me and quickly, very quickly, figured out what needed to be done. I'm telling you, the process was SO QUICK. She was like, "Ok, I'll see you on such and such date." And I left. Mind you, I was a little hesitant about how the outcome would be because she looked over my dress so fast - surely she was going to make some error? I picked up my dress a couple of days ago and it's perfect. Everything fits. It looks great. Very pleased! It was pretty affordable for what I had done. Now I can fly out to Seattle with my dress and not worry about it falling off of me on the dance floor. read more

While all of the associates at Kim's were helpful and friendly, I was disappointed with the fitting process and ultimately, the end result. During the initial fitting, my garments were pinned quickly, without careful precision. They eye-balled each piece, without taking measurements or notes. When I picked up my items a week later, the rushed fitting showed in the finished pieces. While my blazer was taken-in well, my two skirts and jumpsuit were not as good. Both skirts were altered incorrectly (were sewn into a trumpet shape instead of a column) and the ankles of my jumpsuit were shorter than we'd discussed and cut to flare out (again, in a trumpet shape). I spent $72 for all 4 pieces to be altered. The ladies were nice, but I was bummed with the finished product. I'm sure if I took my items back, they would fix them, but I'm not confident they would be able to do it correctly. read more

I took a dress to Kim's that was custom made for me in India for a wedding. When the dress arrived it was about 4 inches too long. The wedding was only a few days away and I needed it hemmed! I took my dress to Kim's and they did a GREAT job! They were able to hem the very difficult fabric in one day and it looked flawless! It surely wasn't cheap, but worth the price and the time it took! My first Yelp review! I found Kim's Alterations on Yelp, and after seeing an IRL friend's positive review, I thought I'd go ahead and check her out. I needed a pair of pants hemmed and a bridesmaid dress altered in all kinds of ways: strap shortened, bust re-shaped, waist let out. I went to pick the items up today and was just going to head out, but she prompted me to try the dress on first. I'm glad she did, because the bust had been let out just a bit too much. She pinned me back up and said it'd be done in two days. The best part, no extra charge! I'm sure that's standard practice that if they let something out too much or take it in too much there's no additional charge, but it just made me very happy as I was prepared to pay extra. I found her fairly affordable. If you're on the north side of town, I'd suggest going to Kim's to get your clothing altered! read more

I have used Kim's for about 10 years. I always have to have jeans hemmed and Kim's is the only place who can do it and make them look as the manufacturer intended. I've tried other places and had to bring them to Kim to be hemmed correctly! It costs $8.00 to have pants hemmed and it's well worth it. Her prices are a little lofty on formal dress alterations but she does a great job. She has even fixed couch pillows for my ex-husband, whose dog used to chew them open! About four months before my wedding I had taken my wedding dress to a friend of a friend. BIG mistake. A MONTH before my wedding nothing had been done, threading had been taken out, and there was a new stain on it. I was, needlessly to say, in a panic. Took my dress to Kim's Alterations and they set to work on looking it over and basically telling me that "it was messed up." However, the good news was that it could be fixed. I left it there and they said to come pick it up in three weeks. Picked it up today, and it is PERFECT. Everything is fixed, it was spot cleaned (they sent it out), pressed, and hanging up. Tried it on real quick, and it fit PERFECTLY. My wedding is in a little over a week, and I am so excited to be wearing this dress!!! I'm sure you're wondering the price. It was 150 to alter the dress (like I said, it was in a bad way) and 45 more to spot clean and press it. All I can say is that it was worth EVERY nickel. Buyers beware! I had an appointment so I sent my daughter and her friend to Kim's to have her PROM, not wedding, PROM dress shortened. I figured this would be easy and she could handle it. After all she is just having the length shortened. She comes home and said "mom, they did charge me before they would shorten it." I said, "ok how much do I own you?" She the precedes to make me have a heart attack by telling me ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!! I then thought maybe she read the receipt wrong. NOPE!! Why would she do this? Charge me 1/3 of what the cost of the dress was. I grabbed the car keys and the girls and drove over. Kim preceded to tell me it had to do with triple layers and the width. I called 3 other stores and they all said the most they have charged for shortening a PROM dress is $50. So, I took the dress and ran as fast as I can. I understand if you are refitting a wedding dress or taking in or letting something out but it is being SHORTENED by a few inches! What a scam. I think she saw two teens come in and went for it. She did refund my money and was not, nor was I, argumentative. i just don't have that kind of money to spend on shortening a PROM dress!! read more
