During my most recent visit, when I asked questions about services that had previously been provided without issue, the owner responded by telling me to 'go somewhere else.' I was surprised and disappointed by the tone and lack of willingness to discuss options. I don't know if I have ever been treated so poorly as a customer anywhere. My son is in a quinceañera coming up. We had a suit that needed to be altered. We did not choose this suit. The event hosts chose the suit for all of the boys to match, we were simply given a link and told to order and have it altered if necessary. I bought the smallest size available, but unfortunately it was still quite large on my son. We were pushing a little close on time, with the event being on the 11th, and we visited PJ's on the 1st. I called to ask what the turn around time was, I was told there was enough time and to bring it in. We bring the suit in, he puts it on. The lady takes one look at him and gets angry. There was a bit of a language barrier, but what I was getting from her was that I wasted my money on this suit. I needed to buy a smaller suit or I needed to buy a different suit. Well neither of those things were an option, what I needed was for someone to help me make this suit work. I asked for a quote. She went through each piece of the suit and scoffed when I said I wanted that part altered. "You want new shoulders?" "Yes, I would like the shoulders brought in if that's possible" *scoff* "you want this done?" (The body of the jacket) "yes, I would like that brought in" *scoff*. That continued throughout. She was saying what I was asking for couldn't be done, the suit could never look anything near how I wanted it to. On the orange post it she was tallying my total. She asked when I needed it by because she was very busy. Then she said "so you still want to do it? Or you want to go think about it?" My total was $237. Obviously after how we were being treated, I wasn't very eager to give her my business. I said I wanted to think about it and told my son to change out of the suit. There was another customer in there at the time getting some clothing marked, she looked at me letting me know she saw the crazy that was happening and was surprised by it as well. While my son was changing the lady continued to turn and basically yell at me about how I bought the wrong suit, bought the wrong size. I kept trying to explain that I didn't have a choice, but that didn't stifle her anger at all. I had three of my children with me and when leaving each of them- 15, 10, and 6 were asking questions about this grown woman's behavior. Why she was so angry, why she yelled at me. So the next day (today) I went to another alterations shop in fishers, Georgetown Alterations. I had so much anxiety walking into that place because I was partially believing my requests were impossible and that any seamstress I asked for help would be outraged and berate me. Thank goodness that was not the case at all. This gentle, calm young lady greeted us, my son put the suit on, I didn't even have to ask for things to be done- she just started marking and pinning and asking him how that part felt and asking me if I like where she had it. She added alterations to the suit that the other lady told me were impossible (without being asked to-I didn't dare ask for anything.) I was so relieved that she was so nice. She tallied up our total and wouldn't you know it... more alterations to the suit for 1/2 of what the lady at PJ's was asking for fewer alterations. A very quick turn around with days built in in case we need to make tweaks before the event. $119 at Georgetown and fantastic service vs $237 (for less work) and possibly the worst service experience I've ever had. I would highly recommend any and everyone avoid PJ's. There are absolutely other shops that will *happily take your business for probably 1/2 the price (unless this person was just overcharging me because she was angry or didn't like me.... Which is an issue in and of itself.) read more

We have used PJ Alterations since they were in their old location, and they have always done an excellent job! The last two visits were top-notch. We had to have a pair of blackout curtains shortened, and that material was then added to lengthen another pair of blackout curtains, and they turned out great. Next, we had two outfits that needed tailoring for a Kentucky Derby Party we were attending. It is prom season, and they are overwhelmed working on party dresses. Initially, we were told there was insufficient time to tailor the items to meet our deadline. But after some begging and pleading, they made it happen. It is with a devastating heart that I write this. I rarely write reviews but this last experience left me shocked and bewildered at the rude, disrespectful and highly unprofessional behavior by the owner. After being a loyal customer for 4 years I am sad and extremely disappointed that I was treated so poorly. I came into the shop to get straps installed to my strapless dress for an important event. Unfortunately it was sewn obviously too close together. It was to the point where it was only a few inches apart. I had no other dress to wear last minute and opted to wear the dress and cover the straps with my long hair. The next day, I came into the shop and very kindly mentioned that i thought the straps were sewn to close together. I'm not sure if the owner is sleep deprived, over worked or what is going on but the response was so volatile and despicable, I had to tell her repeatedly to calm down and stop yelling at me. She kept insisting that I called her stupid which was absurd because I would never call someone that. Then after telling her to calm down again, she started to go to her coffee mug and say she can't talk very well because her throat hurts and starts fake coughing. I am embarrassed for her and feel extremely disappointed that she had resorted to such aggressive volatile behavior to the point of yelling at a customer for simply wanting the straps adjusted. I'm quite honestly appalled at her behavior. Like I mentioned, I'd never experienced this before but I think the owner is going through some sort of mental breakdown because I've never experienced such an outrageous and defensive reaction to such a simple mistake that could've easily been resolved. Unfortunately, the quality and customer service is no longer what it was. I would be extremely cautious about coming here. I pray and hope she can get some help for her anger issues and some rest. read more

Disappointing Experience at PJ Alterations with the owner and feel bad that I need to write this review. The issue and the way I was treated was awful. I have been a loyal customer for years; however, I must express my disappointment and shock with the way my request to return one item for alteration was handled. During my visit, I had initially requested alterations for several items. However, upon further consideration, I decided that one of the items did not require alterations after all. I returned to the shop promptly, within 20 minutes of my initial visit, to inform the owner of my decision. I was surprised and when I was informed that I would be charged for the alteration, despite the short timeframe and the fact that only one item out of several was being returned. The owner was very rude to me and kept repeating that she is too busy. She also kept saying there are no re-do's on any alterations that she does. I understand that businesses have policies in place, but I believe that in this particular situation, there could have been more flexibility and understanding extended. I left the shop extremely disappointed and in shock with the way she handled the situation. It was very upsetting and I will not go back to PJ Alterations or recommend Pj Alterations. In the "past" they were wonderful and easy to work so I hope that in the future, there can be more consideration for individual circumstances and a willingness to accommodate reasonable requests. read more

I had a dress altered but was not happy with the sleeves (I was not angry or confrontational at all) I sent a text to Pj's and was told to come in. I went in and the first thing I was told was I "hurt her feelings" because I was not happy with the cuffs on the sleeves. I told her we must have miscommunicated and I ended up apologizing. She repeated 2 more times about how I hurt her feelings, it made me feel awful. She did fix the problem (to her credit she did not charge me extra) then saved the fabric to "prove" she did the work. She did not need to do that because they fit perfectly at that point. I told her I recommended her to my daughter (despite her making me feel awful and embarrassing me) The alteration by the way was over $100. My daughter needed a dress made bigger and I was told that would not be a problem. My daughter had extra fabric that came with the dress. She was charged over $100 as well and would have been ok but it did not fit at all. The top was so tight you needed two people to zip up the back which is where she needed the room. My daughter text and complained it did not fit, not even close. She was told to bring it in and they would adjust the dress. That would be fine if the wedding she needs the dress for wasn't in a few weeks. There is no time to go back and forth with this since it is time sensitive. She ended up purchasing a dress that does not need alterations. I paid over $100 for this alteration and I would have been totally fine if it fit but it's like nothing was done. I'm out over $100. I do not expect a full refund but was surprised nothing was offered, not even an apology. I'll take my business elsewhere. Beware not to complain if you don't want to be embarrassed because you critique the work. read more

I am so impressed by the work done here! I ordered a custom bridesmaids dress to fit me perfectly but unfortunately that resulted in some very visible flaws in the fabric on the chest and with the zipper in the back. They were able to fix the size, layered pattern in the front and the issue with the extra fabric making the zipper function improperly. Despite their moving of their shop at the time, they were quick and efficient! I went from dreading wearing this dress to loving it and feeling far more confident in it based on the alterations made. Coincidentally, the only thing they likely don't alter are your PJs. I'm a customer more often than I'd like to admit because I'm 5'6" so I need every pair of pants shortened. I've also used PJs recently because I've decided that then taking out the waist in my pants is easier than working out. Pro tip: if you take out the waist in a pair of pants, people will think you've lost weight. Immediate confidence booster. The woman who owns this place is incredibly nice. I have used PJ Alterations for a few years mostly to hem my son's pants as he has a very short inseam. I have always been happy with their work in the past. The end of November my son and I went in to PJ Alterations and he tried on pants and the owner pinned up the hems to the proper length. I picked up the 3 pair of pants that they hemmed for my son on December 2, 2023. One of the pair of pants were a pair of SpongeBob pajama pants I had purchased for him for Christmas so I put them up to wrap and give him for Christmas. Just two months later, I noticed the hem was coming out of the pajama pants. I took them back to PJ Alterations to see if they could re-do the hem in the pants. The owner told me "I did not do" "I can do for you, but you must pay"! I said I brought them here to your shop for hemming with my son. You may not have done the actual hemming of the pants, but, someone here in your shop did. She continued on with saying "She did not do" "I can do but you must pay"! I couldn't believe it. I left the shop and will not go back to PJ Alterations. So disappointed in the way she handled the situation. I had been a good customer to her and to be treated like that was very upsetting. She messed up a simple job, sewing on buttons for suspenders on my paints. I showed her the mistake, they were uneven, and she threw a temper tantrum. Obviously she was having a bad day, but her behavior was childish and unnecessary. After messing up the job a 2nd time she shoved the paints at me while yelling, and I quote, : "ME NOT DO AGAIN !" Absolutely outstanding quality of work and service. PJ shortened and hemmed 11 tablecloths to use on picnic tables. You cannot tell her stitching from the original stitching. My husband has also had clothing alterations made here, and they were also expertly done. PJ's work is professional, she is very personable, and items are ready on their due date. Once to have the straps on some dresses shortened, another time to have a dress altered, and most recently to have the zippers replaced in two pillow shams. All three experiences were consistently stellar. The man and woman who run PJ's are very friendly and attentive. My dress alteration ended up being a rush and they were able to work me into the schedule. This was ever so helpful as I had let a dress decision for an out-of-town wedding go until the last minute. I also have to say that the zipper replacement in the pillow shams blew me away the most. They literally look and work better now than when I bought them originally. PJ's is a great local business to support that is run by two very hard-working individuals. I definitely recommend them and will certainly be returning there myself. read more

She made me stand there in my dress for 30minutes while she helped other guest.
