Well I can't comment on the work yet, but I picked up some items for my mom. First Lady was very nice, she's visiting family in Peru. My mom has a ticket for $36. She called and told them I would pick up due to ice and snow. Woman confirmed $36 total. Today the woman there said it was $46, repeated twice. Counted my money when I gave it to her. Oh and I had cash, so who's to prove it? So maybe don't judge off of one experience w one person but buyer beware? read more

Worst service I have ever experienced. I brought pants in for alterations, they came back with a big black spot on the seat. When I asked what it was, they kept the clothes to talk to the manager. The manager said it came in that way and did not budge. It was a pair of jeans, and I'll live. However, do not bring anything precious (wedding dress, etc.) to this tailor. When I walked into the store, I was greeted by someone and then lead to the dressing room. I did not have to wait more than 15 seconds before someone came to begin the alteration. I brought in linen pants. I did not specify that I wanted the hem to be exactly like the original. It is not as wide as the original. That's on me! Incompetent. Lucy no longer owns this business. The work they did on my $100 corduroys was simple, take in 2" of the waist. Instead they took in a 1/4" over each back pocket creating unsightly lines and the pants are still way too big. Go elsewhere. read more

I brought in a skirt with a broken zipper. I asked them to replace the zipper. They didn't tell me the price when I dropped it off but I figured it couldn't be that much. When I picked it up the lady working spoke no words to me. Brought out the ticket that clearly said $10 and changed the 0 to an 8 for $18 and just looked at me. I didn't feel like fighting so I gave her cash. When I got to my car and was on the way home I realized they just bent the broken tooth on the zipper to get the zipper pull back on and now the skirt zips but it won't zip down past the broken part. The zipper wasn't even replaced. I won't return. Overall very odd experience and I paid $18 for them to bend a piece of metal on a zipper. read more

I must say that I have had nothing but positive experiences the two times that I have visited Lucy's Tailor. I originally had purchased my wedding dress at Lucy's Bridal, which is next door to Lucy's Tailor (spoiler: same owners). I was hesitant to go to Lucy's Tailor because the dress shop closed (which allowed me to get a great deal on my off the rack dress). However, after doing some research, I decided to take my dress back for alterations. (I later found out that the bridal store closed because Lucy was working both stores full time- a girl needs to have some down time!) Lucy welcomed my mother, one of my bridesmaids, and me into the shop. Since my dress was purchased off the rack, it needed quite a few alterations. I had a vision for a unique dress that I could only afford by doing alterations to an off the rack gown. Lucy was confident and agreed that my vision for the dress is exactly what she pictured. Lucy had me try on the dress and instantly got to pinning to remove the sleeves off the dress. Since the dress needed to be lifted in the shoulders, Lucy also recommended adding buttons to the back so the dress only zipped up half way. I left with a return appointment for a month and a half down the road. The following scenario is why Lucy's gets 5 stars in my books. I returned to the store by myself and it turns out that I came 3 weeks after I was supposed to! My fault!! I put in the wrong date on my phone! Lucy had appointments booked for the day, but told me not to worry about it. I know that balancing 2 brides alterations at the same time was no easy feat! I tried on my dress and it fit perfectly! I have one more appointment scheduled as Lucy is taking the trim from the sleeves and adding it into the hem where the sleeves were removed! Lucy also did magic on my full beaded belt and removed the sash that was sewn into the dress. I can't wait to wear my dress down the alter as Lucy has made it truly, a one of a kind! My alterations were not easy, and I would fully trust her for all my future alterations! Carmel is quite a drive for me, but it is worth it for her expertise! read more

I would never, ever go back again. After reading some reviews (after using them) I wish I had kept looking for a better alterations experience. Thankfully, my Mother of the Groom formal dress turned out well, but communication was terrible due to lack of English proficiency on the part of the employees. I should have just left with my dress when I realized that I wasn't sure if we were even on the same page with what I wanted done. It took two more attempts to get the alterations right, but they did it. However, my dress smelled like food (the employees ate in the back room where they worked). Now, I'm looking for a quality dry cleaning for my dress so that I can wear it on my son's wedding day. Also, while I was waiting on my last alteration to be completed, two other customers came in to pick up their garments. Each customer was told, "not ready" even though their receipt indicated that their items would be ready. Understandably, there was some tension and those customers were VERY unhappy! read more

I used to LOVE going to Lucy Tailor until it was recently sold to new owners. I've been there twice with the new owners. I always feel rushed and like I'm in the way. They've increased their prices, decreased customer service, increased the amount of time it takes to get items back and both times I've had to leave things there after they were supposed to be done because they weren't done correctly. I dropped off brand new pants to be hemmed. I literally removed the tags before dropping them off. I had never worn them before. When I picked up my pants, there were holes all over the pants like a small animal had been chewing on my pants. To make matters worse, they refused to take responsibility. I had been a customer for over five years and I will never go back. I understand things happen, but their refusal to take responsibility sealed the deal for me. read more

The only place my family goes for our tailoring needs. Lucy the owner is lovely and knows what she's doing! Inside the shop there are three changing rooms so you can put on your piece of clothing and have her pin it where it needs to be altered. Brides with wedding dresses beware! I wish I had never taken my wedding dress here!! Absolute disaster and if you are looking for an alteration to your wedding dress I advise you go any where but here!!!! I had a very simple dress and Lucy was not very personable at my fitting but seemed competent and said she could take it in a little (it fit almost perfect already) and add cups and a bustle. When I returned the dress was waaaay too tight and I could barely fit into it. When I explained it was so uncomfortable, I couldn't breath and was worried and noted the now crease in my back skin that wasn't there before she simply said it had to be like that and that is the way the dress was supposed to be. It needed to be tight. But it almost fit perfect before and only need to be taken in a small amount on the top. She even struggled to get me in it and I thought the zipper was going to break. Again I told her it seemed too tight and she showed me how to have a bridesmaid spread out back skin (honestly people I am not a big girl size 4-6) that was now ceasing like a butt crack. I was appalled and she said that is what girls do. Since the dress was too tight the lace under my arms wasn't laying flat anymore and curling under my arms... a part she wasn't even altering and she said to just tape it down!!!!! Never have I ever heard anyone doing that for their wedding dress! She also mentioned that it would loosen up over time because I looked uncomfortable and not to gain any weight!!! I didn't even know what to say because she wasn't acknowledging the mistake. My simple beautiful dress that had already almost been perfect was not waaay too tight and looked awful! After all that, the breast cups were white (not my dress color) and simple stitched on top of the material inside the dress so when you moved or bent over you could see them. They are supposed to go inside the dress! I asked if that was right and she said yes that's how they look.The bustle was done wrong, she never added buttons to the bottom layer so it still dragged behind the dress and the top tulle layer had a string sewen through it that had no chance of holding up the dress and the wrong color buttons on the back of my dress!!! After the "it's supposed to look this way and don't gain weight comment" I paid for my dress and left and cried all the way home. I took it back to the store I bought it from out of state to have them look at it and we hired a new seamstress! It was clear the dress was taken in way too much ... over an entire size to be exact, they were afraid it would ripe. We knew how much because she simply shoved the extra material into the bodice then cut the overlying lace and GLUED it down on the dress!!! Who does that!!! The breast cups were of course wrong as was the bustle unfinished and terrible craftsman's ship. Not to mention all the money I am out for the alterations and to fix the dress that had already been near perfect when I bought it.. what's worse is the stress and fear it caused!!! No one should ever have to go through that ever! I had a very simple dress that didn't need much of anything and she destroyed it and tried to ignore it when I asked about things claiming it was supposed to be that way. She didn't want to or know how to fix it! I felt so taken advantage of and when I saw the horrible work she did on my dress as a real seamstress took it apart and showed me I couldn't stop crying at how someone would ruin a wedding dress! The one dress a woman looks forward to her whole life. I thank god for the woman that could fix it and pray no one else will have this happen to them. Awful. Ruined a very expensive formal long dress taken in for hemming. It was so uneven I had to take it to to a new tailor and purchase new fabric to completely remake the bottom of the dress for the upcoming event. I have since learned that Lucy had sold the business. Very unprofessional. This establishment changed ownership from Lucy to Maria recently and ever since the change, the work has been substandard to say the least. In addition, the customer service is terrible. They are rude, confrontational, dishonest, and not timely. I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. read more

I don't know what happened to the original Lucy Tailor but this new ownership is awful. Picked up daughters homecoming dress and it was discolored where they had altered it. Maybe used too hot of an iron, not sure, but when I questioned it she just looked at me like I was stupid. Very poor customer service all around. Will not be going back read more
