Full disclosure: I never actually used their services nor do I intend to after their "lovely" phone etiquette. I called today to ask how much it would cost to have a pair of pants hemmed. I don't know if this is some tailoring nightmare Q or a pet peeve to be asked for prices over the phone? BUT I heard,"hemming is $3.50" and I was surprised so I said "$3.50?", and the response- so unnecessarily rude - was "Ma'am, it's never $3.50, it's $23.50". My assumption is that I misheard bc of the phone connection. I've never once been addressed so rudely over the phone over a harmless Q. Oh my god this place was SO EXPENSIVE. To do two simple hems she charged me over $180. I will say $40 ($20 per piece) of the total cost was rush because I needed it within three days.... But my goodness. My friend who is quite savvy at DIY hemming said this was an incredibly straightforward job to do and that it should not have cost $70-90/piece. Overall she did a fine job but wow the tailoring cost way more than the dress and skirt itself I will definitely look elsewhere next time for my tailoring needs. read more

I had an unsettling experience when I dropped off a few items at Kimberley's a few weeks ago. I was a new customer, and the fitting was quick and went fine. But as I was getting ready to leave, Kimberley launched into a long tirade about political and social issues, making me feel very uncomfortable and unable to leave with my ticket for nearly 15 minutes. She espoused in rich detail her beliefs about gun laws, socialism, abortion, welfare, and other controversial topics, at one point insisting that I watch videos about dead babies to change how I thought about abortion. She was agitated and raised her voice even as I listened in near silence. She was actively trying to engage / persuade me toward her beliefs. I waited until I picked up my items to post this. The alterations were fine (very simple hem and strap shortening), but I'll look elsewhere in the future to avoid such an uncomfortable encounter. read more

I went here to get some motorcycle jeans hemmed, which are very expensive jeans due to all the material used in case of a crash while riding. Kim did an awesome job! She gave me the 2 options for hemming the legs; one cheaper option of leaving the inner lining open or a slightly more expensive option of having the inner lining sewn up. Due to the cost of these jeans I opted for the slightly more expensive option. Her workmanship was outstanding! The jeans fit great and she was very familiar with how motorcycle jeans should be sewn slightly longer in the legs (for cruising style motorcycles). I totally recommend this place if you are looking for a job well done. It may cost more than other places, but you pay for what you get. I will return in the future when having my motorcycle jeans hemmed. A word about customer service. I found no issue with her customer service like others. This lady is a miracle worker. All of my clothes that need alterations go here, now. I had an odd sized suit that needed tailoring. I found Kimberley's on Yelp, and decided to give it a shot. I am glad I went here over any other place in Issaquah. She really knows how to creatively resolve odd sized problems. My suit required a lot of rework to do what I needed it to do, and she creatively expanded and contracted the pant with minimal material, completely disassembling and reassembling portions of the pant. Once completed, you couldn't tell they had been altered in anyway, they fit comfortably and will last a long time. Quality craftsmanship, I must say. If I had to complain about anything it would be that she only took cash and checks, she did not take debit or credit cards. Nevertheless, she does fantastic work! read more

We work with the general public, and didn't have any masks yet, so we gratefully accepted. She showed up soon afterward with lots of colorful, well-made masks. My alterations were perfect! She did my brides maid dress. And she was able to custom make two matching bow ties and two matching giant hair bows (flower boys and ring girls). The kids were adorable! I gave 4 starts because the work was perfect, fast and she was hysterical. Cut to the chase, honest, and matter of fact. I saw other reviews that said she was rude but I didn't see her as rude, just spunky and confident with her work! As she should be. I left off one star and that was for price. I am a big fan of Kimberley. I have been taking work to her for several years and she has never let me down. She quickly measures the clothing and marks the alterations needed and gives me a price. The work is always done perfectly, on time, at the price quoted. I've never had a problem with price changing mentioned by a couple of other people. I suspect there must have been some miscommunication with the people who gave a poor review. If you need alterations. DO NOT go to this place. This is probably my least rated review on Yelp! She is rude, arrogant and uncourteous. She lost out on probably a great customer (I tend to market a good service/product pretty well!) I needed to get a long party dress ($150) shortened by 1 inch. She didn't even see the dress properly and she was "it's going to take 65$" I saw the Yelp reviews and went there with some high expectations. (// She probably does a good job stitching the whole dress and stuff; I don't know and I don't want to know. I will also make sure people I know, get to know about the terrible experience I had!) Well, to continue, after she said it was 65$, I was like "oh! it's too expensive, almost 1/2 the price of the dress, so I will pass." And, then I saw some fully made wedding dresses around and out of curiosity asked her in a nice way "So you make wedding dresses, huh? " JUST asked her that. She cut me and goes like " if you can't do the alteration, you can't afford my wedding dresses!" UNBELIEVABLE! 1) I would have been the most elite person who would have visited her dingy small store. I am married and my wedding dress costed about 3 times of her most expensive one! 2) Even if I was the richest person on earth, firstly I wouldn't go to her and secondly I wouldn't pay 65$ for a stitch! 3) Even if I wasn't, that is no way someone in her right mind, talks to her customer in such an uncourteous manner. I've been looking for a good tailor for awhile, so was excited when I saw a new place in Issaquah that got great ratings here on yelp. And guess what, everything everyone is saying is true, she is excellent! I had two pairs of pants for her to hem, and a dress. I called on a Sunday asking if I could just drop in or if I needed to make an appointment, she say normally Sundays are by appointment only but to come on in and she would get me in. When I came in, Kimberly was just wonderful, friendly, funny, and the quality of her work is just amazing. I doubt anyone could even tell I have had any of my items altered! The only down side is make sure you bring cash or your check book - but honestly, this inconvenience is small when you know your clothes are in great hands! She fixed my bridesmaid dress with an extremely tight schedule after an unfortunate incident at another nearby Issaquah tailor. Not only did she fix someone else's poor work, she did it better and charged less. She takes great pride in her work, doing all work the right way, without shortcuts. Kimberley is excellent! She's hemmed two pairs of my jeans, and was able to shorten the jeans and keep the original hem. They look great; like they weren't altered at all. She's also resized a leather belt, and is currently working on repairing a rip in a pair of my jeans and some buttons that weren't sewn correctly on a pea coat. I definitely recommend her services. I have been trying to find a good tailor for a while, as I recently got a few suits, and one that was close to where I lived so I wouldn't have to go so far for a decent alteration job. With the help of Yelp, I was able to discover this place and it did live up to its reviews. I brought in a couple of pants to get hemmed up as it was too long, and she got it to the perfect length, as I have a short build, so it fit right and look nice. She does great work, and even does work for a major department store. She is very friendly and seems to know what looks right for the specific customer. She only takes cash as payment, so although you don't pay until she finishes with the clothes, just be aware she doesn't take any form of debit or credit card. The price is affordable and the job is great. I will definitely look forward on my next visit as I know that it will come out great when its done. In fact, I got a wedding to go to soon, so I guess I'll be seeing Kim sooner rather than later. read more

My experience at Kimberley's was fantastic. I had to get my wedding dress altered (hem, bustle and taken in on the chest since the busts on these dresses are ridiculous) and she did an amazing job. You couldn't even tell the bust had been altered and it fit perfectly. The bustle was confusing due to the hooks/loops being hard to see but it worked out and stood up to people accidentally dancing on it during my wedding. Also, as other reviewers pointed out, she tells you like it is. Some people may find that hostile but I totally appreciate someone telling me what will and won't work, instead of just forging ahead and doing a blah job at it. I will definitely be going back for any other alterations I may have in the future. read more

Cannot say enough good about what a great job Kimberley did on my husband's competitive cycling shorts. She repaired so they really are better than new. We plan on bringing all our alterations here! Wanted to add how difficult it is to get bike gear repaired. Sizing, the fabric. She is quick and her 'fixes' last much longer that the original stitches on hubs gear. Also the price were surprisingly reasonable. Definitely causes me to rethink some of my cloths that I might give away, have them altered instead. read more
