I'm actually shocked she is in a management position based on her lack of customer service ability and the way she talks to her customers, and even the employees she works with. Sorry but I wouldn't trust her to do a load of wash for me. I refuse to support businesses who have employees with poor values and character, especially in management positions. I frantically brought my wedding dress to this place totally anxious, stressed and defeated with what my original alterations lady did to my wedding dress. I was almost unwearable. When I got there the woman (can't remember her name but I assume she's the owner) totally validated my concerns with the dress without me even having to point out what's wrong. She just saw the flaws and knew what to do. I picked it up 2ish weeks later and it was perfect. You couldn't even tell she did such dramatic work in the way that the lines stayed so clean and neat like that dress was made that way. She relaxed the straps with different ones entirely and they match the color of the dress and also looks as tho it was made that way. I'm so relived now and so thrilled she was able to help me. After many years of loyalty to this place, I have generally been satisfied with the work performed but after today I'm officially done. I took a pair of trousers to Bellevue Alterations to have them hemmed. I take great pride in being extremely careful with the clothes I wear considering the price I pay for them. After 6 months the hems came loose and I nearly tripped. I took them into Mimi who did not offer, (nor has she ever) any discount for the inconvenience or for being a repeat customer. It's all about the lack of customer service and the bottom line. She offered no apology for it and appeared very nervous and uncomfortable when I had explained to her that this had happened in such a short period of time. Of course, she takes the payment up front before the work is done. To add injury to insult she continued to turn the blame in the customer direction accusing me of being "rough" with the garment. As a loyal customer I feel disrespected and insulted. As a business owner I found her excuses lame and her behavior unprofessional. Avoid!! and take your business elsewhere. read more

Altering 6 pairs of pants (simple hemming) cost me $130 & took 10 full business days. I called in advance to ask if the pants were ready, & Mimi told me to come in the next day (morning) anytime. I drove 30 mins the next morning to pick the pants up, and she told me I could wait or come back later. I tried everything on & found that the pants were all too short so I asked for a correction & she was extremely disgruntled & visibly upset. She forgot to include 2 pairs of pants & when I asked about them, she became defensive in saying "these things happen" because they were so busy. The alteration quality was average at best. Her demeanor towards customers is intolerable & egregious. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, there are many tailors in the area that do a far more talented & charge decisively less. read more

I brought a dress to be taken in to be shortened and waist tightened. A nice lady Mong(?) was assigned to help me, I was hoping it was Mimi but she wasn't available. Mong(?) speak very little English so one of the attendants who we're working on the front desk help to translate what I needed to get done. Mong(?) then had me put on the dress and started pinning(hem and sides). She reassured me it'll get done. It cost $35 for the alteration and since I needed it in four days they charged me additional $10. On the day of scheduled pick up I got a call from them and told me it was ready, I wasn't able to pick it up myself so I had someone to do it. On the day of my event(which was the next day after pick up) was the first time trying it on again, I was so surprised to see my dress in the same condition! She might've just chopped off two inches off and the sides we're untouched! The hole marks where the pins we're placed was visible on the sides of my dress!!! I feel like they did a very sloppy rushed job :( I called back and spoke to Mimi and had told her how disappointing my experience with them. I had to take the dress somewhere to get it done the correct way. read more

Where have you been all my life? We are talking miracle worker, here. Mimi took a dress that I had a simple alteration to, and suggested two additional changes that not only changed the whole look of the dress but elevated it to runway quality style. I would have never thought of these ideas but it seemed effortless to her. I brought a number of other items to her for simple alterations and those were done to perfection as well. While I was there, she showed me some other projects they had done at the shop and I was blown away. Bring in something you like, but don't wear for whatever reason and they will transform it into your newest "go-to" item in your closet. Whether it be a boxy trench that's just a bit outdated or that blouse that's sleeves are too short. She will find a way to update it by adding a beautiful lace trim or maybe a leather collar to the trench...whatever it may be, you will be shocked and so excited with your "new" clothes made just for you. Long story short: they messed up the lace applique on my wedding gown; they basically tried to trick me into thinking that they didn`t screw up the lace; owner was super rude and unprofessional; they gave me 2 pricings- just like many of their customers wrote here. Extended version: they altered my wedding gown, which had a beautiful lace appliques on the back; in order to make the alterations, they had to take off this lace applique completely, so when they put it back and I went in to try it on, I noticed that something was different, something was off, I just couldn`t point out what it was exactly. So I asked them several times: is the back different now? Didn`t they put the whole applique back? Isn`t something missing from the back? But they told me, that I just think it looks different (from how it looked originally) because now it`s fitted, and that`s what confuses me. [Btw- I pretty much bought this dress because of the lace applique on its back.] So I believed them, cause I thought they`re the professionals, they know it better, they know dresses better... When I went back the 2nd time, my gown was ready, but the back still worried me, but again I was told it`s just me, there`s nothing wrong with it. So I took my dress, and 5 days after I flew overseas to have my wedding reception. The back of the dress was still bothering me, so 2 days before the wedding I started looking up photos from my dress before it was altered, then I took photos of it in its current state, and that`s when I noticed- they put the lace back the wrong way. I had to run around and try to find a seamstress who would fix this for me in 1.5 days before my wedding reception- luckily I ended up finding someone who did a great job in such a short time. Afterwards I came back to the USA, and I went back to them. Mimi, the owner, wasn`t even surprised to see me- I told her: I think you know why I`m here, and she just nodded slightly with a regretful smile. You could tell that she knows why I`m back. First she was trying to blame it on her seamstress. I asked her to reimburse me for the overseas seamstress` work who fixed my dress. So then she said I should`ve brought back the dress to them to fix it, although she knew that I was on the other half of the planet when I noticed what`s wrong w/ the dress, and it was 2 days before my wedding, and she still said: well, you should`ve brought it back. (Only the flight back takes around 18 hours at least, and she knew this.) Then when I said I don`t have the receipt from the other seamstress, she went in the back and started to badmouth me loudly to all of her employees. Needless to say she didn`t reimburse me and she didn`t even apologize, not once. Worst experience ever. No bride should go through this before their wedding. I kept postponing writing this review, cause it`s still very upsetting for me, but this really needed to be said. read more

I agree with the positive reviews about Bellevue Alterations. Took a few loose fitting shirts and two jackets that looked baggy and got back shirts that fit great and jackets that I don't look foolish in. Mimi had me try on the shirts and immediately spotted the problem areas, pinning areas together and asking me to move my arms to see if it felt comfortable. The consultation was pretty easy actually. Mimi was very polite and a nice person to work with. Especially since she knew exactly what I was aiming for. The quality was great. The service was fantastic. You won't regret it, folks! read more

They were great and turned around my dress just in time for my flight. The only thing I would encourage them to do is to be honest about timing and pricing. I brought my bridesmaid dress in 2 weeks prior to my flight to CA and the owner quoted me "$95" for everything that needed to be done and told me to bring the dress back 2 days prior to my flight. I asked if she was sure she could get it done in 2 days and she assured me yes. I waited a week and actually decided to bring back my dress 4 days before my flight just in case they needed more time and I am so glad I did. I walked in and told the same lady I saw before, "I'm here to get my dress altered, I brought it in early so you would have more time". She asked when I needed it by and I reminded her of when my flight was. She then proceeded to tell me that there was no way she could get it done in 4 days and that I should have brought it in sooner (which I did the first time and I even offered her to keep it). I reminded her that she actually told me to bring it back with LESS time and I brought it in early to GIVE her more time. She said that she was short staffed and couldn't help me. I told her that was not an option, she needed to somehow get the dress done or else I wasn't going be in the wedding. If she had told me when I came in that she was too busy, I would have found another place to get it altered at. When she finally agreed to help, I went to pay and they told me it was now going to be $125". I let the checkout person know that the owner had told me $95 2 weeks ago. She said because they were "rushing" it, they needed to charge me more. I told her that I would not pay that and that I actually brought the dress back EARLIER than what the owner told me originally so there's no way it would need to be rushed. I asked her how much it would have been if I had ACTUALLY listened to their instruction and brought it back 2 days before my flight and she said she didn't know, but probably expensive. I'm sorry, but that is completely unprofessional. You are the consultant that provides insight as to what you can and cannot do for a customer. I feel like it's almost a way for them to try to upcharge you by giving you unrealistic expectations. I'm glad I brought my dress in earlier than they suggested, so just be aware to always bring your stuff in earlier than when they say. Giving them 5 stars because my dress fit perfectly and they got it done on time. Would rate them 3 on customer service, transparency and honesty. read more

Omg, such scammers! I took a couch cushion cover to replace the zipper somewhere close to Christmas. They charged so much for it and did the lousiest job ever. They put an inadequate zipper which cannot hold a wash and one side of the zipper was sewn poking out of the material. When I went to get the cushion cover they had conveniently already packed it and rushed me out the door without me being able to check. I only discovered at home. Had to bring it to another tailor to repair all the damage. Please don't go here. They are dishonest and over charge for a terrible terrible job. I hope they close down this establishment soon. I have a lot of experience with tailors....been involved in menswear for over 30 years. This is a great tailor shop that can handle any kind of job. They have always been perfect for me and I have 3 difficult fitting problems on mens suits. Likewise, bridal thru prom to just basic womenswear, they are great..The adage of "you get what you pay for is true" but I think they are reasonable. Also, they can do custom or design and fabrics to choose for each. Mimi is the owner, she has a great staff.....the only lil problem is that there isn't much parking...at least it's free, unlike the growing trend in downtown Bellevue. read more

Fast, courteous and they did an excellent job. The straps on my panniers needed repairing and Bellevue Alterations did an excellent job sewing on new parts to replace the broken ones.
