Best place ever to get tailoring/alterations done. Mimi and her staff always take care of me and my clothes are done exactly how I want.

This place is such a rip off. $70 to hem a dress. I would go somewhere else where you can get the same thing for half the cost.

Overpriced and not good for anything beyond simple hemming jobs. I wasted about $50.00 on a dress I needed to have fitted and a blouse that needed a snap at the neckline to keep it closed. They put in a cheap plastic snap that was completely worthless. Not only that but the snap was sewn in unevenly so that my blouse gapped and then popped open because of the cheap plastic snap. My dress was too big and needed to be taken in at the arms. They told me all I needed was to replace the elastic. The dress still doesn't fit and now I have to take it somewhere else.Terrible consulting and shoddy work. With the exception of hemming my jeans and two tops, the workmanship was not good. If you have anything complicated, take it to a tailor. These people are only capable of handling easy alterations. read more

Went in today to get two men's suits altered due to losing some weight lately. My Expectation was about $50-$60 per. Then, the woman gives me the quote of $350. I could buy another cheap suit for that price. I laughed at this quote, took my suits home, and went to 2 different places since and received quotes around $100 at both. I wanted to check two because my expectations may have been wrong and I didn't want to jump at the first cheaper one without getting a similar quote elsewhere. I don't want bargain basement work either on my suits. My expectations were on par. I don't understand how their service was so much more expensive. Onward. read more

This place is truly amazing and very reasonably priced! I was looking for a tailor to lengthen the sleeves in my Filson wool jacket. This jacket is very heavy wool and I knew it would be a struggle to find someone that could do it. After being turned away by several other local establishments, the fine employees of this store said they could absolutely do it, and only charged me $22 to boot! I wasn't in a hurry, so turn-around time was not an issue, I got it back in a week and the work was perfection. I would highly recommend this business to anyone. I've never experience such rude, condescending customer service in all of my life! I took a bridesmaids dress to Bellevue Alterations for a simple alterations - shortening the dress and shortening the straps. Unfortunately, the straps, and their ruffle detail, were shortened too much. When the straps were let out again, the ruffle detail which was previously trimmed, no longer held to the original design of the dress - the ruffle was an inch too short. When brought to the attention of the owner, I was met with the most rude attitude and told I was "strange" for wanting the dress to match its original strap design and that no one looks at the back of the dress. Imagine being a bride and taking your wedding gown here only to be told no one looks at the back of your dress so their mistake shouldn't matter. If you're paying $100 for simple alterations, they should be what you want and not compromise the design of the dress! read more

Do yourself a favor, do not go to this place. To start, the owner is really rude!!! Ever since she started pinning my dress (bridesmaid dress) she told me about 3 times that it was a lot of work because I'm pregnant. I understand that, but you are charging me for ALL that work. Charged me $180 and completely ruined my dress and my confidence cause made me feel like it was something bad to be a bridesmaid while pregnant. The work she did was worse than mediocre, I don't know if the people there are apprentice or what but it was awful! (Look at the pictures). The stitching was HORRIBLE and was coming off every second I moved when I tried it on at home. Made me go in 4 times and had to go a 5th (I live in Mukilteo) because the dress was completely horrible, ruined, not fitted. I understand that I am pregnant but that doesn't mean I can't look good. Every time I went in there she said HOW MUCH WORK IT WAS, for which I paid $180. Went in there one last time and told her that the sewing was unacceptable and falling off to which she said "ok, I'll fix it" and kept insisting that that was the way the dress was supposed to look and wanted me to go back one more time the next day to which I said I cant and waited for it. Finally she made it look ok (not good) and I am dreading the moment that I have to wear the dress because I'm not comfortable in it and don't like the way she made it look on me. I came in to get my jeans hemmed. They got it done in a week and they look great! I am not sure what the price should be for this sort of thing, they were just too long and I needed them shorter. I paid $30 but apparently Nordstrom would of done it for me for $10? But they did do a great job and I would def trust them with any alterations in the future. If you are looking for a bargain I would not recommend this place. You def get what you pay for though, I am very happy with the work they did! read more

If you want the best, this is where you go!!! The staff is incredible and the work is brilliant! (i.e. Often I will bring something in to be just to be shortened or taken in, but Mimi will look at the over all garment and make sure that it looks perfect from top to bottom, making my clothing feel like a custom piece!) She has taken quite a few pieces and tweaked them to make them more special! (i.e. I had a Vince leather dress...she changed the neckline and then on her own...added wire so that I can wear it several different ways and still timeless.) She has a great eye and will give you an honest/genuine opinion. The work there is tops! Absolutely the BEST! read more

They are so good! I bring in my pants to get hemmed and they always tell me what else the pants need to get a good fit! She suggested to close my pockets so they don't stick out. Last time it was taking in the waist on a pair I bought up a size. They also do wedding alterations. They do not have a cleaning business on the side so their main focus is on the alterations. read more

Their service deserves 5 stars, but the price doesn't.. ! They take a week time no matter how smal or big the alteration is.. But upon request they can speed up the process.. Parking is a little tricky there during peak times but we can use Safeway parking right opposite the store.. I would definitely recommend it. read more

Finding a tailor/alterations specialist is difficult, and I've been to a few. To get the gist of my review, I'm petite with a curvy frame -- to add to that I'm chubby, so most clothing items don't fit and have to be altered in some way. Mimi has been phenomenal and damn near life changing, lol. Since discovering her place, I've taken in the following items in.. 2 swimwuits, 2 bodycon style dresses, 1 skirt and a top which I probably spent 300 in total for alterations. Seems pricey yes, but compared to the job Nordy's did on a few items.. this is a bargain. I realize everybody's experience is different, but I'm skeptical of the previous negative reviews. Keep in mind that if you have high expectations and think tailors/alterations are miracle workers.. they are not. I've been turned down by Nordy's as they weren't able to do a specific job, much less work on non-Nordy's purchased items (that policy has changed now), and the job was unsatisfactory. With that said, tailors/alterations can only do so much as they have to factor in what kind of work you're asking to have done, the material they have to work with, etc. So far I'm please to have a place to take my things to. Nordstrom offers free tailoring on my new suits, but I will absolutely still pay to have Mimi and her team do it instead. I know it's hard to believe, because we all love Nordstrom but it is a night and day difference in quality. Also, Mimi took 2 of my Hugo Boss Slim suits from 4-5 years ago and tailored them to make them modern and current. It's seriously like I got 2 brand new suits that look perfect. They are not the cheapest in price, nor are they the most expensive, but they are by far (my opinion) the best. Plus, Mimi is like a fashion consultant. She has great fashion intuition and can guide you on how your clothes SHOULD look like, because the older I get, the less "hip to it" I am. :) Thanks Mimi!! read more

Needed to get a custom made piece from Vietnam repaired last minute, and took it in the day before my flight and they fixed it beautifully- all while I waited in the lobby. Fantastic service and quality repair. Only $16 to have all fasteners either replaced or reinforced, and she reinforced several other spots where she noticed weaknesses in the seams or hems. I will absolutely becoming back for any other alterations needs! read more

They are the best! On New Years Eve I tried on my sequin jumper for the first time that I ordered online and it was too big and so ill-fitting. I was hosting a party at my house that night and I was DEVASTATED, I had my heart set on my jumper. I found Bellevue Alterations online and it was right down the street from my house. A lady greeted me warmly, had me put on the outfit and I told her what kind of alterations I needed. She knew my body type pinned it all up and told me it would be done in three hours. I was in shock! There is no way she would be able to do all this work in a few hours. I came back later to pick my jumper up and when I tell you she completely gutted that jumper and made it look like it was MADE FOR MY BODY I mean it!!! I was floored and so appreciative. This place is kind of shady...I came in here to have my wedding dress altered. Just a hem and turn my top into a sweetheart cut and I was charged about $350. I wasn't too concerned about the price cause that's about how much I was expecting, but she didn't even give me an estimate and was already marking my dress so I had no choice but to pay after she marked all the lines to have it cut. I originally came in to the shop in May cause I was getting married in August. She took the measurements and gave me a date to come in July to pick it up. I said ok, that's fine, and left my dress with her to come pick it up in July. July comes around and I come in and gave her my receipt that says pick up July. I remember it was a Tuesday because I came after work and was excited to see my dress all done. I walk in and she had a puzzled look on her face and checked in the back and brought out my dress. There was my dress, untouched, unaltered, nothing was done. She gave me and excuse "oooh I just put this date here to have you come back and try it on again so I can make sure to have it altered correctly"....really? I left you my dress for 2 months expecting it to be done in July and you tell me it was just another fitting? So why did I leave my dress with you 2 months in advance?! Makes no sense. So after I tried on my dress and she "remeasured" everything, she said ok, come in on Tuesday to pick up. In my head I was like...sooooo this is only taking you 1 week to complete?? I dropped my dress off in May, you have me come back in July and it's going to be done in a week...sorry, but I was not happy with that. It honestly felt like she forgot and gave me an excuse because when I initially dropped it off in May, they told me to come back on this date in July to pick it up. Also! When I first dropped off my dress I had my dress wrapped in the plastic bag that the bridal shop gave me when I purchased my dress and the alterations lady lost it! She actually told me maybe I didn't even give her one when I dropped it off. That makes no sense!!! Why would I give you my dress that wasn't covered with anything that I put in my trunk. My WHITE dress?! Of course it was wrapped in plastic. YOU just lost my bag. Smh..any alterations I have to do in the future, I'll look somewhere else. read more

I was recommended this place from a local bridal shop because I was in need of getting my dress altered (the place I bought it had recommendations as well, but it was pretty far south for me). After a really upsetting first experience elsewhere, I decided to try it again. I came in, and was greeted by a very friendly lady who instructed me to put my dress on. After putting it on, she took a look at it, told me what needed to get done and asked when I needed it by. At this point, I was thrilled that she was able to actually work on my dress!! As mentioned, I had a very upsetting first experience elsewhere, so I was worried I wouldn't get this in time (our wedding was in September, and I'd say this was about June/July? I was SET on this dress, ladies!!) But she said she was able to take it in with no problem! Amazing customer service! When I came back for my first fitting, I couldn't believe it. The dress that didn't quite fit me right and was really long had ACTUALLY fit me! I truly felt like a bride when I put this dress on at my first fitting! There were a couple of other things she needed to do, such as take the dress in a little more in some spots and shorten it a TIIIINY bit more, but overall, I was so happy with the way my dress turned out! I felt so beautiful and was so happy with how it turned out. The woman that worked on my dress was so nice and best of all, made me feel good. My previous experience elsewhere was the total opposite, so I couldn't give this place more praises! Cost wise, I mean, it was in the range I was expecting for alterations, so for any other sort of alterations that you may need, I wouldn't be able to tell you the cost. For me, customer service is what brings people back to you, and the people here were very nice to me and was able to help me out, so I'd definitely recommend this place for whatever alteration needs you may have, wedding or not. read more

Great set up but poor follow-through. This place is quick in terms of making the marks for adjustment and getting you out the door. Unfortunately, the experience after that point leaves much to be desired. We had two pairs of jeans requiring the waist taken in and length shortened, one pair of pants requiring shortening, and a karate uniform requiring the sleeves shortened. They did not take one of the waists in and shortened the sleeves to different lengths. I took those back and they didn't take in the waist very well. They also close earlier than their stated time and only allow you a week in order to bring items back with issues. Not worth it at all. read more

Alterations are fine....customer service is horrible. I have never had people in the service industry be so incredibly rude! I am confused as to why they would treat a customer so poorly. I can't possibly do business with a business that has the attitude like you are lucky they will take your alterations. I will never use them again! I'll be happy to take my business elsewhere and I'm sure based on their attitude they could care less!!!! I can only assume by my experience that these yelp reviews were solicited. I was recommended by a coworker to come here for my wedding dress alterations as she had just had her dress done last September. I was a little nervous, as my previous experience getting a bridesmaid's dress tailored from another entity failed horribly and I was left with an awful gown in a completely unflattering different shape than what I had taken in. I walked in to my first fitting with my bridesmaids at Bellevue Alterations and we were all blown away by how confident and experienced Mimi seemed from the moment I stepped out in my dress. Pins were going in, suggestions were being made and things were being explained clearly and honestly the second I stepped out of the fitting room. I wanted to have my dress taken in more at the hips to create a different silhouette and Mimi took my suggestion seriously. She explained that she could do it, but that I would lose tons of beautiful fabric and panels that I loved about the dress in the first place. I took her advice to leave the shape as it was and add a built in brassiere Two fittings later, I have the dress of my dreams at a reasonable price in plenty of time for my wedding. The whole process of dropping off the dress, adding cap sleeves, built in cups, taking it in several sizes, and placing FIVE button and loop bustles took her from March 12th to April 6th. I took my bridesmaid dress in to shortened the length and the straps. Mimi helped me and sounded like she knew what she was doing. I paid around $70 for this service. I received my dress within a week but the length was uneven and the straps were still too long. For that price and an easy request, you would think they would get it done right. Thought I'd give this place a try but for future alterations, I'm better off driving 15 miles further north to ASAP Alterations in Bothell. The lady there has always done a great job with my alterations within a reasonable amount of time. read more

I was referred to Mimi at Bellevue Alterations by a couple of co-workers to alter my all lace wedding dress. Extensive alterations needed to be done basically everywhere except the bust. Mimi went above and beyond my expectations. Not only was the finished product perfect, she did it much faster than other places had quoted me and for less and she added a bustle. Unbelievably rude!! The alterations were fine. Here's what happened to us... Front counter girl was abrupt and unfriendly. We went in for a hem on a dress and a shortening of cuffs on a men's jacket. After the markings were done and we were ready to check out, she asked if a particular date for pick-up will work. My girlfriend says, "Well, no, we have to have it for a wedding the weekend prior to that." The counter girl said, "Okay, well you could have just said no." We paid for a rush fee for within a week, and she told us that would be $109 total. My girlfriend and I just looked at each other astonished. My girlfriend said, "$109 for a dress hem and shortening cuffs on one jacket?" The counter girl said, "Well... those are our prices so decide what you want to do." Because of the time rush, we decided to just go with it. When leaving, we actually said "Have a good day!" We did get a "You too" out of the girl at the counter (No "Thank you for coming in" or anything similar). When my girlfriend picked up our order, she told the middle-aged seamstress that had actually done the work, "You know, when we brought this in, the girl at the counter was really rude." The seamstress (We think probably her mother) just said, hmmm. My girlfriend said that she just will never come back to a business where people are so rude. On her way out, the seamstress said, "Thank you for never coming back!" Unbelievable!! This place is one of those businesses that exemplifies why every business needs a nearby competitor! They are so busy, from lack of local competition, that they really value no single customer, which means they really don't value ANY customer! read more

Had a very bad experience with Bellevue Alterations and the owner Mimi. Paid $350 for a sample with a pattern which is pretty steep. Mimi enthusiastically convinced me that she was capable of doing it. Then because of constant personal drama, she completely withdrew from the project and gave it to others. The pattern came out completely worthless and cannot be used for producing more pieces which was the whole point of paying this much money. On top of it, I spent 2 months going back and forth trying to get it right. I wasted my time and money. Beware. Mimi over promises and under delivers. They be ok for simple alterations projects but do not get sucked into design, pattern and production with them. Not the right place. The attitude is also not good. I was very flexible with Mimi. She didn't even return my phone calls when I was trying to get her to redo the pattern. Be careful. read more
