I really enjoyed working with Alina - I had bought my wedding dress consigned since I am working with a tight wedding budget, and had no idea that alterations would be so costly. I had gone to several tailors in the area, all quoting me prices that were over half of what I spent on the dress (one even charged more than the cost of the dress). Even though Alina charges a non-refundable fitting fee (I was a little surprised as this was not obvious during our initial conversation), but I felt that the fitting fee was justifiable as no else took the same time and attention that Alina took during our initial fitting to try and see what alteration may work. During our fitting, she gave me different bra cups to try on, fanned our my train neatly, and pinned my sleeves to offer me as-close-as-possible visualization of what would be altered. I decided to use Alina right away as she was able to empathize from the client's point of view, and didn't recommend more work than necessary to ensure a budget friendly and effective solution. I was told by my bridal shop and other tailors that tailoring a wedding dress would require at least three months, but as Alina specialized in only wedding gowns, I was able to get my altered dress within a month and leave me enough time to take my dress for veil shopping. Alina is incredible. She created a beautiful custom sleeve and did alterations on my 5-layer wedding dress on a short timeline. Long story short, the original alterations company (not Alina) that was going to handle my order could no longer take the job, and I only had 6 weeks before the wedding to find a new seamstress to do alterations (12 weeks is closer to standard). I reached out to Alina, who took the time to understand my dress's construction and asked questions on the current hem, which gave me confidence on moving forward her. The alterations I wanted were: (1) Standard length and bodice adjustments, (2) Significantly shorten the train, (3) Provide bust support, (4) Design/create/attach custom sleeves to the dress that would also be removable halfway through the wedding night. She provided different options so I could make cost-effective decisions and still achieve the look I wanted. She also reviewed a lot of sleeve pictures with me to ensure she would build a sleeve that had the right level of poof vs structure I was requesting, as there was no existing pattern piece for it. DO NOT USE! I am so disappointed/sad to have to write this review. I had a horrible experience working with Alina and have been ignored when I reached out to her for her to make this right. I took my wedding dress to Alina after asking my dress shop for a referral on the Eastside, looking back I would have driven way out of my way to avoid this experience. I was immediately taken back when I reached out and she texted me novels about why she might not be able to work on my dress, but to still bring it in for a non refundable $80 consultation fee... When arriving she did not do a comprehensive look at my dress, she assessed a few parts charged me over $1300. After this appointment she proceeded to text me novels with screenshots and conversations with others justifying her prices. RED FLAG I should have taken my dress and gone elsewhere. I come back again after she had completed some of the work and I began feeling so sad and unhappy with my dress after seeing what it was turning into. At this time she goes "oh we didn't take care of the hem last time" and then quoted me $420 for a hem, I said I would take my dress and get second opinions. She said she wanted to make it "work" for me and took $100 off. I come back after she "completed" the hem, was going to charge me even MORE money to sew the lace back onto the bottom of the dress. I finally stood up for myself and asked her to complete the hem I paid for and I would like to take my dress. That night at 3am I received the most unprofessional texts and excuses from her. It was her effort to put things in writing after her plan to take advantge of me was falling apart. I picked up my dress the next day and was pressured to text in writing that I was happy with the work she did in order to leave with my dress. I am no longer using that dress and am out over $1700. I have since worked with another seamstress to complete work on a new dress. I first came to Alina back in June 2016. My friend was getting married in California, and I was supposed to do fly out in less than 36 hours to be her bridesmaid. When I got the dress the first time, it fit pretty well. Sadly, days before the wedding, when I tried it on again (at night when everything's closed), the zipper couldn't zip. I was mortified with the thought that I could be walking around at the beginning with my dress partly zipped and my bra showing. Plus, I'm sure the bride wouldn't be too happy with it. I think it'd be a bit different if the wedding were local. I could possibly have a few more days to get it altered. Well, I was supposed to work the next couple of days, during business hours for most tailors. I desperately sent out requests for anyone who could help. Alina responded that night. She empathized with my situation, and despite it being in the wee hours of the night (I'm pretty sure it was after midnight), she invited me to her work space in her house. She had me try on the dress and saw what she needed to do. Since I was flying out on Thursday morning (it was Wed at like 1 am), she said she could have it done by the time I'd be done with work. She ended up pulling an all nighter to get my dress done. She turned the dress into a corset style dress with a beautiful ribbon bow that would tie at the bottom. Her handiwork was so beautiful. Wouldn't even know it didn't come like that. Anyway, I was so thankful with her work. My biggest fear is putting on so much weight that I can't fit into something at the last minute. So... Now that it's my turn to be engaged and get married... I'm going back to the same person who knows how to fix it.... And make it look amazing! I contacted her again (before I even started to look for dresses), and she gave me some really helpful advice. She said to start shopping now because the whole process takes a while to order the dress and to alter. And she was even able to give some insight as to what materials are hard to alter (so that I can keep that in mind when looking at the dresses... See, the bride wants what the bride wants, and my sister only wanted dresses from J. Crew that didn't come in my size. I ordered the largest size they had and began the hunt for a good seamstress. Even though she's in Bellevue and I'm in West Seattle, I chose Alina because she had five star reviews on every site I checked and had done a lot of work with formal and wedding attire. I didn't want to risk my dress on someone who had less than stellar reviews. We talked about what needed to be done, Alina took a look at the dress, gave me a price that was right around where I figured it would be (quite frankly, she should have charged me more), and she got started. She was great about texting me pictures of the dress at different stages--including when it was completely cut in half-- and worked with me through three dress fittings until I had a dress that not only fit, but looked like it had, in fact, come in my size in the first place. On Sunday, May 29, I searched everywhere for a last minute seamstress to fix my long, two piece ball gown. My prom was on Saturday, June 4th and so I contacted every seamstress in Seattle and nobody called back. Until I sent a quote through Yelp to Alina! She contacted me back immediately and said that my dress could be done. My dress is a complicated ball gown and when I went to Nordstrom (where I purchased it), the seamstress there said it could not be done by my prom date. Everyone said it would be $300 or more. Alina was wonderful to work with. She came recommended by The Dress Theory in Wallingford and she did not disappoint. She is a highly skilled seamstress and offers creative solutions to complex problems in a timely fashion. I brought my gown to her less than a month before the wedding and she scheduled a consult and completed the work within a matter of weeks, keeping me updated along the way. I ended up bringing a second reception outfit to her 2 weeks before the wedding (a body suit and pant) part of which needed to be reconstructed. She fixed the bottom portion of the body suit and re-manufactured in a much more aesthetically pleasing and technically precise way. The only complexity I would say is that Alina schedules via text and handles only cash/money order payments. Purchasing money orders or cash is required which can be tricky because for some of the appointments you do not know how much to bring until you meet with Alina and then she can't move forward after consult without the deposit $ which may require extra trips to bank etc. Overall this didn't detract from the experience a ton, but may be nice in the future to have additional payment options (PayPal, Venmo, CC etc.) and email communication for scheduling etc. read more

I found Alina after I purchased my wedding dress from I Do Bridal - she was the only seamstress on the Eastside that they recommended on their website in February 2018. Note that when I checked again in July 2018, she is no longer included on their website as recommended. I needed straps shortened, the dress hemmed, and a bustle. Alina was quick to respond and easy to get a hold of throughout the process, but we disagreed from the start on how to do the alterations. She insisted that in order to bustle my wedding dress, she needed to shorten the length of my train significantly. I did not have any experience with bustles prior to buying my wedding dress, but was fairly certain that the whole point of a bustle was to get the entire dress up off the floor so the bride could walk and dance without stepping on the dress. Alina drew some pictures and convinced me that in order to get the outcome I wanted, cutting the train was the only option. I left the appointment extremely stressed out and unhappy. So much so that by the time I got home fifteen minutes later, I contacted her asking to not start any work on the dress, that I wanted to get a second opinion, but she claimed she had already started working on it. Long story short, when Alina finished the alterations (including cutting my train), there was still a significant amount of train on the floor when the dress was bustled (see photo), which was not what we discussed. I ended up taking my dress somewhere else after the fact, and they were horrified that she cut the train. Within two days of going to a different seamstress I had a completely different dress, with a two layer bustle that got every inch of my train up off the floor, and allowed me to dance on my wedding night.
