We needed a last minute appointment and Alina was able to get us in. I am a bride from Portland and she was well worth it. The location is in the basement, but it is in a nice remodeled room, that is specific for a wedding gowns. She did great work and was able to reconstruct my dress. The dress appliqué and she needed to remove them and re-due and it was complicated. Again, she is well worth the time and cost. read more

Alina handled some alterations on an evening gown that I used as my wedding dress - specifically, hemming it and tacking up a sash at the waist. She turned the project around on a tight timeline and it ended up being a great fit. Her attention to detail and professionalism were top notch. I'd recommend her to anyone in need of bridal or other formal alterations! read more

When my wedding dresses arrived from anthropology, it didn't fit correctly. I reached out to Alina and trusted her to fix my wedding dress for me. This is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only was she professional, she was kind, respectful and listened. She worked on my dress in a timely manner. My wedding dress looked better than I ever imagined. I felt pretty on my wedding day all because of her. On top of giving Alina 5 stars, I recommend her to everyone that I know who wants to have their clothes altered professionally. This was the best decision I made for my wedding. To everyone looking for a seamstress, You truly won't regret spending your money with Alina. read more

The Seamstress - My wedding dress - Sewing & Alterations Near Me

Alina did an amazing job on my wedding dress. I bought a used dress from Brides for a Cause in Seattle - it fit nearly perfectly but was a few inches too short and the cups needed to adjusted. Alina was able to make the front of my dress longer by removing the bottom lace, flipping it upside down, and hand sewing it back on. She also made the train shorter for me and added structure to the bust with some well-placed cups. I enjoyed working with Alina because she can tell you realistically what is possible with your dress, but can also creatively support your vision. Thank you Alina for making the big day perfect! read more

I used to live in Bellevue and go to Alina and use her services. Now since I live farther I tried other seamstresses, and I have to say, I am going back to Alina, PERIOD! She tells me everything before hand. She inform me before I have to make decisions. She doesn't shock me with any surprises like some do. She has me agree to and pay for the work before she starts any alteration. She helped me decide if the item is worth working on or return it and get another one that fits. Unfortunately, there are times when I could not get fitted items. That's where I make the expensive decisions. That's when I reach out to Alina, and drive the extra miles to her. I recommend you do your homework but also learn from my mistakes. read more

Alina is wonderful. She altered my wedding dress beautifully with great attention to detail. She also was mindful of when I needed my dress complete by and ensured it was ready with plenty of time. About two years later, she helped me take out a bridesmaids dress. i somehow mixed up the sizing when I ordered it and it was far too small (could get it on but wouldn't zip fully). once again, she was mindful of when I needed it complete and was wonderful to work with. Alina is so talented and I couldn't recommend her more! read more

I really enjoyed working with Alina - I had bought my wedding dress consigned since I am working with a tight wedding budget, and had no idea that alterations would be so costly. I had gone to several tailors in the area, all quoting me prices that were over half of what I spent on the dress (one even charged more than the cost of the dress). Even though Alina charges a non-refundable fitting fee (I was a little surprised as this was not obvious during our initial conversation), but I felt that the fitting fee was justifiable as no else took the same time and attention that Alina took during our initial fitting to try and see what alteration may work. During our fitting, she gave me different bra cups to try on, fanned our my train neatly, and pinned my sleeves to offer me as-close-as-possible visualization of what would be altered. I decided to use Alina right away as she was able to empathize from the client's point of view, and didn't recommend more work than necessary to ensure a budget friendly and effective solution. I was told by my bridal shop and other tailors that tailoring a wedding dress would require at least three months, but as Alina specialized in only wedding gowns, I was able to get my altered dress within a month and leave me enough time to take my dress for veil shopping. Overall, I appreciated Alina's efficiency, reasonable and transparent quote process, and felt that I could really trust my dress is in the right hands with her years of wedding gown alteration experience. read more

Alina is incredible. She created a beautiful custom sleeve and did alterations on my 5-layer wedding dress on a short timeline. Long story short, the original alterations company (not Alina) that was going to handle my order could no longer take the job, and I only had 6 weeks before the wedding to find a new seamstress to do alterations (12 weeks is closer to standard). I reached out to Alina, who took the time to understand my dress's construction and asked questions on the current hem, which gave me confidence on moving forward her. The alterations I wanted were: (1) Standard length and bodice adjustments, (2) Significantly shorten the train, (3) Provide bust support, (4) Design/create/attach custom sleeves to the dress that would also be removable halfway through the wedding night. She provided different options so I could make cost-effective decisions and still achieve the look I wanted. She also reviewed a lot of sleeve pictures with me to ensure she would build a sleeve that had the right level of poof vs structure I was requesting, as there was no existing pattern piece for it. She totally nailed it! I had x3 alteration appointments with her and picked up my finished dress within ~3 weeks. She was very accommodating on evening appointments for my work schedule. Not only was she incredibly fast with the alterations and her responsiveness, but the quality of her work is amazing, and she is such a delightful and compassionate person to work with. I can't recommend Alina enough. Trust her with your dress and don't waste your time/stress going anywhere else! read more

If you're getting alterations to a piece of clothing you care about, go to Alina. She really knows what she's doing and takes care with her alterations. She specializes in wedding attire, but I had a pair of suit shorts that were too long and too baggy. When she was done with them, they were a perfect fit! She also responded quickly to my Yelp request. I highly recommend Alina for all your altering needs. You won't be disappointed :) read more

Alina was wonderful, well priced, and quick! My wedding dress needed to be altered on the bottom and it doesn't look any different than how I purchased it. Alina did my wedding dress. She was recommended to me by TheDressTheory in Seattle as one of the best. I just wanted to express on Yelp how happy I am with Alina, to let the community know where they could get the best service at. She texts and very responsive. Her prices are reasonable as in comparison with other seamstresses who charged me 100$ per hour for my previous projects. Alina is better quality and better price. Almost half less what others charge on wedding dress alterations. And I love working with her because of her personality. She is easy to work with, and I will not go anywhere else. Allthough Alina specializes in wedding dress alterations only I will be going back to alter few more formal dresses which she does. The best time to take them to her is during holidays when it's not the wedding season and she is not as booked up. Just letting everyone know this detail, as I know how busy she is in the summers. She takes the big projects. Projects that unexpected seamstresses won't even look at. Alina graduated both sewing and business school and has more than 30 years of experience in wedding and formal wear alterations, including suits. read more

Alina did a great job for me in a limited time frame. She was dedicated, communicative, and detail oriented. I'm so glad I went with her for my wedding dress. On the day of it fit like a glove. As an example of her attention to detail, she had me try on like 40 different bra cups before deciding on the perfect pair to sew into my dress. She wants perfection and that's what you need for a wedding gown. Her place was easy to find, easy to park, and texting with her was always quick and clear. Alina was wonderful. She was recommended to me by the Dress Theory where I purchased my dress. When my dress finally came from the Dress Theory, it was large! I knew a lot of alterations had to happen. I had to pull in the waist, shorten the length, add in cups, shorten the straps, and add a bustle! There was just so much that had to happen. She was really responsive over FB Messenger and she always sent me photos she took during the fitting which really helps me ask for second opinions and take time to think about my options more. We had three fittings over all, but she really said as many fittings as it takes. She works quickly but also meticulously. You can tell by the way she talks that she really wants things to look absolutely perfect and it shows in her work. My dress now fits like a dream and looking back on the first fitting I'm blown away at how much work she was able to accomplish in 2 months. For me the overall cost was steep, but really I had a lot of things to fix. Alina's prices were fair and she was always very upfront about what each thing would cost, even before I met with her for my first fitting. I'd definitely go back again for any of my tailoring needs. read more

In need of a very last minute hemming on a homecoming dress for my daughter, I crossed my fingers and searched on Yelp for someone who was available and capable. I reached out to Alina and received a very quick response to my inquiry. She was clear in her communication before our appointment, and completely put us at ease when we arrived at her studio. She took time to ask questions and offered her expertise and opinion when we asked for it. She did a great job and did it quickly. I know she works on much bigger and more complicated alteration projects than our high school homecoming dress (i.e bridal dresses), but she treated us as though our project and my daughter's comfort in her homecoming dress was just as important. I won't hesitate to trust Alina in the future for any alteration project. She was a pleasure to work with. read more

DO NOT USE! I am so disappointed/sad to have to write this review. I had a horrible experience working with Alina and have been ignored when I reached out to her for her to make this right. I took my wedding dress to Alina after asking my dress shop for a referral on the Eastside, looking back I would have driven way out of my way to avoid this experience. I was immediately taken back when I reached out and she texted me novels about why she might not be able to work on my dress, but to still bring it in for a non refundable $80 consultation fee... When arriving she did not do a comprehensive look at my dress, she assessed a few parts charged me over $1300. After this appointment she proceeded to text me novels with screenshots and conversations with others justifying her prices. RED FLAG I should have taken my dress and gone elsewhere. I come back again after she had completed some of the work and I began feeling so sad and unhappy with my dress after seeing what it was turning into. At this time she goes "oh we didn't take care of the hem last time" and then quoted me $420 for a hem, I said I would take my dress and get second opinions. She said she wanted to make it "work" for me and took $100 off. I come back after she "completed" the hem, was going to charge me even MORE money to sew the lace back onto the bottom of the dress. I finally stood up for myself and asked her to complete the hem I paid for and I would like to take my dress. That night at 3am I received the most unprofessional texts and excuses from her. It was her effort to put things in writing after her plan to take advantge of me was falling apart. I picked up my dress the next day and was pressured to text in writing that I was happy with the work she did in order to leave with my dress. I am no longer using that dress and am out over $1700. I have since worked with another seamstress to complete work on a new dress. After seeing the work she did from pictures and hearing my experience, they concluded that she took the easy route in terms of all the alterations all while overcharging me and taking advantage of me. read more

I had a custom made tuxedo that was late. I had to order a last minute tuxedo from Nordstrom and try to get it tailored 2 days before an event. I reached out to Alina and was able to get a tuxedo altered within a few hours. It was very last minute but the work done was incredible. Not only was the tux perfectly altered, but the turnaround was great. We were able to work out a fair price for the, understandably, tough timeline that worked for both of us. As I understand it she also does not typically work on mens garments so this made it an exceptionally unusual circumstance. She was delightful. 10/10, would recommend to anyone. read more

Alina did incredible work on altering my wedding gown!! I felt so beautiful that day because of how she was able to fit my dress to me like a glove and I was so comfortable the entire night too. I was recommended to her by my dress shop I Do Bridal. She was such a professional and communicated exactly what her alteration plans and limitations were for what I was asking/had been envisioning. She takes the effort to keep her studio so clean and organized understanding the significance for her clients of the type of dresses she's working on. I had no doubt she was going to get mine and my maid of honors dress completed in plenty of time for the wedding date. We did a few fittings to get all the details just right and she was quick with sharing any photos taken. Those are memories I've already looked back on and smiled! I first came to Alina back in June 2016. My friend was getting married in California, and I was supposed to do fly out in less than 36 hours to be her bridesmaid. When I got the dress the first time, it fit pretty well. Sadly, days before the wedding, when I tried it on again (at night when everything's closed), the zipper couldn't zip. I was mortified with the thought that I could be walking around at the beginning with my dress partly zipped and my bra showing. Plus, I'm sure the bride wouldn't be too happy with it. I think it'd be a bit different if the wedding were local. I could possibly have a few more days to get it altered. Well, I was supposed to work the next couple of days, during business hours for most tailors. I desperately sent out requests for anyone who could help. Alina responded that night. She empathized with my situation, and despite it being in the wee hours of the night (I'm pretty sure it was after midnight), she invited me to her work space in her house. She had me try on the dress and saw what she needed to do. Since I was flying out on Thursday morning (it was Wed at like 1 am), she said she could have it done by the time I'd be done with work. She ended up pulling an all nighter to get my dress done. She turned the dress into a corset style dress with a beautiful ribbon bow that would tie at the bottom. Her handiwork was so beautiful. Wouldn't even know it didn't come like that. Anyway, I was so thankful with her work. My biggest fear is putting on so much weight that I can't fit into something at the last minute. So... Now that it's my turn to be engaged and get married... I'm going back to the same person who knows how to fix it.... And make it look amazing! I contacted her again (before I even started to look for dresses), and she gave me some really helpful advice. She said to start shopping now because the whole process takes a while to order the dress and to alter. And she was even able to give some insight as to what materials are hard to alter (so that I can keep that in mind when looking at the dresses... And I get approximate what the alteration costs would be. She even offered to review any pictures I take in possible dresses to give me an idea of what the alteration cost and difficulty of each dress! (She even said she can try to "stand by" to see the pictures when I go dress shopping.) How sweet! Anyway, I can't wait to see the work she'll do on my wedding dress! I know she works hard for her clients. Given what she's done for me, and the fact that I texted her around 8:30, and she was still with a client. Definitely someone willing to reach out to for your alteration needs, especially for big important days! She really knows what she's doing and cares! read more

Alina did a fabulous job with the alterations on my bridesmaids dress. And I'm not talking little, easy alterations. I'm talking total dress reconstruction, here. See, the bride wants what the bride wants, and my sister only wanted dresses from J. Crew that didn't come in my size. I ordered the largest size they had and began the hunt for a good seamstress. Even though she's in Bellevue and I'm in West Seattle, I chose Alina because she had five star reviews on every site I checked and had done a lot of work with formal and wedding attire. I didn't want to risk my dress on someone who had less than stellar reviews. We talked about what needed to be done, Alina took a look at the dress, gave me a price that was right around where I figured it would be (quite frankly, she should have charged me more), and she got started. She was great about texting me pictures of the dress at different stages--including when it was completely cut in half-- and worked with me through three dress fittings until I had a dress that not only fit, but looked like it had, in fact, come in my size in the first place. On the day of the wedding, you couldn't tell it had been massively altered. My husband also had her alter his suit (pants and jacket), and she did a great job on that too. I can't recommend Alina enough. She made a scary alterations situation very painless and I will definitely use her again. I have been and will continue to tell everyone I know how fantastic she is! read more

On Sunday, May 29, I searched everywhere for a last minute seamstress to fix my long, two piece ball gown. My prom was on Saturday, June 4th and so I contacted every seamstress in Seattle and nobody called back. Until I sent a quote through Yelp to Alina! She contacted me back immediately and said that my dress could be done. My dress is a complicated ball gown and when I went to Nordstrom (where I purchased it), the seamstress there said it could not be done by my prom date. Everyone said it would be $300 or more. However when I made my way to Alina, we came up with an alternative solution to raise the fabric up and it came out PERFECT. It looked even better than the original. And it was only $110!!! My height is 5"0ft and it looks beautiful. Thank you Alina! I would definitely go back to her. She has a great eye and mind for fixing my dress! Alina was wonderful to work with. She came recommended by The Dress Theory in Wallingford and she did not disappoint. She is a highly skilled seamstress and offers creative solutions to complex problems in a timely fashion. I brought my gown to her less than a month before the wedding and she scheduled a consult and completed the work within a matter of weeks, keeping me updated along the way. I ended up bringing a second reception outfit to her 2 weeks before the wedding (a body suit and pant) part of which needed to be reconstructed. She fixed the bottom portion of the body suit and re-manufactured in a much more aesthetically pleasing and technically precise way. The only complexity I would say is that Alina schedules via text and handles only cash/money order payments. Purchasing money orders or cash is required which can be tricky because for some of the appointments you do not know how much to bring until you meet with Alina and then she can't move forward after consult without the deposit $ which may require extra trips to bank etc. Overall this didn't detract from the experience a ton, but may be nice in the future to have additional payment options (PayPal, Venmo, CC etc.) and email communication for scheduling etc. read more

My wedding planner recommended Alina to me and I was very satisfied. I was lucky that my dress was already a pretty good fit, so Alina only shortened the straps, sewed in cups, and put in a bustle. Alina was fantastic to work with- I would recommend her to any friend or family member of mine! I had a tight timeline and she was able to accommodate me, even if that meant meeting early in the morning or late at night. She was easy to communicate with via text and always responded very quickly. During my first fitting, she was very straight forward about what could be done as well as the end result. She was not pushy at all and was open to hearing exactly what I wanted to change, however, was very honest about how much work would be required / if it would actually achieve the end result I was looking for- which was greatly appreciated! Because of this, our fitting sessions usually lasted the full hour, but I always felt like we talked through all options and I knew exactly what was going to happen. I found Alina after I purchased my wedding dress from I Do Bridal - she was the only seamstress on the Eastside that they recommended on their website in February 2018. Note that when I checked again in July 2018, she is no longer included on their website as recommended. I needed straps shortened, the dress hemmed, and a bustle. Alina was quick to respond and easy to get a hold of throughout the process, but we disagreed from the start on how to do the alterations. She insisted that in order to bustle my wedding dress, she needed to shorten the length of my train significantly. I did not have any experience with bustles prior to buying my wedding dress, but was fairly certain that the whole point of a bustle was to get the entire dress up off the floor so the bride could walk and dance without stepping on the dress. Alina drew some pictures and convinced me that in order to get the outcome I wanted, cutting the train was the only option. I left the appointment extremely stressed out and unhappy. So much so that by the time I got home fifteen minutes later, I contacted her asking to not start any work on the dress, that I wanted to get a second opinion, but she claimed she had already started working on it. Long story short, when Alina finished the alterations (including cutting my train), there was still a significant amount of train on the floor when the dress was bustled (see photo), which was not what we discussed. I ended up taking my dress somewhere else after the fact, and they were horrified that she cut the train. Within two days of going to a different seamstress I had a completely different dress, with a two layer bustle that got every inch of my train up off the floor, and allowed me to dance on my wedding night. My lesson learned - if something does not feel right, it probably is not. Get a second opinion and do not let anyone cut your train shorter! read more

Alina did a beautiful job taking in my one shoulder bridesmaid dress. She both shortened the bodice and took in the zipper. Now my dress fits me like a glove. Not to mention, it was done in 2 days! $100 to take in both sides of the zipper (2 sizes, though) and $55 to shorten the strap, so not inexpensive, but quality seamstress work never is.
