After they have done a wonderful job on altering my bridesmaids dresses in the past, I was excited to bring my wedding dress in for an alteration. I brought mine in 2 months prior to my wedding (as advised) and came in 4 times to get it altered vs just 2. First time was to ensure the length of the dress and that the dress snugged on to me comfortblably. Second time was to ensure that the cups snug onto me so that i didnt show too much cleavage. Unfortunately, for my second visit she didnt even know I was arriving even though we agreed on that date. This was frustrating as I have driven 45 minutes to come here and nothing was done. She said she would make it up to me. My 3rd visit, the cleavage wasnt adjusted properly so we had to visit a 4th time! Thankfully, this was the last visit and it ended up PERFECT. She didnt charge me for the extra work due to miscommunication and i thank her for it. Despite the hiccups, i will continue to come here for any dress alterations. I appreciate how we resolved the issues and came to a mutual understanding before the wedding. She made it work in time! read more

I had a tight deadline and lots of challenges finding a mother of the Bride dress online for a fall wedding with summer dresses in the stores in June. After ordering multiple dresses online that did not fit, I had one identified that would work but required some tricky alterations due to the structure and lining of the dress. Yelena was the seamstress who helped me and she did an excellent job of looking at the line of the dress, the corrections needed to improve the way the design of the dress fit me. These people saved the day! I needed a very fast turn around for tailoring a suit that came late. They were quick to respond on Yelp and I went in to get fitted the next day. He was very knowledgeable about how the suit should look for different purposes (casual, formal, etc.) and explained pricing up front. I decided to shorten the sleeves and length of the suit as well as hem the pants. I reached out to American Freestyle Alternations via Yelp to get an estimate for a dress alteration. They were prompt to reply and guaranteed that they would be able to finish the project before the deadline. No appointment was needed and they said I was free to walk-in for a fitting and estimate. I drove to their address in Yelp and Google in Bellevue, WA only to be greeted with an empty storefront. They moved their business to Redmond, WA without giving any notice online or via Yelp. The new location is only 10 minutes away. When I arrived, there was no business logo or signs to indicate their store front. Took about 10 minutes to roam the parking lot for the store. I went inside and waited for someone to greet me. There was someone in the back room- I could hear their music and physically even seen them move around. After 5 minutes, I did try to grab their attention and we even made eye contact but they proceeded to ignore me and not even acknowledge me. And this point, I went ahead and booked a Nordstrom alternation appointment in their lobby because I received no help. read more

I researched some alterations places around the area to trust with my bridesmaid gown - I haven't been to a tailor yet in Seattle so I wanted to choose carefully. Happy to say my choice was great! Originally, I just wanted to shorten it and see if it could be taken out in the waist area, but when I put it on, she showed me all the things she would do to make it fit better. They were all valid, but I will say if you're more quiet like me you do have to stand your ground on what you would and wouldn't like to do. I didn't feel pressured at all, she just feels strongly about what would make it better. We ended up shortening it, adjusting the neckline, taking it out to be more comfy, and putting in breast pads so I wouldn't have to wear a bra. It seems like she can do anything like this in a week. Even when I brought additional dresses, they were all ready the next week to try. It took a total of 2 visits for the bridesmaid dress because of the different changes. I'm happy with my dresses, but I do need to return to close up one of my dresses on the inside, theres a small section that hasn't been sewn back. read more

They were very responsive. I was able to bring my dress in without waiting a long period and the work was done well and within a week. The customer service was excellent. I had my baby with me when I picked up my dress, and not only did she help keep my baby calm while I tried on the dress, she also helped me get hot water to make a bottle and helped me carry the dress to my car because my hands were full. I'm so happy with the alterations Natalya made on my wedding dress! My dress needed the straps shortened, hemmed, and extra fabric added to the bust. Natalya listened to what I wanted and worked diligently to make the dress fit to perfection. I visited 4 times to get the length just right. I was concerned about finding a matching fabrIc to use on the bust, but Natalya found something perfect to make me feel more comfortable in the plunging neckline. She also added a special secret blue flower on the inside of the lining to be my "something blue!" She was great to work with and made me feel comfortable during all my fittings. I am not happy with my experience getting my wedding dress altered at AFA. I Have a crepe dress with an open back and I came into AFA to see if they could help me alter the dress to tighten the top. Myra, the seamstress I worked with, let me now she could get the dress to fit better by opening up the entire dress and sewing it back together. Upon pick up, I noticed several disappointing things: - seams on dress were not straight and wrinkly - pencil marks on seams which I was told wouldn't come out - poor fit in top( was claimed it was because I had "lost weight" when I hadn't ) Had to leave my dress there again to try to fix these things, and ended up having to come back 4-5 times, finally picking up my dress the day before leaving for my wedding. The end result was still Not satisfactory. The dress looked worn out on the top from so much touching and had lost its crisp white color. The seams were still not straight and were very obvious they had been altered from the original, elegant style of the dress. I was most disappointed in my interactions. When voicing my concern, Myra claimed it was my fault For wanting to make adjustments. After the first round of alterations, my straps were falling off my shoulders and the cup she had sewn is was way too big, but she told me to just wear fashion tape to try to hold things up. I wouldn't recommend trusting this location with your wedding dress. read more

She also took the extra fabric and helped cover the bust area (I have a larger bust and did not want cleavage to show!). She knew what she was doing and made it look wonderful. Although it is a bit expensive, I'm not sure I could have gotten such great service and alterations. She was open on Labor day for me! Nataly at the Bellevue location is incredible! I brought my wedding dress in and Nataly jumped right on it. It only took 4 appointments for all of the adjustments to be made, between taking the dress in a few sizes, redoing the cups, making adjustments to the length and the train, etc. And that was because I didn't have my shoes during the first appointment- oops! My perfectly-tailored dress looks amazing and fits like a glove! I really can't recommend Nataly highly enough. She is very kind, her work is excellent, the turnaround time is FAST, and the price is more than fair. If you've got a wedding dress in need of adjustments, look no further! I am so grateful to Anna. It was less than 1 week to go before my wedding and my wedding dress didn't fit. I needed the top taken in and the shoulder straps shortened. However, my wedding dress was an elaborate affair with lace, pearls and sequins all over, and required more effort to alter. All the other alteration shops didn't want to work on my dress on such a short timeline. But Anna agreed to help me even though she had a lot of other alterations to work on. She finished the alterations in 5 days and the fit was perfect. She got it exactly right on the first try, which isn't always the case with some tailors I've been to. Came in to fix a bridesmaid outfit custom made in the Philippines. My friend the bride, wanted to custom make all our bridesmaid outfits in the Philippines and asked us to measure out our bodies. This was a bit unfamiliar to me so I had my seamstress aunt measure me out thinking the outfit would turn out perfect. Sadly, when I got the outfit, everything was wrong. The top was too big and boxy, and the "midi" skirt was at this awkward unflattering length.. I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend money to fix it because it was just for my friend's wedding but I ended up trying the outfit on and on again and finally saying I need to fix it to make me feel comfortable at least. American Freestyle Alterations was amazing! I called in one day to see if they were busy and they told me to come right on in. The woman who helped me was amazing, she was just like anyone's foreign aunt who was brutally honest but very warm and charming. She told me what she thought of it, what made sense to do, and that the turn around time for fixing a top and shortening a skirt would only be one week! I was expecting a month but one week was great. I paid about $80 for the alterations because both my skirt and top were double layered. This was a really fair price seeing that hemming jeans are usually around $35 at Nordstroms anyway. And I loved her attitude--while these outfits would have scared away other tailors (think heavy, layered fabric with tons of embroidery and beading), she was up for the challenge. Natalya was also very transparent about pricing-- she would explain the cheaper vs more expensive options and came up with an alterations plan that kept my budget in mind. I can't say enough about these wonderful women at American Freestyle. Background: I should have listened to my gut when I bought my dress - it felt too small but I was so excited and nervous to find the one that I put confidence in the bridal shop to size me properly. Flash forward months later as I nervously tried the dress back on. I hadn't gained any weight but it was clearly far too small. I worried all was lost as there was no way they could fix my dress and still keep the integrity and beauty that initially struck me to buy it. I was so pleasantly wrong. They were able to take it out and make it fit me like an absolute glove with the extra lace I had on hand. I came in the first a ball of stress and lacking the confidence I wanted in my dress and left loving my dress even more than I had originally envisioned it. However, it was still bulky. Then I decided to take try a new tailor, however; the charge was $185 just for altering the side. You know what, Anna charged me only $60 for it. The work was fabulous. First heard about this store after buying my wedding dress. Their main store in Magnolia actually was listed but after doing some research, I realized they had a Bellevue branch which was amazing since I live in Bellevue and not a fan of having to find street parking in the city. Their store was large and spacious, lots places to try on your clothing before and after alterations. Robert and Anna were both very helpful and prices are comparable to other wedding dress alteration places. Wedding dress fittings are appointment only but I saw a few walk in customers for other items. My alterations were done in about 2 weeks which is much faster than other shops who work on wedding dresses. My dress was very difficult to alter with a lot of embroidered flowers at the top and bottom and the results were amazing, I got so many compliments on my big day. Only downside is that Anna is a little difficult to understand with her accent so make sure she truly understands what you are asking for. read more
