I had two weeks before my wedding and had lost a lot of weight. My dress was ill-fitting, to say the least. Lien not only altered it to fit beautifully, but made me a lace jacket WITHOUT a pattern. She has amazing skills. Her experience is over 35 years and she has worked for a well-known high end retailer doing alterations. Her specialty is women's wear, so I would not ask he to do men's suits or men's tailoring. Bring cash, as that is the only form of payment accepted. I'm hesitant to write a review for Lien because I'm worried the best kept secret in tailoring world will get too busy to take me! BUT, she's awesome. I've taken multiple dresses, including my wedding/reception dress to her and have never ever ever been disappointed. She's fast, and most importantly, she is very reasonable. I got 2 dresses, including a lace dress I was wearing to my reception, done for $60. She can be a little difficult to get a hold of sometimes, and she was late for an appointment here and there but this is a second job she has on top of a full time gig, so I understand. I will have to whole heartedly DISAGREE with the only review on here for Lien. She came highly recommended to me from a friend that has used her for tailoring for a few years. I had an alterations emergency! I called Lien to see if she could do an overnight alteration on a dress that I had ripped, needed at least 2.5 extra inches and a zipper replaced. She said I could drop by at any time that day to have her look at it and she was confident she could help. I was so releived. I went to her place and she had a little dressing area for me. I slipped it on and she looked over it and decided what she needed to do. I returned to her house 24 hours later to find my dress perfectly altered. It fit me like a glove. She even added a zipper in the color of the trim of the dress. I would give her 10 stars if I could. She was very pleasant and professional and went above and beyond to fix my dress. More, she was very reasonable. I had looked around at other alteration places and just to have a zipper replaced, some places were asking for $25!! Lien altered my dress for $30. I had a suit altered and it was alright not the best tailor job I ever had done but it served it's purpose. I went back for a second time. I called her three weeks before I needed a suit for a wedding. She told me to call back in a week. I called back but she didn't pick up. I left a voice mail and she never returned my call. I called again the next day and she said she was going on vacation. I understand we are all human and we need to take vacations but she told me to call back a week later and then couldn't do it? I had to go to another tailor to get the work done last minute. Thank goodness American Freestyle took care of me. read more

I needed alterations on my prom dress during June 2013 and spent a while shopping around for a good place to go for alterations, I eventually found Lien's Alterations on Yelp. I went to two other alterations places before I went to Lien's and both priced the alteration job higher than Lien did. She offered to do it for $40 whereas the other places priced the job at $50 and $75. Clearly a significant difference. Also, I was very surprised with the inexpensive price especially given the fact that my prom dress had 3 layers that needed to be shortened in addition to a train that needed to be shortened. In addition to this, the fabric of my dress was chiffon, which I've heard is harder to work with. Based on the good reviews from Yelp and the inexpensive price, I decided to let Lien do the job! She finished my dress within a week (only a week!) and her craftsmanship was seamless. The dress was the perfect length down to the last millimeter and I could not tell the difference between the original stitching and Lien's. I felt completely beautiful and couldn't have asked for a more perfect job! I would 110% recommend Lien to anyone who is looking for a high quality and inexpensive alteration job. I will definitely be sending my sister back to Lien for her prom dress as well as taking any alteration jobs I need in the future to Lien. **Note: The address looks really suspicious, it takes you to a house in a local Bellevue neighborhood. Don't be afraid, this is just Lien's house. She runs the business out of her garage but she is very welcoming and has a dressing room and full length mirrors as well. I found out a couple weeks later that one of my girlfriends had her prom alterations done by Lien as well. I needed to get my wedding dress pressed and called around the Seattle/ Bellevue area for some quotes. Lien quoted me at $30 and said I just needed to make an appointment the week of my wedding and drop it off and it would only take an hour. Other surrounding places quotes me $80-$145!! I made an appointment on a Sunday morning and arrived a tad early to her house and rang the doorbell. She pointed me downstairs to her studio. I dropped off the dress and came back and hour later to find it beautifully pressed! It was a total of $30 (cash) and she did a great job. She also does alterations which I didn't need but I would definitely recommend her! read more

I just got my wedding gown altered by Lien. My gown fit me well before alterations. I just had to get the cups attached and had it bustled. The first time I went to collect the gown, I was not happy with how the gown stood stood like an armor against my body. But Lien insisted that the gown should look that way. She had also forgotten to bustle at one point. As I still had 4 weeks for the wedding, it did not turn me off a bit. After a week, I went to collect my gown with another friend of mine. Lien just let us in her room of dresses and disappeared. My friend was having trouble in strapping my corset, so I had to call Lien to help her. Lien told us she was very busy, and my friend was doing a fine job and left us alone. Lien came back again after a bit, and my friend had finished strapping the corset, so she asked Lien to teach her how to bustle the dress. Lien got irritated and told us that we have just two minutes to pack the dress and leave. My friend hurriedly started to figure out the bustle and Lien started shouting at her that bustling is simple and why was she having so much trouble. At that point, I lost my patience, and told Lien, we would be out of her place in 2 minutes. I changed back to my clothes immediately, gave her the money and left. I do not know how well she bustled my gown, I do not know if the dress is strapped well, would it still look like an armor on my body, I could not check the dance moves my dance instructor asked me to check when I go for a gown trial. I just could not check my gown again simply because Lien did not let us do that. We spent not more than 20 minutes at Lien's shop/house. Lien told us that she could help my friend as we were taking too much time. She said she just reserves 15 minutes for people to check out their gown. I am fortunate that the gown did not really need any major alterations and it fit me when I bought it. I am still confident I can try out gown at my home once more and take it to another seamstress. Had the gown needed major alterations, I would have been very nervous now. I would not comment on the quality of her work as I still do not know if it has been done well, but I can say that Lien has been extremely rude, and unreasonable with me and my friend. I would VERY HIGHLY recommend Lien. I purchased a full length dress for my daughter's wedding that I knew would need alterations so the shop gave me her name stating this is who they use. The dress is chiffon (very difficult fabric to work with) with ruching on the waist and sleeves. She practically remade the dress, altering the sleeve width and length, the shoulders, the bust, the waist, the length....it was extensive. I was shocked to see what she was able to do, if I hadn't known what work was done, I would have never guessed that the dress was ever altered. Not only did she do an amazing job at a really good price (far less than what I would have expected to pay), she is such a nice person. I've been to her three times now and have always had a great experience and I recommend her to all my friends and family. read more

A friend recommended Lien to me, for a bridesmaid dress alteration a couple years ago and I have to say she is 1) GREAT at what she does and 2) , VERY, VERY reasonable compared to other places! I went back this week to get another dress altered that was too short and to wide. I picked it up yesterday and couldn't be happier with it. She worked her magic and not only does the dress fit, it looks like it came that way!!! She did this all in a few days time. Things to note is that she runs her business out of her home, so while it feels uncomfortable to knock on someone's home door she'll quickly direct you to her little studio where you can try on your apparel and discuss what you want done. She told me she used to work for Nordstom, but likes working out of her home better so she set up shop there. I can see why too- the day I went, her friendly husband was out front gardening and greeted me with a smile and "hello" when I walked up. Also, her English is very good, but it's not her first language - nevertheless, she did exactly what I wanted both times and even hemmed it in a little more on the spot when I showed up to pick it up/try it on. Anyway, I'd highly recommend her- I live in Seattle, but it's worth the drive to me:) read more

Lien was recommended to us by my daughter's nanny as she had done some alterations for her on her wedding dress. Lien did some minor alterations and shortened my daughters wedding dress and my Mother of the Bride dress. She was very nice and completed the work on time. I picked up the dresses since my daughter had to work, and when she tried on the dress it was still too long (my MOB was fine). I called Lien and she asked us to come right over, which we did. She asked us to wait and she fixed it right then. She was gracious all the time and did beautiful work at a reasonable price (plus she steamed the wedding gown for $30). I went to Lien to get a bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in. Her studio, for lack of a better word, is on the ground floor of her home, and has a small, clean, curtained changing area and mirrors. Though it wasn't the busy season, there were still a few wedding and bridesmaid gowns hanging up, and I got the feeling she is kept busy. She is difficult to get a hold of in order to arrange a time for fitting the dress and picking it up when it is finished, but other than that, I couldn't be happier! I just picked up my bridesmaid dress that Lien did come complicated alterations on. The dress had a raw lace trim that needed to be shortened. it also had a zipper that ran down the entire back of the dress that had to be removed so the dress could be taken in. Lien does amazing work. I went to her for some pants to be taken in after I lost weight. The seams she had to work with ran up and down the FRONT of the pants. Without blinking an eye she just started taking the seam in by eyeballing it. It fits perfectly now. And you cannot tell that this pair of pants was not made this way in the first place. Her work is invisible. She works at a large retail clothing store doing alterations and I can see why they hired her. She is the best alterations expert I have ever been to. I read all these great reviews about Lien and her services. Unfortunately I did not have a great experience. The first time I called Lien, she was driving and did not know her schedule, that I can work with - she said she would call me back. She didn't. I called her again and left a message. No return call. I called a third time, left a message, this time she did return my call - and I was unavailable. I called her for the fourth time, she answered and we made an appointment. Today, I showed up for the appointment at our agreed time. No one was there. About five minutes after I arrived, another car pulled up and they said they had an appointment at the same time as I did. The both of us called Lien - no answer. I left her a message that I would not be returning to see her and that I found her very unreliable. I wasted my time trying to get my wedding dress altered by Lien, now I have to look for someone else and I have two weeks before my wedding. read more
