I was so happy to see a Filipino restaurant in ID! The place captures the fun Filipino spirit while keeping it still on the gourmet side. Food was pretty good but servings were a bit on the small side.

Kilig is located on 8th Ave, toward the quieter end of Chinatown, so traffic is noticeably lighter compared to other nearby spots. This restaurant is the sister restaurant of Musang. While it's more affordable than Musang, I still find it a bit pricey for the portion sizes. That said, the restaurant is spotless, and service is fast and attentive. Kilig describes itself as a panciteria, which traditionally refers to an inexpensive, casual Filipino eatery, and a bulalohan, meaning a place that specializes in bulalo (slow-cooked beef shank soup). Personally, I don't fully agree with the "panciteria" label given the pricing. However, despite the smaller portions for what you pay, the food itself was phenomenal. One thing to note: a 20% service charge is automatically added to your bill, whether you're dining solo or in a group. What We Ordered Lumpiang Shanghai Fried pork and shrimp egg rolls filled with water chestnuts and carrots. This is one of the most classic Filipino dishes, and it's hard to go wrong here. These were very crunchy and served with their house-spiced vinegar, simple and satisfying. Sinigang Wings These were just okay. They're standard fried chicken wings with a light salt and vinegar tang. There's an option to make them saucier (hot honey glaze) for an extra $2, which we skipped, but probably shouldn't have. That might have added more flavor. While they were crispy and not dry at all, it's hard to justify $17 for this appetizer. Bulalo Beef Shank Soup A comforting boiled beef shank soup with corn, charred cabbage, and potatoes. The portion size was good, and the bone marrow was delicious. However, some of the beef was on the fattier side, and the broth itself was a bit bland, could've used more salt. Oink Oink Spicy Adobo Our favorite dish of the night, though the portion was disappointingly small. Don't expect a lot of meat. That said, the flavors were excellent: braised pork adobo with baby potatoes, shishito peppers, rice wine vinegar, and spicy habanero. If you're sensitive to heat, definitely eat this with rice, it helps balance the spice. Drinks Tepache Sazón Pineapple Beer Hear me out! I know it's Mexican beer, and we're at a Filipino restaurant. I'm also not a big beer drinker. But this was amazing. It tasted like pineapple juice with a light, fermented kick, refreshing and easy to drink. I'd honestly come back just for this.

This place is the sister restaurant of Musang in International District. We ordered many things to try and sample. The sizzling sisig was very good. The pork shoulder was very soft and tender and lots of flavor with a slight spicy kick to it. The og palabok was also very good little shrimp and pork ragu, the flavors were very well match with the glass noodles. The sinigang wings and lumpiang Shanghai were also very good albeit a bit pricey for lumpia imo. Fried very well, crispy and flavorful along with the great hot honey dipping sauce. The bulalo beef shank soup was good but felt nothing to write home about. It was very tender but nothing too crazy. The Ube panna cotta desert was excellent! It was not overwhelming in ube and not overwhelming in sweetness and soft. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. She was very accommodating of the kid we had with us for kid friendly utensils which saves many a headache. The decor is cute and has a bit of a bar vibe if anyone is looking for that.

I had no idea about this restaurant. My brother wanted to eat Filipino food, so I found this on Yelp. It was earlier than we would usually eat dinner. I was surprised when the host asked if we had a reservation. It was a little after 4 pm and the restaurant was empty. That should have been my first clue. Music was loud. That should have been my second clue. We had our choice of anywhere we wanted to sit. I chose a table next to the wall. Looking at a the menu I couldn't tell if the food was for individuals or family style. The waitress said they were healthy portions and could be shared. The lumpia was posted at $14. I asked, how many in the order. She said , "four". I must have looked at her like she was crazy. She then said, "they are this long" signifying they were longer than the usual size. Third clue - Lumpia Shanghai are thin. I ordered them anyway. I also ordered the fried chicken wings. She said there are eight to an order. They were supposed to be flavored in tamarind sauce. I asked that they be plain with out the sauce. They were good without the sauce, but I happened to have extra vinegar sauce that came with the lumpia. So I tried it in my chicken. It was the bomb. So far so good. For the main course, I asked if we could order the spicy adobo without the Spicy habanero. She said no that's how it's made. My family obviously comes from a different province. If anything, we add sugar. So we didn't order that. We ended up with Pancit Canton with chicken and Palabok. After the main dished came, we quickly realized we needed steamed rice. I have to admit these dishes were pretty wonderful. We each had second helpings. I was surprised how good the food was until the bill came. They charge a 20 % service charge. The bill came to over $124. I kept thinking about all the frozen lumpia in my freezer at home. Okay I admit the food was very good. Wait staff were friendly, attentive, and not pushy. I would go back, not frequently, but perhaps on special occasions.

Absolutely a wonderful experience. We were visiting from out of town and came across the restaurant when walking around. The food and atmosphere was fantastic. The hospitality and service were unmatched. One of the highlights of our trip. If you are in Seattle you need to stop by.

I got to try the sinigang wings here as part of the CID food walk. They were super crispy and a little crunch even, with a slightly tangy taste. I almost felt like I was eating chips with the specific flavor profile. The wings were nice and juicy though, and I did enjoy them a lot. The inside of this place is quite nice and well decorated - it seems like a good spot to grab a yummy dinner!

As a Filipino-American, I had so much Filipino pride walking into the doors of Kilig since just a seemingly short few years ago there weren't very many sit-down Filipino restaurants with chic and modern interiors to go to in the Seattle area. A common sight were the simple, "turo-turo" counters where food was kept warm under heat lamps. Kilig offers a casual, yet semi-fine dining atmosphere with prices reflecting more of a special occasion outing with humble and traditional Filipino dishes that are given an elevated and often creative twist. Chef/owner Melissa Miranda has helped to lead the charge in changing the Filipino restaurant offerings and landscape in Seattle. Among her three restaurants, and comparing their ambiance and authenticity of the Filipino food they serve, Kilig is the perfect middle ground between Musang (more fine dining and not as traditional) and CheBogz (more casual and traditional). Kilig is located in the Chinatown/International District of Seattle. Expect street parking only, which is free on Sundays and holidays. I enjoyed Kilig's food, ambiance, service, and I think that it is overall "Panalo" (winning in English). I am excited to come back here soon to try more dishes and to simply enjoy the community vibes at this restaurant and support the struggling Chinatown/International District. Food: So good I couldn't stop eating and didn't take a picture of everything Pork Adobo- saucy, tender, and flavorful Lumpia: delicious as well as the sauce that came with it! Perfect crisp! Pancit: had 2 different kinds (classic and the combo...not called that)...both were tasty and filling! Drinks: I forgot the cocktail name but I believe it had rum and lavender ! Refreshing and strong! Definitely recommend this spot to try...the menu isn't huge but you'll find something for sure! Service: Fast and Friendly Ambiance: chill vibe with good music

Super tasty hole in the wall filipino restaurant! The location is in a somewhat obscure corner in Chinatown but the inside decor was nice and food great! I haven't been to too many l Filipino restaurants before but this cuisine is something I definitely enjoyed a ton! The flavors were unique and plating very nice. Staff were super friendly and kind also. We ordered the OG palabok (glass, cornstarch noodles) and the papaya salad. The noodles had a nice bounce and the papaya salad a subtle heat which made it interesting I'll definitely be coming back in the future!

I've been told my opinion about this place is wrong lol. I thought it was ok, a little pricy, and the flavors were definitely punchy but missed the mark a little to me. But that's based on my tastes and not what's authentically filipino. Ex i thought the adobo was soo acidic and sour and apparently that's the right was to do it. I did like the wings! And we weren't sure if we wanted it with sauce or not so they let us get it on the side. And the OG palabak was good too but $20 good? ‍

Cute and vibrant Filipino restaurant. I ordered the pork adobo which was creamy and tangy with well-braised meat. I'm not familiar with Filipino food so I can't speak to the flavor profile except to say it was tasty. You have to order a side of rice as it doesn't come with it even though there is no way you can eat the dish without it as it is way too salty.

You order at the front before being seated which means food arrives shortly after sitting down. With that noted, I wouldn't return to wait that long. First visit, to try a relatively famous spot, sure. Inside is a bit tight, but conversation can be had. My friends got the lumpia-silog and bistek-silog. Lumpia was tasty, but not particularly outstanding. Bistek was dry. The beef was tough to chew, seasoned alright on the outside but likely overcooked if not old. I opted for the oxtail silog which was delicious but pricey. Oxtail Silog - for $29, this plate definitely gets a double take. After waiting in the hour line, I figured I should commit for a tasty meal. Oxtail comes in a side bowl alongside a bit of hearty broth which the rice absorbs well. Meat is tender, falls off the bone, but pulling around oxtail bones isn't the simplest, so definitely have to bite around crevices. All in all, this plate was delicious but think it comes with a huge tourist tax I've had better value for oxtail plates. Ube Pancake Stack - four sizeable pancakes. Some pictures, including my own, don't do these justice. I can definitely get behind the hype. They're drenched in a rich ube sauce and there's plenty to go around. Honestly the ube flavor is present on the pancakes, but it feels relatively faint because the sauce is extremely sweet and flavorful, minimizing the pancake taste and expanding the gap between flavors. That being said, I think I would enjoy the pancakes with less sauce (or preferably, on the side).

Ambiance - Very chill spot, not fussy. indoor seating but would be a little harder with a big group.

That said, we still finished it because the dipping sauce was fantastic and the purple-and-white sticky rice was delicious. The Mango Salad was beautifully prepared with shredded mango that had just the right crunch and tartness. Generous portions served. Even during a busy late afternoon, the chef handled guests with ease and a big smile, serving beautifully executed dishes and cocktails. Very impressive. We'll definitely be bringing friends here next time we're in Seattle. Tip: They do true Thai spice levels here--proceed with caution."

Our office gets a list of the weekly offerings on Monday, so when I heard that later in the week there would be Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen, bringing Filipino food, I most definitely made lunch plans. I was coming in from a meeting in Fremont, so didn't go to the pop-up/Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen as soon as it started service (around 11am). With that said, I nearly missed out on the chicken adobo! I took the last of the chicken adobo an hour and a half after the lunch service started, so was counting my blessings! I ordered the lunch plate, which came with chicken adobo, pancit, rice and pickled veggies. My lunch plate was solid. Chicken adobo was tender and really, really liked how vinegar-y the flavor was, which, any Filipino would tell you that all food tastes better with vinegar! Pancit wasn't bad, but not the best. Some of the noodles were on the dry side, but I did like the cabbage and green onion throughout. Pickled veggies were a nice addition, adding more sour flavor to the overall entree. For someone who hardly ever has Filipino food and desperately misses mom's cooking, I was just happy to have Salu-Salo bring some adobo to the area. I would definitely recommend checking out Salu-Salo if you ever see their stand around. They don't update their social media channels, unfortunately, so is a little difficult to find where their stand will be. And when I asked if they participate in any markets, they do not. But the owners did mention that they visit downtown Seattle often at other office buildings around. Therefore, I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon and getting my Filipino cuisine on. (Plus, bonus points for the owner being from the Bicol region of the Philippines, which is where my mom's side is from. Love that!)

Salu-Salo offers a wide variety of dishes with unique flavor profiles. With some of the dishes, I can't compare them to anything I have ever tried before. For example, my favorite dish on the menu is the Laing Express, which is made with coconut milk, taro leaves, topped with a delicious crispy piece of pork belly. With a topping of pork belly, how could anything go wrong? This dish has an amazing earthy flavor, with a bit of a kick to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. How often to you get to eat purple desserts? Ube cake gets its color from purple yams! Salu-Salo's ube coconut topped ube cheesecake balls are not just adorable, they are addicting. Not overwhelmingly sweet, and perfect for sharing, these are a treat. For those with dietary restrictions, Salu-Salo is a great option because there are plenty choices. As someone who is gluten free, all of the main dishes are fair game. This is often very rare when dining out for me!! Here's to Salu-Salo for exposing Seattleites to what Filipino food is all about. Rosario's cuisine feels like a healthy take on comfort food. Each dish bursting with flavor, yet still accessible to all ages. The idea behind comfort food is all about the thought that goes into the prep. After tasting Salu-Salo's food, I promise you can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation of each dish. I am looking forward to this becoming a Seattle institution, and hope it inspires more Filipino cuisine to start popping up in the PNW.

The staff were super attentive and took time to explain everything to first time visitors. Steady stream of take out orders as seating is limited. Would come back to try the other sides too. My boyfriend got their chicken pot pie and cornpilog while I got their bicol express. Our friend got their bicol express and pork sisig. I did come there as I saw they serve kare kare on Saturdays but apparently not until the afternoon, but we arrived around 10am. We wanted to know what was in their Filipino breakfast as everyone was getting that but we saw that they were re-stocking it but by the time my boyfriend got to order, they were sold out. My boyfriend really loves this place, he says with full confidence that this is one of the best restaurants in Seattle. He demolished his cornpilog, no crumb left behind and pretty much finished the chicken pot pie. The bicol express was absolutely flavorful with the meat being so tender. The bread outside is perfect. Our friend was happily impressed and said he would definitely have to come back to try out more. We wanted to try more, especially their dessert ones! We also got their drinks to go and they had sold out of the ube baby so my boyfriend got their tsokolate mocha and I got the pandan caramel. The drinks were smooth and enjoyable but I felt the flavor was underwhelming, I could barely taste the pandan and even caramel but it was delightful. The inside is very spacious with tables with booths and chairs. They have several types of hot sauces, self-serve water station and a obvious area to place your dirty dishes in. The staff members were very welcoming and ensured that you get everything you wanted. There are restrictions of how many pastries you can get, but it is appreciated as honestly it's hard not to get more than one. They had so many good options to choose from but we ended up getting a spread consisting of the Seattle Dog, Pork Sisig, Garlic Beef Asado, Pork Liempo, Cornsilog, and the Matcha Strawberry Cake. Everything that we had was delicious with familiar Filipino flavors. Overall, I am glad we got the chance to check this spot out. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. You really cannot go wrong with any pastries you order here, but I would highly recommend the Garlic Beef Asado and the Cornsilog. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

It serves classic Filipino comfort food, similar to the likes of Ludi's and Sizzling Asian Grill. The only difference is that this place has been around for a really long time, and is tucked away inside part of Pike Place beyond some groceries and next to a yogurt place. It's noisy around here, and there's limited seating just around the corner of the kitchen and some straight ahead. Menu is pretty small, which is already a good thing since that means the dishes are gonna be high quality. After placing your order, the staff make your food and then call your name out when your food's ready. Both my friend and I got their longanisa plate, which comes with rice and pancit. Rice is standard and has some sauce on it, while the pancit is lightly salted and makes for a great palette cleanser. The real winner was the longanisa, and you get three thick pieces of them for around $18 after tax! Each piece was sweet, tender and juicy all around, and I could see some fat inside when I was biting into each one. They're so packed with flavor that I wish there were five pieces instead! Portions here are deceptively big even though the plate is small, so expect to struggle finishing it if you're not a big eater. I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally try here, and now that I have it's something else to cross off my really long list of Seattle places I've neglected to try over the years. This is Filipino home style food- rustic, rich, flavorful, well seasoned--and after walking all day in the cold rain, it was like coming home. Auntie Lie behind the counter served it like she was issuing a warning, not a meal. Just kidding- she actually was warm and friendly. She said, "you come here before? You know exactly the right things to order". I didn't tell her it was out of fear and admiration for how she handled the tourist in front me. Just kidding . I sat at the side bar, enjoyed my meal and enjoyed reading her many notes and pictures with folk who've been longtime fans. This stall has baked in character, and in the bustle of tourists, eating here and watching it all was a great ambience. Worth it? Yes. This is a must needed spot to visit at pike place. If it isn't, don't tell Auntie Lie.
