Sinigang Wings
Brianna N.

We come for a quick snack because we saw that they had sinigang wings. The inside is beautifully decorated and service was very quick. We ordered and the food came out within 10 minutes. I was a little disappointed with the sinigang wings. It was a dry tamarind sauce and there was an option to add hot honey sauce for $2. We opted in for the sauce on the side. The sauce was pretty spicy. I was hoping for a wet tamarind sauce. It was a bit more on the crunchier side. I definitely want to give this restaurant another try.

Checked out this spot during the CID food walk and probably wouldn't have stumbled upon on it because it's a little off the beaten path away from the main strips of the area, but definitely worth making your way over here. We tried the wings and they were great, staff were super friendly and the decor is super fun inside.

Authentic Filipino cuisine in International District. It is really nice inside with plenty of seating. We were seated quickly for lunch. The menu is small and a bit on the pricey side, to be expected in Seattle. Good vibes with the server/host. Quick order and delivery to the table.

These are the best wings in Seattle. I first tried the Sinigang wings from here in the CID food walk - about a year ago. I was shocked at how good they were, compared to all the other food I had that day. And so I've been trying to get these again ever since then, and finally made it happen. This time, I got them drenched in hot honey (+$3 addon), because why not. These are just spectacular. Even with the copious, viscous hot honey weighing it down - they're still so damn crispy. I shudder to think how unbelievably crispy these would be without the hot honey, but that might ruin crispy wings for me forever - so it's probably good I didn't get that. The frying on these is perfect - from the craggly edges, to the blisters on the skin - everything is phenomenal. The skin turns a deep golden brown that's completely irresistible. It's also crazy how consistent every inch of skin is across all eight wings. What's also super impressive is the meatiness. Most of the wings are large, and have a ton of dark meat to them. And the inside is just perfect - super juicy and arguably some of the best wing meat I've ever had. It's so, so addicting. I could eat sixteen of these wings and be happy. Oh yeah, and the hot honey is amazing as well. Normally, it lands on the sweeter side, but the one here manages to strike the absolute perfect balance between being pretty spicy and having that viscous, sweet, syrupy nature. If all hot honey was like this, I could understand why it became such a big phenomenon. The level of additional flavor it adds to the chicken is remarkable. For eight wings, the cost was just 16 dollars (excluding hot honey) - which is pretty cheap considering how large these are and how good these are. Overall, I don't think it's close that these are the best wings I've had in the city. 9.25/10

Kilig was a wonderful introduction to Filipino cuisine and a restaurant I'd happily recommend to anyone looking for flavorful, comforting food in a casual setting. We ordered the Shroom Shroom Fried Rice with chicken, Pancit Canton noodles with chicken, Fried Oink Oink Adobo, and a Pandan Old Fashioned. The standout dish was easily the Shroom Shroom Fried Rice--packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. The Pancit Canton noodles were another winner, full of savory flavor and perfectly cooked. The Fried Oink Oink Adobo was tangy, rich, and satisfying, though I was surprised it didn't come with a side of rice. For drinks, the Pandan Old Fashioned was well-made with a subtle pandan flavor that complemented rather than overpowered the cocktail. Service was friendly and efficient, and all of the food arrived fresh and surprisingly quickly. The atmosphere is vibrant and casual, with a comfortable dining room and a few bar seats. We made a reservation, but on a Sunday evening there were plenty of open tables, making for a relaxed dining experience. Overall, Kilig delivered flavorful dishes, great cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere. A spot I'd definitely return to explore more of the menu.

The food was decent. The price was not that decent for the portion size. The rice to the adobo ratio was off. The rice was like a giant rice ball in its separate bowl (it's not a problem it's in a separate bowl, just that's how it was served which is fine.) and the adobo itself was a bit saltier than what I expected so having the extra rice would be nice (pretty sure it's an extra charge though considering steamed rice was also listed in the menu as a separate thing. The drink was good though! I enjoyed it even though there was a long chunk of ice in it. It was a punch with ube. The server was nice though and the food came out relatively quick. The interior was nicely decorated and pretty casual. The part that icked me out was the 20% gratuity charge regardless of your party size.

The service was awesome! They were having some burgers event so their menu was just limited to these 3, despite that, their food was good, maybe except for the regular burger. I did like the Ube burger more, because of the longganisa meat. However when my food came my longganisa was a bit undercooked, so I had to return it to the kitchen, and maybe it took another 20mins or so to get it back but I think that was just their timeline because everyone came in at the same time. The owner was super nice enough to gift my mom a bottle of tanduay. My mom has always been looking for one in WA state but couldn't find, she uses this for cooking and surprisingly the owner just gave her a bottle for free. O_O E

A cool Filipino place located in the Chinatown area of Seattle. We came here for a late lunch and ordered a few items to share among the two of us. We order the pancit tinola, shroom shroom fried rice with Chinese sausage, and bulalo soup. The food was enjoyable with the shroom shroom fried rice being my favorite. This place is worth checking out.

Kilig is located on 8th Ave, toward the quieter end of Chinatown, so traffic is noticeably lighter compared to other nearby spots. This restaurant is the sister restaurant of Musang. While it's more affordable than Musang, I still find it a bit pricey for the portion sizes. That said, the restaurant is spotless, and service is fast and attentive. Kilig describes itself as a panciteria, which traditionally refers to an inexpensive, casual Filipino eatery, and a bulalohan, meaning a place that specializes in bulalo (slow-cooked beef shank soup). Personally, I don't fully agree with the "panciteria" label given the pricing. However, despite the smaller portions for what you pay, the food itself was phenomenal. One thing to note: a 20% service charge is automatically added to your bill, whether you're dining solo or in a group. What We Ordered Lumpiang Shanghai Fried pork and shrimp egg rolls filled with water chestnuts and carrots. This is one of the most classic Filipino dishes, and it's hard to go wrong here. These were very crunchy and served with their house-spiced vinegar, simple and satisfying. Sinigang Wings These were just okay. They're standard fried chicken wings with a light salt and vinegar tang. There's an option to make them saucier (hot honey glaze) for an extra $2, which we skipped, but probably shouldn't have. That might have added more flavor. While they were crispy and not dry at all, it's hard to justify $17 for this appetizer. Bulalo Beef Shank Soup A comforting boiled beef shank soup with corn, charred cabbage, and potatoes. The portion size was good, and the bone marrow was delicious. However, some of the beef was on the fattier side, and the broth itself was a bit bland, could've used more salt. Oink Oink Spicy Adobo Our favorite dish of the night, though the portion was disappointingly small. Don't expect a lot of meat. That said, the flavors were excellent: braised pork adobo with baby potatoes, shishito peppers, rice wine vinegar, and spicy habanero. If you're sensitive to heat, definitely eat this with rice, it helps balance the spice. Drinks Tepache Sazón Pineapple Beer Hear me out! I know it's Mexican beer, and we're at a Filipino restaurant. I'm also not a big beer drinker. But this was amazing. It tasted like pineapple juice with a light, fermented kick, refreshing and easy to drink. I'd honestly come back just for this.

This place is the sister restaurant of Musang in International District. We ordered many things to try and sample. The sizzling sisig was very good. The pork shoulder was very soft and tender and lots of flavor with a slight spicy kick to it. The og palabok was also very good little shrimp and pork ragu, the flavors were very well match with the glass noodles. The sinigang wings and lumpiang Shanghai were also very good albeit a bit pricey for lumpia imo. Fried very well, crispy and flavorful along with the great hot honey dipping sauce. The bulalo beef shank soup was good but felt nothing to write home about. It was very tender but nothing too crazy. The Ube panna cotta desert was excellent! It was not overwhelming in ube and not overwhelming in sweetness and soft. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. She was very accommodating of the kid we had with us for kid friendly utensils which saves many a headache. The decor is cute and has a bit of a bar vibe if anyone is looking for that.

What a fun and cute place! Had no idea this existed in ID. The cocktails were great and the portions were pretty filling. They played great music and from the looks of the posters around the restaurant, they host some fun events.

I was so happy to see a Filipino restaurant in ID! The place captures the fun Filipino spirit while keeping it still on the gourmet side. Food was pretty good but servings were a bit on the small side.

I had no idea about this restaurant. My brother wanted to eat Filipino food, so I found this on Yelp. It was earlier than we would usually eat dinner. I was surprised when the host asked if we had a reservation. It was a little after 4 pm and the restaurant was empty. That should have been my first clue. Music was loud. That should have been my second clue. We had our choice of anywhere we wanted to sit. I chose a table next to the wall. Looking at a the menu I couldn't tell if the food was for individuals or family style. The waitress said they were healthy portions and could be shared. The lumpia was posted at $14. I asked, how many in the order. She said , "four". I must have looked at her like she was crazy. She then said, "they are this long" signifying they were longer than the usual size. Third clue - Lumpia Shanghai are thin. I ordered them anyway. I also ordered the fried chicken wings. She said there are eight to an order. They were supposed to be flavored in tamarind sauce. I asked that they be plain with out the sauce. They were good without the sauce, but I happened to have extra vinegar sauce that came with the lumpia. So I tried it in my chicken. It was the bomb. So far so good. For the main course, I asked if we could order the spicy adobo without the Spicy habanero. She said no that's how it's made. My family obviously comes from a different province. If anything, we add sugar. So we didn't order that. We ended up with Pancit Canton with chicken and Palabok. After the main dished came, we quickly realized we needed steamed rice. I have to admit these dishes were pretty wonderful. We each had second helpings. I was surprised how good the food was until the bill came. They charge a 20 % service charge. The bill came to over $124. I kept thinking about all the frozen lumpia in my freezer at home. Okay I admit the food was very good. Wait staff were friendly, attentive, and not pushy. I would go back, not frequently, but perhaps on special occasions.

The pork chop was tender, and went well with the homemade vinegar & garlic sauce. The long lumpia shanghai was GBD, and also went well with the sauce. The longanisa had a texture that reminded me of childhood, and the Ilocos sausage (that is less fatty), was a nice contrast. Lastly, the savory corned beef was a good way to finish the big portion of garlic rice. I def needed a nap after this meal. Regarding the ambiance, its a small, casual place that holds 50. We're still fairly new to Filipino cuisine and she did an excellent job talking us through the menu and the various options. We started with three appetizers, the lumpiang, kinilaw, and canton noodles. The kinilaw was incredible, bright and fresh with an appropriate bit of kick from the pickled fresnos, Highly recommended (but not my photo, it didn't turn out). For entrees we had the adobo ribs and the beef kare kare. Both dishes were good, but the ribs stole the show. Fall-off- the-bone moist with an incredible tangy yet sweet tomato glaze. Our server was attentive when taking our order but rarely came to our table when the dishes were brought to our table. We had to remind our server about our 2nd drink order after waiting for 20 minutes. After our last entree was served, our many entrees plates were not cleared for another 20 minutes even though it was clear we were done eating. Our server never came to our table to check up on us. We had to ask another server for our bill. The final bill for me and my spouse came out to $263.79 and included 4 cocktails. This was not a special occasion dinner. We both want to support Filipino restaurants to become more main stream, however, they need to earn repeat customers. Some of the upscale Filipino restaurants we have dined at includes Kasama (Michelin Star) in Chicago and Abacá in San Francisco had very good service. We started with siyokoy cocktails which were tasty and had a tangy flavor I was craving for in an aperitif. Our entrees consisted of tinapa tonnato, ensaladang pinakbet, adobo ribs, kare kare and shared and order of the bibingka for dessert. We both enjoyed the tinapa tonnato and I especially liked the addition of mint because it brightened the slight funkiness of the tomato salad. The ensaladang pinakbet was not a "traditional" version of the dish and was served cold like a salad and without rice. The veggies were cooked perfectly. The pickled bitter melon was a nice addition although I thought the bitter melon was a bit too vinegary but my spouse liked the level of vinegar. Overall, we both enjoyed this version of pinakbet. The adobo ribs were meh and one note in flavor but was very tender. It lacked acidity which is a typical flavor profile for Filipino adobo. I was getting a slight bitter aftertaste, not sure where it was coming from, perhaps from too much char on the ribs because of the grilling. The ribs are covered in a thick glaze so I couldn't see the naked ribs. We both would have liked wedges of lime to squeeze on the ribs to give it a little hit of acidity. A little Maldon salt would have helped too. The first couple of bites of the kare kare were tasty but started to taste monotonous. We both agreed it needed a bit more salt or bagoong on the side for each diner to add the level to their own taste specifications. The beef cheeks portion was large and was very tender, unctuous, and delicious. The bibingka was served warm and very buttery. We enjoyed the crispy edges. I guess the O.G. designation meant it was the original recipe. It tasted like the recipe I grew up eating. Nothing inventive.

Perfect timing if you want to beat the rush and take a look around before it fills up. The restaurant is located in Beacon Hill, right next to the Beacon Hill light rail station, which is super convenient if you're coming from downtown or the airport. No dedicated parking lot, so you're looking at street parking. The setup is counter service. You order and pay up front, then find a seat, and they bring the food out to you. It's a nice hybrid of quick-service convenience with the personal touch of table delivery. Just remember to bus your own table when you're done. They've also got a station set up for washing your hands and mixing your own dipping sauce, which I thought was a really thoughtful touch (if you grew up with Filipino food, you know). I went heavy on the sinamak (spiced vinegar). Seating is flexible. Counter seats if you're solo or just grabbing something quick, and regular tables that can accommodate four or more if you've got a bigger group. We ordered the bangus-silog, island combo, and cassava cake. Bangus-silog:Came with garlic rice, two eggs, and milkfish, and it hit exactly the way silog should. Yolks were slightly runny, rice had that good garlicky flavor, and the bangus was perfectly fried with head and tail. Island combo: Came with two lumpia, two inihaw ribs, pancit, white rice, two longanisa, and two butterfly shrimp. Great way to sample a bunch of things in one go if you can't decide. The lumpia was crispy and had a good amount of filling. The ribs were tender and had a nice char. The pancit had good noodle texture, and the longanisa had that slightly sweet, garlicky flavor you want. Nothing special about the butterfly shrimp. Also don't skip the baked goods section near the register. It's definitely worth a look on your way out. We tried a slice of cassava cake for dessert. Dense and not overly sweet. Good way to end the meal. Staff at the register were friendly and patient the whole time. They answered any questions about the menu. Overall, a solid and casual spot for Filipino comfort food. Our office gets a list of the weekly offerings on Monday, so when I heard that later in the week there would be Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen, bringing Filipino food, I most definitely made lunch plans. I was coming in from a meeting in Fremont, so didn't go to the pop-up/Salu-Salo Filipino Kitchen as soon as it started service (around 11am). With that said, I nearly missed out on the chicken adobo! I took the last of the chicken adobo an hour and a half after the lunch service started, so was counting my blessings! I ordered the lunch plate, which came with chicken adobo, pancit, rice and pickled veggies. My lunch plate was solid. Chicken adobo was tender and really, really liked how vinegar-y the flavor was, which, any Filipino would tell you that all food tastes better with vinegar! Pancit wasn't bad, but not the best. Some of the noodles were on the dry side, but I did like the cabbage and green onion throughout. Pickled veggies were a nice addition, adding more sour flavor to the overall entree. For someone who hardly ever has Filipino food and desperately misses mom's cooking, I was just happy to have Salu-Salo bring some adobo to the area. I would definitely recommend checking out Salu-Salo if you ever see their stand around. They don't update their social media channels, unfortunately, so is a little difficult to find where their stand will be. And when I asked if they participate in any markets, they do not. But the owners did mention that they visit downtown Seattle often at other office buildings around. Therefore, I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon and getting my Filipino cuisine on. (Plus, bonus points for the owner being from the Bicol region of the Philippines, which is where my mom's side is from. Love that!)

For example, my favorite dish on the menu is the Laing Express, which is made with coconut milk, taro leaves, topped with a delicious crispy piece of pork belly. With a topping of pork belly, how could anything go wrong? This dish has an amazing earthy flavor, with a bit of a kick to it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. How often to you get to eat purple desserts? Ube cake gets its color from purple yams! Salu-Salo's ube coconut topped ube cheesecake balls are not just adorable, they are addicting. As someone who is gluten free, all of the main dishes are fair game. This is often very rare when dining out for me!! Here's to Salu-Salo for exposing Seattleites to what Filipino food is all about. Rosario's cuisine feels like a healthy take on comfort food. Each dish bursting with flavor, yet still accessible to all ages. The idea behind comfort food is all about the thought that goes into the prep. After tasting Salu-Salo's food, I promise you can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation of each dish. I am looking forward to this becoming a Seattle institution, and hope it inspires more Filipino cuisine to start popping up in the PNW.

There was plenty of tender, nicely seasoned meat. Lastly, the pancit was made fresh in small batches. There is dedicated counter seating on the side. Tia Lei is super nice, friendly and works her ass off. Her barangay in the PI is just two hours from my father's. The staff in the store is also super nice. 4get the touristy places in Pike Place. There's no actual menu, but you'd most likely find their famous salmon sinigang. It's a savory, sour soup with assorted vegetables. The broth was perfectly tangy from the tamarind and the salmon was fresh. You can get a combo meal like I did and try two dishes. I saw some people complain about the price, but you really do get your money's worth by the serving size. The staff are so friendly and food comes out quick since it's made that morning. There's limited seating, it's only the bar side area of the kitchen. People are in and out, so you just gotta wait when one free's up if you're planning on eating there. If you're a bigger group, I'd suggest getting the food to-go and eat elsewhere. While you're waiting, you can read up on all the funny and sarcastic signs everywhere.

I'd heard a lot about this singular item; how it became a Seattle iconic bakery pickup dish and the people who rave about it. Due to it closing somewhat early, I'd never been able to make it out there though, until now. And there was no question about what I was getting. As someone unhealthily (literally) obsessed with cheesecakes, this is right up my alley. This is unlike any cheesecake I've had. The first thing you feel is the immediate richness - characteristic of the very best. I want to feel like I'm consuming something that's going to shorten my life when I eat a cheesecake. This absolutely delivers on that promise; it's got a mouthfeel that lingers and makes you feel its presence even after the last bite is gone. The tiny-bit sour, heavily deep and cheesy flavor is complemented by a texture that's supremely soft. The crust is also great - while not as hard as other crusts I've had, this is unique as its made with coconut butter biscuit. What makes this one unique is the same thing that makes it purple. Its ube flavor combines so well with the normal cheesecake flavor that I can't believe I haven't had this combination before. The slightly-sweet, vanilla-forward, coconut-hinting, earthy nature of the yam balances out the cheese perfectly. The only thing practically missing is a touch of salt for something truly awesome. The only downside here is the price is 9 bucks. That is a lot for a cheesecake piece that's pretty small - roughly 150g. Overall, this absolutely ranks up there with some of the best cheesecakes I've had. 9.75/10

Cheesecake isn't my favorite cake either, so I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Coffee was fine, I would stick with the pastries here. Overall, it's a cool space to hang out and catch up. Menu leans on the pricier side

I grew up eating Filipino food, and kare-kare was actually a dish I never really cared for. But I recently had it at a party that was catered from here on a Saturday, and I honestly couldn't stop thinking about it afterward. The following week, I was raving about it to my sister-in-law (our partners are Filipino), and since we were in the area, we decided to stop by. We walked in right at 11 when they opened. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing from the start. We weren't greeted very warmly by the older woman taking orders. Maybe she was having an off day, or maybe we happened to walk in right as they opened, but as my SIL was ordering, she seemed visibly annoyed with us. What really stood out, though, was when two older Filipino women came in shortly after. Her demeanor completely changed, and she became much warmer and more hospitable toward them. I don't want to assume someone's intentions, but as someone who isn't Filipino, it honestly made us feel very unwelcome and discriminated against. It was especially disappointing because we genuinely love Filipino food and regularly eat dishes like papaitan and tortang talong with our Filipino family. We weren't just randomly ordering unfamiliar food, these are dishes we know and love. And my whole life I've never experienced any negative interactions with any Filipino, ever. They're some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. We ended up getting our food to go. The tortang talong was pretty greasy and the tapsilog was decent. And I have to give credit where credit is due: the crispy kare-kare is still the best I've ever had. That alone is what would bring me back for the food. Unfortunately, the service is what keeps me from rating this place higher. Based on my experience, I'd recommend this as more of a takeout spot only. Hopefully whoever takes your order is having a better day than ours did.

The service was okay -- minimal attention -- had to ask for refills multiple times. Portions seem slightly small for the price but I will come back if in the area.
