I can not say enough good things about Kick Butt Coffee! What a neat place! I like the location, so whenever I am in the area, I definitely try to stop in for a cup of coffee and a sandwich. I always have to try one of their cookies! The names always have me laughing and I enjoy their unusual cookie flavors or styles or whatever is the right word for it. There's one that has huge chunks of marshmallows baked in it, YUM. Any way, I love the cookies, I enjoyed the coffee, beer selection is great. They always have Independence Brewery's Stash IPA on hand; love it. The staff is so sweet. They are just the nicest folks and offer excellent service. The stage set up, as well as the sound and booking folks are great. They always have killer events, even have some rad shows happening during the weekdays! Soooo great place, great staff, great product! read more

I recently purchased the Living Social coupon for $50 worth of coffee and such for $20. I used it this morning, expecting to be given a gift card with a $50 balance. Not so, I was given a punch card in $5 increments. So I get a large smoothie and am told I need to spend $5 to get a punch. Hmmm ok, I don't need another item. So I buy a water and pay the remainder on my end. Seriously? I have a coupon and I want to spend it, not use my money. Basically I will need to spend $5 each time I use my punch card. What's the point when I need 1 latte that is $3.75? Not happy about this at all. read more

Came in for my first time. Place had a great atmosphere the decor is amazing so homey. The food selection was pretty surprising for the basic coffee shop I was expecting going in blind. Was also very surprised by their bar and much more. Definitely will be back to hang with friends and make some memories. Cashier with the blonde hair was pretty rude though, guess we all have bad days. read more

Quick stop for coffee, very cool vibe and venue. Coffee was indeed delicious. Would be very interested in seeing live music on next visit to town. read more

I've been to Kick Butt Cafe twice now, and I have to say - it's become my new favorite hang out. I live up North and willingly drive to this area for a Lavender Latte. Did I mention that it's located right next door to an anime shop?! What more could you want. I'm excited to continue to go back and enjoy great service, fun atmosphere and more live music!! Also, Chris is a wonderful barista and remembered my order on a very busy day! read more

Staff is cool & so is the owner! Coffee is tasty! Good place to start your morning! Keep up the good vibes and fresh coffee!

Liz and Lisa make me want to drive out of my way to visit Kick Butt Coffee. Today they fixed my broken basket for a charity event that I was attending tonight. These women are not only sweet, they are very resourceful! The coffee and bakery items are great, too. :-) Highly recommend! read more

Wow, I saw the Kick Butt folks complaining on facebook that they had received two bad comments on yelp, so I thought I'd come check em out. In both cases they go out of the way- in all caps - to explain how great they sell things & sell out of things - then blame a smell on possibly a homeless person? Wow, I know that won't get me back there. The one time I went it was run lackadaisically - but whatever, Austin right? After reading them making excuses & blaming homeless people for stinking, yeah, I know how I feel. Kick butt huh? read more

This place has been around, and has been able to work around one of the most terrible obstacles I have. I tend not to be a coffee drinker, preferring ice tea. Well, the people here were able to solve this issue, and solve it extremely well. Food? Top notch. Breakfast is outstanding, pastries are well done and still incredibly edible, even at the off hours when most coffee shop stuff starts feeling its age, and looking at retirement. The staff is extremely efficient. This place is definitely on my "will stop by when in the area" list, and has been for a number of years now. Edited: I will say that the waitstaff here are the most normal and sane of any coffee shop I've been to in a good while. Definitely one of the top three coffee places in Austin. read more

I stopped by to check out the open mic, and was pleasantly surprised by the talented musicians. The set is ~3 hours long, and each musician is given 3 songs or 15 minutes to perform. The vibe is very folksy/country/bluesy. I think it's great that they let musicians perform free of charge and also on a dedicated stage! It felt like a real show. I didn't try any coffee but was delighted to see that they had a full bar and also Austin Eastciders! The venue itself is dimly lit and cozy and has very unique booth seating in some parts of the shop. There's ample seating but a limited number of outlets if you're not seated against a wall. I think the place is well-suited for live performances, but I don't know if I'd come here again to do work, since it's quite dark. read more

Thought I'd balance out a negative review with which I strongly disagree with a positive one! The Italian sodas at this place are amazeballs and their cookies are amazing. I almost never get coffee here because I rarely make it pasty coconut soda cravings. Much love to Tommy Red and Kick Butt. Y'all are doing it right! read more

I've been going to Kick Butt, with regularity, for 9 months. The food, the coffee, and the service are all very good. I was enjoying the coffee and service for a while before I had their breakfast tacos and then...wow, the tacos were great! They make them fresh every morning, and only a certain amount, so get there in time. The quesadilla is great, too, and the chicken you can add is fresh and juicy. The guac is really good, too. The people who work here are nice and helpful. Please enjoy! read more

I had been to Kick Butt once before but just to meet a friend. I went for comedy night on 8/8. We arrived early to grab a bite to eat not knowing food is not sold after 3pm. We were offered a pizza instead. The pizza was ok but being a vegetarian i ordered the veggie and was disappointed that jalapenos were all over the pizza. Not everyone eats hot spicey food. My friend had the pre made sandwich and was trying to eat it but ended throwing it away because she said it was horrible. After she comes back to the table the guy at the table next to us takes a bite out of his sandwich and says its the worst sandwich he has ever had. Your food options for night events needs to be expanded more so because people are drinking. Your vegetarian menu is seriously lacking. I was truly disappointed with Kickbutts food. But then again you are a coffee shop. On a positive note...I enjoyed comedy night. Customer service was great. read more

I absolutely love this place. My son took me there when I went to visit him in Austin, Texas. Now, I go every time I go to Austin. The black bean breakfast tacos are great and the honey, lavender latte recommended by the waiter is delicious. read more

While on my drive home during Halloween time I was pondering where I could get a great latte at 10:45. I don't do starbucks, I have been there once and the whole language that is spoken there baffles me. So, remembering I just saw this place a couple of months before, not opened yet, and on the way to my house, I thought I'd chance it. I had a long night of costume making ahead of me so I thought I would take my chances with a mint mocha latte. I like mine not too hot, and more chocolate than most. yummy... They nailed it! Friendly staff member made me come back plenty of times since then! Oh, snap...I gotta go see if they still have the Pumpkin latte since Thanksgiving is over! read more

This place is generally dirty, works basically as a cafeteria with live shows. It's dimly lit and given the distro, it often feels that no matter where you sit, you're somewhat in the way of traffic. Might be a cool spot to check out given it's shows but certainly not the most awesome stage in Austin. read more

i had read some of the reviews about this place and happened to be driving by with a friend so we decided to try it. it was not a pleasant experience. the milk/sugar station was pretty messy with spills and trash. i ordered a regular coffee (i always get a regular coffee) and it was so hot that i had to wait about half an hour before i could even drink it. (the jugs of milk were all empty...). my friend got one of the specialty coffees, but was unable to drink hers because the coffee to syrup ratio was so off. i would probably go back in a pinch, but would rather go somewhere else if given the option. read more

Just had coffee here, it was gross, actually lukewarm and 12oz for $2.75??? Person behind counter was only friendly while trying to sell a full lunch to us... but we only needed coffee, so after that it was cold service. read more

Not your run of the mill coffee shop. I love this place. Great coffee and great atmosphere.

As always, Kick Butt delivers on their name. The drinks, both coffee and alcohol were great! And the staff were amazing. I would like to applaud Kick Butt for their commitment to the community, as evidenced by their support for the Street Cat Rescue benefit recently held there. I will definitely be back. Please come out and support a local business that, well, kicks butt. read more

Kick butt coffee is my favorite coffee joint in all of austin! Super great atmosphere and even better coffee and Booz. Go check them out! It's worth it! read more

Updating my review, the first time I came I has a bit of a bad experience. With that being said the owner went out of his way to make it right! Went in on a day before work and a very nice gentleman helped me out. Even though he was CLEARLY busy he dropped what he was doing and helped me pick out an item and answered every question I had. He was attentive and had amazing customer service. Very pleased with this experience I had! Thank you! read more

They need more help in the mornings. I've gone in twice at around 7:35 and they'll have one person working with a line waiting. I don't usually mind waiting, cause I try and plan enough time to still make it to work at 8, but I think other people mind and I think the barista can get overwhelmed. read more

Nice experience, great breakfast tacos and cookies. I hadn't been there before it seemed to stay pretty busy. I do wish there were menus closer to the end of the line rather than near the front so people could look at them, but other than that it was good! read more

I recently visited Kick Butt for the first time and loved it! Their iced mocha was fabulous and probably one of the best I've had in town. The chocolate was great, and the coffee had a yummy nutty flavor to it. Their breakfast tacos and pizza were really tasty. The staff were super friendly and seemed to really enjoy working there. The atmosphere was fun with a photo of Chuck Norris on the wall. They had an article on the wall paying homage to the owner of Tamale House which was very cool. Next on my agenda is to check out one of their open mic nights... read more

Can I leave less than one star? I just came back from this place on Airport where I ordered a regular large coffee. I like coffee. This was not coffee.. it tasted like ASS. I actually threw my full cup into the bin. Less than clean environment too. The creamers were mysteriously aol. The coffee makers seemed to be grundgy too... my coffee from McDonalds was better!.... and I don't like Micky D's coffee either, but at least it didn't taste like they hadn't cleaned the coffee maker in a month or so. I have visited the one at the Triangle too, and it was FILTHY! There were smears and crumbs all over the pastry case, and the coffee there was bitter and nasty too. Stale looking pastry in a case of crumbs, fingersmears and glops of something unidentifyable.... UCK! WHY... when you spend all this time and effort trying to create a 'cool atmosphere' with all the stupid kungfu junk strewn about, do you not spend just a little time managing your lazy employees, get them to CLEAN SOMETHING. Don't hire for poser hair, hire for a willingness to do a job! Never going back. I can't imagine why anyone would except that caffene is addictive and some people have no taste. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but feel compelled to entirely due to one super negative review that makes no sense. I go to the Airport location a lot as it's near my office and I have never had anything but great coffee from great baristas giving great service. The breakfast tacos and sandwiches are good as well. Can't speak to music, booze, and night time stuff as I go during the day only. I also work on my laptop there when I need to get out of the office to concentrate and not be interrupted. Yes, It's in a strip center. Kick Butt brings personality to the place--I am not entirely sure what a "22nd century WalMart" is supposed to look or feel like, but I'm pretty sure this isn't it. If Holly A is not willing to take Kick Butt up on that free lunch offer, I would be GLAD to go in her place. Ya hear that, Kick Butt? Totally up for a Return of the Dragon sammie. And an Almond Joy latte. read more

Ugh, $6.50 for a tiny cup of fruit and a mineral water? Whoa. Sticker shock.

I work across the street from Kickbutt, and it is my own litle oasis of happiness. Whether it's an early stop off for a breakfast taco, a mid day coffee recharge run, or an after work cocktail, Kickbutt is always there for me. One the things I find particularly appealing about this little gem is Lisa Sutton. She is absolute embodiment of a concerned service professional laser focused on providing a good customer experience. Lisa is absolutely the extra "kick" I get out of Kickbutt coffee! read more

I went here one day when I was on my way to work. The barista had no sense of urgency - the customers in front of me had gotten their drinks and paid and were still standing there talking to her for a good 5/10 minutes before she even acknowledged me. I was somewhat in a hurry and told her what i wanted, and she proceeded to move super slow, and all of that would've been overlooked if the coffee was good, but i was SO disappointed. My vanilla latte did not have ANY vanilla in it. That was my first time trying this establishment and I don't think i will be going back. The establishment itself was good and cute, but I am a coffee connoisseur and this was just horrible. read more

The management is full of themselves. I know the place is under construction but, hey wipe the dust and debris off of the table tops. I wondered why their Triangle location folded, now I get it. They haven't a clue about service. read more

Coffee seems to be a little bit on the more expensive side. However, I do enjoy their green tea frappes. Smooth and icy! Normally green tea drinks aren't mixed well enough where you can taste the powder but Kick Butt's was delicious! read more

This is the only place in Austin where Chuck Norris grinds the coffee with his teeth and boils the water with his own rage.

I really like this place. Very energetic vibe with a hint of relaxation. Coffee is very good, not burnt. Also there is a good amount of verity. The cookies are incredible, my favorite in Austin by far. The customer service is top notch, very punctual and professional. On top of all that it's locally owned and operated. So yes you should go and spend your hard earned money here instead of at some huge chain shop. Let's keep our money in Austin! read more

I like this place! The staff and the owner are super friendly and the drinks are delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and funky and they play great tunes. I look forward to coming back and sampling more of the menu. read more

The coffee is great, and I love that I can get a whiskey to go with my coffee. People still do that right? Well I don't care if they don't, I do! The food is decent and the atmosphere is fun. And what's more, they have events like open mic and concert nights. read more

I paid nearly $3 for a cup of coffee that ranked well below anything I could get at a gas station. Those are Medici prices with a dramatic reduction in quality. Location is terrible. Design and concept are contrived. I was truly amazed at the languid, cardboardish taste of the coffee, and at nearly $3 bucks, I was down right offended. read more

The mothball smell in this place is disconcerting. The barista is the morning is nice enough, but terribly slow. Ordered an iced latte this morning an he made it with iced coffee rather than espresso. Didn't pack the punch I was hoping for. Plenty of great coffeehouses in Austin, you can skip this one. read more
