Great sushi spot. The environment is awesome with beautiful plants and dim lighting and though it's usually pretty full, I've never needed to make a reservation. The staff is sincere and efficient and the sushi is delicious! I don't know that it's the best sushi I've ever had in the history of ever but it's pretty darn good. I usually just get their sushi deluxe and it's very fresh and more than enough to fill you up...unless you're like a body builder or something. It's a cic intimate restaurant in BK. Perfect for a one-on-one get together or a date. We started with the edamame and rock shrimp. I'm not a fan of rock shrimp but it was good. My friend really liked it. For our entrees, we ordered the sushi deluxe and a rainbow roll. The fish was fresh and tasty. Im only giving it 4/5 because we came so close to closing that it felt a little rushed (def on us, not the restaurant). Would I come back? Yes! Would I recommend it to a friend? Service was very good. I did make a reservation and would suggest it bc it's popular. The fish and quality of food is really good. Kind of disappointed with our dining experience at this neighborhood Japanese restaurant given the positive Yelp reviews. This place serves basic, standard sushi that you can find almost anywhere. The quality and freshness of their fish was just okay; the menu is overly focused on specialty rolls (presumably to make up for the aforementioned lack of quality and freshness of the fish); and the sushi rice had an unpleasant consistency. I'll give credit where credit is due. The Kama Soba is absolutely incredible. Every element of this dish was executed perfectly! The broth was rich and complex, the soba noodles were well prepared, the duck was tasty and plentiful, and the vegetables were firm and crisp. Ki Sushi ought to consider a name change... Sushi is not their strong suit. I can see myself returning for their non-raw menu items - especially during the cold winter months. read more

holy cow, this place was amazing!!! it's a very cute and intimate space, great for date nights but also family outings (saw a few large groups) when i stopped in on a sunday night. my dining companion and i both opted for the sushi omakase, then shared a lime ginger creme brulee to wrap things up. the sushi omakase came with 10 pieces of chef's selection, all of which were great, fresh and tasty. personal highlights were the fluke, amberjack, salmon, fatty tuna, and scallop pieces. the rice were also perfectly seasoned with vinegar. according to my dining companion, i was cheesing very hard as i ate my meal lol. the lime ginger creme brulee was creamy and a nice ending to my meal. nice atmosphere, attentive staff, great food, i can't wait to be back! read more

ah ki sushi~ they say that true friends can go months without seeing each other but still pick up right where they left off. like a good friend, ki is consistently my go-to sushi spot in BK. 1) ambience: great outdoor setup with limited indoor seating. I managed to snag the last table for two a little before 6pm on a friday - but noticed a few guests who arrived shortly after us waited a LONG time (since no one scarfs down sushi). also, the restaurant was very covid-friendly as the staff seemed well-trained and everything seemed clean/tidy. 2) food: what else can i say that has not yet been said by my fellow lovely yelpers - the food is obviously top notch while not breaking the bank. My table ordered the agedashi tofu, two special rolls, and the omakase. ki also offered a few unique offerings on their drink menu - i personally opted for a japanese craft beer, echigo koshihikari, that paired well with the meal. maybe its the fish that is imported from japan. maybe its the experienced sushi chefs with many trade secrets. i know some may argue "sushi is sushi" in a foodie city like nyc but there's something unique about ki that always keeps me coming back. I'm so happy I found this place! Sushi was fresh, delicious and ambiance was great. They were maybe 80% full about 30-45 minutes after opening. A few kids/children were there on Friday night and being a little noisy but they were quiet after some food. The sashimi set was 3 pieces of 5 different fish. Eel avocado and spicy tuna rolls were incredible and the shrimp tempura roll was thicc (2 Cs). I hadn't been to Ki in many years and felt pleasantly welcomed back. The space hasn't been updated but it bears a warm feeling with dark colors and comfortable seating. Upon entering we were greeting by a friendly host who led us to our table. On the way to our table, all of the Sushi Chefs greeted us as well. Once we were seated, we were handed a wet nap to sanitize our hands. Everything was neat and orderly and there was a plate just to put the wet nap on once done. Everything felt very sanitary. The menu is not too diverse, mostly sushi and japanese standards (miso soup, green salad, seaweed salad, gyoza, shumai, fried eggplant..). The sushi bar is open so you san see the chefs prepare. While they don't have a cocktail list, their wine and beer covers the basics and is affordable (Wine, $10-11 and beer around $6). Staff looked sleek in their all black getup and masks. Food came relatively quickly but not too fast that we couldn't savor each part of the meal. We each had the miso soup which was light and subtle. Everything tasted very fresh. The steamed pork gyoza while hearty felt airy. There were 5 and my friend and I definitely debated who got that 3rd! (I did-win!) The fried eggplant was plated in a lovely way with some type of berry with a seed in it on top (see pic). I had the eel cucumber roll and enjoyed every bite. I was happy at how reliable it was here. In my experience, most sushi in this city seems to fall into one of two categories: 1. The legendary, prohibitively expensive places like Nobu, Yasuda and the like. 2. The cheap, occasionally decent but also potentially revolting spots that do 1/2 price sushi, and/or for some reason serve Chinese, Thai, Korean and sushi out of the same kitchen. This leaves a gaping hole in the NYC sushi scene, where there should be moderately priced, good quality sushi. Enter Ki. It is not only decently priced, but everything I've ever eaten here has been of extremely high quality. All types of nigiri, sashimi, rolls, salads and hot dishes have been outstanding. You will even notice the difference in the wasabi. I'll echo everyone else in saying that the Ki Roll is a favorite, but really anything you order will be a winner. Even their simple, garlic broccoli appetizer is amazing. I'm normally skeptical of spicy tuna rolls, but here I don't even sniff it to make sure it's not rancid; I trust them implicitly. It's official, this is my favorite sushi spot in NYC. read more

The noise level is average for a very pleasant dining experience. The decor is truly upmarket while the ambiance seems sophisticated. In reality the price was comparatively to some posh Sushi restaurants around. The Staff are commendable for attentiveness and are genuinely friendly. We were seated right away and we need not have to ask for water ones we got settled (the temperature outside was 85 degrees). We ordered ice cold beer and 2 choices of Sushi rolls which was included in the lunch special that came with Miso soup and Veggie salad with ginger sauce dressing. My tempura and spicy tuna rolls were both delicious and served fresh, I will definitely come back here for a date night. 1 star back for being super dark inside the restaurant. note: not all customers has 20/20 vision! read more

Most importantly, be aware that Ki does NOT honor reservation times. We had a reservation for 9 pm on a Saturday night. When we arrived, there were about 10 other groups also waiting to be seated (the restaurant is small), including people who had not yet been seated for 8:30 and 8:45 reservations. That was the first bad sign. The hostess was also not equipped to handle this in the slightest. To everyone who walked in (with or without a reservation) she told them that tables would be available in about 15 minutes, which was blatantly untrue. I also overheard a group come in who had put their name down on the list an hour or so before and she claimed their name had somehow been removed and that their reservation had been lost. Hm....needless to say, they were not pleased. Then a couple who had been waiting for awhile asked her how much longer until their table would be ready and I overheard her let them know that since they had not originally had a reservation she had had to move them further down the list after all the 9 pm reservations arrived. She had done this without bothering to tell them! I was quite shocked by all of this. Extremely unprofessional!!!!! By 9:30 pm we were seated and decided that since we were not likely coming back due to the hot mess over reservations/tables, that we should go all out this one time. We ordered the supreme sushi and sashimi omakase for 2 people (fish flown in from Japan). Thanks to the unbelievable fish, I am giving Ki 4 stars rather than 2 or 3. The fish was superb. Each piece melted in your mouth and it was lovely to get to try so many different types. The toro (fatty tuna) sashimi was incredible, as were the scallop sushi, eel sushi, and yellowtail sashimi. The omakase also came with a delicious oyster. Surprisingly, it did not come with a small salad or miso soup, which I found strange as we were paying $55 per person. Anyway, as I said, it is the excellent quality of fish that saved this rating. read more

The ambience and service elevate this place from being just another mediocre sushi joint with a bunch of funky eel-sauce covered, tempura-flake-filled special rolls. Sure, these rolls tasted pretty good, but they really weren't anything special, and are definitely on the more expensive side. We got the Salmon Skin Roll ($5), one of my standby favorites, which was done pretty well here. The Dragon ($11) was a little bland, and nowhere near some of the better ones I've had. The Peach Roll ($13) sounded interesting, as it had sliced peaches on top, along with tuna, avocado and caviar inside. I expected the deliciousness that you often get with combos like these, such as the more commonplace rolls that are made with mango, but this one also tasted kind of bland. Maybe the peaches were going bad or something, I dunno. Lastly, I also had the Angel Roll ($16), which was definitely the best one. This had seared tuna and asparagus inside, along with salmon, avocado, eel and tobiko on top. This was the tastiest of all, mostly owing to the eel and the eel sauce slathered all over the top. As mentioned above, the atmosphere in here is very nice. It is dark and intimate, and would serve well for a nice date, or a night out on the town alone to sit at the sushi bar. The service was also very good. There seemed to be an army of waiters and busboys that refilled my tea every time I took a sip, but they did it in a nice, non-obtrusive way that I appreciated, even though I had to go to the bathroom constantly for the rest of the night (also, this is another huge plus, as it wasn't one of those annoying sushi places that charges you $5 for a tiny pot of tea that gives you two cups worth). I guess I might come back here, maybe to try the omakase next time or at least get some of the sushi pieces instead of the special rolls. read more

Yummy warm sake, etc. Restaurant is small and can be loud when crowded but it's the freshest Sushi I've had in quite some time. Ki is my current vote for best sushi in Brooklyn. I've been here for both a tranquil weekday lunch and a group dinner amid a more energetic (and packed) dining room. Considering the quality of the fish and other ingredients and the beautiful presentation, the two roll combo lunch special is a steal here compared to that of the standard issue sushi places that fill this borough. The miso soup is a piping hot generous portion, with a rich mouthfeel, sprinkled with Einoki mushrooms, fresh tofu, seaweed, and scallions, and the salad, topped with a vibrant homemade ginger dressing, was made with fresh greens rather than the typical iceberg. My friend and I really enjoyed the salmon and spicy tuna rolls. The chef even accommodated my friend's three (arguably price-altering) alterations/additions to her sushi rolls for no additional charge. For dinner, I sampled some of the crispy, pan-fried Gyoza as well as a beautiful array of Nigiri, my favorites of which were the Salmon, Arctic Char, Yellowtail, and Spanish Mackerel. My more adventurous friends really enjoyed the Uni and fatty tuna. I also experienced the signature Ki roll, which, consisting of generous amounts of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail, topped with spicy, crunchy king crab, avocado, and caviar in the color combination made famous in the Stendhal novel, and finished off with a gold leaf, resembles a gifted jewel box filled with treasures from the sea. read more

A famous Yelp Ambassador has Ki as one of the "Best Date Restaurants in NYC: If you don't get lucky, it's not the restaurant. It's you." So, of course - I have to try it right? It's Yelp and like all things you read online, it's gotta be true! So my fine friend was craving for sushi, so we got the famous Ki roll, Rainbow roll, and a Sashimi deluxe. First off, the service was awesome. Beyond having a warm wet towel to wash up before eating, there's a slice of lemon in our water. Only 8.53% of all the restaurants I've been do actually gives lemon in your water automatically so that's a big win for Ki already. FF was not impressed. The Ki roll was awesome to me, but FF was a bit apprehensive about eating a gold leaf. Like the Ki, the Rainbow roll was also packed with fresh fish. Sashimi deluxe came and FF apparently isn't really into salad - odd I thought, seeing how she's so... fine. Every single piece of fish I found was freakin fresh. But FF was not impressed. For dessert, I wanted to bring FF to a cute place I know with some pretty awesome Chocolate cake - surprise her with a candle in it for her Birthday. She shows me a picture of a slice of chocolate cake she had the day before at Peter Luger... with a candle in it. *sad face* Instead we stayed and ordered the banana and ice cream. That she liked. I went home with a *sad face* and later in the evening I had two pieces of the Ki and Rainbow roll left over that was doggie bagged. Opened up the paper bag to find a menu wrapped in a rubber band with a tiny dish, 4 packs of soy sauce, wasabi and ginger in my sushi container. Ki hands down uses the freshest fish and you can absolutely taste the difference between Ki and other sushi spots. The service is always impeccable as well. I have been going to this location for years and then started coming to their Flatbush location, as the Smith Street one was under renovation for some time. I just returned back with my dad this past Friday (and learned that they've been back open for about two months already! - RUN!!). Both locations are equally great but this one is just more convenient for me in terms of getting to and parking. Aside from our regular order of the special rolls, my dad and I tried the chef's supreme sushi and sashimi platter ($60- well worth it!) this time. Came here for New Year's Day hangover lunch and needed me some Miso soup fast. Had the 2 roll lunch special which came with soup and salad. Nothing extraordinary with the food but the fish was fresh. The spicy tuna had a nice crunch at the end. The staff were attentive and polite. We were seated in a nook by the window but they never forgot us. Nice ambience although it was too "clubby" for lunch. Especially hangover lunch. It should be nice for dinner though. read more

I'm in town from San Francisco for work and have a list of restaurants in Brooklyn to visit while I'm here. Tonight, I was too exhausted to venture out, so I yelped sushi near my hotel and found Ki. Arrived when they opened and had no problem getting a table for 1 on a Thursday. Ordered the Omakase nigiri and spicy girl roll (pretty sure that's what it was called). The nigiri was absolutely fantastic. I try not to be a jerk about it, but I'm kind of a sushi snob and this sushi exceeded my expectations. 2 of my favorite nigiris are barracuda and uni, both of which were included in the Omakase and were delicious. Also, the Omakase was only $50 for 10 pierces of nigiri! I only have a couple nights left in NY and will go back for dinner at least one, if not both, nights. 2 small complaints...1) it is SO DARK inside that we all had our phone flashlights out in order to read the menu. I'm attaching a picture of my meal, but without the camera flash, I never would have known that this is what it looked likeAlso, the spicy roll was extremely fresh and flavorful, but I didn't taste any spiciness at all. After looking at some of the delivery reviews, I knew I had to get some sushi from Ki. Moving btwn BK + Queens, I remember I ate a super delicious mushroom broth somewhere...but I didn't remember the name. After having had no luck finding it, I think this is the place! The broth is so clean and delicious, aaaaamazing value for the amount of shrooms you get for $5. I called the restaurant around 8p and got my food delivered by 830p. They're not back on delivery platforms (yet?), and their website said I was out of the delivery zone...but Yelp said call to order. Thankfully, I was greeted by the kindest receptionist with no problems. On top of the mushroom soup, I also ordered the Fashion roll. The scallop is super fresh and the tobiko adds a nice a refreshing bite. The lobster + yellowtail kind of melded together but I'm sure it's bc it's delivery. Can't do much about that. But I would definitely recommend getting sushi from here, spend those extra bucks on a fancier sushi option because you can taste the difference. Can't wait to eat at Ki post lockdown. read more

All of the fish tasted fresh and each bite melted in my mouth. I enjoyed the Sushi & Sashimi Omakase and the TNT Lover roll. $68 is very reasonable for Omakase made with fish shipped from Japan.
