Stopped in for lunch on a Friday. Waited in a short line. Very friendly service and the food was ready pretty quick. Amazing ribs that were soft but still had a bit of chew to them. The mac & cheese is so different and interesting. We loved it. Would definitely recommend. Parking is a bit weird here and all the seating is outside, so be prepared for that but definitely go anyways!
As a Middle Eastern who loves BBQ, I had to try KGBBQ while I was in Texas. It definitely did not disappoint! I got the rice and lamb chops, and they were SO good. The lamb was cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. But that chimichurri... SO good! It went perfectly with everything. Definitely one of those spots I'm glad I tried while visiting Texas. If you love BBQ and bold flavors, you have to check this place out!
ABSOLUTE BANGER OF TX BBQ! Here's why: Arrived at 11:05AM to beat any possibility of a crowd; still wasn't the first customer, but definitely in the TOP 5. For my order, I got an order of the Za'atar & Pomegranate Glazed Pork Ribs ($17), 1 Lamb Chop ($9.50), and an Egyptian Mac n' Cheese (made COWBOY - added smoked brisket) ($15). Total came to $41.50. First of all, the space is spacious! There are two areas for eating outside --- and although I never went "inside", I did see a building with people going in-and-out of, I assume that's part of the establishment as well? A good amount of fans to keep you comfortable during your stay which is a nice touch. Let's go to the food: I had to give the mac n' cheese the first try --- I've been disappointed too many times before. LOVED IT! First of all, KG BBQ use shells for their mac, and it's not just "queso" --- its seasoned, has some tomato in it, and when it's made "Egyptian" --- you add that beautiful amount of brisket and sauce which just enhance the whole dish. The ribs were also phenomenal. They were fall off the bone tender, but not fragile in any way. The marinade was amazing, and topped with pieces of pomegranate and served with some spiced onions, it's the COMPLEXITY. Often times with TEXAS BBQ, it gets heavy quick. Having these contrasting yet complimentary flavors just makes you want to eat more! It's a complete sensory experience, visually, smell, and taste. The famous lamb chop was also amazing, and served with a little herb concoction on the side that is again --- needed --- to cut through the richness of the meat and fattiness. I've heard some complaints from food bloggers which is valid: there is a good amount of fat on each of these chops, so you better SAVOR the meat on that chop! It'll be done in a few bites! Only feedback? Food temp. It wasn't cold, but it wasn't hot either. In any case, I was thoroughly pleased by KG BBQ and you should definitely pay a visit!
We were on the hunt for the best barbecue in Austin and heard wonderful reviews about KG BBQ. When we arrived at the address, the sign for KG BBQ wasn't immediately visible. We parked and headed toward the food truck, and it turned out to be a fantastic find! Today, we tried the lamb chops, pomegranate pork ribs, salad, and cardamom pistachio rice pudding. The lamb chops were a bit mild in flavor, but the pomegranate pork ribs exploded with taste, definitely surpassing Stiles Swirch. The salad was a bit salty and looked like it was prepared the day before. However, the highlight was the cardamom pistachio rice pudding--I could enjoy that all day long!
KG BBQ is located in a food park area next to a bar/restaurant. Parking can be a bit difficult as most places in Austin TX. You walk up to a food trailer and wait in line to order. Place your order, pay and they give you a pager that will light up and buzz when your order is ready. The brisket was good as was the sausage but the lamb chops were the best. Go and give it a try.
Came here at 1 PM on a Friday for lunch. Put our order in at the truck and sat down in the outdoor seating area, the food came out a few minutes later. The sumac & cinnamon lamb shoulder was fantastic, the two spices worked quite well together and the lamb was rich. The oum ali (Egyptian bread pudding) was great as well, the hazelnuts and golden raisins added a nice texture to the bread pudding, definitely recommend checking this place out!
Overall: 4.5/5 [dine in] We placed an online order for pickup on a Saturday and the earliest available time was 2 hours out. A couple of things to note: they charge a 10% online order service charge and a 3% credit card surcharge. When I got to the pickup window they asked if I wanted the food to go or dine in, and we chose to dine in so we could eat it fresh. They had to go containers available at the truck if you needed them. The portions looked small but were actually pretty filling. 1/2 lb Pomegranate and Za'atar Glazed Pork Ribs ($17): Came with 2 ribs that were okay. They were a little dry and lacking flavor on their own but tasted much better dipped in the pomegranate barbecue sauce. Combo Rice Bowl ($20): Came with mediterranean yellow rice, baladi salad, sauce, protein, cinnamon candied nuts, and pomegranate seeds. For the combo, you get to choose 2 proteins. I went with brisket and kofta (ground beef and lamb). Both were really good but a tad salty so the baladi salad helped balance that out. Egyptian Cowboy ($15): I chose lamb for this and it was the star of the show. The pulled lamb shoulder was incredibly tender and flavorful. The smoked mac and cheese was really good too but the rich bechamel was a bit much for us. The sumac pickled onions helped balance out the heaviness of both the mac and cheese and the lamb shoulder. Cardamom Pistachio Rice Pudding ($9.50): Pricey for rice pudding but I wanted to try the unique flavor. It was light but the cardamom flavor was strong. Interesting to try once but I wouldn't order it again.
Earlier this month, I arrived at KG BBQ early when there was no line and ordered the Lamb Bowl, Mediterranean rice, pulled lamb shoulder, baladi salad, (classic Texas buttermilk with roasted beet puree, fresh dill, jalapenos, and celery), tahini, candied nuts and pomegranate seeds and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, I was able to have a little chat with KG and I told him about my dissatisfaction with the Lamb Chop as it was a little too rare for my satisfaction and he explained that the Lamb Chops are grilled medium-rare, like a steak and that I should try the Lamb Bacon Ribs. Well, the other day, I ordered the Lamb Bacon Ribs with their chimichurri on the side and I was not disappointed. I definitely plan to return to feast on my favourite, the Za'atar and Pomegranate Pork Ribs.
Such an unassuming food truck, but don't let that fool you. This spot is a hidden gem! Michelin rated, high quality BBQ. Love the Egyptian twist. The flavors of everything were spectacular. Stand out was definitely the mediterranean rice. I would have never thought to mix BBQ with rice, but this works. The soft tender meat with the delicious sides makes the perfect bite. Delicious meal!
KG BBQ is unique and it is BOMB. I came by after work one day since I'd heard friends rave about this place and it got a Michelin rec in 2024. It's a simple looking black food truck in a busy parking lot, and the day I came was a Saturday when it was raining fairly heavily. Despite that, the lot was mostly full but there were a few spots available. There were about 5-6 people in line ahead of me and a few others still waiting for their food. I ordered the pita which you can request to do 1/2 and 1/2, so I got 1/2 brisket and 1/2 kofta. The kofta was certainly unique but I didn't like it as much as the brisket which was absolutely delicious and prepared so well. It comes with cubed marinated veg and a yogurt sauce to pour on if you get take away. I also ordered the cardamom pistachio rice pudding because I love those flavors and it was very smooth, not too sweet, and easy to eat. I'd love to go back to try the Dum Ali sometime. Overall absolutely would rec a visit to KG if you like bbq, the Egyptian flare to it is super cool and it's delicious! The staff are also so friendly.
This Egyptian BBQ food truck was so good and such a unique find. We got the brisket bowl, the cowboy mac and cheese with brisket, and the pork ribs, and everything was delicious. The brisket bowl was definitely the standout for me. It was so different from anything I've had before--it even had cranberries in it--but all the flavors came together perfectly. The cowboy mac and cheese with brisket was really good too, but I'd probably get the bowl again next time. The pork ribs were the best bite of the whole meal. They fell right off the bone and were so soft and tender. We split everything between two people and were completely stuffed by the end. Such a fun spot.
I wanted to try their rice bowls after hearing praises about it. I opted for the brisket. It was so good! All the flavors from all the components balanced out well. I liked the pomegranates! I wish the nuts were a little smaller though (it was a little difficult to eat with everything else going on) and that there were more pieces of brisket. It was hot, so I decided to eat inside the bar + they have soda you can buy. The bbq definitely lives up to the hype!
Surprisingly not too bus on Saturday lunch! We got some lamb chops, brisket, salad, and rice. We left full and happy :D
Egyptian BBQ has made it to the top of my favorite things to eat in Austin. The flavors here make my taste buds sing. Operating out of a food truck in the parking lot of a brewery, this place, and all its flavors, packs a punch. I can see why it's so popular! By the time we rolled around, there were a number of items that were sold out, but we did manage to score some brisket and lamb chops. The brisket was moist and tender; everything you could want in a brisket. I'm a fan of lamb and those lamb chops really hit the spot. The flavor and the cook was on point. We paired this with a number of sides to round out the meal. The mac and cheese - need I say more? It was ooey gooey perfection. The baladi salad was bright, vibrant, and fresh. Pay extra for the feta. The creaminess of it will round the whole salad out. The cardamom and pistachio rice pudding was something else. I'm usually not a fan of pistachio, but paired with cardamom, I was happily blown away by this dessert. The flavors were perfectly balanced without being sweet and it was a great way to end a meat-heavy meal. I'll definitely be coming back, but at a much earlier time so my taste buds can rotate across the different meats. read more
Came in on a Sunday at noon as part of a trip to Austin Food 5/5: we got the brisket, the lamb chops, a sausage link, and the tri-tip special they had that day. Also got their potato salad and cucumber salad. Lamb chops and sausage links were great, brisket and tri-tip were average Ambiance 4/5: they have a partnership with the brewery next to where they are parked and it's a nice space to eat in and knock back a few beers. Nothing that wows about the ambiance but chill and relaxing Service 2/5: took quite a bit of time to get our food although they're pretty busy. Not sure if it's because of the partnership but not much service while eating at the brewery Value 3/5: fairly average pricing for the food they're selling, wouldn't say it's good value but it's fair. Total 4/5: didn't include ambiance and service into assessment since really it's a food truck Parking: limited spots in the parking lot, otherwise needs to park across the street, can be a pain. read more
Food truck located in a parking lot. Plenty of parking and you can online order which was nice since we were a group at work. Pricing on their website is by 1/2 lbs If it's you're first time trying this place recommend getting all the sides for $20 The rice and cucumber and tomato salad were my favorites. The Mac n cheese was divided. Some thought it was good bc of the pesto in it and others thought it was bland and runny. The brisket bowls were large and plenty for 2 meals. Also got a variety of meats. I was told by the cashier the only dairy in the meats is in the chicken because they marinate it in yogurt. The chicken was really good and moist, the pork ribs were sweet but didn't fall off the bone. The lamb ribs were also really good bc they had grizzle, can never go wrong with the brisket, all were disappointed in the kofta We got both desserts. The bread pudding had a great flavor but was very runny/gloopy. I took it home and cooked it in my air-fryer longer. it came out better and I ate it with ice cream. The rice pudding was very bland but looked pretty. read more
Excellent spin on Texas BBQ! We ordered the lamb chops, potato salad and brisket bowl/lamb bowl. Everything was flavorful, meat tender, and the flavor and texture combinations in the brisket bowl and lamb bowl were well thought out and worked perfectly together! The servers at the food truck were friendly and there was plenty of misty fans in the seating area which was super helpful on a hot summer day. The food didn't leave us feeling sluggish, which is typical of bbq and we were served less than 15 minutes after ordering on a Saturday afternoon. The only reason I can't give this 5 stars is the cost- definitely not on the cheap side so can't visit too often but it's worth a visit at least once! read more
Honestly so good it's stupid. The brisket falls apart it's so moist, also might have been the best pork rib I've ever had in my life, the lamb bacon is fatty and amazing literally comes off the bone with your fingers, and lamb chop wasn't my favorite due to the seasoning but was delicious. Best bbq I've ever had read more
Worth the hype! Top notch BBQ with great service and the wait for us wasnt long at all - less than 10 minutes on Saturday afternoon. Ordered a little bit of everything, the minimum order for meat cuts is 0.5 lbs. We got the brisket, pomegranate pork ribs, lamb bacon, sausage and small mac & cheese. We love the pomegranate ribs the most - tender and not overly fatty with delicious flavor. Mac and cheese was super cheesy with zaatar spices on top. The brisket is tender but flavor got lost in the batch because everything else was special. The mediterrenean sausage is delicious with olives, sundried tomatoes and feta cheese inside. We were very impressed with this meat galore. The chef KG himself was taking orders when we went, he was helpful and knowledgable. The sides were picked onions and a pickly green mixture with onions and may be parsley? a herby veg - totally delicious and complement the meaty food. Seating was easy, there is a brewery next to the truck with both outdoor and indoor setting. You might have to share tables if you are a small party though. read more

Wow! This was a beautiful marriage of middle eastern essence with Texas BBQ. Well done! The pomegranate infused BBQ was delightful. The cumin delicately placed in the refreshingly cool cucumber salad and warm pita bread nicely brought this meal together. The lamb shoulder was cooked to perfection and the brisket just falls apart, you don't even need a knife. Despite a decent line, ordering was efficient and food came out at a reasonable amount of time, friendly staff and nice Austin ambience with the outdoor seating and string lights. Keep it up KG, mashallah! read more
I have never experienced bbq where the main meat is lamb... my mind is blown and these taste buds are happy. The flavor profiles are out of this world. This is an absolute must try. There is outside seating along with a bar. Service is fast and friendly. Did you look at those lamb chops in the pic?!?! FYI the chops sold out before 3pm when u went. read more

Check out the hottest food truck in town right now!! KG BBQ is a food truck selling Eqyptian bbq and it is so good! There may be long lines, but when I went around 6 on a weekday, there was quick service. Got the combo bowl and picked lamb + brisket. The meats are sooo delicious! The bowl is packed with flavor. Love the pomegranate and raisins they throw in the bowl. The feta and chimichurri (green stuff) are an extra charge, both of which I got. The chimichurri can be a bit spicy, so be aware of that. You can also get it on the side. There is a parking lot, you don't need to worry about that. It shares the space with Oddwood Brewing. There's also plenty of seating outside. The only downside is that there are a lot of flies, so you may wanna grab a fan from one of the tables to ward them off. read more
I've been to KG BBQ twice now, and both times have been nothing short of incredible. This place isn't just good--it's memorable. They're doing something truly unique and pushes the boundaries of BBQ in the best way possible. Both visits I got the lamb bowl and I still think about it. Perfectly cooked, tender lamb with bold spices, layered over rice with fresh, vibrant toppings.it's a full flavor journey in a single bowl. I have also tried the Mediterranean sausage and it is perfectly smoky, savory, and packed with complex flavor The vibe is casual and welcoming, and you can tell everyone working there is passionate about the food. Fast service, generous portions, and food that feels both comforting and exciting. KG BBQ is not your average BBQ joint; it's something special and I'll definitely be back. read more

Brisket bowl was delicious. They ran out of a lot of the menu by the time we got there so make sure to get there early. A little expensive for what you get but definitely yummy. Super friendly service read more
We attended a wedding in Austin a few weeks ago that was catered by KG BBQ. On hand to serve his delightful dishes was the owner, CHEF KARGEM EL-GHAYESH. He gave up a banking career in Egypt after visiting Austin and then worked for several years at different BBQ and Butcher shops to perfect his recipes and smoking style. We had beef brisket, smoked chicken and fish. All were tasty and plentiful. The side salads a perfect compliment. I wish I had brought to-go containers with me. I would have filled them up. read more

This was the best of the bbq places I tried during my recent trip to Austin! Not as famous yet as Franklin's or LA Barbecue, this is definitely a place to keep on your bbq radar! They bill themselves as Egyptian influenced, texas style bbq, and that is a pretty good way to describe this place. The flavors here definitely have a Middle Eastern bent. This includes, in addition to your standard beef brisket and pork ribs having lamb on the menu, which I have a particular weakness for. Lamb bacon ribs: lamb bacon? Why not! these are a must try! Fatty and delicious! Mine did not come out as instagram as pretty as some of the pics here but still incredibly delicious. Pork ribs with pomegranate and za'atar: wow, this really works. Sweet and sour taste! Fresh pomegranate kernels are nice pop of flavor Beef brisket: no curve balls here, just perfectly smoked well executed brisket! Mediterranean pork sausage: a little different than the smokey links you get at texas bbq but has good natural casing snap! Egyptian Mac and cheese: not sure what the Egyptian part or this was l, but with the spices and garlic tomato sauce used here, this tasted like a lasagna! So good! Baladi salad (cucumber/tomato salad): a refreshing contrast to all the heavy meats! True to the middle eastern influences, the meals comes with some pita bread, raw onions, tahini, and garlic sauce. Do yourself a favor and make a little shawarma sando with all the various sauces and meats! There wasn't a crazy long line (yet) on a beautiful Saturday with about 10 people in line about 5 minutes before opening. The truck shares patio seating with Oddwood brewery, but you can also eat inside the brewery. Next time, I need to try the smoked lamb chops! read more

We were not impressed with the food after coming with high hopes. We had the Egyptian Cowboy, 1/2 pound of Lamb Bacon Ribs, 1/2 pound of brisket, the rice pudding, the bread pudding and the mint hibiscus tea. Of the entrees the Egyptian Cowboy (the special of the day) was the only thing we would recommend. It was merguez sausage over Mac and cheese with a drizzle of sauce, za'atar and sumac seasoned onions. The lamb ribs and brisket were cold and didn't have much seasoning so the flavor was primarily the meat with little smoke and no seasoning. The rice pudding looked elegant with its pistachio and halva topping but the flavors did not combine well with me trying to actively avoid the halva that seemed to be part of every bite. The bread pudding was better. It featured roasted chickpeas and golden raisins and was sold as being smoked but I don't remember a smoky flavor. The meal was $90+ once tip was included which was ridiculous for what we got, the quality and fact that we were at a food truck serving ourselves. read more

wowza- my new favorite BBQ spot hands down! We ordered the lamb shoulder, pork ribs, brisket rice bowl, Mac n cheese and cucumber/tomato salad. The standout dishes for us were the brisket rice bowl and the lamb shoulder. I could eat that rice bowl every day- the fresh ingredients and nuts made it so unique and yummy! The lamb shoulder was so moist and flavorful- the biggest surprise for me! The bread pudding and tea were also amazing. We can't wait to come back and try the lamb chops next time! They also have a play area for the kids!! read more

I'm so fortunate to finally try KG BBQ after reading all the hype online and from seeing the chef on a Netflix show. We came on a weekday , which meant there wasn't as long of a line. There are plenty of tables to sit down at eat. The ambiance was great. The music playing was upbeat and energetic. They offer a fusion of Texas bbq and Egyptian cuisine. I had the brisket bowl, which was outstanding. The brisket was incredibly tender, and the rest of the ingredients on the bowl perfectly complemented the meat. The Egyptian Mac and cheese and the beet potato salad were remarkable sides. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu. This is a must-try for any barbecue lover in Central Texas. read more
Tried pretty much everything here on the first go and loved pretty much everything about it. This is the first bbq joint that my wife said she would seriously crave. The food honestly tastes healthy and not as heavy as a traditional texas bbq. The egyptian fusion adds a surprising but welcoming new layer of flavor with each bite. I don't normally like fruit or nuts within a savory dish but somehow kg bbq just gets it right. The sides are also one of a kind here, not super salty and unique on their own as well. I highly recommend the mac n cheese, potato salad, and the lamb ribs, you will be satisifed. read more

Went to try some Egyptian BBQ. Our table had Lamb Chops, Mediterranean pork sausage, the pomegranate zatar pork ribs, and cinnamon lamb shoulder. Everyone agreed the Pomegranate Pork Ribs were the best by far. The second best was the cinnamon lamp shoulder. The third was the sausage. The lamb chops were a little chewy and least flavorful. The sides were tried were the potato salad as table favorite. The mac and cheese was second favorite. The cucumber was the next. The rice was only good because of the nuts and berries. The actual rice was not too good. The bbq sauce was tangy with a cherry/berry flavor. The food is from a truck. There is a covered awning with large picnic tables. There is a tavern/bar next door that appeared to let people in. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The table attendants were on top of clearing tables. We arrived while it was drizzling so the line was short. By the time we left, the weather cleared and the line was rapidly forming. read more

The food was very tasty. The line wait was about 20 mins. Food came out about 5-10 after that. Great presentation for bbq. Biggest complaint is the food was luke warm at best. Seating wasn't bad, but you will want to have whomever is with you get you a table while you're ordering. The brisket was tasty and the pork ribs were great too. Worth a stop if you're in Austin. read more
A friend took us here for lunch this weekend after raving about it. It is a food truck which I did not realize. They were out of a lot of stuff by 3pm on a Sunday. I got the lamb rice bowl and a side of the potato salad and it came out to about 27 bucks which I find a little expensive. The potoato salad was amazing. Would highly recommend that. The bowl wasn't my favorite. I know kt has an Egyptian twist on it but the meat wasn't anything too great and I felt there was too many nuts on it. The outside is cute on a nice day they have picnic tables. All in all I don't know if I would come back and wasn't blown away especially by the hype but I'd like to try the ribs next time. read more

KG is a unique spin on central Texas style bbq, incorporating Egyptian and middle eastern spices. Honestly I enjoyed everything I had! It's rare to see lamb offered at bbq places and is one of my favorite types of meat. Really liked the spice rub used on the chops and they were tender. The chimichurri alongside adds bright, herbal notes to help lighten the meal. Moving onto the ribs, another favorite of mine. The pomegranate glaze isn't too sweet or overpowering but still gives you that satisfying lick your fingers moment. Also the brisket bowl is a hefty meal and is like an upgraded version of the halal chicken and rice bowl. Since KG is parked at Oddwood Brewing there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating plus a kids play area in the back. It's a comfy place to hang out while you wait for your food and it's definitely worth the wait as the staff took care when plating, making everything looks picture perfect. read more

When I told my friends I was trying an Egyptian-Texas BBQ, they thought I was joking. But from the moment I arrived, everything--from the music to the signage and the lively crew inside the food truck--immersed me in a Middle Eastern atmosphere. We went with their recommendation and ordered the fatty brisket, which was incredibly tender, juicy, and easily one of the best I've had. We also tried the cinnamon lamb shoulder, which had a bolder flavor and slightly thicker cut, but the marinade was outstanding. The side salad, with its pronounced cumin and vinegar kick, added a nice contrast, and the Um Ali (Egyptian bread pudding) had a rich, nutty flavor that made for a perfect dessert. Despite a decent line, ordering was smooth, and we had our food in about 20 minutes. Seating is entirely outdoors, embracing Austin's casual vibe, and it's shared with a brewery where you can grab a pint to pair with your meal. The staff was incredibly welcoming and efficient. I wouldn't be surprised if they open a full restaurant soon! read more
I've been hearing about this food truck for some time now and didn't realize it was so close to me! I finally got the chance to check it out last night. Delicious! Menu was very clear on what they still had in stock and what was sold out. My boyfriend and I arrived at a really good time (~6pm) and did not find anyone in line. We ordered quickly and received our food within 10 minutes after sitting down. We got brisket, sausage, and their Egyptian cowboy mac and cheese special. Everything was extremely tasty and well-prepared. Parking is a little hard to come by given the small lot. Seating is also confusing because it looks like most seating belongs to Oddwood customers and they don't allow KG BBQ customers. However, we bought beers and sat down there to eat our bbq and had no issue. Check this place out if you're in the area! read more

This place is an incredibly delicious food truck in the Mueller area. Work is out so it gets busy. For that reason, I recommend getting there when they open during a weekday so you don't have to wait as long. You are able to take your food into the bar where the food truck is located if you don't want to eat outside on the patio. If you get there later, be prepared to wait or for them to sell out. I tried the Brisket, the Pork Rib, the Brisket Rice Bowl and the Cardamom Pistachio Rice Pudding. The taste of the bbq is very unique because the smokemaster incorporates Egyptian flavors to create a fusion and my goodness, they go perfectly together. I love the addition of pomegranate seeds to te Pork Ribs and the rub is different than anything else I've had in bbq. The Brisket was perfectly juicy as well. After trying the Brisket on its own, I realize that ordering the Brisket Rice Bowl was a little redundant so if I go back, I'll just stick with the Brisket and sides because I liked having it as its own thing. The Brisket was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture of it. Can you tell how much I'm raving about it? haha The dessert was also a new flavor for me. Not too tweet, which my partner appreciated. read more
This is really more of a 3.5 because the place isn't bad. I guess I came at a good time since my wait wasn't too long and it was relatively fast and I was able to find a place to sit to wait for my food. I enjoyed my food but it is a bit on the pricy side considering the amount of food you get. Pictured is about a pound worth of food that ended up being about $45 w/ tax and tip. Mind you, I only got meat and no sides so this is probably only enough for 1 person if they weren't hungry. The lamb bacon rib was fatty and fall apart tender. Three pieces is about half a pound. I might bring friends who are new to Austin and want an interesting place to go that they can't get anywhere else because the concept is unique and the execution is good. This isn't a bad place but I'm probably not the target audience read more

We picked up KG BBQ to go yesterday to try for the very first time. And I tell you what. As I was pulling out our bounty from our bag, I licked my hand clean after pulling out my first rib. And in this moment. I knew. We were in for a good time. I was not wrong. The rice is perfect, especially with some chimichurri on top. The Mac n cheese is a surprise! It's tomatoey, and smells almost of baked ziti. The meat is cooked well and seasoned amazingly. My favorite was tearing apart my brisket pita with some raw red onion, chimichurri, and the white sauce. Very good, you can't go wrong. But it's not the best, either. read more

Tried the new Egyptian BBQ place on Manor! It sounded unique so I was excited to try it, but to be honest-- I think I'd come back for maybe only half of the items. LOVED the tender brisket, Mediterranean rice, and parsley mixture, but felt the lamb was a tad too gamey, pork ribs a little salty, and the pasta a bit too heavy. I think it was interesting and worth the try, but would probably just go to a full BBQ spot or total Egyptian/Middle Eastern spot next time if craving the respective foods! All of the meat was incredibly juicy and well-seasoned. I highly recommend the smoked kofta and lamb chops. The sides are also very good. My personal favorites were the mac n cheese and the Egyptian baladi salad. Service and ambiance were both average for an Austin food truck. The line was a bit long but that just goes to show that the food is worth the hype. Despite the long line, we were able to find seating for our party of 10 right away. read more
Overpriced and overhyped? The salad has cucumber, tomato and onion. It couldn't be more simple. It's too salty and definitely not worth $10 for a pint. Brisket rice bowl is good, but the portion is not worth $18.50. I'll pick Salt Lick BBQ over this any day. read more
Oh my gosh. I happened to see a video about this place the day before I left for Austin so I had to try it. Everything was amazing and I want more already. We rolled up to the parking lot and was almost a little concerned that it was empty but it was hot and early afternoon on a weekday. We went up to the window to order and got a lamb rice bowl, lamb ribs, chicken shawarma pita, brisket pita, egyptian mac and cheese, cardamom pistachio rice pudding, and the bread pudding. Everyone was super nice with us trying to make decisions about food and explained that we could go inside the brewery for ac and eating. The lamb rice bowl was amazing, the lamb shoulder was so tender, moist, and flavorful and the mixture of flavors and textures with the rice bowl just out of this world. Getting those pomegranate arils for that pop of sweet brightness now and then just . The lamb ribs were also so well done and well flavored, definitely come here for lamb bbq. The brisket was tender but to me was just brisket. The cardamom pistachio rice pudding, also just so gosh darn good. I basically recommend everything but will say there's probably better brisket elsewhere. Takeaways: try the lamb and rice pudding but really, anything is gonna be great! read more
Went to Texas BBQ fest in Lockhart specifically to check out KG's and it did not disappoint. We waited in line for over an hour and got to try the lamb and country style smoked/braised oxtail with fried onions which literally quite melted in your mouth. The bursts of pomegranates on top was a pleasant surprise. I would have ordered 4 more if the line hadn't been 100+ yards deep. I can't wait to go and check out the actual food truck to order more off the menu. The hype is real people! read more

I was expecting a little more after 2 different friends recommended this spot. Maybe not eating it "fresh" and getting it delivery played a part. Or maybe I just ordered the wrong things. Instead of sticking with the traditional BBQ items, I ordered the fusion items such as the Rice Bowl Brisket, Brisket Shawarma and the Egyptian Mac & Cheese. I thought the food was salty. I'm not sure if it was the brisket itself or maybe too much tahini? I was looking for more sweet and sour flavors. The pomegranate seeds and nuts were a welcomed addition to the rice bowls. They provided a good crunch and textural component to the dish. But yeah, I just thought everything was a little one-note even though the brisket was super tender. Maybe a case of setting my expectations too high. read more
