Okay, so I have absolutely no idea who Ben or Lynn actually are. But you know who I am familiar with? Jonathan Weismann. As in, the Joshua Weismann whose YouTube recipe channel I've been following for years. And for him, I'm willing to break one of my cardinal rules: never try a restaurant until it's been open for at least a few months. I mean, how often are you going to happen to be in Austin just TWO DAYS after a chef you genuinely respect opens his first restaurant? You don't pass up an opportunity like that. The menu consists of three things: chicken sandwiches, nuggets, and fries. That's it. And honestly, when you keep a menu this focused, I expect you to absolutely nail the details. Did I expect the food to be good? Sure. Did I expect THIS? Not even close. This isn't just good chicken. This is three levels above good. This is absolute perfection. Weismann is known for his attention to texture and seasoning, and those two things are exactly what set this experience apart from anything I've had before. The sheer size of the chicken patty is almost comical. The crunch is unreal. And that salty, savory umami seasoning hits you in every single bite. It's the kind of chicken that makes you stop eating for a second just to appreciate what's happening(while willfully being oblivious to everything around me, like Joshua taking pictures with the guests at the adjacent table) Even the little things, like the perfectly toasted bun, are executed flawlessly. And then there are the fries. I figured the chicken would steal the show, but these things deserve their own standing ovation. Somehow, they're ridiculously crispy too, almost as if they've been coated in something to give them that extra crunch. Whatever the secret is, it works. Remarkably well. I don't say this lightly: this is the best chicken-and-fries combination I've ever eaten in all my years on this planet. If there's something better out there, please, PLEASE point me in the right direction. I'll happily accept the challenge. Ben and Lynn's might have just started a movement. If this is what happens when you obsess over the details and do a few things exceptionally well, count me in.

Nuggets, Sandwich, Fries

Solid sandwich, fries were good, ice cream was fun, everything else was a little lackluster. We came in on a Monday afternoon and it was pretty slow. We walk in and were immediately greeted with a firm, "Hold on". No "hello" or any other greetings were exchanged at all. As someone who has been in the service industry, this was super off putting especially considering it's the very first impression of the business. I'd be more understanding if it were busy, but there had only been 3 parties ahead of us with no line before or after us. The menu is limited with only the chicken sandwich, nuggets, sauces, ice cream, and drinks. I liked this very much because I don't like having to decide or mull anything over lol. We ordered everything. The chicken sandwich was very good. Super crispy yet very juicy on the inside! The nuggets weren't as great. The batter kept sliding off with some parts being mushy. At times, we were having to eat the batter and the chicken separately because they were falling apart. The sauces were good, but the ranch was my fav. It went so well with the crispy fries! The soft serve was so yummy!! I've never had olive oil + sea salt ice cream before and I'm really happy I tried it. Overall, if I was in the area and it wasn't busy, I'd come back for the sandwich, fries, ranch, and soft serve! I wouldn't wait in line for anything here tho, especially when the service was the way it was on a slow day.

Great place if you don't like making decisions! They ran out of 1 of the 2 entrees that they offer, so I got a B&L Classic & my partner got a B&L Classic Dipped. Sadly, I did get the chicken-ick because there was a really dark fatty ball in the middle of the sandwich. The fries would have been really good, if they were warm. I wasn't a huge fan of the ice cream, but my partner really enjoyed! The vibes were so cool! It is a very small place, but it gives old school diner. Service was amazing and the workers were very nice when taking our order! TLDR: Pros: Ease of ordering Service Vibes Cons: Food (jk! Hope to have better luck next time I go)

Ben and Lynn's is the real deal. The standout is the Yam Yum sauce, which is amazing and an absolute must-have. Get extra, because you'll want it on everything. The chicken burger is delicious. They use chicken thighs, which makes all the difference: juicy, flavorful, and far better than the dry breast meat you get at most places. The nuggets are very good too, crispy outside and tender inside, and they're even better dunked in that sauce. If you're deciding what to order, get the burger, add nuggets, and don't skip the sauce. I'll definitely be back.

When I told my husband that I was going to Austin, he urged me to try this new fried chicken sandwich spot, called Ben & Lynn's. He's a fan of Joshua Weissman, who was at the restaurant when I was there, so I had to check out the place to report back. My friend and I stopped by Ben & Lynn's around 5:30pm on a Monday. Cute restaurant, which looked like it was formerly a home. Though the interior felt limited with seating, there was plenty of spots to sit outside. I felt like we lucked out with grabbing a table inside. There were a couple of small parties ahead of us, but we had just beat a rush. We both ordered the B&L classic, but I had mine dipped. My husband asked me if it was like Hattie B's, and honestly it stood its own ground. I felt that the B&L dipped fried chicken was more of a sweet and savory sauce, which was nothing like the spicy flavor of Nashville hot chicken. I loved the crispiness of the chicken skin and the tenderness of the chicken thigh. I am not a fan of pickles, but I ate the sandwich as it was intended with its thinly sliced pickles. When I tell you that I didn't mind the pickles in the sandwich and thought they complimented it well, I'm telling you that the sandwich was that good. My only complaint was that my sandwich was extremely messy. The side of fries were excellent too. Indulge on the 4 sauces: honey mustard, yamyum, B&L, and house ranch.

Ben & Lynn's EASILY has the best chicken sandwich in town. It's so moist and juicy and everything else you would want in a chicken sandwich. But the real star of the show is the TOASTED MILK SOFT SERVE with olive oil drizzle and sea salt flakes. It's only been an hour since I ate it but I'm already thinking about when I can come back for this little treat. All of the flavors blend so perfectly well together. Josh, please please PLEASE keep it as a non-seasonal option. I need this soft serve flavor permanently in my life. Thank you in advance!

Chicken on the sandwich is the highlight as it should be!! Fried crispy and juicy thigh meat which balanced so well with the pickles and B&L sauce. Sandwich was a 10/10 (not dipped) Fries were nice and crispy! If u prefer the extra battering then they're great for u. I tend to lean towards less flaky batter. Fries 7/10 Sauces were a bit of a let down in my opinion. The B&L sauce is nice complimenting the chicken sandwich however I was looking for a sauce with some heat to balance out the sweetness. Honestly would love a classic ketchup but I know that's not quite the vibe Overall SUPER AFFORDABLE!!! And huge portions so very easily shareable. I would definitely go back :-)

I have always been a huge Josh Weissman fan and have made some of his recipes and they were FIRE!!! We were super excited to find out that he was opening up a chicken sandwich restaurant and definitely jumped on the opportunity to try them out while we were visiting Austin for the weekend. Even though the line was really long it pretty quickly. Once we got inside, we ordered the classic chicken sandwich and an order of nuggets and fries. The nuggets come with one B&L sauce but we wanted to try all four and you can pay $1.50 for one or four dollars for four so of course we got the four. For the drink, I wanted the El Berto Mexican beer but they were sold out so I went with the Love Street Blonde instead. The indoor lobby itself is not very big, but they do offer some tables in the outdoor yard, as well as some tall tables where you can stand and eat. They also have some oversized outdoor games for you to play if you dine outdoors. It was pretty clean, both indoor and outdoors to say how many people were there, but the bathrooms definitely needed some attention. Let's get into the food, the chicken sandwich was absolutely mind blowing amazing! It is too crispy fried chicken thighs that are perfectly seasoned in a super soft buttered and lightly toasted bun with some of their classic sauce and homemade pickles. The sandwich was so perfect, I think the only thing that could have made it any better was adding lettuce and tomato. And to say that this sandwich does not even have cheese is crazy because you don't even miss it at all because the flavor is so good. There is nothing like a perfectly fried and seasoned juicy chicken thigh. The chicken nuggets are the exact same thing just chopped up, and they give you a very generous portion! Out of all the sauces, we definitely could not get enough of the dill ranch, it was delicious with everything, the sandwich, the nuggets, the fries, everything! Speaking of the fries, they came out so hot and crispy and the perfect amount of seasoning. We normally always order our fries without salt because they overdo it, but these fries were seasoned perfectly. We enjoyed the sandwich, nuggets, and fries so much we are already talking about the next time we go to Austin, visiting again! Please keep in mind that they have a lot of street parking and a very small parking lot in the back so wear comfortable shoes because you might have to park a block away. And if you get hungry late at night, they do stay open late and they are open on Sundays!

Went on opening day; the soft serve was a whopping $7 with too much olive oil and salt on top for a tiny serving. The chicken sandwich was yummy just we got it dipped, which I feel was a mistake. Everything was great except the sauce, which tasted sticky, too sweet, and lacked depth. It felt like a special menu item for a fast food place (which can be good, but is a fraction of the cost). Service and ambiance were good though! Would be willing to give another shot bc the chicken sandwich could've been really amazing!

Two sandwiches (one dipped, one not), fries, 4sauces. Yum.

This place is great. We got two chicken sandwiches, one dipped one not, and fries. We also got the four sauces. All phenomenal. The food is fresh and comes out fast. The service and ambiance are top tier. They also play some jams over the speakers. There's some seating inside and some outside. Ordering is fast and it seems like people are cycling in and out pretty quickly. The price for our food + a beer, a cola + tip came out to $57. Little steep, but the experience was great. Definitely worth a visit.

Had to try out Joshua Weissman's restaurant! As expected, staff is super friendly. We went on a Saturday afternoon, not super busy, was able to order and get our food within 15 minutes. The layout of the restaurant could be better utilized to prevent the line from going out the door. Food overall was good, the chicken was extremely juicy and soft, maybe a tad bit too soft in my opinion. I did expect the dipped sauce to have a spicy kick to it, but it didn't, so I did get tired of the sweet flavor after a while . 4/5 for both sandwiches. Worth a try, just unsure if I'll crave it over the other fried chicken sandwich spots in Austin.

The breading on their chicken is elite! Their dessert of the week is toasted milk soft serve with sea salt and EVOO, I could have 10 of these! Their menu is very simple but everything is delicious!!!

Not a terrible chicken spot, but definitely not great. The chicken sandwich was pretty solid, they use thighs so it was pretty juicy and well seasoned, I got it dipped. The fries were fine nicely crisp and had a good amount of salt on them, not a lot of flavor in themselves but they did really well with the sauces. Now the biggest problem, the nuggets were terrible. They weren't really crispy, the oil that they were fried in tasted kind of weird, a little burnt. Just not a good nugget, also had very thin pieces that were like trimmings, they were like fried chicken jerky but still not crispy. Service wise everyone was really cool, the person that took my order was very nice and some other workers there were also nice, help me find seating even though it is really packed inside and out. But the person helping with getting the drinks and the sauces, they were not happy to be there apparently and clearly had an attitude. Because of the prices, I probably won't go back.

It looks like they also have a bbq spot that you can get food from but their vegetarian options were not my favorite (I dont want a baked potato with beans). I didnt really take a look at their meat options but Im sure they are better. Seating is sanctioned to deck and gravel with camping chairs w/tables I. The gravel area. Bar inside was clean and easy to order, a 20% gratuity is auto added which I forgot about and tipped an additional 20%, oops. The food there was from Fiasco BBQ and well that was disappointing. See their review for that. If the food was better we would have stayed longer. I got the seasonal sangria and it went down like koolaid, soooo tasty!

Food | 5/5 The Carolina BBQ wings are very good! Easily one of my favorite things on the menu. SOOOO good! I've tried several of their pizzas, and they've all been consistently good. I especially appreciate how balanced the flavors are. The toppings, sauce, and cheese complement each other without anything being overpowering. The crust is another highlight for me. I love a good thin crust, but there's a fine line between thin and cardboard. Loudmouth gets it right! It's thin without being dry or overly crispy, and it still has a nice texture. The tiramisu was good, too. Service | 3/5 My experiences with the service have been mixed. I've had some genuinely pleasant interactions with staff, but I've also had a few experiences that left me uncomfortable. As a black patron I've encountered microsgressions which will not go overlooked. Overall Experience | 4/5

THE LOWS: - The bar was backed up so it took about 15 minutes to get an iced tea - Soft drinks aren't refillable ($4 for a single can of Diet Coke is pretty crazy) THE PRICE: The pricing is reasonable for other similar pizza places in Austin. - Diet Coke ($4) - Iced tea ($4.50) - Italian sandwich ($19) - Big Bad Wolf pizza ($21) - Hot Boy Summer pizza ($21) - Ricotta added to pizza ($4) - Side of ranch ($1) The total was $82.87 after tax ($6.13) but before tip. (We also ordered the warm seeded focaccia for $7 but weren't charged for it) BEST BITES: - Warm seeded focaccia: the whipped honey garlic butter that comes on the side is PHENOMENAL! I could eat it with a spoon! - Italian sandwich: One of my favorite Italian sandwiches ever! The bread is soft but holds up, the spicy capicola and spicy giardiniera add the perfect little kiss of heat, and the marinated mozzarella is thick and delicious! THE VERDICT: This was my first time at Loudmouth and I had a good experience overall. I came excited to try the pizza but was a little underwhelmed... the char from the wood-fired oven is delicious but the actual dough doesn't have much flavor. There are a lot of pizza places I prefer in Austin. HOWEVER, the Italian sandwich was phenomenal and I would come back just for that! Overall, I'd recommend Loudmouth to others but would suggest trying some of the menu items other than just pizza.

Extremely disappointing service and an experience that left us feeling discriminated against…read more We had been at this bar for about an hour and had already purchased multiple rounds of drinks. As closing time approached, we went to order one last round, which is a completely normal part of going to a bar. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple interaction turned into an extremely uncomfortable experience. The female bartender, a Caucasian woman with black hair in a ponytail wearing a black tank top, had an attitude from the start. While chatting with her coworkers instead of attending to customers, she was approached by my friend, who politely asked for three Mexican candy shots. Her response was, "I guess," with a clear attitude. When my friend asked if she didn't want to make them, she bluntly responded, "I don't." She then refused to make our drinks. A second bartender, a Caucasian man wearing a Texas tank top and a hat, ended up making the shots. When we questioned the unnecessary attitude, he had no explanation and offered no comment. He could clearly see that we were upset, so he proceeded to take a shot with us and say, "Cheers." We never offered to buy him a shot, and taking shots with customers while on the clock raises another concern entirely. What makes this experience particularly troubling is that we observed white patrons being served without any apparent issues or similar attitudes. Meanwhile, we were met with hostility and an outright unwillingness to serve us. As people of color, it's difficult not to question whether our skin color played a role in how we were treated. The difference in treatment left us feeling singled out, unwelcome and discriminated against. This wasn't about being upset over a bar closing or being denied drinks after last call. We understood that closing time was approaching. We had been there for an hour, had already purchased multiple rounds, and were simply trying to order one last round while the bar was still serving customers. There was absolutely no reason for the bartender to speak to us that way or openly refuse to serve us. If you don't want to work in the service industry, perhaps it's time to find another line of work. Basic courtesy and professionalism should be the bare minimum, regardless of who walks through the door. Management needs to take this incident seriously. If this establishment genuinely has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, then there should be meaningful accountability, not just a slap on the wrist. Customers should never have to question whether they'll be treated differently because of the color of their skin. We came here to enjoy ourselves, not to be made to feel unwelcome. This experience has left a lasting impression, and based on how we were treated, I would not feel comfortable returning.
