Buffet Food.
Anthony S.

Recently attended a beer festival in the area, and this restaurant was conveniently located right near my hotel, so I gave it a shot. I chose the buffet as I was quite hungry, and didn't want to wait for made to order food, huge mistake. The buffet selection was rather small and the food was not very good. The worst baked chicken I have ever had, and BBQ Ribs that were ok but kind of tough. Biryani that had way too much cinnamon in it, and a small salad bar that was ok, but how do you not have cucumbers? One good dish was some kind of meatballs in a tomato based sauce, that was tasty. The place was clean however, and I was greeted at the door, and my server was pleasant and efficient. Doubt I'll ever go back, but I can't say never. I like to give places at least two try's.

2 Biscuits and Gravy with Hashbrowns

I kinda stumbled onto this place by accident but I was hungry and it was quick and I needed to eat before I had to be somewhere soon. They have an all-you-can-eat buffet which I was allowed to look at and decide if I wanted, but frankly I'm not a buffet guy because I tend to overeat and the quality of the food just wasn't appealing to me even though it was just $15.99. In times like this, I turn to breakfast for dinner. Prices were reasonable and I just wanted biscuits and gravy and hash browns. I want to say this restaurant has hard working and very polite staff from the waitress who had the biggest smile, to the cashier who was felt like my mom when talking to her. Such a motherly feeling. I loved it. She pulled me right in with her attention to me. The customers in here were regulars. Why do I know that? That's because they were asking the waitress how her kids were doing. They have a connection in this place. It's a family owned business even if the staff aren't actual family, it seemed like they were. The theme at The Kettle seems to be food themed city names from around the US and they have clocks all around the restaurant so to the time in those cities. However, the time is completely off. Not just the hours but also the minutes. DST must be a pain for them to sync up all the clocks. Still it's a cute theme. The inside and the outside of the restaurant was beat-up and rundown looking and the furniture, the carpet, and the buffet bar need some serious TLC. It just felt dirty. You can tell everyone is trying hard but the place needs serious renovation. Anyway, my biscuits and gravy and hash browns came out quickly and it looked delicious. There was nothing particularly wrong with the food, it tasted fine, but the biscuits were not fluffy. In fact they were very flat. They gravy was lacking and kind of sausage bits. I was surprised. Again, it's a quick and cheap place to eat and it gets the job done at a reasonable price, but this is a case of you get what you pay for. I totally like to support the local restaurants vs the chains, so I am glad I gave them a try. It just feels like the kind of place you would go to after a late night of drinking and you got the munchies. The reason for the score is mainly the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the restaurant.

The Prep Omelette was seriously so delicious and seasoned to perfection. It was well balanced and cooked well. The potatoes! YUM! They were crispy but still soft. The toast and jam...that jam is to die for! Husband enjoyed his french toast and fruit, as well! We were both very impressed. Service was good too, I was never in need of anything, and my coffee was filled when I needed it! It was also very clean and wasn't overly expensive. The donuts and pop tarts in the case looked amazing, but we didn't try them. Next time! What a gem you have here! Highly recommend!

Every dish we have tried has been fresh, tasty and great presentation. They always have a diverse spread of pastries so we grab a few to take home. All of their pastries have been amazing. My favorite is their cronut and the raspberry pop tart. Lastly and maybe most importantly, is their delicious drinks. I love the butterfly pea mimosa! Their butterfly pea palmer is great as well. YUMMY! Their service is always great. Attentive and friendly servers. The ambiance is lovely as well- very welcoming, nicely decorated and a bright open space. The patio is quite large and dog friendly. One of the best brunch spots around- we look forward to coming back.

I wouldn't say that it is top of the line cooking, but it is very delicious and definitely worth a visit this side of town. Parking can be a little challenging, they do share a parking lot with other businesses, but close in, there are not that many spots. Service is always friendly and makes you feel comfortable. Interesting atmosphere with flamingos galore and other things decorating the inside. Gives it somewhat of a party and fun feel. Food comes out in a timely manner even when they are very busy. Prices are reasonable. Give it a try, I think you'll like it. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Also, the plates are enormous, so you'll definitely have some leftovers. If you're near the airport and looking for breakfast, skip Denny's and Waffle House and opt for Sunny Daze. The price point is the same (actually probably better), so you just get way more bang for your buck. Easy choice.

(well once in taste, but I'll get to that) They have great in-house made items. Like the Challa bread, the preserves, their pesto. They most certainly know what they're doing. I had unseasoned filet mignon once, I believe it was the omelette. I talked to the manager. Now I wasnt upset, didn't send it back, I just told them what I experienced and mused that I found it odd the cook forgot a simple thing like salt. The manager acknowledged my complaint and that was all; or at least I was fine. Nope, she came back with a to-go box of croissants topped with cream and berries as an apology. They were tremendous by the way. She didn't have to do that. The ambiance is it's only weak point, but even that is minor. Simple black is fine. It's modern feeling and doesn't stand out loudly. They have outdoor seating, which early in the morning is fine, but id avoid in the summer, which will likely mean you'll be waiting, depending on the time. Oh! I forgot to mention, they have very good drinks. They really are intentional about the blend of flavors, they have a little something for everyone. All in all, I cannot recommend this place enough. It's been a shining star amongst Tucson restaurants and I am grateful they exist. Even to how they organize their menu partly by flavor profiles shows they genuinely LOVE food. I love food too, and I love here. Try this place. Today.

As a whole, I feel like the side pairing of challah toast with jam and butter is an odd choice. I also ordered the iced Thai tea, which was quite weak. Overall--I wasn't really feeling it. When you go to Teaspoon, you're really paying for ambience over quality. There's no issue with the service here, from hosts to wait staff. The food is simply underwhelming, and thus so is the experience. I wouldn't be mad to return, but I don't know if this would ever be my suggestion.

We came during May, when it starts to get warm, but he did well since there is a good amount of shade out on their patio and they provided a nice big water bowl for our special boy. The staff also were kind enough to move one of our chairs out of the way so our dog had lots of room to lay down. Staff were all very kind and never seemed annoyed with the dog (you can always tell at a restaurant if they are, and they were very happy to accommodate him). Very dog friendly!! The food: We gotta talk about their French onion soup. It was pretty dang delicious! The broth itself is quite nice, a nice cheese portion, and the baguette was divine. I also had their French Connection sandwich (with a side of fries), and it had a great combo of ooey, gooey cheese, firm and flavorful ham, and served on a really delicious loaf. Really solid fries, too. We didn't end up getting any drinks but saw several people ordering yummy looking bites. If (but likely when) we come back to Tucson, I'm making a point to return to Cup Cafe!
