the food is okay. i have been here at least a handful of times and the last time i went be the last. i payed for my food and baklava and after finishing my meal, realized i had not gotten my dessert. the man made me pay for it again. like i was trying to scam him out of a $2 baklava. he was so rude and was making a scene as i was walking out. just like most places in humboldt, they need a good lesson in customer service. read more

They have a big menu of innovative and authentic Mediterranean cuisine and they're very consistent. It's a family run place and they are solid folks. Since this was the second time I have eaten here I expected a wait but I also timed them this time using my trusty Iphone and once I placed my order it took them 38 minutes and 43 seconds. This is the best grab-n-go spot in Humboldt. Authentic Mediterranean/Greek food with spice. You will bring the garlic flavor with you after you eat! The Gyro is the bomb.... We went to this place primarily because it was within walking distance of the hotel, and we didn't want gear up to ride into Arcata proper. Well we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The chicken skewers were well cooked and juicy. The falafel was tasty and the sauces were flavorful. The only time I ever get on Yelp is to rate absolutely excellent, or absolutely terrible place. I just visited this place per my doctor's recommendation for a nearby healthy option for lunch. I ordered the lamb/beef gyro. It was literally the best thing I've eaten all year. The owner(?) who was slicing the meat was very friendly. They made a new regular today (even though I live/work 20 minutes away). I hope to go again soon. I definitely recommend this place. Food is really good, service is sub par. Decent price if you don't add too many extras. Falafel was tasty and good size. Kebabs are seasoned well and delicious. Tahini was little bit waterdown. Burgers and gyro's are the go to and tasty. Turkish coffee was bad tasting , not like Turkish or Armenian coffee served in copper pots at more upscale Mediterranean food spots. Used to eat here all the time when I still lived in Humboldt. Here visiting and it is still exactly the same....amazing! It was the first food we got this visit. I had the gyro and side salad as usual. The meat has a great flavor and I always get both the red & white sauce. They were super busy when we got in but still got our take out quick. Wonderful little shop. The Fresh Lamb kebab is fantastic, but Gyro meat is the same pre-made stuff most places get. Still good though, especially with all the fresh veggies around it. Owner takes pride in the place and runs a very clean kitchen for all to see. read more

The food was really good! My boyfriend and I are staying in Arcata for a week and we almost just got pizza and brought it back to our room after shopping at Ray's. Despite the location of Kebob Cafe (I thought it was kind of sketchy) it is nicer on the inside. I got the mediterranean salad which was really great and the dressing was delicious! We also got sides of tzatziki, hummus, and the roasted eggplant. All were great along with the grilled pita bread. We tried a grape leaf but I don't think they were for us. My boyfriend got the lamb gyro and it was very tasty!! We would definitely go back and would recommend this place. read more

Very disappointed. Was assured the food was not spicy hot. Had the falafel balls. Bitter tasting. Green dressing for the veggies was hot with little flavor. This is definitely a hot spot for the hubby and I to hit up, the food is a always delightful and hot! I get the falafel while the husband goes straight for the double meat gyro sandwhich (you know what they say about opposite attract haha). The only downside is because the restaurant is a little finding a spot to settle down in, can be a bit complex if you come during peak meal times. However I will confess one of my favorite things about this place is their homemade habanero hot sauce! It's awesome, I have a hard time finding a hot sauce that actually has some kick to it and this definitely fills the need for heat! read more

Simon Beyzade has operated this restaurant since 1997...the food was great then and it still is. In fact, it's better. Simon's mango-habanero hot sauce is a must-try. I grew up in Chicago. One of my trips back home a few years ago I was really excited to go back and have a "real gyros" from my home town. What did I discover? That I missed kebob cafe's fresh, delicious, authentic gyros back at my 2nd home in Humboldt! This place is the bomb! There is nowhere that comes even close to the food they are pumping out here. The place is always clean, you can watch them cook your food, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Staff are on it too! WE finally managed to try this place. Lamb Gyro was great. Everything looked clean and ,We cant wait to try some other dishes! as good as the food was, it was topped by the service. Great place for kebabs. Some of the best falafel I have had in a long time. Nice and crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, unlike other falafel I have had. Rice was ok. Meat kebabs are great, gyros looks wonderful. Would go here again. Plus I have learned that restaurants in strip malls are always good for great food. It smelled so good when I walked in....I had a kebab dinner (1 pork and 1 beef) it came with a "salad" that had my entire plate swimming in dressing...I was craving salt so I ordered french fries but they were on the plate drowning in the salad dressing. Bummer. The kebabs were OK but not as good as everything smelled. My group all liked their meals - some had pitas, so I'll return and next time I'll try the lamb pita. read more
