On October 13, 2019, around 1040am I had arrived at this establishment with a group consisting of 5 friends. They were busy and I was told there would be a 10 - 15min wait. I was cool with that. The waitress/bartender then asked 5mins later if my group would like to sit at a table that would be a little crowded and sat about three people and when another table was available that sat more people they would move us but at least we would be able to order they said. I was like no thank you we can wait. KC's staff then had two tables open 10mins later and put them together to accommodate my group. When we sat down a gentleman that I later found out was the owner took our drink orders. There was a soda, beer, hot tea, water, and a Bloody Mary ordered. The Bloody Mary and the beer arrived first and we never received the other three drinks. We waited for them and eventually had to ask the waitress that came by to take care of another table for the three drinks. Her response wasn't sorry but rather I wasn't told by the owner. She asked what the other drinks were and they finally arrived. We were given a breakfast menu only cuz that is what they were serving at the moment until 11AM. The time was 11:02am and 2 people in my group asked for a lunch/dinner menu and the waitress said breakfast was all they were serving. Then 5mins later someone from another table had ordered Onion Rings and the waitress brought it to our table even though we never ordered. That dumbfounded us since we were told they were serving breakfast only even though it was after 11am. I later overheard the own speaking to another table and he told them the drink specials. One of the specials was a $6 Bloody Mary with a beer chaser. I had the Bloody Mary but never received the beer chaser. I once again had to get the attention of a waitress and told her I never received my beer chaser with my Bloody Mary and the waitress was like okay. I was halfway done with my drink before I received the beer chaser. The last two issues were the water I asked for after I finished my first drink had a long hair in it that was hanging out of the glass. then we told them that our group wanted separate checks and they couldn't get that right. They brought one single check and had to ask us what each person ordered. Everyone after being forced to only get breakfast was disappointed because they wanted lunch. They also didn't care for the service, but also said that the breakfast they had was good. The atmosphere was great and they had a female solo singer performing. She mostly did cover songs. My group never caught her name but I would have to say she was great and sang like an angel. read more

French onion soup is just chopped onions in water. No cheese no croutons and cold. Fish dried out and overcooked. Good place for volleyball not it eat at. read more

Breakfast is garbage. Everyone liked the Bloody Mary but the food was gross. Microwave cheap cold heat it up nasty food. I would never recommend going here for breakfast. Drinks, sure. Volleyball, sure. Breakfast....hell no. read more

I have played volleyball at KCs for 4 years now so having been here once a week all summer I felt a review was long overdue! The food here is consistently decent, I have never had any bad to eat. My favorites are the Buffalo Bleu Wrap, Olive Bleu Burger, and the hot wings. The service is always friendly but at times can be a little slow. I don't personally drink pop but one thing people I've been with don't like is that there are no free refills because they serve cans of pop. The atmosphere is a lot of fun on volleyball nights with lots of people and good music. They do a good job of keeping the outside area clean which is appreciate because a lot of people walk around in bare feet to the volleyball courts. The volleyball I courts themselves are great! Lots of sand that is raked regularly (I've played other places it is so sparse and hard I was worried I'd break a knee cap diving for a ball). The leagues are run well, I like their app for schedules, standings, etc. I do feel the rules are a little loose at times which can sometimes be frustrating. If you're looking to signup a team to play, if you signup early (winter time) you can get a great early bird rate! Overall I think it's one of the better places in the area to play volleyball and spend some time outside in the summer! read more

My boyfriend and I just came here to eat from Chain O' Lakes state park for our camping trip. I was impressed with popcorn for the starter with no charge. It was my first time to see that because usually I would get chips for the starter. We ordered mozzarella sticks for the appetizer, i fell in love with them!! I got a grilled chicken wrap with bacon (additional charge) and I really enjoyed it. My boyfriend got Mac n Cheese burger and he loved it! If you taste water different it's because it's from the well so I would recommend to order a different drink if you're picky about the taste of water. read more

03/16/2020-The corned beef and cabbage was probably the best I ever had, no joke. I wish I could say more right now, I'm in shock. The corned beef with or without horseradish was so awesome, glad we bought extra. The cabbage is awesome. The carrots are awesome. The potatoes are awesome. I should of taken a picture but the last thing on my mind was to take a picture of the food I'm about to eat unless it's gross. The presentation was great! I'm so glad this restaurant was able to stay open during the lockdown. I went there for my first time and it was amazing. The burgers and wraps were awesome and would highly recommend them. They serve good portions. Also the service was amazing. All of the waiters and waitresses were kind and helpful. This place was very clean and would definitely come here again. Came in on a Sunday night and they were packed; which I figured had to be a good sign. Girlfriend and I got the last two seats at the bar. Girlfriend got a rum and coke and I got a beer; both were good and not too expensive. I had the chicken tenders; which you could definitely tell were homemade. My girlfriend had one of the wraps and she said it was delicious. Bartender was very attentive and friendly (sorry can't remember her name). This place had an awesome atmosphere and made me feel like I was in a small town where everyone knew everyone and everyone was a friend. BURGER FAIL We've been waiting to try this place for eight years and we finally decided to cash in on that bookmark. When we walked in the bartender told us to grab any table and a waitress would be right over. We honestly sat at our table for around 20 minutes before a waitress came over to talk to us & give us menus. I actually started looking at the menu on the webpage I was so hungry. Our waitress was nice but when we went to ask her questions she informed us that she was new and might not know the answers. I'm assuming that the long wait to get menus was the fact our waitress was being trained. Our waitress made two critical mistakes while we were ordering. The menu says burgers are cooked medium. We asked her if we could get both of our burgers cooked medium rare and we were told yes. Both of our burgers came out well done. I would have been happy with them being made medium. The cook here doesn't really know how to cook a burger to the correct temperature. We didn't complain because we don't like wasting food when there are people starving in the world. I also don't send stuff back because I don't want a pissed of cook messing with my reorder. I also asked our waitress about the fries because I typically like my fries crunchy. She informed me that the fries were shoestring potatoes. I decided to not ask for crispy because those type of potatoes are to thin to go crispy. When the fries arrived they were large French fries and not shoestring. I was really let down because I would have ordered them crispy but she gave us the incorrect info on the fries. I don't always eat fries, so when I order them in a restaurant I want them perfect. I was really let down with the meat quality of the burger. Our patties had a gamey taste to them. They reminded me of the frozen bubba burgers you buy in the store. I even had a flashback to my high school cafeteria on burger day. It is so sad to pay money for a patty like that. I wish I could go back in time and order something completely different off of the menu knowing what I know now. The sad part is that my wife didn't even eat her beef patty. She disliked the taste so much that she removed it and ate the bun with the lettuce, tomato & onion. On a side note the bun is the star of the burger. I believe I read it came from a local bakery. That bakery makes killer buns. I wish I knew where KC's orders them from because I would go there and by buns. This place was packed and it's a cute roadside bar. It was alive on a Thursday night with two volleyball games going on at the outside courts. There's also a great old barn stage and a barn bar complete with juke box and flat screen TV. It seems like a great bar to socialize with the locals. The best part was the $6 domestic draft pitcher deal. That was the deal of the century. We technically got pints of beer for $1.50 each. They also bring over free popcorn which is an added bonus. I will give this place 5 stars for heart. They seem to host many charity benefits for people in need. That is high in my book. Communities need more businesses that are actually part of the community and care about the people that live around. Would I stop back in here for a beer? Yes I would but I would probably never come back for the food especially the burger. We had such high hopes walking in but our dreams were crushed after the first burger bite. Our waitress was new and I can't fault her for starting out but she's our connection to the kitchen and she needs to know if a burger can be delivered medium rare and what type of French fries they serve. It's been a while since I've been truly let down by a burger and this was one of those moments. read more

On the way up to skiing on the exquisite (lol) Wilmot Mountain on the last day of the season, one of my friends in the car was ranting about KC's Cabin... for no real reason. Some how he got it in his head that he really wanted to try the place out on the way back. We all agreed just to go, if only to shut him the hell up. We also cracked some jokes about just how famous KC's self-proclaimed "world famous" burgers really are. I had a hard time picturing kids in Tokyo chatting about KC's burgers... but maybe they should be. Honestly, before walking in, I was expecting this place to be a dive. I was pleasantly surprised, however. The inside was moderately clean and relatively new looking. As it was March 14th, the entire place was covered wall to ceiling in St. Paddy's Day gear (upon further inspection, the Miller Lite shamrocks on the wall were originally dated 2005 and it looks like they changed the year every year with sharpie marker--awesome). When you walk in, there is a large bar section to the right complete with pool tables and video games. A much smaller "restaurant" section consisting of ~6 tables is on the left. We took a seat on the restaurant side and waited awhile for our waitress to finally come. When she eventually did, I immediately noticed the Brewers t-shirt she was wearing. That was really unfortunate, but I won't hold it against her. All of us ordered burgers--4 customers, 4 different burgers. We had talked these things up in the car all day and it was finally time to see if KC's could deliver. Get ready to be shocked... these things were great. Great tasting meat, fresh toppings and a very, very soft bun. Even the fries and pickle were good. By the end of the meal, all four of the baskets were completely empty. KC's had done it. I mocked the place endlessly and doubted their burgers all day and they shoved it back in my face. You got me, KC, you sly bastard. You got me good. If I'm ever back in Middle-of-Nowhere, Illinois, I'll be sure to eat at KC's again, but honestly I have no idea where we were or how we got there, so I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon. Came here after going to the Wilmot Flea Market because it's so close. Let me be straight up, the food is only decent. Not awful but not amazing either. I say it is decent because it was rather plain, lacking any taste or flavor whatsoever. Maybe it was my entree that I ordered that was like that, maybe not. First off, they give you popcorn which is awesome! They gave refills if your popcorn was running low. The idea of giving popcorn was smart and it worked out perfectly since I didn't have to order an appetizer! Haha but for lunch I decided on the Chicken Tacos. Honestly, I was starving so it felt great to be eating something but there wasn't much flavor. It was just.... Plain. I decided to put the hot sauce on which helped but in the end I think it was just the chicken in the taco that didn't have any taste to it. My sister ordered these chicken tenders, those were OK. I tried some and they were nice & crunchy which I love but once again, not much flavor. Altogether, I'd have to say the food isn't the best but for bar food it does just fine. And between being a bar and bikers coming here, it is family friendly so that's a plus for those with children! Friendly staff, clean restaurant, and atmosphere was good. Great place to hit before or after Wilmont. Service is always amazing, the girls are happy to work there and it shows. Food is good, they say the Reuben is the best around and I agree. Free popcorn at the bar while you wait, and food entrees are plenty big. Only complaint is the place can get crowded, so if you show up with 4 for dinner you never know what you're gonna get. I'd say its more an adult place, not sure I'd bring kids there during evenings as it gets rowdy with the post-mountain crowd and snowmobilers in the winter. (Not sure about summer months). They just added video gaming area in the back. And TVs at the bar to watch a game at. There is a fun vibe in the place, the ambiance is something I can't put my finger on but its just a fun place to hang out. This out of the way (by Chicago standards) place fit the bill perfectly after a day with the kids at a pumpkin patch. Everyone was friendly, the food was really, really good (patty melt, chic tacos, and kid grilled cheese w/ fries), the service was excellent. After our horrible experience at that burger place on Diversey yesterday, it is nice to have a great lunch at a super price with no free side of attitude. read more

Not that I think I will ever be going back, since I don't really relish the chance to ski at Wilmot again, but as place to go post-full-day of skiing, the sandwiches were excellent. Fries, not so much, but the "world famous" (self-professed by the bar) burgers, the turkey club sandwich, and the chicken italiano sandwich I had were all outstanding. Couple that with $1.50 Leinenkugel drafts, and plenty of water, it made a fine post-skiing meal. The waitress was great too. If you're hungry after Wilmot Mountain, definitely come here - it's not far to travel from the slopes, and the sandwiches are excellent. read more
