They are expanding it looks like on the outside and it is decorated with a Christmas theme complete with Santa hat chair covers! The staff is friendly and accommodating. Wide selection of food to eat! We took the honey barbecue pulled pork tacos, and the taco salad bowl. They had dog the bounty hunter on one of the big screen TVs then on the smallest TV they had a western TV channel on. I thought that was a funny mix of shows to be on in a tavern. Small pitchers were used to serve our sodas in, another funny thing! The taco salad lacked in the meat portion and flavor yet had too much lettuce in it! We stopped here last month on our way to Lake Geneva. Definitely a neighborhood spot. We have delicious burgers and fries. Service was great. Definitely not a fancy place. But clean and comfortable for our family. We'll definitely stop here next time we're headed to Lake Geneva. read more

Went at an off time for late lunch. If you haven't been in awhile they have renovated and increased seating. Very well done. Ordered their signature sandwich, the Reuben. Sandwich was excellent. Had the German Potato Salad for a side, also excellent. The sandwich also has a small Cole slaw and pickle chips served with it. Waitress was accommodating and the food came in a short time. Very nice. The only thing new, was that on our bill for 2 sandwiches there was an added 3.5% service charge which was never added before. We did not use credit, we paid cash. Last time we were there the receipt stated if you paid cash you paid one price and if using credit there was a % added, which we understood. This time it wasn't a choice, it was added into the total bill along with tax. Dining out has become pricey but adding a service charge unexpectedly to a bill is not justified. Thinking that they are using it to pay off their new addition. Food is always great though. read more

Hamburger was dry and overcooked. Ruben and tuna melt were good. One meal came out quickly. The other 2 meals came out 30 minutes later. Waitress was new and apologized but could not get the kitchen to give priority to the meals that for some reason were put on hold. They comped a beer..big deal. Oh Hell Yeah! Saturday lunch at the bar was everything I wanted. Great Bloody Mary and beer back with the house infused vodka. Very good! Our bartender was so friendly and she provided great service. I feel like a jerk because I forgot her name. Anyway, she suggested the Ruben sandwich which is apparently their signature. Well I'm here to say this is the best Ruben I've had in my life. And I am an expert since this is my favorite sandwich. Thick cut, juicy and tender, the corned beef is the best around. Great burgers too! My wife had the cheeseburger and it was freshly made, cooked perfectly and delicious. Herner's is right around the corner from our lake house. Sadly, this was our first trip. This place has grown so much over the last couple of years. I've been a couple of times in June. Dine inside or out. There is plenty of sitting. But it does have a good neighborhood following. So be aware .there may be a short wait. There are plenty of staff, so it seems that service flows well. Live music. Check the website for entertainment news. Really nice menu, something for everyones taste. There are plenty of drinks options, too. Nice large back garden. Dance area with the band stage and games. Basketball hoops. And two Bean toss set up now food dishes are plentiful. Nachos were good. And Friday night fish fry is worth a try. Cooked two ways, grilled or fried . We had both ways at our table. Stopped to avoid a storm in the convertible. Best decision! The place was packed on a Saturday at 2pm so that is usually a safe bet that the food is good. We sat at the bar. The bartender with the cowboy hat was super nice. He was attentive and friendly. We got the Reuben and the buffalo chicken wrap. Both very good. We really enjoyed the potato salad also. Living in the Lake Geneva area and the really bad and overpriced places to eat around here decided to try this place! It was last night Friday after a farmers market we were very hungry and thought the fish fry here sounded great! Wow we were wrong! Place is very nice and lots of fun stuff to do and a really nice stage for life music! The food was pretty awful and the beer was served in a hot glass which of course made the beer lukewarm. Yuck! We order the 3 piece breaded haddock and lathe staff was very nice so that was a night spot! The server told us right away the food was 35 minutes as we're sitting down. At after 7 it shouldn't really take that long for bar food so we assumed they we're understaffed as most places are these days! The fish was way overbreaded and so overcooked we had to chip away the breading to eat the fish! We ask when we ordered for extra tartar sauce and they brought containers of sour cream the server said the staff doesn't know the difference! What! Tiny little cups of applesauce and Cole slaw we didn't get and had to ask for them. We all had really bad indigestion and yeah not going back maybe for drinks or to see a band. Hello, I am currently in Twin Lakes, IL working a country music festival. We just finished a long day of preparation for this festival and was looking forward to a beer and some fried food. We came across this bar and grill, and I must say, this was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. We were told upon entry that the kitchen was closed so we were unable to get food - which we were sad about but understood bc it was almost 10pm. We proceed to be told that we could sit anywhere but had to order our drinks from the bar, which we said "okay no problem". Once we got our drinks we proceeded to notice other parties enter the bar and were all being served and those whom had arrived after us were ordering food. The food was then served to their tables not long after they ordered. When I asked why we were told the kitchen was closed, the response was a hesitant "oh we have a late night menu". It seemed pretty intentional that they did not want to serve us food. It was one of the most negative experiences I have ever had a bar. Never going back again, and highly don't recommend. read more

I have mix feelings about Herner's. Most times the food is good! There has been a night or two where it was just okay. Normally my partner and I go on Monday nights for Extreme bar bingo where it does get packed fast. We normally get greeted and served right away but the last time no one came to our table until my partner had to get up and walk to the bar and say "Hey no one has got us drinks or our order yet". They didn't really do much about us waiting 20 mins to be taken care of. We kept coming because we enjoy doing the bar bingos but something about Herners just isn't as fun as other places we have gone to. The atmosphere is very busy and they do trivia every 5 balls they call which was cool but then after it keeps going 10 more times it was like we are here for bingo not trivia keep going. We feel like we just go to herners if we feel like it and because it's 3 mins away from the house. But we don't make an extra effort to go anymore like we do other places. read more

This is a good local place. We had a huge turkeys club. I had to eat it did assemble. The chili has a good flavor and very tasty. The Italian beef had a nice flavor. And the bread was soft not hard. I had had a beef the day before and it did not have as much flavor As this one. The slaw was creamy and good. The fries were nice and crispy. read more

If you are in the Twin Lakes area, then you should definitely check out Herner's hideaway. Locals come here because it's clear they care about what they're bringing out to you. Aside from the awesome food...they often have bands in the evenings. If you don't want to be inside, then you can always go outside to the stage or play sand volleyball, bags, or shoot hoops. They have nice little fire pit set up and a great outdoor patio that is non-smoking...love! They are known for their Reuben sandwiches, which when we went at lunchtime multiple people ordered... And I can see why! The corned beef is so good! I hate Rye bread, so I got mine on Texas toast, which was chefs kiss! My husband got the Cuban, which was also really awesome... And we were very full! We could only eat half of our sandwiches between the meat stack, drinks, and fries. And don't forget you are in Wisconsin! So they definitely give you a generous amount of cheese... The cheese pulls on the Cuban were amazing (see pic)! Great place to grab lunch or to have a late night drink! read more
