Good food, good portions, for reasonable price. Friendly staff that was very attentive.

After going to Local Folks for over 40 years, I think the time has come for the cook and the waitresses to wear hair nets. I found a number of curled up hairs in my toast today. This is the first time I have ever found such things in my food but the waitresses hair if everywhere and I am not sure about the cook. Everyone around food needs a hairnet. I will continue to go to Local Folks but will take a better look at my food from now on. read more

Food was good and at a fair price. Two home cooked breakfast for 25 dollars, can't beat it. It's a little establishment with good food. Service was quick and friendly. read more

Pick up order, food was good, but my order was incomplete. This wasn't the first time. I did call and tell them and the employee was very rude to me. I wasn't accusatory, just wanted to let them know because it's happened twice before. Twice I didn't receive the soup and today I was missing cheese sauce. I didn't call the other two times-just let it go. She basically told me I was lying. I'm a woman in my 70s and was not only surprised, but sad an employee would treat a customer with such a lack of respect. The good news is this time I wasn't charged for the missing food. read more

Great small town place! The name says it all - Local Folks Restaurant & Pub lol. It really was filled with mostly local folks. Service was local friendly, you know, the "what can I get you, hon?" kind. Love it! We went on a Friday with a group of friends. Hubby got the Friday Night Fish Fry with fries. The fish is all you can eat, and you can get both beer battered or baked cod. They were not stingy with the portions! And it didn't take 30 minutes in between to get more, so all the guys on the table (they all got the fish lol) were super happy. Hubby says it wasn't out of the world delicious, but pretty good, as were the fries. I mean, he had like 3 portions of the fish. I got the strip steak prepared with garlic butter and salad and mashed potatoes. Hubby had the mashed potatoes, which were good. Salad was very fresh, with a side of dressing as I had asked. Nothing spectacular, but I hate it when you see wilted veggies on a salad and this one was crispy fresh. The steak was market priced, but reasonable, under $15. I'm not sure what cut of meat they used, but it wasn't the most tender or fatty. I should have asked before asking for a medium well - had I known, I would have gone medium rare. Garlic butter was delicious. A friend had the same steak with sautéed mushrooms, and it looked juicier than mine. But probably tasted about the same haha. Overall, a nice casual place to hang out with family and friends. Great vibes and happy service. read more

Haven't had anything there that wasn't delicious. Great atmosphere. Small town feel. Bingo Wednesdays! You have to check these guys out

Service was great! Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. The food itself were all decently priced and good. Nothing spectacular but for good ole breakfast diner food, I would definitely go again. Came with my family as we were visiting Lake Geneva and the ambiance on the outside seemed a bit isolated just because it is farther away from the downtown area. Once inside, it gave a warm family vibe. read more

Heard about this place through the grapevine. Off the beaten path, but well worth the find. Went here on a Friday afternoon for a quick bite. I call it a local bar/café, with rustic roots. Anyway, started out with a Bloody Mary (perfectly made), and had a Liene side car. Soup of the day was beer cheese. Excellent flavor! Had their fish fry and it did not disappoint. Three pieces of deep-fried cod, golden french fries, and coleslaw. My girlfriend had a beautiful cob salad, garnished with bacon, egg, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, and fresh mushrooms. Reasonably priced items! Our server was very cordial and was very attentive. Not very much lot parking, but some on the street. read more

Good Patty Melt. We stopped for lunch after visiting the Mushroom Farm up the street.

Great home cooked food always inviting. You can never go wrong at local folks. Great fish fry on Fridays.

This Tavern/Restaurant. Was cozy and very clean. My Wife and I had the Cheese Burgers, and they were the Best that I've had in a long time. Wait staff was Friendly and spot on with service. A Wonderful, Quaint, place to eat. We highly recommend it. read more

Myself and a different party came in Saturday morning for breakfast. After sitting down and getting a menu, was told they were no longer serving breakfast. As I was set on eggs, I left. Checked my watch and it was 11am. Shame they are so strict with the cutoff time. The other party left too. Walking out the door, the stranger turned to me and said it was ridiculous they wouldn't serve breakfast. read more

Great tasting food no matter the time, great vibe and an amazing park across the street for kids.

We have been trying to find a local place for breakfast for 5 years and nothing! So the other day we were sitting around the lake and I started asking everyone for suggestions and Old Folks came up. So my wife and I went on a quest to find Old Folks on the Old Hwy 50. We could not find a phone number or even address for this place. So we decided to use our Smart Phones. We were able to use our technology and zoom into a map of the area and then I saw something called Local Folks on the map. Of course, all of the locals had the name wrong. As soon as we walked in we were so excited to have breakfast here. This is our new place and the prices were amazing. They also have a kids menu too which is really nice. I highly recommend the Silver Dollar Pancakes...it makes it fun for them to eat. I had the Eggs Benedict Sandwich...which was Wisconsin Style...smothered with cheese...I had to use a fork and knife to eat it. It was really good. My wife had the hashbrowns with veggies...they were really good. We also had some biscuits and gravy for desert. Oh yeah and the bill was cheap too!!! Everything was amazing...check out my photos for some of the breakfast dishes. We will definately be coming back here. Also our waitress was really friendly too and she seemed like she had been busting her ass off since 6am...we got there at 10:30am on a Saturday. This place also has lunch and dinner too and a full bar when you walk in. We did not try any of this but we did notice that there was a Bloody Mary Special on Sunday...so we may have to try that out! read more

I have been to Local folks several times and each time the service and food has been good. So I decided to go again so my step dad could have liver and onions. Needles to say it liver and onions were good. While I ordered a steak and sauted mushrooms. The steak had no taste whatsoever and the mushrooms were as dry as could be. The clam chowder soup was great and so were the breadsticks. I would recommend this place to anyone. Just won't be ordering the steak again. read more

Came in for the first time and I will say - everyone was super friendly. The wait staff is all great and the place was clean. We came in for dinner and the food was average - the steak had no flavor really and the salad looked like it was dumped out of a grocery store bag. The cheeseburger soup is NOT pretty to look at but it did taste pretty dang good. We will come back for breakfast and test it out! read more

Stopped in for taco Tuesday and got the last tacos of the day. Food was good. Tacos were fresh. Could have used more spice but, hey, they have to serve then to everyone so spicing things up probably wasn't an option. Wife had the half chicken and it came with home made potato chips. Service was fast and friendly. Will definitely be back. read more

This is not the local folks it was not long ago. We came out with ticks on us. Took 45 yo get our breakfast. They harassed me about my service dog. We eat here all the time but I must say between the long food time, ticks and harassing me about my service dog this is our last time at this place! read more

I love the environment here and the small town feel when you walk in the door. The food is always good too and the prices reasonable. My only complaint is if you don't get there early enough they run out of bacon and this has happened on multiple occasions when I've visited this establishment. Don't worry though bc the ham is tasty too. read more

Great service, nice people and the best fish fry for miles!! Loved going to this little place.

We always loved stopping by Local Folks for dinner and drinks but needless to say, it's time for us to take our business elsewhere! Not sure if the place is under new management or ownership...but things sure have changed. Local Folks use to be a family favorite but we've gone there a couple of times this late winter / early spring with some VERY disappointing experiences. On two occasions we stopped in for their "Taco Tuesday" special. Both nights we arrived around 6:30 p.m. only to be told that they were already "out of taco meat" - despite the dining room being fairly empty. (Their Taco Tuesday menu is quite limited and just about everything involves the taco meat.) On Memorial Day we thought we would try Local Folks for breakfast. We arrived around 9:45 a.m. with friends from out of town. Upon entering the restaurant we were informed by the waitstaff that they were "completely out of everything - we are no longer serving." Just recently, we stopped in for dinner around 7 p.m. with another couple - only to be informed that they were out of both salad and soup...which is offered with their dinner menu items. Then to make matters worse - we've noticed on a number of occasions that the bartenders frequently go outdoors to have a "smoke" - leaving the bar unattended. My gosh - what is going on at Local Folks? Not sure how a business can survive with practices like this. I know we gave them a fair chance but they keep disappointing us. Time to take our local business elsewhere. read more

Good local food at good prices. We were camping in the area and would definitely come back again.

Great breakfast, (world's greatest biscuits and gravy). Friendly people and priced right.

Got an Italian beef from here that was delicious. Only thing that confused me was it came on a hamburger bun, not on a sub roll or bun like normal. The fried green beans and the burgers are always really good though, and of course the breakfast is amazing. read more

This is the best hands down breakfast and Friday fish fry around. The clam chowder is the best!!!!

Went in for the first time ever trying their Saturday nite prime rib dinner at 6:45. (They start serving at 5pm).1st sign was they were out of soup. 2nd sign they were out of cuts. They only had end pieces left and they were well done. 3rd sign the meat, potatoes and vegetables were very COLD! And to top this whole scenario off. It sure wasn't prime rib. It was a tasteless piece of meat for 27.00! I told the waitress and all she said was I'm sorry. We were charged for king cuts for dried out end pcs. I had to put a 1 star which was way over deserving. We are local folks and this was by far the worse prime rib ever. That cook needs to go!! read more
