This place is so cute. Service was great. We loved the fried pickles. My parents loved their brat and burger. I got the soup flight and the cups are a bit small compared to other soup flights I've had before. Beer cheese soup is the best, I'd just get a bowl of that next time. This was a GREAT find on the drive from Chicago to Madison, WI. After a few hours of corn fields and gas station eateries was happy to find this little town off the highway. I have driven through Richmond a few times but never stopped. It always looked like a cute little town. I live about one hour away. My hubby and I decided to take a drive and check out the BratHaus. So glad we did! The restaurant decor and vibe are fun. We had great service. We loved our drinks and food. Yes, the pretzel is huge, really good and totally worth the cost. I don't like sweet drinks and I like to try different kinds of drinks. I had the fig mule. Yum! My hubby had a German beer in a big boot mug. I had the brat with gyros meat on it. Very flavorful. The brats here are more traditional, like a white brat. The gyro meat was tender. The side of coleslaw was tasty. My hubby had a burger with cherry shredded pork on it. Different and delicious. The one thing that I originally missed is the fact that they do not have any normal silverware. On first few visits we thought it's somewhat temporary situation. However now several months later it stays the same. We very much hate to use those plastic forks and knives, and even more so how much it hurts the environment. Food is GREAT and the portions are large. First time I went I ordered the Friday fish fry. It was outstanding. And the waffle fries (potato pancakes) were unexpected and delicious. Today I had a bratwurst. It was huge and did not disappoint. Now they have Yuengling. A great beer added to an already extensive list. Went there for dinner tonight, Sunday 3/22. we waited for 50 minutes before a waiter came over to take our order. They were very understaffed. Not sure I will ever go back. It was the worse service I have ever had. When we told the waiter we needed to pay for our drinks because we were not willing to wait any longer she seemed relieved that she didn't have to wait on us. Chris, our bartender, was awesome! He was knowledgeable about all the beers and cocktails, and gave great recommendations. He chatted with us but also kept a keen eye on the bar and never missed serving his patrons. His barback, Connor, kept up a good pace and was always active. We ate at the bar but the servers looked to be excellent too. My only complaint would be the hostess who I thought was an owner by her loud and bossy attitude with her fellow coworkers. She seemed friendly enough with some patrons but we were grateful every time she left our vicinity. If not for Chris and the excellent food and beverages we would not have spent what we did and stayed as long as we did. We will definitely come back soon! read more

My mom and I were in the mood for German food and stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting Lake Geneva. Brat Haus is about 10-15 minutes from Lake Geneva in Richmond, IL and is a hidden gem! I love how they have kept true to their roots with this space and it is really cozy inside. My mom and I got the sausage sampler and cheese curds. The cheese curds with ranch sauce was so good. Breading was on point and the cheese was fresh and local. The sausage platter was very satisfying. We had a sampling of jalapeño Cheddar, polish, bacon Cheddar and swiss bratwurst. All of them were so good and they give you a nice portion. It comes with sauerkrat, caramelized onions and mustard. We really enjoyed both appetizers. Overall, mom and I loved this place! We were out for a drive and landed in the cute town of Richmond, and discovered Richmond BratHaus as well! What a lovely establishment. The building is old and the bar and grill compliments the architecture so well. The staff were all so kind and friendly. There were a nice selection of draft beers from many local breweries. So many choices! We tried three different fall beers and they were all yummy. We also enjoyed a brat sampler and tater-tots. We were on a return bike trail ride and needed to refill our water bottles on this hot - 93 degree day. We went down the street to find restaurant or somewhere to fill our bottles. Waiting at the cross walk for cars to stop was ridiculous, when suddenly appeared Kimmy, the cute hostess from the Brathaus pressing the cross walk button for us. She offered to fill our bottles with ice and water. Check #2! We stopped in and had a beer and cocktail in this cute bar and grill - love the atmosphere, patio and new tables and bar stools against the exterior wall. Love the garage style windows that are opened raised to let a cool breeze in. The drinks were refreshing and we were treated very kindly. I can't comment on the food, because we only had tater tots. Their Brats are Amazing!!! Who says Wisconsin has the best Brats? This spot is almost in Wisconsin. This place is about a mile from the Wisco border but this place does it right when it comes to brats! The only critique I have is the fries. Arrived at the BratHaus in Richmond after driving around the town looking at other places to possibly eat. The area does lack parking at establishments so most is on street or side street areas by or close to the venue. So finding a place is first come or as someone leaves or walking a bit. We parked Main Street after someone left their spot right across street of BratHaus. They said that outdoors was pet friendly or if service dog they were allowed inside. Our dog wasn't service; but we also preferred outdoor seating anyway. We checked with host and she lead us to outside area. This bar/restaurant is a very old place with a lot of character (our kind of place) creaking floors; lots of old wood; old style bar. Outside was nothing fancy. A 30 x 40 foot area with about 10 tables. We sat down. Only 1 other couple out there. I had grabbed a menu and beer list on the way out. Our waitress came around and we ordered some drinks; stout ipa and pineapple beer for my wife. We ordered cheese curds as appetizer. Have to have cheese curds went near Wisconsin or at a brat place. Waitress was not all that friendly very down to business; took order. It was hot, so typically pet friendly places have water bowls for customers pets they didn't or were we asked if we'd like water or some water for the dog. Our appetizer soon arrived; brought out by a server/bus boy. We asked him if we could get waters and also maybe a dish with some water for our dog. He pleasantly repeated our request and promptly brought a plastic carry out dish with water in for our dog and waters for us. In the meantime another group of 6 came in. The oldest men of the party came over to park to pet our dog. Very nice gesture! We chatted back and forth for a bit. Our main food had arrived; I ordered curry wurst with fries and wife ordered a gyro brat; ( best with gyro meat and Tzatziki sauce abundantly covered over the gyro meat; (Big Fat Greekwurst) The brats were very big ( should be fir the price of $10 $12. Served on pretzel dough buns- just right amount of crispy. The food was good, very good! Again Toby brought out the food. Waitress waited on other group earlier and took drink order. When she delivered the drinks she dropped the whole tray near their table spilling all drinks and broken beer bottles. So had to clean up and redo order. She was really embarrassed. We ordered another drink; pineapple beer and Guinness nitro. It arrived safely! The food was plentiful but I didn't get a lot of curry taste until my last few bites of the brat. My wife's was very tasty and good size for the price. This location won't win any 5 star rating as in classy places but it is down home European architecture and a place with some character. I would l assume during summer; more outside dining would be needed. If I were them I'd make some changes and enhance the existing culture to the beer garden; nothing fancy just authentic. If your in the area; it's a nice place to stop; but your not getting the Ritz; but you didn't come for that either; Enjoy! read more

The waitress was very nice helpful and attentive the whole time. Great customer service. We ordered a few different dishes and both were very good. I wish I could eat three meals and I couldn't decide because it all sounded so good. The food was as good as it sounded on the menu. They have a good drink selection which is nice. Good beer selection which is important to me. 4 stars maybe 3 for one reason. While this would not have been a factor last year, it is in current times. Multiple employees including the bar tender had no mask on, with a dozen people at the bar. Very disappointing and little regard for the safety of the guests. None the less in a state where it is mandatory. Being one that had Covid, I would not wish it on someone else and staying on top of your employees to wear a mask is important.
