This is a very busy bar/restaurant. We came in with 3 kids and they found us a table for 5. The food was fabulous. I just want to say the best burger I've had in a very long time. BS 3% INFLATION FEE. We were camping at the state park form the road and wanted an easy dinner. We stopped in for pickup and got 3 burgers. Burgers were fine, pricing was as expected for the burgers at a bar. UNFORTUNATELY THEY CHARGE A GARBAGE "3% INFLATION FEE". For 15-18 bucks a burger is think it's safe to assume that their pricing has already been adjusted for inflation and now it's simply gouging their customers for more. Problem is i wasn't notified, as instead of a printed bill, you get the stupid little credit card machine that doesn't allow you to check the bill. Really disappointing. read more

Such a fun and cozy place to grab a drink. This place is awesome any time of the year. I'm the summer they have volleyball and bags leagues. They are close to richardsons corn maze so we stopped in after a fun night there for a drink and some pizza. The service was great and the pizza was delicious. read more

Mixed review here. A couple of weeks ago I stopped in for lunch because of a craving for a Ruben. They claimed to have a good one. I have to agree, it was very good! However, plastered all over the joint are claims for their "world famous burgers". I had to return. Sadly, it was a bust. Although the presentation looked great (for a burger), the taste was awful. Over seasoned so much that I'm not sure what meat I was eating. I only finished half before pushing it away and washing down a glass of water...which by the way had a service charge. Then, because it was Tuesday, they have a $2 off deal on menu burgers. That helps a bit....oh, but only if you have beverages with it. Hmmm. Nothing in their menu states that as the photo shows. Plus, they did charge me for the water! Out the door...$17...ouch. So thumbs up on the Ruben. Thumbs down on most everything else. Will not make this a destination for my riding group. read more

KC's Cabin has been around for awhile, located just over the border in IL. They are known for their burgers. They have drink specials. It changed ownership about 2 years ago and things have changed a little bit. Back when I started coming here there were dollar bills stapled all over the walls. The staff knew all of their customers. They had contests during various holidays, along with drunk bingo. They also had outdoor concerts along with volleyball leagues during the summertime. Once ownership changed the dollar bills were removed from the walls, some of the staff changed and the prices changed. Their pizza and Prime Rib dinner is very good. I still enjoy the atmosphere and many of the locals who frequented KC's back when Lynn owned it still come in. It is in a prime location right on the corner of 173 and Wilmot Rd. They also offer breakfast on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. read more

I had driven by multiple times and decided to stop for dinner. Nice selection of seltzers. Got the fried picked which were nice. Ordered 2 entrees- one a side salad and wings. Asked for the salad to come out first, it was delivered at the same time as the wings. The wings were ordered extra crispy and they were soggy. They were also described as naked wings and they were breaded. The other entree ordered was the fajita salad. Very disappointed- asked for no mushrooms. Was delivered with mushrooms. Sent it back and the mushrooms were just scrapped off the plate and many were left in the salad. The mushrooms were mentioned once again to the server with no resolution. The green peppers were so mushy they were not edible. Total bill was $60- crazy for food that wasn't very good. Won't be back. read more

Love getting a drink here- decided to try their breakfast on a Saturday morning. Great breakfast that hits the spot. Mimosa flight was only $10 and had 4 tasty mimosas. Bloody Mary was a standard, good bloody. Breakfast was very good, no complaints at all. (Besides my boyfriend said the skillet was a little small). We wanted to stop here for a long time. Noticed their sign for breakfast and thought to bring our kids here on our way to buy fireworks in WI. Got seated at 1105a and asked if they were still serving breakfast since everyone seated around us still had more than half plates. The server told us no. Then a man with kid/s showed up and another server who appeared to be in a relationship with accommodated them for breakfast while our children had chicken tenders as a weak alternative. From what we observed, great service at KC's only happens if you're dating the staff. We won't be coming back anytime soon nor recommending. We came out here for a race near by. We wanted some bar food so we found KC's on google. The owner clearly told us the wait was about 45 mins since it was a bit busy, and we dis not mind. I will say the wait seemed about 5 minutes to us because of how AMAZING the service was. The fact the owner went up to every single table to ask if they were ok or needed something just to me meant alot. He stopped at our table greeted us and chatted with us for a bit. You can just tell he is a kind hearted person. Waitress was super nice and fast! Last but not least the food was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! A friendly and cozy place for a drink and or a snack. The 50 cent Monday night tacos are tasty and have a generous filling. Those in the know ask for sour cream and chopped tomato on the side. Waitstaff was "right on" when we needed something and separate checks were no problem. The owner (K.C.?) stopped by several times to make sure we had everything we needed. This place seems to have a love it or hate it reviews, for me it's a good place to grab lunch, they have some pool tables and pinballs, type of mid west bar ambience, they apparently also have beach volleyball when the weather permits, as far as the staff they are super friendly every time I'm here and they recognized me from the second time I came over, the food is good but you have to align your expectations to the type of restaurant you are walking into, this is by no means a 5 star restaurant, but the reviews are not meant to categorize restaurants to their star level, they are supposed to review a restaurant on their own merits for the type of place you are walking into, for a bar/pub in a small northern Illinois town for me it's a 4 star, do they have the best burgers I have ever tasted? Some of our favorites are: Starters: Irish tots, battered elote bites, wonton mozzarella sticks Entrees/soups/salads: chili, pizza (1/2 price on Sundays), patty melt (add thousand island on the side w/tater tots), chef salad, and the ribs Fun for volleyball in the summer and bingo on Tuesday's too! One thing they have started is adding a fee for paying with credit cards. I don't know if this is since Covid or what, but a bit off putting. They do have a sign about it on their door upon entering too so it is not a surprise. It is what it is.
