The Hangover Special with over easy egg and pancakes. Fantastic!
    Mark B.

This was my first time at the Cubby Cafe since their move to a stand-alone building. I'm glad to say that the food is as good, if not better than I remember it. We hadn't had breakfast and I was famished on our way back to IL from WI on a typical weekday afternoon. I don't remember the exact name of the dish, but it was hashbrowns mixed with bacon and sausage, covered in sausage gravy with an over-easy egg on top, just for good measure. Here's what made this mid-day breakfast memorable. The hashbrowns were really crispy. I love them like that. The bacon and sausage were plentiful, but not over the top and neither one was ridiculously salty. The gravy (of biscuits and gravy fame) was right on the money. It wasn't too thick or thin, had good seasoning and plenty of sausage chunks. In addition, the egg was just right over easy, and the side of pancakes rounded the entire meal out. On top of all that, the coffee was really good and served in the classic thick-walled diner coffee mug, which was great. I strongly recommend The Cubby Cafe for breakfast, any time of the day. We'll be back the next time we're in that neck of the woods.

(OPEN SINCE April 23') I have been wanting a place to open locally where it would compete with simple cafe in lake geneva. The cubby cafe has ALOT GOING FOR IT. Despite it being open for such a short time the quality is good. A few observations 1.FAST SERVICE. (They were never rude to me despite needing my table for a large party) 2. Clean and new. (Good ambience and VERY BUSY) 3.VERY nice staff and attentive without being pushy despite being really busy 4. The FOOD VERY GOOD...nothing out of the ordinary but cooked well and not overdone. 5. Right on the bike trail..LOVE THIS 6. Ample parking. Very nice that they are connected through the back to tryon grove road for an easy exit. 7. For warmer weather they have a small patio which is available for outdoor seating. (See point #5) I got a platter with scrambled eggs and corned beef hash as well sausage with orange juice.. This place is my new go to. Improvements?...add items as an add on like goat cheese and instead of toast have options like corn or flour tortillas. Also add almond or oatmilk as an alternative to cream.

    Philly cheesesteak sandwich.

The food was good, the staff is great every time I've been there. As far as the ambiance it's pretty basic for a diner setting.

I had Buddha bowl last week, healthy (only 2 falafel in it tho, but it's still good) Veg Chorizo tacos (or the wrap) 10/10 I also had the deserts which was like a cake or brownie. 10/10 I can continue the list but overall this place AMAZING. Also they have a rewards system so you come back, you get deals and $ off. Sadly, if you don't like avocados, might not be for you. (I have a friend... oof) also free fruit water, and they have I think avocado flavor coffee? And smoothies/lemonades. There is Naperville, and tinley locations and I like both, tinley has more seating (big family 4+) while Naperville is more casual 4 people chill. Service is friendly and chill. Even when it's late at night, like 9pm they treat you like a customer and not a "omg why you coming in late I'm mopping the floor..." kinda way. They really do treat guest well. my bad for coming in late sorry... I was hungry! Love this place!

I was able to try avocado cheesecake and avocado brownie both was very delicious. They put them in bowls that look like they were made of avocado leaves. Neat. I had one of their sampler which included avocado deviled eggs, avocado egg rolls, avocado fries, and avocado tomato bruschetta. All I can say is it was very yummy. Along with their avocado colada I ended up being very full. I also ordered a avocado Buddha bowl and avocado strawberry banana smoothie. Which I ended up bringing home because I was just too full. I tried a few sips of their watermelon cucumber juice drink. It was delicious but not my favorite. Yet I've come to understand I'm just not a fan of watermelon juice yet I like watermelon. This place is located in downtown Naperville. I'll update once I try the other things that I brought home. Avocado banana strawberry smoothies. Yummmy The Buddha bowl was good. I loved the avocado dressing just needed more of it. Some pieces were A bit spicy to me. Yet, my daughter stated it was not even a bit spicy. I have a lower than low spice tolerance. Overall I enjoyed this avocado concept restaurant and I will return. Also I enjoyed how the place was decorated. It had abocado facts. And lovely avocado king mural on the wall. Having the free infused water tanks available while you wait (even for pick ups ). added to the warmth of the place.

We have dined here on several occasions, and it does seem to improve with age, particularly as a neighborhood destination for drinks. In warmer months, the rooftop is a genuine asset--an inviting spot for a pre-dinner cocktail or a relaxed evening out. On our most recent visit, a cold evening, we were seated immediately, a welcome efficiency that set a positive tone. The dining room's very high ceilings, while attractive, do contribute to a chill during winter months, making the atmosphere less cozy than one might hope on such nights. Service, however, was attentive and efficient throughout the meal. The bar continues to be a strong point. A well-made martini impressed my wife and was fully consistent with our prior experiences here. The French onion soup stood out as a comforting and well-executed choice, particularly satisfying on a cold night. Entrées were solid and competently prepared, though ultimately unremarkable--good, but not memorable. Overall, this is a restaurant that delivers dependable food and service without striving for distinction. While the kitchen does not reach for the extraordinary, the drinks alone make it a worthwhile stop, especially when paired with the rooftop in summer or a well-crafted cocktail at the bar year-round.
