My husband, toddler and I had breakfast at Midwest Breakfast Co on Sunday. We ordered soup and it was room temperature. The waiter who I believe to be an owner had said that they took it off the burner early. We carried on eating and feeding the baby veggies from the soup as we were very hungry and he assured us it was ok. A bit later in our meal, we overhear a conversation between the chef and our waiter that was disturbing. The chef asked him where he had gotten the soup and he responsponded that he got it from the tube on the counter... the chef responded back that the soup to serve was on the burner and that soup he served us was on the counter all day long. I assume it was never cooked at all and hear we are feeding our toddler. The man ignored this and carried on like we did not overhear this conversation, no apology aside from taking one soup off the bill when we said it was cold. He then sat to eat his own meal and sent the young server over to give the bill and lie to us that we misheard the conversation. A coward and a horrible business man. We will not be going back here again, it was great service years ago but this is sadly no longer the case. read more

Service was quick. Sat down with five people and immediately the waitress gave menus. We had drinks quickly, and soon after ordering the food was here quickly. Bathrooms are also very clean. The environment is spotless. Date of visit: 5/8/22 We decided to go out for breakfast while staying in the area and this place was so close that we couldn't pass it up and it's a good thing that we did not as it's a great little breakfast place. Our timing was great as we lucked into an immediate table, but it was directly next to the door so we got the pleasure of people standing in close proximity to our table for much of the meal, not to mention a cold draft every time someone opened the door. There is a second door that was left open but I would have preferred it stayed closed as the breeze got old fairly quickly. Our server, Birdie, was super sweet but definitely overwhelmed with the crowds today. She handled the masses with aplomb but definitely could have used some help. The restaurant does a brisk carryout business and I suspect that's why our food took so long; normally breakfast food is practically fast food speed, but this was definitely a slow pancakes and french toast meal, though in the end it was worth it. The prices were good and the food was quite good. The battered bread, a.k.a. french toast, is like funnel cake! And the pancakes were great, with that slight crispiness to them that really sets them apart from what I can accomplish on the home skillet. read more

If you're seeking friendly service, very good coffee, and a Reuben sandwich that is one of the best I've had (in-house cooked and prepared), you can't go wrong with the Midwest Breakfast Co. While it does include breakfast (didn't have the cornbeef hash but I'll assume it's great because they use the same for the Reuben), on this visit it was lunchtime and they met expectations! Our server was kind, transparent on where the foods/ingredients were from (local vs. Sysco, etc.), and the prices were very reasonable. This is a return-visit location for us! read more

We did carry out for breakfast today and it was delicious! I'm always on the hunt for homemade corned beef hash and theirs is delicious. Freshly made, mostly corned beef, and crispy. Everything I love My husband ordered the meat lovers omelette which was also very well done. It had a really nice amount of bacon, sausage and ham inside. The side of fruit I received was beautiful. Came here for the first time and needless to say won't be headed back. We weren't acknowledged for the first ten minutes of being seated. Yes it was busy but the place is not big and there were 2 servers. After finally getting our order in, the food was at the table with amazing speed. But then the food was not the greatest. And then my $6 orange juice was never delivered But they charged me for it. After eating, I had to ask the bus person for my check. So, I am on a roll for picking 5-star breakfast cafes recently because I ran into another one yesterday; but, the Midwest Breakfast company just fell short of 5 stars. Why? The portions aren't as hefty as you may hope and the prices don't reflect either. It's a little expensive and the portions of the skillets were FAIR. It's a cute little cafe, don't let the shopping center scare you off. We went in on Saturday at about 11am and it was still packed from the morning. They serve breakfast and lunch and all is very, very good. Our server was extremely kind and offered very detailed recommendations and descriptions of some of their best sellers. I had the Mexican Skillet, no sour cream and it was really, really good. We also had biscuits and gravy which were fantastic and the [meat] skillet that was also very good. The coffee was nothing ordinary either; also very good. Food came out in less than 10 minutes, it was very fast and along with our breakfast, we also ordered a side of french fries to try. The french fries were incredible! As we sat, we noticed other tables ordering lunch and the paninis and sandwiches looked really good so we are most certainly going to come back to try their lunch menu. $40 for 3 people isn't too bad after tip but it's also not the cheapest in the area. The wait time once you order is ridiculous. It took 40 minutes to get our food. Our pumpkin pancakes were cold - the butter and whipped cream that comes on it didn't even melt. Didn't plan on ever coming back here, but a friend wanted to try it out for her first time and wanted me to meet her here. I had two eggs over medium, hash brown casserole and an English muffin. The hash brown casserole had only a few specks of sausage in it. My friend had a skillet breakfast and asked for ham in it. I saw her poking around in her potatoes (they're cubed potatoes, not hash browns) with her fork and asked what was the matter. She said, "I'm trying to find the ham!" Just like with my hash brown casserole, there was barely any meat to be found. She only had a few TINY pieces of ham in her skillet breakfast. Her potatoes looked burned and dry. And speaking of skillet breakfasts, that means they're served in a skillet, right? Not at this place. It's just potatoes on a plate with eggs on top. That is NOT a skillet breakfast. We were seated at a table for two that was so small, there wasn't even room to put my wristlet on the table. We felt like we were eating with the people at the table next to us. My friend said, "I didn't realize this place was so small." Service was terrible. We were waited on quickly and our order was served in a decent amount of time, but after that - literally nothing. No one ever checked on us and no one came around to refill my coffee. I did flag down a girl carrying a coffee pot at one point to refill my coffee, but that was the only refill I ever got. We were never told the specials - not even that they had any. It wasn't until after we placed our order and we were looking around at the decor, that we saw a chalkboard up on the wall with the specials written on them. Guess things haven't changed in the past 3 years that I've been here, which is a shame. I think they only reason they stay in business and that they were busy is because it's the only breakfast restaurant in that area. read more
