    Dirty Shirley
    Courtney T.

Strong drinks, fun vibes, great food. Definitely try the cucumber onion side. It's like a quick pickle essentially, it tastes so fresh and amazing. They also sell it by the jar! I ordered a dirty Shirley with gin, the dinghy burger with fries on the side. We also ordered the fried green beans for the table. The green beans were okay, I wish we would have tried a different starter like the cauliflower. I had two drinks and they were strong (in a good way). The food took a while but honestly the vibes were high so I didn't really notice much or mind. The Dinghy came with 2 patties, grilled onions, and mac and cheese bites. Couldn't really taste the Mac and cheese bites but over all the burger was really good. Fries were nice and crispy. It's a huge meal. Overall and great experience and will visit again in the future. Our server was also attentive and fun.

Gear place to pull up your boat and grab a drink as you make your way around the chain. We only had beers but nice service

Nothing beats early summer nights @ Dinghy's. It's off the chain, literally and figuratively!

I went to Dinghy's for the first time last night with my boyfriend and my best friend met up with us. We all had a great time at Karaoke under the stars. I definitely had wayyyy too much fun if you know what I mean. The staff, service, and atmosphere was awesome. Drinks and food were great! If you're in the area stop by for a great time!

No frills place overlooking Fox Lake. Good variety in a standard American fare menu. Excellent service and views.

Food is very good, you won't leave hungry. The manager gave us some cake samples to try. Put them on the menu! They were great.

Every single time I have come here I feel like I am attending a Fraternity Party. It always has great music and a party vibe. I feel the drinks are extremely overpriced. Once you have docked your boat, and arrived. You walk down the pier to the entrance. There is a man standing at the bar entrance. He will check everyone entering to make sure that nothing is brought into the bar. No vapes or beverages are allowed in. Women have to open up their purses and then are allowed in. The only entry to Blarney's Island is by boat or a boat shuttle. The shuttle costs $15 per person, children 12 & under are free if accompanied by an adult. I think this is expensive to be able to attend this bar. So $15 to get there and then an expensive beverage. I didn't realize they served food there. I saw a sign for peanuts and popcorn. I saw a menu on a table but was never offered one. I obtained a drink from the bar and then sat down at a high top table on a stool. Yesterday they had a good band. We were there for about 1 hour. This would be a nice place to take someone from out of town, but prepare to spend some $$$$.

No cliques here. The owner greeted me immediately with a hug. It was about 7Pm and this place was packed. The bartender immediately asked what I wanted to drink and within a minute a tall glass was sitting in front of me. The chefs were working so hard fixing nonstop orders of fish, fries, burgers, and tater tots for the most part. They were moving like a conveyor belt with the orders. From the time I arrived, until I left, not one order was messed up. All the staff are pretty friendly and just awesome overall. Don't expect long conversations if you're looking for liquor paid psychiatrist work while Friday fish orders are being filled. I had the baked cod (was always my favorite) and the first time the walleye with the broccoli crunch and tater tots. Walleye reminds me of catfish. Omg, everything was a 100 out of a 10 to be honest. Coming out of a dive tavern, yes. Everything had the right crunch or the perfect flakiness. Loved it. Friday Fishfry is the bomb here in my opinion. Almost no one there, presumably because of the early hour. Have walked by at night and usually pretty busy on weekends at least. That said it was Sunday at 4:30. Ambiance was nice. We sat outside on their patio by the fans and temps were a relief after the dire temps in previous days. Food: wish I'd taken a picture before we ate some. It was presented nicely. We had the Asian chicken wraps. It came with four almost, kinda sorta, wilted romaine leaves that were hard to wrap around anything, so that was interesting. I woulda preferred a larger colder iceberg lettuce. Room temperature white rice in the middle of small cube chicken, also room temp? with a teriyaki like sauce on it. On the side and in small containers, it had pickled onions and cucumbers, which were wonderful. Some sort of sweet /hot sauce I'm guessing and radishes with crispy wonton strips. I liked it all ok taste wise, but thought the rice and chicken could have been warm to hot. We also had each a flavored lime mule which was very good for $10 each. Not a lot of alcohol but tasty. Had cold things been cold and hot things been at least warm, it would have been much better. My friend wasn't too hungry or impressed so I took most of it home and warned it up and that is what you see in the picture. It was way more appealing and I just ditched the sorta wilty romaine. The menu doesn't know what it wants to be. It's mostly bar food, some Asian influences and some Greek, thrown in with 3-4salads. I almost like it better when they first opened with a very limited and kinda pricy small bites menu, but I suppose in McHenry you gotta have basic bar food, so I get it. I just wish there were an upscale pub type menu for something different. But that's just me.
