Our family came to Dockers for dinner one evening as we were staying nearby for the weekend. We weren't sure about it based on other reviews, but the view was unbeatable so we gave it a try. We noticed upon entry that the place had definitely not been touched since it was built, dingy and dark inside, wood splintering and buckling outside but sometimes you can't judge a book by its cover. Unfortunately we wish we listened to the reviews... To start, the house margarita was delicious. They were out of some of the tap beers and we finally landed on something they did have, and it was served pretty cold. Seems like a great place for drinks for sure. Food was a different story... is it my fault for ordering a hot turkey sandwich from a place I should have gotten something like wings or a fish fry from? Yes. But my goodness I have never not been able to eat at least most of a plate I didn't like. The mashed potatoes tasted like powder from a box with no flavor, the gravy was pure salt, and the turkey tasted like it was from last thanksgiving and just defrosted. The cranberry sauce was nice though. Husband ordered a fish fry and had no complaints except for the cole slaw, which was practically just mayo. The kid wouldn't even touch his mac n cheese, and I can't really blame him. I didn't think it was possible for mac n cheese to somehow be drenched in cheese sauce but simultaneously have literally 0 flavor. Also, prices were very, very high for what was served. Food and drinks showed up pretty quick and our servers were really accommodating/attentive. Would I come back for food? Definitely not. But, should I find myself in the area again, I would certainly come back for a patio drink or two, as this seems to be the move anyway. read more

Food was good. Oyster Rockefeller is the MUST to try. I wish they have more selection of menu. Apparently last night was a different menu of the day, bec. of the fireworks. Service could be better. We had Mariel last night. N our service was poor. I don't think she can handle happy hour. NO engagement or check on us. The place is spectacular most especially in the evening time. Great place if you are looking for a relaxing evening watching the sunset over the lake. We stopped for a drink and a snack and were seated promptly on the deck with a kitschy tropical vibe. Our server was super sweet. The MaiTai was a great cocktail to accompany the sunset. The Friday night fish fry looked like the best bet but we weren't that hungry. Nachos come with many accompaniments. The menu has much to offer so we will return when in the Fox Lake area. read more

Located on scenic Fox Lake,this restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining offering burgers,sandwiches,pizza,salads and more. They have a fantastic lakeside deck to enjoy the boats or sunset while sipping on one of their famous margaritas or Mai Tai. We went on a Friday night after 8pm so we had no trouble getting seated. We just went for a cocktail and nachos..both were good. They do offer a Friday Fish Fry which I want to try next time . Service was very good and prices reasonable. Plenty of parking is available. Stop. Warning. Go elsewhere, We will never, ever go back. Used to enjoy this place in the day. Now, Food was grossly unsatisfying. Service was less than abysmal. Prime Rib special was anything but special, it was especially bad and bland. Broasted Chicken tasted old and like it was cooked along with week-old fish. My plate was dirty. Asked 3 times for extra plates, finally had to go inside to get them myself. Hostess started to sit us along the water, then went, wait, then turned around and sat us in back although there were more than a dozen open tables everywhere else. Waiter/waitress section balancing I guess. Talk about setting expectations missing them by a mile. Docker's view of course is great, but there are several other better options with views, much better food and better service. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

Wow!!! Our Server Mia was a Great Server. She brought wonderful customer service. She is incredibly kind and thoughtful. She refilled our coffee for our party of 9 So many times. She went out of her way to do something that was so nice. She made our experience at Dockers the best experience we have ever had because finding good customer service these days is incredibly rare. Who pays $20 for onion rings? Nothing on the menu is reasonably priced. Limited menu. Go somewhere else. Food is average at best. Fish tacos are messy and had me on the toilet all night. read more

This place never disappoints. However, if you do ask for a cocktail, make sure you ask for the alcohol you want. Had to have them make my cocktail twice, but the food the food is just amazing. We arrived a little later than the rest of our large group, half of whom were seated inside and the other half out on the deck. It was a beautiful, warm October day, so after we started to sit down inside then saw the rest of the group out on the deck, we decided right away to head outside, and it was definitely the right decision! Our outside group of about 12, who'd gathered for an early dinner after an afternoon performance, were set up at several tables strung together into one long one, at the end of the deck closest to the restaurant. It was perfect. I had the appetizer combo basket, which was plenty for me for three meals (so I took 2/3 home), and it was his birthday, so my husband was extremely happy with their largest cut of prime rib. Our servers did an excellent job with our large group, even agreeing to split our check up, as most of the guys were paying individually. The waterfront view at sunset was an added bonus that made the gathering of friends even more perfect. I'd love to go back again and sit right by the water, which is always my favorite place to dine on a nice day. First, the patio seating was great near the lake, with plenty of room and a second deck. We were seated right away with a great view of the water. Our server did a great job of checking up on us and was friendly. My fish tacos were very good. The only thing keeping this from being a five star is the prices are slightly high, but I always expect this when eating near lakes. read more

Dockers is my new favorite place! We went twice on our quick weekend trip to Fox Lake and I highly recommend! We stopped by Friday afternoon for a couple of cocktails and to enjoy their beautiful views of the water. The bloody was tasty and I also got a frozen margarita that hit the spot on a hot day. My boyfriend got a beer which was nice and cold but just be aware they'll come out in a plastic cup (if you have an issue with that). We clearly had an adult palate that day so we sampled their fries and mozzarella sticks which were very yummy. The service was excellent on a busy Friday afternoon. We went back Saturday for an early lunch and most everyone got burgers and everyone agreed they were absolutely delicious. I did a Caesar salad which was tasty and the portion was huge. I really want to like this place but everytime I have been here it's been awful service and subpar food. $11 for a kids meal that doesn't include a drink so an extra $3. Ordered stuffed tomato with tuna salad this last visit.... Received chicken salad on top of two slices of tomato. Couldn't find my sever for 15mins to let her know. When asked what flavor of margaritas were available we were told it's on the back of the menu. Had to hunt down my sever to ask for the check and pay. Decided to stop here on a whim to enjoy a beautiful view with a great view. Service was great. We were seated quickly even though it did seem like there some arguments going on with staff at the front of the restaurant, which made us uncomfortable. However, our waitress was phenomenal. Fast, very friendly and great on drink refills if needed. We went with a Bacon & Cheese Chicken Sandwich and the Docker's Style Marinated Chicken. Hubby upgraded the fries to sweet potato fries, which ended up being mushy. Chicken was a nice sandwich, decent portion with moist chicken. My entree was pieces of chicken with a greek salad and regular fries. Chicken was moist and decent pieces, salad was full of fresh veggies (peppers, lots of feta, cucs) with a nice greek dressing that wasn't oily at all. Fries had a crispy, seasoned crust and mine were not mushy at all. Pop tasted perfectly calibrated with a nice level of sweetness. We enjoyed our meal, the service and the view and would go back again. read more

Dockers is probably my favorite place to go for -food- on the Chain. A lot of the waterfront options offer a menu of typical bar food that will do for a quick bite. On the other hand, Dockers is a great place to sit down and have something good. They have a menu with enough options to satisfy everyone and everything is extremely delicious. They usually have a salad bar where you can build a salad and get a cup of soup to begin your meal. However, in current coronavirus pandemic times, they're unable to offer the salad bar. Previously, I've had their fish tacos, burgers, chicken sandwiches, and fried shrimp. You can't go wrong with any of them. On our visit this weekend, I had the Friday night fish fry, and the people I was with ordered a full slab of ribs and the 1/4 broasted chicken. Personally, I would have liked the fish breading to have more salt, but it was still good. I managed to snag a piece of the broasted chicken and all I have to say is wow. It was that good. My boyfriend who had the full slab said it was the best ribs he's had in a while. I highly recommend sitting on their patio, especially at sunset. You can't beat the atmosphere and view. read more

My friend ordered the perch basket and ended up tearing off the breading because it was entirely too thick and had very little fish inside. Bring lots of cash, wads of it for the next time you come here unless you're prepared to pay the hefty surcharge hidden under your bill. read more

Food was pretty good. I had a Mushroom Swiss burger. It didn't have a lot of flavor. Kids enjoyed the breakfast buffet. (It was a Sunday) We are on the outside deck which is right on the lake. Originally they were booked for outside seating and towards the end of the night the owner Mario made room for us to see the fireworks outside right on the edge of the lake ! Very outstanding personality ! He even offered us a drink on the house!! Loved it. We arrived after a 6 mile hike we took at Volo Bog. (Took we took a wrong turn and made it even longer hike than planned. The tasty margaritas took care of any tight muscles - very medicinal. It was out.first time there. We had a lovely server named Macy who made our visit even better. The summer salad I had was fresh and excellent. My friend loved the Greek salad. We both loved the bread. Well, go back if ever in the area. By the way, on the way out, because we weren't quite ready for what was on the dessert menu we stopped at.The Coffee Shop, a few hundred feet from Dockers. Dockers has become a Landmark and a part of Fox Lake right off of Rt 12 and Grand Ave down town Fox Lake just a block west of the Light. Where else can you go for lunch and sit on a beautiful outdoor shaded deck and if your lucky watch a Cessana 172 or 2 land and come In and dock there aircraft for lunch and then fly off into the afternoon sunset. It's everything about it, not just the Great food and selection but the whole package. Docker's was a great place for a private party! From the start, the owner was very accommodating and helpful. We had a group of about 30 people and were given the entire up stairs for a lunch time party. The view of the lake was super & really liked the white tablecloths. We pre-picked 5 menu items for guests to order from. Everything was great. We had trio appetizers, Ruben, burgers, Club sandwich & Greek Marinated chicken pita & Cesar salad. They were all delicious. They allowed us to bring our own desserts for a dessert table which was nice. I was worried when we were only provided one server, but she was amazing and had everything under control. This is the second time we tried to go here. After waiting 15 minutes for a waitress, we finally left. We went to the front and told Mario that there wasn't a waitress to help us. He didn't care, all he said was, "unbelievable." After this happening for the second time we told him we wouldn't be coming back, and he didn't care. My visit here was met with very mixed reviews. I waited quite some time to be seated, with servers walking past me, averting their eyes, so they did not have to address me. After 5 to 10 minutes, the bartender came and sat me. The view in the outdoor seating area is very calming and beautiful. I think they were very short staffed, because everyone seemed in quite the tizzy. I went on a Tuesday night within the last couple of weeks. I had a burger, which was very delicious! The fries also were very good. The service was very questionable. That's the biggest drawback for me. Will I go again? I think so, I think I may give it one more shot. read more
