It was when we attempted to go in that we noticed that they did not open for 15 minutes. Thus the empty parking lot. What happened over the next 15 minutes was something we have never experienced before. Cars began pulling in 2 and 3 at a time. People were walking up in groups to stand and wait for them to open. Keep in mind this was December and it was pretty cold outside. The closer we got to the time they opened, the more people that arrived. It kind of felt like black Friday shopping. People kept lining up and before you knew it, the parking lot was almost full. Wow. All for good reason as we got inside. Tenutas' is a one stop shop. They have pre-made foods, frozen foods, deli hot food, alcohol, of course some cheese, you name it. We picked up some Italian sausage, some frozen ravioli with their homemade sauce and a pack of their Italian beef. We really enjoyed the ravioli and the homemade sauce was delicious. Being a Chicago guy, the Italian beef was good, just not Chicago quality. The mild Italian sausage was very good and we look forward to enjoying the additional links that we have left. Very popular place that we would definitely visit again when we are back in the area.

We ordered an Italian sandwich and Philly cheesesteak (tuesdays only), with fries and drinks. This was the best Italian sub sandwich I've had in the area. The meats were generous and it tasted so fresh. The cheesesteak was also fresh and delicious, the taste of the steak being a huge standout. Both sandwiches had amazing bread, and the fries were delicious. The price was a little steep at almost $50 for two sandwiches, one bag of chips, one soda, and an order of fries. But for me, the quality was worth the price for a once in a while treat. Our only complaint was the ketchup came in packets, and they either were old or not under proper temp control. The texture was off, and the packets were inflated... making it seem like they went bad. We will be coming back for sure.

It didn't give me much confidence that the inside of the machine has been cleaned lately, I will definitely be back to try other menu options (because there are a ton of fantastic choices) and hope the cleanliness is considered another day.

I ordered the Fox with a Twist for $10.49. I got a garlic bagel, I would try something different, probably everything or salt. I also kept the plain cream cheese and I would sub that next time. I really liked the turkey, there was a lot of it on the bagel. $10.50 is a lot for a bagel sized sandwich, but there was a lot of turkey. I enjoyed the bacon and pickled jalapeños. I could not taste the tomato but was glad it was there, but I was disappointed with the caramelized onions. There were not many, and they had almost no flavor. The sandwich also needed salt, something to draw out the flavor. I also got a French toast bagel for my son. It was served warm. That was $2.49. I heard about this deli because it was used for a catering event I went to. The bagels are delicious!!! The best around. The bagel hole idea is also clever, great snack for a catering tray. I would grab a bagel if I was in the area, but not sure I'll repeat the sandwich at that price point without a bit more punch of flavor.
