Forgot to get a photo of it, but the chicken omelet is delicious, and I do enjoy their coffee. The folks we've had for service both times I've gone have been friendly, helpful, and attentive. The decor is rustic but it's neat there's a section where local artists can sell their wares. I love being able to browse local goods and support people in the community. There's plenty of parking on the side of the buildings, and some on the street in front of the cafe. We haven't had to wait for a table yet, but the food is good enough that I'd wait if I had to. Well, I wanted to give it more stars but just can't because overall it's just a three. I've been here twice for breakfast. .Everything was ok the first time there was a small mistake or dislike of something but no big deal as I recall; so I thought I'd go back for breakfast 2. I got the Denver omelet with Swiss, ham, green peppers and onions and it came with hash browns included. No toast but that's fine with me. The omelet was a tad overcooked to my liking but had lots of ingredients with the emphasis on big pieces of green pepper and lots of onions. Ham was in there but kinda lost in the peppers and onions. and not too flavorful to start with. But ok. So the hash browns I know I'm picky about, and I know no one really does them the way I like them (except good steak houses, they know what they're doing.). But.... these I thought were going to be good. Kinda crispy all over, maybe even a bit too much. I tasted them first and right away. They had an odd flavor(old?reheated or the oil just not good?) and horror of horrors, cold and hard. Who serves cold hash browns? I usually ignore sides with servers if I don't like them may mention it on Yelp for those that want to know,but could not ignore hash browns I cannot eat. I told the waitress., and she commented "interesting", which I thought was "interesting". :D She offered to have them remade, and I told her the omelet was nice and hot. I ate it happily enough. So the second try on the has browns. they come out, and they are steaming hot, but noticeably barely cooked or maybe even not barely. I took the second plate home and got a to go so I could cook them at home. So all in all ok with the food, but that should not have been. First cold then not cooked. They other things I noticed both times is the chairs or the majority of them are tiny metal cheap, not so comfortable chairs and the sound really carries probably due to the high ceilings. Not a big deal but it doesn't invite you to linger, but that's maybe ok. The tables are not too far apart either so if it is busy you definitely get to hear what's going on all around you like it or not. See photos for hash brown attempts that definitely fail, but the rest was ok. I add service was good both times and the waitress today did take $1.30 off for the has brown send back. Oh wow, my first experience here was so good I made a special trip a few days later to try more items and be equally impressed again! The name and restaurant itself don't really jump out, as it in general looks like a fairly standard cafe that you'd find anywhere. However the food here is really the star and I'll go more into it shortly. Parking here can be a bit tricky when it's busy around the area, but there's a good amount of public parking fairly close by. Service is very friendly and prompt, even when busy. They are quite good at fulfilling orders at a good pace even when busy, which is quite impressive given the size and staffing levels. The decor is quite fun, very much a nod to the local area and unique flavor and vendors that are available. I like this as it helps me remember this restaurant as something that uniquely represents Richmond. The drinks I tried here were all done quite well. I found the coffee to be smooth and not too acidic. Hot chocolate was very flavorful and just rich enough, definitely tastes like it's from melted chocolate rather than from a powder. Mocha was smooth, not super strong and had a good extra layer of complexity from the colombian chocolate. The food was definitely the star here. The chocolate waffle was quite unique here as it had chocolate in the batter with chocolate chips and chocolate syrup on top. This was interestingly not overly sweet and quite delicious. The richmond stack was quite spongy with a nice flavor to the batter. I do like how fresh the whipped cream tasted and how the berries were also the perfect ripeness. The pancakes also soaked in the syrup quite well and had a firmness that made them fairly easy to cut. The french toast was another standout dish, with just a light bit of egg flavor and a food fluffiness. The quality of the berries and whipped cream once against shone here and created a balanced bite. The parfait was similarly prepared well and quite delicious. The meat lover's skillet here was packed with meat and the egg was nice and fluffy. It had a good distribution of meat inside and each bite was flavorful without being overly salty. Overall, this is worth a stop on my way up to Lake Geneva or Lake Delavan for a delicious meal. The prices are quite reasonable for quality and service is friendly and reasonably fast. read more

Ambiance: A nice, homey, warm vibe. Simple and charming, with a good amount of plants to add vibrance to the cafe. We came on a sunny day and it was nice to sit close to the window seats. Food: Really good! I ordered the chicken bacon pesto panini, and it was delicious. Easily an 8.5/10. Had a really good salsa that came with it that added some great flavor. The chicken was juicy and the bacon wasn't over cooked. The panini was not falling apart from being to full or getting soggy from the ingredients. One of the better paninis I've had. My wife had a veggie skillet. She said it was also delicious. She noted that there was a good amount of veggies and they were all cooked well. She said it was filling and easy on her stomach. The hash browns were cooked perfectly and seasoned well! The food was definitely worth the trip. Service: Our server, Rachael, was very kind and helpful. The cafe wasn't at full capacity, but it wasn't empty, and our service was quick and right to order. Our server checked on us when we needed something and was very responsive. Richmond Cafe was a great find. I've driven through Richmond on my way to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin many times. This cute cafe has very friendly staff and fantastic food. I ordered the chocolate waffle. There was chocolate in the batter and chocolate drizzle on top. It comes with fresh strawberries and blueberries. It was amazing. I also ordered the single source hot chocolate. It tasted like a melted chocolate bar. They also sell art made by local artists. I can't wait to come back and try more food and drinks. I can't recommend Richmond Cafe any higher! read more

Cute little breakfast place near downtown Richmond - city you MUST go through to go north to Wisconsin when coming from McHenry area. Situated in an old shop and had an ice cream bar that's fun in summer. Has the nicest and most polite waitstaff for miles around - rivaling even the Brunch Cafe in Mchenry. Has a coffee bar inside and can make a variety of drinks - when you get regular coffee it's in a very large cup but they are always glad to top you off anytime. Food is a bit lain but overall good. They are still struggling -after many attempts- to make hash browns that aren't a pile of wet glop - even when ordered crispy - someone needs to tell the preparer to squeeze drain the potatoes after chopping them up before cooking! Toast is always extra but available. Best side dish is the chia pudding with fruit- almost makes up for the hash browns! Overall a good place for breakfast or early lunch. read more

Great coffee and food. They serve Hansa coffee and it is great. I also had breakfast here. I got a breakfast burrito. Since I am celiac I asked about gluten free and they accommodated me. What does that mean? It means I got the burrito without the flour wrap and without the hash browns and the sauce they add because they all had gluten. Instead, I got a parfait on the side and it was great. It is a cute place inside and has a lot of ambiance. The service is great too. So, when you pass through this town going to Geneva or wherever, it is not a bad stop at all. They must have had a wedding or something going on upstairs. We went yesterday around 1pm for a brunch, usually an overall good experience but our waiter just took our plates without asking if we were finished... my mother still had part of her waffle left.. This wasn't our usual waiter so I get that but management please work on waiter etiquette.. (ASK BEFORE YOU TAKE) We're not assholes so we let it slide but please advise, I don't want the waiter bashed for doing this to the wrong person. Great place. I've been here twice on work trips to Richmond, and I enjoyed it every time. The cold brew is good, as well as the hibiscus iced tea. I got the seasonal maple latte last time, and it was excellent -- nice maple taste but not too sweet. The last time I also got the chorizo omelet with hash browns and hot sauce. I asked to remove the cheese, as I'm lactose challenged, but even without the cheese it was delicious. Portion was good, and the service was excellent. Richmond cafe is a city quality cafe/coffee shop with the kindness and service of a small town establishment. We went there this morning for breakfast and had a lovely experience. The building itself is gorgeous with beautifully placed plants, hand painted murals, and a mix of antique and raw wood everywhere. You feel transported to a cozy artist loft. First off the coffee served here is from Hansa, a local coffee roaster, and they make a special blend just for richmond cafe, it's freaking delicious. Not only did we order two of their largest coffees but also got one to go. Secondly their food was all on point. The parfaits that came with our sandwich and burrito had what tasted like homemade granola, sprinkled cinnamon, fresh berries and a touch of honey. Delightful. It's the little touches that made it above and beyond. Thirdly the service makes you feel cared for and at ease. Everything from our waitress who took our order and made sure to check in on us. To the owners who made appearances to see how we were doing made us feel comfortable and appreciated. We had breakfast here Sunday morning. Delightful! First, the building is very quaint. Early twentieth century. The large windows allow for plenty of sunlight and the tables are set apart. (Covid friendly). Second, the coffee (Mansa) is absolutely delicious. I had two at the table and one too go. The reason for four stars instead of five is the menu. Extremely limited. I would love to see more options for breakfast. However, the food was VERY GOOD!! They serve a terrific granola topped yogurt with every selection. The wait staff is very courteous and attentive and you can't beat the prices. Huge Breakfast Burrito and Denver Omelette with the yogurt and coffees, less than $30. Absolutely amazing place. I don't typically leave reviews, but I had to for this cafe. I ordered a tuna croissant with vegetables and hummas. Croissant was flakey as it should be. Sandwich was made with quality tuna. The vegetables and hummas hit the spot. I wish I would have taken a picture. My mom ordered the California chicken panini again absolutely fantastic. What a surprise gem we found this morning! On our way home from a road trip and a detour to check out Genoa City Wisconsin (long time Young and Restless fan here) we were driving home and passed this place as our stomachs were growling. Stopped in and boy,, not disappointed by any means I ordered a ham and cheese omelet and a macciatto, my hubby ordered a breakfast sandwich with sausage and a cappuccino.
