We were staying at nearby Lake lawn Lodge. Asked at the Front Desk for a recommendation. Without hesitation, they said Elizabeth's Café. They were spot on! There were eight of us. Called ahead to see if they would have a table. We walked in and our table was waiting for us. They serve breakfast and lunch. There's a huge menu! Some of us tried the daily soup which was navy bean and chicken noodle. Both tasted homemade and were delicious. Some had omelettes, biscuits and gravy, chicken, and waffles, & burgers. Service was excellent. It's a cozy neighborhood spot. Prices were extremely reasonable. In fact, all of us ate extremely well and brought home leftovers. Amazingly the cost was only a little more than a chain sandwich shop where we had ordered eight sandwiches the night before. And we didn't even get chips just sandwiches. Yeah, I saw the many positive reviews. When I'm on the road, I seek the kinds of places that locals flock to. I didn't plan on writing a negative review, but I must be honest. I dined here on a weekday with a group of friends. For openers, too much seating is crammed into this tiny place. I'm not claustrophobic, but I sure felt squeezed. Most menu items here cost under $10, with just a single item exceeding $12. If this seems remarkably inexpensive compared to prices of diner chow elsewhere, adjust your expectations accordingly. Those who ordered the most basic egg and pancake dishes seemed satisfied. Ditto burgers. The coffee was good. Everything else? Read on ... I and a companion ordered turkey club sandwiches. Served with a bowl of soup and fries (we substituted fresh fruit), the price was a mere $9. The chicken noodle soup, which packed a beyond-salty wince-inducing wallop, was actually the best part of the meal. Then our club sandwiches arrived. While they looked pretty on the plate, they were wholly inedible: Soggy toast, undercooked bacon, overripe tomatoes, and imitation turkey-ish lunchmeat loaf. Beyond disgusting. The fruit was edible except for the watermelon. Rejecting the sandwiches uneaten, my companion ordered a burger and I dug into an app sampler. I found the onion rings to be excessively greasy and the mozzarella sticks contained more crust than filling. Only the chicken tenders were edible. Other lunch items were similarly problematic. Our friends described their eggs Benedict and a chicken salad sandwich as "the absolute worst." This looked like a good place to stop for breakfast on my way to IL so I stopped by on a Sunday morning at 7:15 and the place was 80% full so I chose the right place. I like how it was decorated with woods and stone accents. They have a mix of breakfast counter, tables and booths and I chose a booth. The menu is typical WI breakfast so it's not a Greek phone book but something for everyone. Lots of good stuff but I'm a sucker for country fried steak even if next to no one serves a home made one anymore so frozen will be ok. My food arrive at an appropriate time frame for how busy they were and the sizzling grill sound never stopped while I was there. My country fried steak breakfast looked good and a nice way to start my day even though rainy IL weather canceled my out door plans. The country fried steak was cooked to golden perfection and topped with can country gravy which was mild. My hash browns with fried onions were delicious. My sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly. My sourdough toast was weird because it was super crunchy and lacked the chew of sourdough toast, I didn't understand what happened there. Overall it's a nice breakfast place and if you get there too late you might have to wait for a table on the weekends. read more

My 2x2x2 was excellent with 2 pancakes, 1 piece of bacon, one piece of sausage (instead of 2 of the same) and scrambled eggs were all excellent and same with the very kind and attentive waitress. The prices are very reasonable but the ambiance is average for a breakfast place and it was very snug with tables. I will definitely be back when I return. I give this place 4.5 stars. read more

I will keep this short and as sweet as possible, we love Elizabeth's and it's been our go to for breakfast during our weekends at the lake. But this experience soured my love for Elizabeth's and the party of 5 that were there this Sunday will most likely not be returning. Everything went smoothly, as usual until our server Stephanie G. came to drop off our food. When our pancake got stuck to the bottom of a plate since she wasn't using a tray and stacked the plates. She set the pancake sandwiched plate down on the table (meaning the pancake was basically a place mat) when or friend lifted the plate grabbed the pancake and handed it to Stephanie. She quickly apologized and said she would get a new one. To which she then went to the kitchen and came back within seconds with a "new" pancake. But guess what? We flipped it over and same plate indent in the cake! Not only was it just gross but honestly just lazy and disrespectful. I'm a server I get it line cooks can be sassy when you mess up. But I would never serve a guest food that was touched by a usually half assed wiped table and multiple dirty hands. This makes me sad, and I hope this doesn't happen in the future. The food was quite decent. I don't mean that to sound dismissive. Most restaurant food is abysmal and this place, especially for the price, is a good value with decent food. It's not GREAT but it's good. The service was good as well. We got refills of water in a timely manner, we weren't bothered excessively, they cleared plates quickly, etc. So why the 1 star rating? Well, when I went there I was with my girlfriend and we're an affectionate couple. We don't get gratuitous in public but we hold hands, canoodle, kiss, etc. We were in a booth near the back of the restaurant, and I do mean *the back*. We had our lips locked in a kiss and very rudely a guy from the kitchen area with a central/Eastern European accent says something rudely about "...is a family restaurant" and then proceeds to hover around us while we sit there. If they had a problem with us kissing, cool no problem, you can have our server come by and politely say "hey guys, we're glad you two like each other but this is making the staff uncomfortable and we don't want our patrons to worry about shielding their children from displays like this" or whatever they think is appropriate. What isn't ok is some jackass who hasn't spoken to us yelling across the aisle in a condescending manner and then watching us like a hawk until we leave. My sister was in town recently, and we came upon this cute cafe in Delevan. Walking in, we immediately felt welcomed by staff and patrons alike. We were sat at a comfortable booth and we're greeted right way by our smiling server, Stephanie. My sister ordered Mexican skillet and I the Eggs Benedict.
