What a light, airy and refreshing coffee shop. It is peaceful and chic. The decor immediately makes you feel like you have stepped into a story book coffee shop straight out of a novel. I really liked the unique modern decor, friendly service, coffee and food (see pictures)! The Art Class area was another very unique and quality aspect to the building (see attached video). The coffee was delivered in a timely manner and was great...this is a great place to stop and relax with your morning caffeine fix. The food delivery (slow, at the counter with a confusing tag identifying whose it was and the order wasn't complete) was the reason for the 2* rating in Service. They really need to get this figured out if they want to be successful, as there was a waiting line of clearly frustrated customers trying to figure out which was theirs, when the order might be coming, etc. If you don't want to deal with that frustration, just stick with the coffee and pastries in the display case. For our lunch, my wife ordered the Mediterranean Salad with Chicken (see picture) and I went with the Cilantro Lime Mango Salad (see picture). Both of these tasted fantastic - I really liked the Cilantro Lime Mango Salad and the warm tortilla on the side was a great complement! Our friend ordered the Turkey Club (see picture) and really liked it also. His came out much earlier than the rest of the order without a person's name on the slip...so we believe he picked up someone else's sandwich as another was delivered later and sat on the counter unclaimed for quite some time. This is a top-notch place for coffee and the food options are unique and delicious. Be forewarned though that the counter food delivery is slow, confusing and frustrating. We're visiting from Southern California staying at the lake and this is hands down one of the best shops. We have been on the hunt for a good matcha latte since we landed in Chicago and this was it. If you're in the area or visiting, Boxes and Burlap is a must stop for a 10/10 matcha latte and I recommend the chocolate chip cookie. Love love love! Went to both of the two locations and they have similar vibes but each with its own charm. The indoor aesthetic was super cute. The Flagship location doesn't have food (just pastry items), but has a nice outdoor patio with string lights. The Downtown Delavan location had tons of indoor space and offers food too. Coffee was good, and the croissant breakfast sandwiches were too. Only bummer is they only serve breakfast until 10:30 am, which is typically what I want when I go to a coffee shop. I tried the lavender and chai lattes, both were yum! Would be a good WFH spot if you lived in the area. read more

Hi I'd like to move in here, thanks! This adorable coffeehouse is my kind of place. My husband and I were headed to Lake Geneva for the day, and he knew he had to bring me here on the way. He was right, I loved it. Very quaint, adorably decorated, and has all the cafe drink options a gal could need. I don't generally get any kind of flavored coffee drinks, but for some reason I was just drawn to the lavender latte. It was certainly delicious. Nice and creamy, not too sweet. We sat on their wonderful outdoor patio area and nibbled on one of their cinnamon muffins. Everything about the space is laid back and very inviting. If I lived near by, I'd certainly return to cozy up with a book or join an outdoor yoga class like the one that was finishing up there upon our arrival. From what I gather, this place is also an events venue. The barn space has a nice balance of a rustic and modern look, there is a vast green space, and an additional small building that looks charming. I wonder if I could get away with having another wedding just for the sake of hosting it here :) read more

I did have a complaint about their e-gift card policy, but the business owner did apologize and put the shipping fee I had to pay to have my e-gift card changed to a physical gift card on my gift card balance. I do still hope Boxed and Burlap updates their e-gift card policy so that e-gift cards can be redeemed in-store, or at the very least, allow employees to transfer balances to a physical card at no extra charge. (Original review) I love Boxed and Burlap and frequent the coffee shop regularly, but I'm extremely disappointed with their gift card policy. If you purchase an e-gift card, it can only be used for online purchases- not in-store. When I tried to use my e-gift card (which was gifted to me) in person, the store couldn't accept it or transfer it to a physical card. Instead, I had to go online, use my e-gift card to purchase a physical card, and pay an extra $5 for shipping, just to be able to use in-store. This process in unnecessarily complicated and frustrating for customers. +5 stars for ambiance -3 stars for not having the breakfast menu available for people over 65. Extend your menu past 10:30am so people under retirement age can enjoy. I'll be honest, I didn't even order anything from here. My party went across the street to a different restaurant where they had more than four items on their lunch menu. As a local, I hope everyone coming through town knows that Boxed and Burlap is a must-stop for their itinerary! Their menu has some incredible staples, but my personal favorite are the seasonal rotations! I am currently obsessed with the lavender lemonade on a sunny afternoon, but am also here for a London fog in the winter months! The coffee shop has plenty of parking which we always love, but is also much bigger than it looks! There is a loft-style seating area up the stairs perfect for studying or quiet reading, and then couches and the greenhouse stools for catching up with friends plus a kids' nook. They JUST added gazebo structures to expand the patio, so there is PLENTY of space to spread out which made me feel comfortable here during COVID. Truly a must-try if you are in the Lake Geneva area! read more

I bought coffee beans (Ethiopia) 3 weeks ago. It was good. Then I purchased another batch of beans, the same type-Ethiopia. I made coffee from these beans and it was extremely weak with no flavor. I Increased the amount of beans to make another batch.The coffee was very sharp and acidy. I took the coffee bag back and told the girl who did the roasting the above. I told her the temperature was either to low or the RoR was not calculated correctly. She wouldn't listen to me. She tried to sell me another variety and would not make a trade or refund the money. I left the remaining bag and walked out telling her I would not be buying coffee beans anymore. If you love good coffee then don't buy from this store. The service is unbelievable! read more

I love coming here to work on my art, it's nice and cozy and quiet. I love the white mocha; however, I had one time where the coffee was a little burnt tasting and bitter. I will still continue to come here though, as the coffee generally is tasty, and there are even a variety of healthy drinks to choose from their cooler. read more

This is a gem! It's my favorite coffee place ever. And that definitely says something since I'm from Chicago. My favorite and go to is the Lavender latte. So yummy and refreshing! Especially before a day on the lake. You really can't go wrong with their coffee. The atmosphere is really light and airy and would be perfect for relaxing and getting some work done. I also love that they have my favorite brand, MZ, sold there. They have the cutest bags made by women in Mexico and it makes me happy that they are supporting fair trade companies! read more

We were at Boxed and Burlap for a wedding and reception. The facilities were great, and the little coffee shop was a nice touch (and the coffee was awesome!). Most of the "five stars" of this review though are for the staff. We had a medical emergency during the wedding. Absolutely everybody was helpful and concerned without being embarrassing. The bar staff quietly gave us a little corner for the duration where we could deal with the situation. The security team repeatedly made places to get vehicles close to where they were needed - sometimes by manhandling planters in seconds. Overall the attitude of "how can we help?" made a stressful situation much easier. read more

This place is a hidden gem. Evidently they've been here 2.5 years and we've never heard of it before searching yelp! So glad we found it, because it's become one of our favorite spots. The atmosphere is amazing and more unique than any coffee shop we've seen. Great coffee and latte choices too. The coffee selection is pretty limited, however, they do feature a seasonal beverage and cold beverages from the fridge for kids. A limited selection of dense pastries are available too. This is my favorite coffee shop that I've been to EVER. If I lived by in Wisconsin I would probably come here every single day and I definitely did over Thanksgiving weekend while I was staying with my friends in Elkhorn. I've been to many many coffee shops in Michigan, North Carolina, Washington, and New Zealand, and this is definitely some of the best coffee I've ever had. Also, not to mention that they have some of the best baked goods from a bakery in Milwaukee. Add that to the cute ambiance and you've got a wonderful place to hang out with friends or work on the computer. They also sell Christmas trees and wreaths during Christmas time and the "Barn Bar" was open Thanksgiving weekend and going to be open the first weekend in December. There's an abundance of seating and they even have a cute little loft upstairs and a patio outside. I can't wait to go back and visit when I'm in Wisconsin again! read more

I drove from Madison, WI to try this coffee shop before going hiking. It was lovely inside! I wish I was able to spend time to sip my latte and eat my chocolate pastry. They also offer yoga in a nearby building. I will have to make a special trip back when I'm in the area. read more

I've seen this new place while driving by several times so my husband and I had some time this weekend and popped in for a cup of joe. What a find! The owners have done a great job creating this remodeled space. Fresh and country chic. I love the use of the greenhouse room to create a warm sunny spot to enjoy a mug. There even size appropriate use of the under stair nook for kid chairs and books. Staff was super friendly and their espresso drinks were really good. Adorable air plants in glass terrariums were for sale and just in were miniature coffee plants. More things to come as spring progresses. What a great addition to this area. Great coffee and wonderful atmosphere. I enjoyed my coffee with an okay tasting coffee cake. They do not have breakfast sandwiches for those who prefer less sweet higher protein breakfasts. During different times, this would be an amazing place to relax and meet a friend for coffee. Unfortunately, staff do not wear COVID masks to protect their customers and do not seem to appreciate the customers that are wearing them. If they dont wear masks, I question their disinfecting of sitting area after each customer. If you are not concerned about extra disinfecting and face masks, you'll be able to enjoy the amazing atmosphere worry free.
