    Marinated Chicken Plate With Fruit

Great food, but Not Sure For a Quick Lunch We were driving down 173 the other day, saw their sign and tried them out for lunch. You enter into a fairly large dining room with many tables. To the left is a large bar. There was one other couple and two groups of 6-8 seniors having lunch. We later saw that the seniors were bridge players and started playing cards after lunch. Only one server/hostess was working and she worked hard. She took our drink order, ice water for me and fresh brewed Iced Tea ($3.00) for my wife. We then took to studying the expansive menu. It is just like the menu at Dockers down in Fox Lake. You name it, they have it. We see our server refilling drinks for the other diners, bringing out some appetizers, etc. and finally taking our food order. We were in no rush and just sat and talked. Then we saw our server bringing meals out to people that were there way before we got there. Not a good sign as there was another large group still to get their meals in front of us. Our drinks got refilled and we sat some more. Our food finally arrived after an easy half hour, maybe longer. She did explain that it was only her and the cook so that's what took so long. The meals were worth the wait. My wife had the Dockers Style Marinated Chicken Plate ($15.99) with fresh fruit. A warm pita was topped with a juicy and tasty Greek seasoned chicken with a side Greek salad and several slices of fresh fruit. I had the Grecian Salad with Chicken ($15.99). Prior to bringing out our meals, our server asked if I like anchovies on my Greek salad - I sure do and she loaded me up. The salad was composed of plenty of the usual Greek salad ingredients and a very tasty dressing. This could easily be shared. Our meals were excellent, fresh and flavorful! Everything we saw go by looked delicious and we would go back again if we were in the area, just not if we're pressed for time.

There's no reason to return. Spent $50 on carry out and the only good item was the cheeseburger. The mozzarella sticks were ok, but everything else was disgraceful. $3.99 cheesecake was a 4x3 square of jello cheesecake bar. Talk about disappointment. Everything about the pizza was off. The crust, the sauce, and the cheese. The burger was good, had that flame grilled taste similar to Burger King... the fries with the burger were a soggy mess. Like other posters have said, be skeptical of a place with too large of a menu because usually it means nothing is done well.

Just happened upon this great place on accident. Had the Sunday Brunch. THEY DO A GREAT SUNDAY BRUNCH. Lots of great food, but nothing really fancy, jut lots of good fool, including salad bar! PRICE WAS EXCELLENT FOR BRUNCH. Will definitely try to get there again soon. Not sure I really want to give a 5, but no reason not to.

The wings, again, MADE TO ORDER!! EXCEPTIONAL!!! The mozerella sticks are delicious!!!! Service, EXCEPTIONAL!!!! YOU MUST COME HERE FOLKS.

We have dined here on several occasions, and it does seem to improve with age, particularly as a neighborhood destination for drinks. In warmer months, the rooftop is a genuine asset--an inviting spot for a pre-dinner cocktail or a relaxed evening out. On our most recent visit, a cold evening, we were seated immediately, a welcome efficiency that set a positive tone. The dining room's very high ceilings, while attractive, do contribute to a chill during winter months, making the atmosphere less cozy than one might hope on such nights. Service, however, was attentive and efficient throughout the meal. The bar continues to be a strong point. A well-made martini impressed my wife and was fully consistent with our prior experiences here. The French onion soup stood out as a comforting and well-executed choice, particularly satisfying on a cold night. Entrées were solid and competently prepared, though ultimately unremarkable--good, but not memorable. Overall, this is a restaurant that delivers dependable food and service without striving for distinction. While the kitchen does not reach for the extraordinary, the drinks alone make it a worthwhile stop, especially when paired with the rooftop in summer or a well-crafted cocktail at the bar year-round.

We arrived just as the luncheon hour was in full swing; however, the waitstaff seated us after only a few minutes and we were shown to a booth in the main dining room. The atmosphere is very lively and chatty; the restaurant appeared to be quite full but there was a wonderful 'warmth' about the place and the cooking smelled terrific. Our waitress brought menus immediately and took our drink orders; she was polite, courteous, and efficient. It was very clear our waitress was very busy; HOWEVER this did not in any way diminish her service and/or her attention. SHE WAS TERRIFIC. Our orders arrived VERY quickly and were hot and fresh; I ordered a chorizo skillet and it was delicious. The rye toast was loaded with butter and they brought freshly portioned fruit jelly for us, and not those horrible pr-packaged plastic globs. The waitress kept my coffee filled and my clients' drinks filled as well; she took very good care of us and never once made us feel rushed. I thoroughly enjoyed my luncheon at The Vegas Café and will definitely plan to return, very soon! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

First, the pickup situation was ridiculous. I walked in, no one at the counter, no staff in sight--just two customers sitting at the bar eating. It's a typical local bar vibe. My order was just sitting there in a bag on the counter with zero name, ticket, or anything to identify it. I had to open the bag to even check if it was mine. No one came out the whole time I was there. Felt sketchy and unprofessional--like they just tossed it out and disappeared. I grabbed it and left without ever seeing an employee. As for the food: the Hackney's loaf (their big pile of thin onion rings) came without the ranch or maple chipotle BBQ sauces that are supposed to be included. I've been to Hackney's and it doesn't come close to the original. On top of that, the onions tasted sour and off--like they weren't fresh or the fryer oil was old. Greasy, sour, and barely edible. I threw it away. The half order chicken nachos were mediocre at best. Very little chicken, chips were good, but they absolutely drowned everything in BBQ sauce. Way too much--it overpowered everything. Just a sloppy, one-dimensional mess. I ate dinner off the chips and threw the rest of that away too. Between the abandoned pickup, missing sauces, sour-tasting onion rings, and over-sauced nachos, this was a total letdown, $32 wasted. For the prices they charge, there's no excuse for such poor execution and zero customer service at pickup. I won't be back to Station 51--there are way better options. Avoid if you value fresh food and competent service.
