Had such a great experience at Bobby's Barrel. From the moment we were seated, it was clear how focused and on top of things the staff was. The waitresses were attentive and friendly, and the bussboys kept everything clean and organized it made the whole experience run so smoothly. As for the food, I had the Bobby's Barrel Burger and it was amazing juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had in a while! Can't comment on the food because we walked out after a horrible encounter with the hostess. After being greeted with a look that could kill, she snapped at me when I explained our party of 6 included two high chairs so they would be prepared. No idea what her issue was. I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant. Congrats Bobby's. You found the one hostess that made me take my family elsewhere. Save yourself the aggravation and go someplace else. read more

I spotted the delicious looking giant smoked pork chop that several people had posted, and against my better judgment I tried this place. The giant tomahawk pork chop is not what I got. My waitress was new and did a very good job, but the other lady she was working with didn't seem to wanna be there. The pork chop is not on the dinner menu, which is odd, but they said I could order it. See the picture below this is what I got. The mashed potatoes may have been drywall spackle with gravy. The grilled veggies were a little light. And this cost me 23 bucks. Waste of time, waste of money. Ton of better options in the area. read more

I'd give Bobby's Barrel 3 stars. Let me start by saying, I absolutely do not recommend going on a Saturday or Sunday here around lunch time. It took 30 minutes just to get seating, and even then it was bar seating only, no table. It took a while to be acknowledged by the staff, but it was probably because it was so busy and they were very understaffed and this is one of a small selection of sit down restaurants in the area. When we were seated, the workers were all friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. The eggs Benedict and the omelette were both pretty good and the price was reasonable. Overall, if you're in Volo and are there a weekday, stop in and try Bobby's Barrel. If you're there on a weekend, avoid at all costs. read more

First time here and pleasantly surprised how good everything is. I'm not from the area so we just picked it out of the blue. Chopped stead with mashed potatoes and fresh grilled vegetables was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My husband's boasted chicken was tasty and the burger and fries were also good. read more

Went there this morning for Breakfast. Ordered the special Breakfast Pot Pie. Its a Pot pie made with their pizza dough. It's a chicken Pot Pie with Sausage Gravy, Bacon, and Eggs on it. I was out of this world. I just wish it was on their regular menu. I would go there just for that. Since its a special i'm not sure when they will have it again. I've been coming here several years and have always loved the food and staff. Friday's are always crazy busy with a long wait. After tonight I feel very disappointed since the past few weeks they are out of alot of beer, wine and spirits. Very disappointing. I come here quite often and they are usually out of certain wine, beer and spirits. I feel like I should bringing my own just to enjoy a good meal and good company. Not sure who's ordering the alcohol but it definitely should be stocked on a Friday at 5pm when you are a bar. If I would have known you were out of Pinot Grigio and multiple beers when we put our name on the list, we would not have stayed and would have went elsewhere. Been there twice after antiquing on a Saturday afternoon and food is fresh and delicious and staff very friendly! I had the reuben once and this time I ordered grilled Swiss and corned beef and that corned beef is probably the best I've ever had, hands down. Even the fries are amazing! Food came out very fast. This is a fairly small restaurant mostly a bar and the food is delicious. It's simple down home kind of cooking and they give you great portions. The service was fast and they're incredibly nice people. It's a typical bar atmosphere in fact the bar itself takes up 3/4 of the restaurant, but honestly, the food was quite good. We had hamburger and a sirloin steak sirloin steak sandwich and the fish fry which was cod and a chopped steak All of our meals were very good. we also had dessert which was a peach cobbler and a bread pudding and both of them were yummy. The prices were reasonable and the owners were there waiting on tables asking if everybody was OK if they needed anything it just was a really nice place, very casual wear and just a simple place to go to. read more

This rural tavern emulates an era when people got around on horseback or by train. The exterior looks a bit quirky, but inside it's quaint and homey. Even though this was our first visit, the smiling staff welcomed us like regulars. The menu features comfort food done exceptionally well. We began with a shared appetizer platter of onion rings, fried mushrooms, and cheese curds. My Missus agreed that their "Better Than Your Mom's Meatloaf" was better than her mom's meatloaf. I ordered the "Best Breast in Volo," an enormous fried chicken breast sandwich topped with ham, bacon and mozzarella cheese (hint: ask for a side of chipotle mayo). Our friends marveled at their oversize burgers with fries. No desserts were available when we visited, but the next time we antique hunt in the area, we will barrel in and, with luck, hang our lips on bread pudding or peach cobbler. read more

wow just wow. I have been to Bobby many of time. I live and hour away ! want to start off with how good the food is ! spot on. the only issue is the owner is a rude person to the people that come I. to eat Frisch fry ! here's what happen. first I ordered beer batter and Amy friend order the lemon and the garlic fish. waitress stall said I can do that for you. so we got are food. I orederes two mora prices of fish. which I ate one but didn't finish the other. the waitress came over and asked if we wanted boxes. we said sure. so instead of owner coming over and explaining that we can't take 2 prices of fish home. he grab are plates and said we wanted his money. we are not allowed to take fish home. wasn't the fact that we couldn't take fish home he continued to say you cost me money. why would you ores extra. you cost me 30.00 why would you ask to take something home you didn't pay for. in a very rude time to us. I will never step foot in this place ever agin do to owner is a rude asshole. if he would like to chat I am not scared call me we can discuss this. OWNER LEAVE A MEASAGE ILL GET UOU MY NIMBER. My wife and I started going here more than 10 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We would often meet freinds there for great food, Freindly service!!!!!!!! The food, staff and atmosphere is always great to have a great meal while you converse with family or friends that you are there with!!!!!!!!! I was lucky enough to see Bobby's from a morning stop at Dunkin and immediately thought that looks like a great regular space. I was then lucky enough to have time post hike at the Volo Bog to stop in for a late lunch. Sat at the wonderfully long bar and was served immediately. Traditional beer and liquor selections were perfect for the vibe. Paired a beer and a whiskey with a cup of chicken noodle soup (light on chicken for my particular ladle, but that is always a crap shoot) and cheese curds (too cheesy??!) Clearly being healthy post hike. Five stars for being exactly what they appear to be. A regular outpost along the road full of hearty food served quickly with zero pretension. I don't know what to say really about this place. Other than everything I have gotten there has been really good. Their western Benedict is amazing. Oats are good. The chicken ciabatta sandwich is excellent. Even their pizza is pretty decent little bit pricey for breakfast but you get a really good meal. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner tonight. It was excellent! I had the butter garlic cod with baked potato, and fresh made roll. My husband had the Italian beef with homemade baked beans. We were both happy with our selection. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful everyone there was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place to check out. read more

We got waited on by Bobby himself, what a delightful host. He definitely give's the place charm. We had the Broasted Chicken and coleslaw both delicious. We had the peach cobbler to top it off, another home run. Obviously all were home made. Such a delightful change from so many other places who used something pre made. Had cheese curd app, tuna melt custom made, meat loaf sandwich, chicken sandwich with no bread, kid chicken nuggets & a pizza. I have to defend Bobby's being called a pig-sty in a recent review-it's rather harsh. Bobbys is small, old, clean and charmingly whimsical. Found this place after Shopping At Woodman's. My wife and I were looking for a fish fry. So glad we found Bobby's!!! The best fish we ever had! Broiled or fried! The Cajun Catfish!! Wow! This place has got everything!!!! We stopped her for a Sunday brunch after a visit to Volo Antiques. So glad we did. This was exactly what we were looking for: nothing fancy, great food, and a great vibe!! Bobby's was filled with regulars who knew the staff well and that's always a good sign. It was Sunday, so the Bears were on TV losing to the Lions. I don't know if it was Mr. Bobby himself who greeted us, but this fine gent was very meticulous in explaining every element of each special of the day. He had me at smoked pork chop. Damn that was great!! Best I ever had and exactly as promised. Knowing that sucking on the bone is acceptable in these parts, I had no qualms about doing it. My wife had one the biggest piles of eggs and hash I have ever seen. The service we experienced here was top notch!! On the way out, I got sucked into the "game room" where I turned $20 into $40. My wife and I trek down from Milwaukee about once or twice a year. I am already hungrily anticipating our next visit so I may enjoy another visit to Bobby's Barrel!! read more

We were looking for a breakfast place in Volo while waiting for the museum to open and this place didn't disappoint.its not much looking from the outside but the food was excellent.. we had ham off the bone ,my friend had egg pizza of some sort and it was amazing..the waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Food portion was more than enough but we finished it all. The place was very clean. There's gaming too and a good size bar.. we will definitely come back for lunch next time and see what they offer.. read more
