I have been a customer of KC's Cabin for years. I lived and worked in the general area so to me it was in the neighborhood. I no longer live in the Spring Grove area and it is a 25 mile drive to KC's but it is worth it for the food. I have heard and read reports of KC's being in the middle of nowhere and I guess they are right but it is very easy to find. It's at the corner of Illinois 173 and Johnsburg-Wilmot Road. Google maps and/or a good GPS receiver will get you there. KC's is a mix of everything... It's a biker bar on weekends - it's a yuppie bar in the evening during the week - it's the place where everybody goes for lunch - and it's a sports and social club in the summer. Out back, there is a regulation volleyball court and league play runs all summer. KC's is like the Local (pub) in England; it's the glue that holds a community together. Everyone is made to feel welcome by the super friendly staff and the FOOD is great. The hamburgers are super - but tomorrow is St. Patrick's day and I am making the 25 mile trip for lunch. I hope I can get there before the noon rush. Corned beef and cabbage and boiled potatoes is on the menu and of course I'll wash it down with a pint of Guinness. Decided to stop in for lunch one day after going to KC's a time or two for late night drinks and music. I must say I was really surprised by the quality of the food. Tasted fresh and had great portion sizes for the price! Will definitely be back to eat again when in the area! read more

KC's has it all!! Excellent food, drinks, and staff! The burgers here are some of my all time favorite around! KC's is also a great spot to watch the musical performances that come through. This is a great place to come for both dinner and breakfast. We come here quite a bit more in the winter via snowmobile, but they also do volleyball and bags in the summer. Lots of outside seating and occasional live music is also a plus. I enjoy their burgers as well as the pizza. It's a must try! read more

Stopped there for the first time on a motorcycle ride, been back a couple times. They also offer a decent breakfast. Usually lots of motorcycles there when the weather's good. Burgers we've had were good. They also have a stage out back (outside) for live bands, and a couple of sand volleyball courts. Usually a busy place on the summer weekends. read more

I've eaten here twice in the last year and both times I thought the food was really good, as did everyone we were with. The first time we were with a large group and everyone got what was ordered (and with the many requested modifications!) The second time with just our family, but the same great attentiveness and experience. It's a great place for a family to stop and eat! Today, my daughter left her brand new winter coat hanging on the stool when she left. We got to the stop sign outside the parking lot and out comes the waitress chasing us down with the coat. To say I am thankful for her thoughtfulness and quick action doesn't really do our experience justice! She saved the day as I would have had a long drive back to retrieve it. KC's Cabin - Bars Near Me - Spring Grove, Illinois

We stop in every so often so we do not get burned out. Otherwise I would most likely be seen camping out at the door like waiting for a new IPad. Yeah, it's that good. Food is very good and if you like thin crust pizza, I suggest you try it. We love it! Staff is super friendly and always polite and helpful even when busy. Nice menu selection and seems to have specials daily. Indeed it is both family and biker friendly and we have a nice time chatting with the patrons. Keep up the good work KC's and staff! Been there a few times over the year. Food good. They have volleyball leagues as well.

This place is a rare gem in a rural area. We discovered it while floating and fishing the river. While it looks like it might be a bit rough on the outside, the inside is awesome. It's bar meets Wisconsin local restaurant. Everything from breakfast to supper is awesome! So good! The tater tots are the best! Pizzas are great, Reuben is awesome and the burgers are amazing!. The staff is super nice and friendly and the selection of beers on tap are sufficient. Being from Chicago, we ate here on a regular basis. Now that I live in Tennessee, this is where we have to stop when we are back in town. I wish we had a place like this in Tennessee.... read more

My first visit I went with a group of friends ,we got warm beer, cold food and bad service. My second visit, I went with my girlfriend for a few drinks, we were not going to eat, so I figured, How bad can it be? The bar was not overly busy, yet we had to wait a long time to be served, since the bar tender was busy discussing her weekend tryst with her friends. Dive bars are usually filled with friendly folks - but not here. The crowd was a mix of arrogant and surly. One particularly inebriated woman was mercilessly hitting on me, right in front of my girl friend. When I told her (repeatedly) that I wasn't interested, she started picking a fight with my girlfriend. All rational attempts to defuse the situation failed. No employee would intervene. I had no desire to get into an altercation with an old drunk woman, so we left. I will never return. read more

I hate being a poor reviewer but........a cool little place and all of the locals seems to have fun and know each other. That aside, the food was average and what really pushed me negative was the bathroom. Disgusting! All I could imagine was that the kitchen looked like the bathroom in terms of cleanliness and I had to get out. I won't be giving this another try. Food is good (4 stars), but everything else about KC's Cabin hits me the wrong way. Inside is a really tight fit and it can get really loud. If you sit in their 'dining room', especially during the summer, expect to have a constant line of people walking past you as you eat going from the volleyball courts to the main bar. Service can also be slow unless you're considered a 'regular', then you will receive service promptly (as proven by two of my visits). read more

Can a place have friendlier staff than here? I don't think so. Coming with a group? Call ahead and if they can they will save some space for you. You almost expect to see Norm from Cheers sitting at the bar. That comfortable. Not a big place but good food. Great place that you can even take the kids to when coming back from Wilmot Mountain. Stopped in for lunch today. We ordered a pizza and it was fantastic. The drinks were consistently great. It's our "go to" place on the bike.

Sick and tired of getting my delivery order to find out that they screwed it up again. I have now had several conversations with the owner and she told me they are making sure that everything goes out the door will be checked. I have had a few orders correct but this is getting bad. I am not calling to let her know this time. I am going to post how disappointed I am on yelp maybe she will listen now. If you all are listening g at KC Cabin let's get it right. We used to order from You once a week and due to the continual challenge with getting what we ordered we had cut back to once a month now we are only ordering every few month. I called from Wilmot Mountain two minutes away as we were snow tubing. Told the lady on the phone we had a party of 14 and she said it was no problem! We all hustled over and had a great time. Burgers were big and filling. Kids were happy with fried pickles, cheese sticks and burgers while the parents sat nearby eating Reuben's, burgers etc. service is excellent. Went here last night for a Halloween party. Was awesome. Drinks were reasonable prices. 4 dollars for a shot. 3 dollars a beer. This place was packed but the bartenders were nice and attentive. Everyone looked so cute. They had a contest for certain categories of costumes. I would definitely go back again maybe try there food next time. read more

The food is amazing. Killer burgers, awesome wraps, amazing pizza, and if you go on Saturday, get the ribs, you won't regret it. I find myself frequenting this place throughout the week because the price is right. Lots of drink specials and food deals throughout the week and the staff is amazing. The owner, Lynn, has done an amazing job at choosing the staff and running this place that I keep coming back. They truly make a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. If you want to be taken care of and you're of the select special ones then I'm sure jenny or karie are probably going to take care of you.. If you're not you're probably sitting at the bar with an empty drink watching them talk to other regulars or each other and completely ignoring you. Have no fear however if you happen to come here on a night when Erica is working you'll be taken care of and very well along with the brunette sarah (beware the blonde sarah she has the temperament of a chihuahua) overall a nice local bar but it's made quite apparent on every visit you make here there's some staff that had been here for far too long and they've become far too comfortable. Their food is good but their service sure isn't! We have enjoyed breakfast here many, many times. The waitress/hostess usually suggests just choosing any open seat. This time the waitress/hostess wanted to seat the two of us at a small table right next to the front door. There was a table for 4 in the corner and since it was not busy at all - I asked for that table. The waitress/hostess was quite put out that I would have the nerve to over-ride her and flatly refused to seat us there. She said if we did not want the table at the door then we could sit at the bar. We wound up sitting at a long table for 6 in the bar area. Couldn't have a table for 4 but we could have a table for 6! We placed our order and the food became cold very quickly because we were sitting very near the fan. Will be looking for a new place for breakfast. read more
