Apps were the Chinese long beans which very good and the avocado ragoon. They were crispy and tasty. The inside was a golden yellow which seemed a bit confusing for avocado but it still tasted great. We then splurged on the salted caramel gelato.

Anyway, Clever Koi came to the rescue and it was a great experience! I have been to the location in Phoenix, but it was a dinner visit and the restaurant was very dimly lit. This time it was lunch, so it was nice and bright. The service was wonderful!! I did not catch their names, but the the gentleman and lady who served us were very helpful. We ordered 3 of the Steamed Buns: Pork Belly, Hot Chicken, and the Bun of the Moment, which happened to be Drunken Shrimp, I believe. I didn't taste the Hot Chicken, but the other two were super tasty!! Portions were great and every morsel was devoured. The Krazy Fries were damn delicious!! Packed full of flavor and very filling, it's a great dish to be shared. I can't pass up pork belly!! Lol I forgot what drink my friend ordered, but I had no shame and had the Pornstar Martini, yessir!!! It was quite comical when our server mentioned that most people are embarrassed to order it because of its name, but I proudly said it loud and clear! That drink was perfect for brunch/lunch! Overall it was a great visit, minus the twitching fly that was on our table after we were seated. We didn't know if it was half dead or what, but my friend just swiped it across the table until it fell off. I'm not sure they have any control over flies coming into the restaurant as people enter and exit, but it was off putting to have to shoo them away while you're having a meal and trying to converse. Other than that fly issue, the visit was solid. Prices aren't bad and there's a big parking lot outside the establishment as well as a public parking garage not far away. I highly recommend Clever Koi if you've never been!

My ramen was yummy, although I thought it would be a darker beef ramen and it was not. Our server was not the friendliest in the world but she got the job done. I guess that's all the counts. I would definitely come back here to try the Hawaiian dishes because they look seriously delicious, but I wouldn't make a special trip for the ramen.

I figured a Sunday afternoon would be calm, so I decided to pop in for a solo lunch. What I Ordered: - Yuzu Mule: The drink was delicious and refreshing, so I ordered a second one. Definitely order if I return as well. - Hamachi Lime Roll: This roll had an odd texture to me, and ultimately, I grabbed the rest to go as it was a little off putting to me. The flavor was decent though I found myself wishing there was more crunch with tempura flakes or panko bread crumbs on top. - Crazy Roll: The winner between the two rolls in terms of flavor and preference. Though, I wish this roll had the spicy mayo the other one had. I'd definitely order again and ask for a side of spicy mayo that I could add to the roll. Love the soy paper option! As for ambiance? I thought country music was an incredibly odd choice for this establishment hence the 4 stars versus 5 star review. I'd prefer more traditional Japanese music, or heck, even some J-Rock over American country music. I'm guessing Sunday afternoon is a slower time, so it was employee choice. Overall, I'd visit again when in the area and recommend to friends/family.

Course 2: Spicy Scallop Futomaki/hokkaido scallop / benishoga / chili crisp/ takuan / wasabi mayo. This roll tastes great, scallop tastes fresh and I love the way it was seasoned. Course 3: Ocean Trout Mi-Cuit/ okinawa potato croquette / citrus cream/fried capers / crispy salmon skin. I love the cream and the capers in this dish. The fish is seared. Although not much flavor in the fish itself but because of the sauce, it complements the dish well. Course 4: Dessert - Yuzu Lychee Sorbet/vanilla whisky hojicha granita. Oh my gosh, this is my favorite dish! It was so good and refreshing! The yuzu sorbet was tart and creamy. And the hojicha ice underneath was delicious!
