I live super close by and I'm surprised I haven't heard of this place before. They have all day specials on sushi for like $7/ 2 rolls so like 16 pieces which is such a steal/ and it also tastes fantastic. The customer service was great and I loved the interior vibes and decor. My friend ordered a plate of a bulogi and it was soooo good. They also give u a choice of miso soup or salad. I don't think I've ever had a more rude/chaotic dining experience until last night with the management and wait staff at Kaze. I called ahead during the week to book a table for my birthday dinner at 8PM, no issues on the phone. I showed up 10 minutes early with a bit of my group and I was told by the host that he would only allow 10 more mins for the remaining people (3 total) to arrive before giving my table away..? What's the point in a reservation? The rest of my group walked in within the next 5 mins + we weren't even seated right away even though we were placed under this urgent "timeframe" of 10 mins. Unnecessary! Finally seated - took another 30 mins to have a waiter assigned to us to come and take our drink order (this was also only after a person from the group got up to go inform the host). I am not sure the name of the chef we had but he was nice and the food was good. That is the only positive thing I can say. I don't understand the rude demeanor we received literally the entire night when the restaurant wasn't busy to where we were being an inconvenience to their other patrons trying to get a table. We were treated terribly literally right after my initial interaction with the host as if they felt like taking out frustrations they incurred on my party. Along with this we asked 4 times among 3 different employees for our checks -felt like they were holding us hostage further provoking us to dine and dash like the group of pictures of people they've got posted on the front counter, which after our experience I'm sure their reasons were just as valid. We went with a group of people (17) and we seated 25 minutes later than our reservations and then waited 15 to 20 minutes for a server to finally came over to take our drink order. While going through drink orders one of us ordered a scotch on the rocks and the server said they carry no scotch. We asked again and said she was 100% sure the restaurant had no scotch'. We asked for a manager and she said they have no scotch and she knew the drink menu. The person went to the bar and they had three types of scotch, but he had to buy it and they could not transfer to the table. That was fine. Then she took our Meal order before getting us our drink order. 8 minutes later the cooks arrived. The cook had the fried rice done before we even got the drinks. No salad or soup was served and we asked many people no one could bring them and finally got some as the meat portion was being served. We ordered the best meat possible Filet and some of us got good cuts and some appeared they substituted for a different cut of meat (not) tender but cooked close to medium (not medium Rare)due to the height of our cuts. Not as thick as the filet cuts. Most of our shrimp was overcooked too. 3 of our people did not even get there entrée from the kitchen. They left early. Our visit was a birthday Dinner and due to all the bad service and we left early as not to celebrate the birthday. We have been there 5 times before but always have some issues but not even like this. I probably will not return. read more

Towards the end of our sitting the staff here followed my partner to the bathroom to ask if we were paying for our service. It's very sad and very unprofessional. First time ordering from this place based off of the previous reviews it didn't seem so bad however; I was greatly mistaken. I ordered the Mexican sushi roll, combination fried rice, and chicken ramen. First, they got my order wrong, they gave me chicken fried rice instead of chicken ramen which for me, not a huge deal we're all human we make mistakes but I included this in the review because that can effect someone's opinion whether they choose to come here or not. So for the Ramen - maybe my expectations were too high but I was thinking the noodles were going to be more of a substantial ramen noodle. I could have easily made this ramen at home using Top Ramen. The combination fried rice was salty and the chicken was hard but the worst out of all 3 was the sushi...HORRIBLE. The Mexican sushi roll is a California roll with three different sauces on top. The sauces particularly the green one had the WORST flavor but okay maybe my fault for taking a risk with a roll called "the Mexican roll" but a Californian roll is pretty basic how can you mess up that right?..WRONG the inside of the sushi was so mushy I was questioning exactly what I put in my mouth. Horrible Service. The chef did not make the orders correctly and when we brought it to his attention and he said "he didn't care" and waved his hand at the plate as if it was no big deal. It ended up only being 14 and we were 5 minutes late so they made us wait 30 minutes to be seated because they were allowing other walk in large parties to be seated knowing they had a large party on the way. They told us that they pulled our reservation because we were 5 minutes late they didn't even try calling me even though they had my phone number. They split the group in half and the second server didn't show up until like 10 min after the first. Let's be real here - how many times have you gone to Hibachi and had to wait like 45 minutes for the table to "warm up" when they really just want to stuff as many people as they can at the same table? Well lo and behold, Kaze is the only place that I've been to that does not do that :) I came during lunch on a Saturday and the place was fairly busy. I was really surprised by how nice the interior of the place was, because the outside looked like a mess. I did enjoy the koi pond (and they sell little fish food containers for 50 cents, which is really cute). The service is fairly quick and my boyfriend and I were sat down in less than 5 minutes and served our appetizers in about 10. I was really pleased with the service and how homey the hibachi tables were! I feel like on average, most tables are oversized and two people always get stuck on the awkward corners or almost the back of the table. These tables are much smaller and all the seats have a really good view of the show. Even with the amount of people there, we got seated in the middle of our hibachi table and had the entire thing to ourselves! I was pretty happy with the show, portion sizes, and flavor. I even asked the chef for extra butter on my steak and salmon... he totally loaded me up. I saw a lot of mixed reviews on Yelp before coming, but I had a really great experience here for my first time. I'd definitely come back based on my experience. read more

There was no hibachi seating available when we came which was perfectly fine. We came at peak dinner time and were still sat immediately which we weren't expecting. The front staff and our waitress were incredibly kind. The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant are lovely and feels authentic as you can be in Dallas. The miso soup and salad you are started with are average, nothing special. The appetizers took quite a while to come out. We got our meals before we got the appetizer. One of those appetizers was crab rangoon but the crab was chewy and rubbery like those fake crab meat sticks you can buy in a pack from Wal-Mart. Not good. I got a couple of sushi rolls which I actually quite enjoyed. My boyfriend got a bento box that was subpar at best. While we really enjoyed the look of the restaurant, all of the little koi ponds and the great staff, the food was not worth the money so we will probably not be back. read more

Well, we are visiting this restaurant for probably the last time tight now. We brought a party of six to celebrate our son's 28th birthday on a Wednesday evening. We waited a long time to order drinks, a longer time to receive them and then an even longer time to order dinner. Our dishes came out at random times. By the time my husband's entree arrived it was an hour after our arrival and 45 minutes after we ordered. Everyone else had pretty much finished eating. At least three parties arrived and were served between our order being replaced and received. The place was packed, at least partly with a huge multi family group in the back room that was deafening in the volume of shouting, banging and crying children. The food was pretty good, though cold by the time we received it. This place is too expensive for us to spend this much time, with two of our guests watching everyone else eat. Even now, almost two hours after we arrived, we're sitting here, waiting for our waitress to resurface so we can pay the freaking check and get out of here. Never again. read more

I've been coming to this location for over 30 years, and I've seen about 4 different owners that I can count. This is one of our go-tos for family parties. It's a fun restaurant and the food is excellent. I absolutely recommend it. 4 out of every 5 times we come here things are good. But for example, we came there about 6 months ago, and someone sat us, and no one ever came back. That's fine, it happens... That was one of the 20% issue times. We've been back a few more times and everything was fine. However, we went last weekend; and we reserved a large hibachi table for 8 people for a birthday party. I would say that 8 people and maybe 9 would have been comfortable at that table and we had 8. The guy seating folks was going to add 2 more strangers at our somewhat intimate setting for a birthday party. My wife's facial expression about this should have alerted him that we were not pleased about this. However, he didn't pick up on the social uncomfortableness she was displaying and off he went to get two more people to smash in at our table.
