Omg this is my favorite breakfast spot in Imperial beach. It's a quaint, adorably decorated place footsteps off the beach. I especially love the fishy bathroom. We come to Imperial beach yearly and I go to Katy's every morning I'm there. Starting with the food. Most recently I've had the Zac's breakfast sandwich and croissant sandwich with bacon. Both were so good and filling. I recommend getting both and splitting it with a friend so you can try them both. They have a full espresso bar with delicious hand crafted drinks. My cappuccino was perfect. Service is quick and staff is always friendly. The place is a little tiny but they have additional seating outback. We had 6 people and a baby and had no trouble. A hidden gem in Imperial Beach! My friends and I came to San Diego for a weekend trip and our Airbnb was just down the road from Katy's. I woke up in the morning craving some warm savory breakfast and when I saw Katy's was only 0.1 miles away, I knew I had to have it! The menu was super expansive, they had everything from fresh fruit to açaí to bagels, croissant sandwiches-- mostly breakfast and lunch options. My friends and I ordered two Zac's (everything bagels with sausage, egg, cheddar and avocado) and a cinnamon roll with pecans (you can choose to order cinnamon rolls without the pecans as well!). The sandwich was massive and super satisfying. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice too-- very casual. The inside really had a Central Perk feel, with leather couches and lots of beach themed items/paintings on the wall. The outdoor was adorable too with floral patterned tablecloths and rustic chairs. My friends and I got our order to go and ate on the beach! Super convenient since all we had to do was walk maybe 3 minutes from where the restaurant was to dig our feet into the warm sand and enjoy our breakfast! This is a great little cafe in Imperial Beach. Great for a small bite (breakfast or lunch), or a caffeine fix. Food: fresh, unique, and tasty. I ate here once for lunch and once for breakfast. I had the Dava, and the Melinda. Both are good choices. Drink: many coffee and iced tea options. I had iced tea on both of my visits: I'd like to try them all! There were ~20 to choose from! (No alcohol however.) The tea was freshly made/blended, so it took a few minutes, but was worth the wait. Atmosphere: excellent. Very cool, and divey. It's a little dark inside, and there is a bar with a few stools, and several couches, chairs, and high tables. The ceiling is decorated with hanging sea enchantments. Low volume old rock music was playing. There is also a back patio with a few tables, and a few tables out front off the sidewalk. Price: very affordable. I was around $12 -$15 each time. Great surf side spot for a brunch or a great sip of local hot tea. The hours they are open are limited but that is fine because it is worth the effort and wait to get some great food and drink. I have eaten there a few times and I love the sandwiches and the house tea (I forgot the name as it was recommended by staff). Awesome food , cute place and incredible smoothies. We stumbled upon this place while looking to meet one of friends for lunch and what an awesome surprise. The theme is surfing, mermaids and under the sea art. They have comfy couches and winged back chairs for relaxing, inside seating and outside patio seating in the back area. Today I had an incredible almost out of body experience eating a delectable cinnamon roll. It wasn't just your average cinnamon roll. Oh, no! This cinnamon roll is in a class of its own! The dough was obviously leavened overnight and why that's important is because it makes the roll easily digestible. It was light as a cloud! The fresh pecans had been lightly salted in the toasting process and this lovely gentle saltiness complimented each bite of the maple syrup that coated the roll. The icing was a lovely rich, smooth, creamy, real vanilla flavored, not too sweet delightful topping.
