Very casual place, very close to the beach. You order and pick up your food at the counter. They do have a seating area, though the tables could use a bit of cleaning because of crumbs from previous customers--but not a big deal. Our order was prepared quickly, and we got our food in less than 10 minutes. I love the açaí; it had just the right amount of sweetness, and the tangy yogurt combination was great. They cooked the egg just how we like it, and my son loves his croissant sandwich with bacon. Prices are fairly reasonable. I would definitely come back here next time I visit.
We ordered 2 classic breakfasts with pancakes but they didn't have pancakes, so I asked for the salmon bagel, they didn't have that either so they made something up. It's been a long time since I have been served disappointment for breakfast. If you don't have what I want I'd rather be told "No" than to pay for something I won't eat. Not likely to be coming back with the exception of coming back for a refund. The place is cute and all but cute doesn't make up for the disappointment.
I moved here 5 years ago I cannot tell you how much I love Katie's cafe. I'm there every morning at 6:00 a.m. it's a great place to hang out. Meet the locals. They all stop by. Very dog friendly. I also love all of the people that come by from out of town. Some of them I see every 6 months. Or once a year. They always come back. I am a big fan of the crescent beginning. Katie's is located right next to the beach. Could not ask for a better place to start my day.
Decided to take a walk in IB today and came across a cute little cafe. It was very busy from the minute we tried to order. Line was out the door. We went with two crossiant sandwiches and half a cinnamon roll. My coffee was a Mexican mocha and that was just okay. My sandwiches needed more mayo I am not a fan of a dry sandwich. We got our food before my coffee made it to our table. That kind of threw me off. Not sure what was going on today, but I'll still come back and give it another shot.
After I spent the night in the downtown Imperial Beach, I was cruising through their Strand and was looking for a quiet place to relax, grab a coffee and do some remote online work. I found Katy's Café and was pleasantly surprised. Katy's Café is a quaint coffee shop in downtown Imperial Beach and it is almost the perfect spot to grab some breakfast, a sip of coffee and even do remote work. Katy's Café is right on Seacoast Dr, within walking distance and close proximity to the beach and many other shops in the area. The interior decor is cute and comprises of many hand-painted murals that amply represent the coastal beach vibes. They have a few pieces of decor and also paintings for sale. The seating is varied and has space for singles, couples or even bigger groups of 6. My only observation is that the seating wasn't cushioned, but the setup was still nice. Their bathroom was spacious, clean, had a changing-table and more beautiful painted mural artwork. Service was excellent and attentive. I was greeted with a smile and also observed that they were very thorough in asking customers if they served the military (to give a discount I presume). My smoothie was pretty tasty and I loved that they used real bananas. The price was reasonable for the size and I was pleased that I could enjoy sipping while plugged into their outlet in my own quiet space. Perfect for remote online work. I definitely recommend coming to Katy's Café the next time in Imperial Beach and try their delicious sandwiches too (everyone was enjoying theirs).
This was actually the first place we ate at while visiting Imperial Beach! Location was convenient and there's parking right outside the building which is nice. Also close to the water. :) Staff were very friendly. I got the steak sandwich while my girlfriend got the Lox Bagel. Pricing for both was pretty average and nothing outrageous. Steak was very well good, had a nice texture and was savory. I also liked that the bread was nice and crispy. Well portioned too, I was pretty full in finished both halves. Tried some of the Lox Bagel too, and the salmon was delicious! I can see it being a good breakfast option. Great place for a quick bite. Interior has seating and feels on par with the beach vibes. PROS: - great location, parking available - pricing is average - steak sandwich is delicious; meat was well cooked CONS: - none! :)
October 31, 2023 about 9:30 AM. My sister visiting from Virginia treated me and my husband to this cute little cafe in Imperial Beach. She was due to fly out later in the day. I hadn't been here in years and was pleasantly surprised at how much they've improved IB. I was impressed at the array of new storefronts. Katy's Cafe wasn't very big but was bright, clean, and colorfully whimsical in decor. The ladies behind the counter were very sweet & welcoming. We all ordered their breakfast croissants aptly named "Croissant Beginnings" along with hot coffees. My sister & hubby had sausage while I ordered bacon. They are deliciously made with cheese and egg on a toasted, buttery croissant. Coffee was very tasty. Will definitely return when we're in the area again.

Came here on a weekday morning, busy, with a steady flow of customers. This place definitely has that laid back, divy, beach vibe. Super casual. There's tables inside with a living room feel, and additional tables in the back and front. Order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. The ladies working were all very friendly. I ordered a breakfast sandwich that included avocado. Except the avocado was more like a mashed consistency, and not necessarily guacamole. The ingredients were straightforward, but it tasted a bit off. I shared a bit of my sandwich with my hubby, and he agreed that it tasted funny. Sigh... But Their acai bowls are delicious!!! You can get a small acai bowl as a side dish, which is what I did, and it's more than filling on its own. The acai bowl included a small scoop of acai, fresh cut fruit, granola, AND yogurt. I really enjoyed it! If ever we come back, I am definitely sticking with the acai bowl. Super casual and laid back.. enjoy all the the random beach theme decoration/trinkets everywhere! Good thing the view is good because the food sucks. Smoothie taste like baby food. I've had better egg sandwiches in jail. Won't be back. Salt and pepper buddy. Since I can't reply I'll do it here. Cute little beach town cafe with a mermaid and surfer-girl theme. We got two breakfast sandwiches and a pecan cinnamon roll. The coffee was good, and service was friendly. It extravagant, but friendly and busy like people come in regularly. Local EMTs were there so it must have a good reputation! Sat outside on their picnic benches and then walked 50ft to the Imperial Beach right behind the place. Worth a try if you are looking for some local character instead of a standard fast food breakfast! read more

Very good Mexican mocha (iced). The mermaid special is okay. I think it's heavy on the banana - so if you're into that, you'll love it. Cinnamon rolls are seriously the best I've ever had. The chipotle sandwich was yummy. A little spicier than I expected. read more

This cafe is so cute and absolutely delicious! The staff was incredibly inviting. The food was SO good and the Nico-Lada smoothie (not sure if that's what it's called, but it was the special smoothie made by the special employee Nico) was absolutely to die for!! So grateful for our experience here while visiting San Diego. read more

Short walk from our Airbnb and just a skip away from the beach. Katy's Cafe was the perfect place to visit before a morning on the beach. My SO had a bagelwich with cream cheese, tomatoes, avo, and egg. I had the veggie start which was egg, sprouts, veggie patty, tomato, avo, and provolone w/ rye toast. The bagelwich was perfect and delicious just the way it was. The veggie start was also very delicious however I wasn't expecting a full on black bean burger. It was a bit much, but I stayed full till late afternoon so I honestly don't have too many complaints! The coffee...I think could've been better. Tasted a bit burnt and there was no cream/sugar combo that could've saved it. read more

This is the best place to have breakfast in IB. We had the fruit and granola parfait and chipotle bueno and both were made with super fresh ingredients and tasteful. The staff was super welcoming as well. read more

We were staying at a nearby hotel and want to grab a quick breakfast. So after narrow down to 2 locations, either this or the wave cafe, we decide to give this a try based on the review of yelp. Glad we did. Like everyone said, cute little place and cute decor. Surprisingly they have more seating than I anticipated. The price is reasonable and service was nice. The food was good. I wish instead of using smash avacado, they used sliced avacado. It would give a better texture. I try the Vietnamese late, it doesn't taste like Vietnamese coffee at all. It taste like regular coffee late. Definitely would come back if I'm in the area again. read more
Finding this place was by accident as I was taking a scenic walk down Seacoast drive. To hell with the chain coffee shops come get a great chai tea latte, or smoothie or Açaí bowl staff is friendly, owner is a cool guy definitely a surf town type shop. Don't be in a hurry it's a beach town leave the attitude behind sit out back listen to the ocean 50 yards away. My go to spot read more

The food was spectacular, totally over my expectations is the best coffee tasted ever. Also, I order a frap the flavor and mix was really good definitely I wanna return and try new things. The cashier was very nice it's feel like a very home-loving place. The place it was very beautiful you had 3 options to sit outside in the street, inside with a mermaid-sea decorations or in te backyard while you look at the sea. Really loved the place. Cute little place right off the beach. Can't quite see the ocean but you can hear it if you sit on the back patio. Stopped in for an acai bowl and latte. Both were excellent. The acai bowl was fairly big...just wish there was a bigger portion of acai in the bowl. $12.85 for bowl and 16oz soy latte. Staff is friendly and food comes out quickly! There's 2 hour parking right out front but I'm sure it gets hard to find parking on the weekend. I came in on a Wednesday so no issues there. read more

Do they have cinnamon rolls on fridays? Or just saturdays and sundays?
We normally offer cinnamon rolls Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but this weekend the baker that we get them from is out of town. He should be back next week though!
What are the updated hours? We came by this morning and they were closed. Yelp and google say it should be open. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Reopened Memorial day weekend. 6am to 5pm 7 days a week. Kitchen currently open till 2pm.
