Very casual place, very close to the beach. You order and pick up your food at the counter. They do have a seating area, though the tables could use a bit of cleaning because of crumbs from previous customers--but not a big deal. Our order was prepared quickly, and we got our food in less than 10 minutes. I love the açaí; it had just the right amount of sweetness, and the tangy yogurt combination was great. They cooked the egg just how we like it, and my son loves his croissant sandwich with bacon. Prices are fairly reasonable. I would definitely come back here next time I visit.
We ordered 2 classic breakfasts with pancakes but they didn't have pancakes, so I asked for the salmon bagel, they didn't have that either so they made something up. It's been a long time since I have been served disappointment for breakfast. If you don't have what I want I'd rather be told "No" than to pay for something I won't eat. Not likely to be coming back with the exception of coming back for a refund. The place is cute and all but cute doesn't make up for the disappointment.
I moved here 5 years ago I cannot tell you how much I love Katie's cafe. I'm there every morning at 6:00 a.m. it's a great place to hang out. Meet the locals. They all stop by. Very dog friendly. I also love all of the people that come by from out of town. Some of them I see every 6 months. Or once a year. They always come back. I am a big fan of the crescent beginning. Katie's is located right next to the beach. Could not ask for a better place to start my day.
Decided to take a walk in IB today and came across a cute little cafe. It was very busy from the minute we tried to order. Line was out the door. We went with two crossiant sandwiches and half a cinnamon roll. My coffee was a Mexican mocha and that was just okay. My sandwiches needed more mayo I am not a fan of a dry sandwich. We got our food before my coffee made it to our table. That kind of threw me off. Not sure what was going on today, but I'll still come back and give it another shot.
After I spent the night in the downtown Imperial Beach, I was cruising through their Strand and was looking for a quiet place to relax, grab a coffee and do some remote online work. I found Katy's Café and was pleasantly surprised. Katy's Café is a quaint coffee shop in downtown Imperial Beach and it is almost the perfect spot to grab some breakfast, a sip of coffee and even do remote work. Katy's Café is right on Seacoast Dr, within walking distance and close proximity to the beach and many other shops in the area. The interior decor is cute and comprises of many hand-painted murals that amply represent the coastal beach vibes. They have a few pieces of decor and also paintings for sale. The seating is varied and has space for singles, couples or even bigger groups of 6. My only observation is that the seating wasn't cushioned, but the setup was still nice. Their bathroom was spacious, clean, had a changing-table and more beautiful painted mural artwork. Service was excellent and attentive. I was greeted with a smile and also observed that they were very thorough in asking customers if they served the military (to give a discount I presume). My smoothie was pretty tasty and I loved that they used real bananas. The price was reasonable for the size and I was pleased that I could enjoy sipping while plugged into their outlet in my own quiet space. Perfect for remote online work. I definitely recommend coming to Katy's Café the next time in Imperial Beach and try their delicious sandwiches too (everyone was enjoying theirs).
This was actually the first place we ate at while visiting Imperial Beach! Location was convenient and there's parking right outside the building which is nice. Also close to the water. :) Staff were very friendly. I got the steak sandwich while my girlfriend got the Lox Bagel. Pricing for both was pretty average and nothing outrageous. Steak was very well good, had a nice texture and was savory. I also liked that the bread was nice and crispy. Well portioned too, I was pretty full in finished both halves. Tried some of the Lox Bagel too, and the salmon was delicious! I can see it being a good breakfast option. Great place for a quick bite. Interior has seating and feels on par with the beach vibes. PROS: - great location, parking available - pricing is average - steak sandwich is delicious; meat was well cooked CONS: - none! :)
October 31, 2023 about 9:30 AM. My sister visiting from Virginia treated me and my husband to this cute little cafe in Imperial Beach. She was due to fly out later in the day. I hadn't been here in years and was pleasantly surprised at how much they've improved IB. I was impressed at the array of new storefronts. Katy's Cafe wasn't very big but was bright, clean, and colorfully whimsical in decor. The ladies behind the counter were very sweet & welcoming. We all ordered their breakfast croissants aptly named "Croissant Beginnings" along with hot coffees. My sister & hubby had sausage while I ordered bacon. They are deliciously made with cheese and egg on a toasted, buttery croissant. Coffee was very tasty. Will definitely return when we're in the area again.

This is my favorite coffee shop in IB! The service is good and the coffee is even better! I get a vanilla breve and occasionally a dirty chi at least 3 times a week and it's always like sipping on heaven Their food is pretty dang good as well :) they have many options to choose from! read more

Perfect local cafe! Super kind staff with a really casual vibe. Tried 3 different sandwiches, two smoothies, and herbal tea. All were absolutely amazing! You cannot go wrong here and the staff is so willing to help you decide if you have questions. I'll be back when I visit for work again and likely come everyday just like I did this week. Looking forward to trying a few more things on the menu! Keep up the good work and COVID protocols. Also love the biodegradable boxes! read more

This little coffee shop up by the beach is adorable. I had an egg cheese sausage bagel , pecan cinnamon roll and a large coffee. Everything was delicious The pecan cinnamon roll could not be more decadent with flavor ! Fortunately they are only available on Sat and Sun....or I'd weigh 500 pounds. They are very dog friendly and they gave my girl a yummy pup cup. I shall return ! read more

A cute local coffee spot that was within steps of IB and our Airbnb for the weekend. Got the croissant sandwich. There aren't many coffee shops in the area, so was happy to find this place for a quick caffeine and breakfast fix. read more

This is a cute little cafe right near the ocean. There's two tables on the back patio which is nice for COVID and if you have a dog. A little hard to find depending on which way you come from since there's a handful of shops next to it and only a small sign. Park up the street and walk, probably not worth trying to park super close. Wish the tables had some shade, but not a huge deal - one goes to the beach for sun anyways! The smoothies were good, we had strawberry and peach. Wanted to try the acai bowl, but they were out of a few ingredient (we came later in the afternoon). Ended up getting two sandwiches. They were decent, the Davo looked better than the ham sandwich I got - the bread was a little dry but it was fine. Kind of a limited menu but that's fine. read more
Just love this little coffee shop. They have done so much to keep this place upgraded. The coffee is delicious and I especially love the cinnamon rolls. ALL the sandwiches are also fantastic. I really love the jumpy monkey (I think it is) frapp and the smoothies are delicious! Also the service is always nice, the people in there are always happy to answer any questions. read more

If you're staying in Imperial Beach, Katy's Cafe is just a short walks away. It looks quite small on the outside, but it can fit a good crowd. The thing that I enjoyed about this cafe is that it has its own specialty that caught my eye, the "Mermaid Special". I think this drink was pretty alright. It was subtle and nice the first few sips, but then you start to taste all the syrup and bitter coffee at the bottom which wasn't as pleasant. The Mexican Mocha was pretty good since the amount of ice was the perfect amount. I would say the wait time to get your coffee after ordering it is pretty speedy, but it can get busy quick! We did order a açaí bowl, and that came out pretty slow unfortunately. Would I go to this cafe again? I think it's a nice place to try out in the area, but I think there can be better options. read more
Chipotle croissant sandwich is delicious. The chipotle sauce is flavorful with just the right amount of heat. Mermaid drink was really good. Has outdoor seating in the back, a few steps from the beach. I Will be returning! read more

Food was great! They put a generous amount of avocado in the sandwiches! The customer service was amazing. This place is family friendly. I went with my two year old, newborn, and wife. I loved that they allowed dogs too! I live the location, right by the beach. Also, there was seating indoors and outdoors. read more

Oh what a wonderful find. This place is so adorable. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Alina and Daliela were amazing. The drinks and food top notch. This is exactly what I was expecting from a local coffee shop. Alina stirred the drinks which is a key step to any coffee drink. I informed Alina it was nice to see she made the drinks right as I was a barista for 6 years. I was very pleased and cannot wait to be back. I loved that Alina and Daliela knew the regulars coffee and food orders. I would highly recommend. Worth going out of your way to visit this coffee shop. Keep up the great work guys. read more

Katy's is always a solid choice for breakfast in IB. The lattes are super tasty and I really like the Chipotle Bueno and the Zac's sandwiches. We eat our food and then stroll over to the sand and take in the ocean views. Definitely an IB staple. read more

I was here last month when I stayed nearby for a week. I absolutely loved the smoothies and the breakfast sandwich. I had to take off some stars because of my first experience with them and their covid negligence. There was a pretty long line indoors and half of the customers had their masks down over their chins and were talking to their friends spreading their breath throughout the air. The cashier had a mask on but it would keep slipping down and uncovering her nose. She had to keep pulling it back up every 20 seconds. At no point did any of the staff tell the customers to please put their masks on. I don't know if it was just an off day though, because the next few days when I came back all of the customers had their masks on and I even saw another staff member ask someone to put their mask on. I hope the staff keep doing their part and ask people to keep their masks on according to health guidelines. read more

4.5 stars!!! Since our neighborhood coffee shop is temporarily closed today- we opted to go outta our neck of the woods & eat al fresco. Of course this meant bringing our fur baby, Bronx, to join us- that way we can take him on a walk afterwards. Reading previous posts- it looked like it was a free for all to bring dogs. As we pulled into a parking stall right in front of Katy's Cafe- there's a sign posted right by the door- NO PETS ALLOWED!! Except service animals. So, hubby was a bit discouraged. And, I told him to hold on & let me check. I walk inside (and I'm sure it's the business owner- pretty blonde lady). I explain how we have our bulldog inside of the car & asked if the sign pertains to eating at the tables out front. She said that's not a problem... (Bronx isn't a service dog of any kind). Anyhow, she thanks me for asking-- only because she stated how she doesn't want to get fined for having an animal inside & that she's actually been bit/ attacked twice. So- I had to start my review with that being said. Now, since we arrived for breakfast- there were tons of breakfast sandwich options available (served with croissant or bagel). That's why I docked a half star--- it's be nice to offer chips w/ the breakfast sandwiches. (I noticed chips were offered for the lunch menu). Although I didn't personally ask the cashier if I could get a bag of chips-- there was no display of chips visible. Ordering at the counter was a breeze. There are a variety of options from smoothies, hot/ cold teas, & hot/ cold coffees. I picked the Chipotle (meat of choice ) sausage croissant. It came toasted, with chipotle spread, pepper jack cheese, spinach, & tomatoes, & a fried egg . It was delicious & every time I bit into it- none of the ingredients spilled out. Despite how piled on the spinach heaped. I ordered a medium latte w/ almond milk. Which came piping hot (in a good way). I felt like I could squeezed in something else to fully satisfy my appetite. But, all in all- it was good. Service was great. Chatting with other customers while waiting for our orders is always a plus. Afterwards we took an easy breezy walk to the pier to show Bronx the beach. read more

Omg this place was a cute like "surf/beach" vibe place! We were staying at an Airbnb down the road and decided to walk there which I'm so glad we did! This place wasn't your upscale place but it made me feel like home. Service was good, the lady called out names and dropped the food off to us which was nice of her. I must say I really enjoyed my croissant breakfast sandwich but can't remember what it was called! I just remember it having pepper-jack cheese and a chipotle sauce. I added avocado and for me that made it perfect to my taste! My friends and I all enjoyed our drinks and food so much we couldn't stop talking about it. The food and drinks are such a reasonable price, in my opinion. When I decide to visit Imperial beach again, this is one place I'll be grabbing a quick but delicious bite. read more

Do they have cinnamon rolls on fridays? Or just saturdays and sundays?
We normally offer cinnamon rolls Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but this weekend the baker that we get them from is out of town. He should be back next week though!
What are the updated hours? We came by this morning and they were closed. Yelp and google say it should be open. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Reopened Memorial day weekend. 6am to 5pm 7 days a week. Kitchen currently open till 2pm.
