Let me start with the service was really good. Fantastic! Over the phone the young woman was professional, friendly, accommodating / she checked with the cook and food handling brochure to be sure whether or not there was meat in the lasagna. As it's listed, it looks like there isn't any, but there is, it's got meat sauce in it and it's delicious. Really the best lasagna I've had in town ever. The young woman that answered the phone was neighborly and kind, and I appreciated that because I had never eaten there before she informed me thoroughly of what they had. She was nice when I got to the store as well bonus right? As far as the food goes, the lasagna was fabulous. I enjoyed every bit of it. I ate half that night and I ate half the next day and it was delicious now the next day I added a little bit of sauce to it but that's because when you cook something, it gets a little bit dry but as far as when it came to me that night, it was perfect and I've had lasagna in every Italian restaurant in town. And I have to say there was the best for me. There was the best. It looked good and it tasted good and the sauce was good. We also ordered the spaghetti which looked really good with meatballs,. I was told it tasted very good. It could've had a little more sauce. And and I can say that for almost any of the Italian restaurants in town I always order extra sauce on my spaghetti, and I probably should've done that last night for his, but he doesn't like as much sauce as I do anyway. Again he ate half of his that night and then finished it the next day. I had opened a bottle of sauce the next day... you know better little more sauce than no sauce, and he added that to it and it was still very good. So to break it down, their sauces are very good. The the spaghetti dinner could've used a little more sauce. But it was very high appealing, and the pasta was cooked. just right. Same with the lasagna the noodles were perfect. They were very good at the sauce was excellent on my lasagna. The amount of cheese on top was fabulous. I'm a cheese lover. I didn't have to add anything to it or order extra cheese it was perfect. The sauce was excellent. It's hard to find a good pasta sauce. There's is very good. The lasagna fillings covered the noodles evenly. They topped it off with a good serving of real cheeses. The kind of cheese that stays soft and stringy. Again the sauce was really very good. Their serving size is very nice. A grown runner or football player or a hard working military personnel are going love it. They're gonna be able to sit down and finish their meal feeling full and satisfied, no problem. For me one meal fed me two nights. EVEN BETTER. . Nobody walks away hungry. Everything tasted home-cooked. If you like sauce order a side or sauce with the spaghetti. Otherwise he said it was perfect. The meatballs looked great. They were a good size and quality. He enjoyed his dinner. Normally I would have tasted them before reviewing but I was really into their lasagna. Nothing was overcooked a lot of times you order lasagna and it's overcooked or undercooked and it's sloppy. This was really really good food. I will definitely order again from this particular Pizzeria Luigi. And the next time I go in, I'll try something different... along with my lasagna. They don't have desserts. That's just too bad because the food 's just too good. They don't really need desserts. My only complaint and everybody's gotta have one. Their garlic bread is mediocre. Dry crunchy wafer thin slices of French bread. It may be traditional. It was really small slices. I dipped it in my sauce and it was good. They also didn't $ charge extra for it. *You'll find other Italian restaurants in town will charge you more for garlic bread. Well at least one will. They will put soft French bread along with combination plates but garlic bread is extra. -. Which is ridiculous. So I can't complain too much . I got my garlic bread and they didn't charge me more for it. It was just really thin and small and maybe it was just the end of the night and they didn't have anything bigger or maybe that's just a traditional way to serve garlic bread. Crunchy thin slices instead of soft mushy oven browned slices of garlic bread could be.? They don't have desserts but again food is excellent. Even though I would have liked more garlic bread it is totally worth your time to go in there. It's right by the beach on 1st Street, It's called Seacoast Drive now . Say hello to Alex she helped me both on the phone and at the counter with my order. Alex will make your visit a pleasant experience . It's like she has known you your whole life. I stopped by Pizzeria Luigi about 45 minutes before closing. Their kitchen had just closed so they had slices from the case available. I went with three slices, the first was pepperoni slice, the second was the White Girl which had chicken, bacon, and spicy ranch; and I can't remember the name of the third slice. The slices were heated up again in their oven. The pizza slices were just okay, not special, I think it's because it was from the case and I went late at night. I would like to go back and try as freshly baked pizza. The customer service was great, the guy working was very nice. My total for the three slices and a drink, including tax was $12.23. I've been eating at Luigi's Pizza in Imperial Beach for the past several years, and unfortunately, this will be my last visit. It had been several months since I last ordered from Luigi's. The reason for that was a previous experience where my order wasn't prepared as requested and the customer service at the front counter left a lot to be desired. Rather than make a big issue out of it, I simply chose not to return for a while. Recently, with family in town and living just down the road, I decided to give Luigi's another chance. I ordered a standard pizza that was half pepperoni and half cheese, along with four garlic knots. When I was told the total was nearly $37, I was honestly shocked. I understand that nobody forced me to place the order. Once I had already ordered, I decided to go through with it. However, what bothered me most was the complete lack of price transparency. While waiting for my food, I looked around the restaurant and could not find pricing displayed for the pizza or other menu items anywhere inside the restaurant. The total was given verbally, leaving customers with little way to verify what they're being charged before committing to an order. What makes this even more frustrating is that Luigi's online menus still appear to show older pricing. Customers who check the menu before visiting may reasonably expect to pay those advertised prices. Yet once inside the restaurant, there are no visible prices displayed to compare against. If prices have changed, they should be updated online and clearly displayed in-store so customers can make informed decisions before placing an order. The pizza itself was decent, but nothing extraordinary. Paying nearly $37 for a basic half-cheese, half-pepperoni pizza and four regular garlic knots felt excessive for what was received. Several customers who came in while I was waiting even commented on the lack of visible pricing and agreed that it was frustrating. It's disappointing because Luigi's has been a local staple for years. As a longtime customer, I expected better transparency and a better overall experience. Unfortunately, this visit confirmed the concerns that kept me away in the first place. I won't be returning. That's not a huge loss for the business, but it's disappointing to see a longtime neighborhood pizza spot move away from the level of service and transparency that local residents deserve. The pricing feels excessive and lacks the transparency customers deserve. I hope Luigi's improves its pricing practices and customer service, but for now I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Super chill pizza spot right literally steps away from the water in imperial beach. The location alone is a win , you can literally grab a slice and walk straight to the sand. They've got both indoor and outdoor seating, but on a hot day I'd definitely recommend sitting outside because it gets pretty warm inside. Atleast outside on the deck you can get a breeze. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. We tried a mix of pizzas. Kids got classic pepperoni & cheese (NY thin style) I got the mushroom pesto (good, flavorful and light) Hubby got a Hawaiian with jalapeños (deep dish style) Loved that they offer different styles depending on what you're craving. The last pizza stop I made was Village Pizzeria on Coronado. I definitely like the crust here more. It was nicely crispy after going back into the oven. I got a slice of the buffalo chicken looking one and a slice of the ricotta, marinara, and meatball concoction they call "crime scene." The lady at the counter said that's their best seller and a customer favorite, and I can taste why. Something about the way the marinara is portioned makes it super appetizing. Like, I'll take two bites of mostly ricotta cheese, and it'll almost start to feel cloying. But then I get to the next section of marinara, and it's like my taste buds are refreshed. In contrast, the chicken one was not great. I thought it was drier than it looked, and the chicken was too lean, bland, and overcooked for my preference. But the crust was still good. You can also order whole pies of your favorites and their menu has options that might not always be out so make sure you check it out if you're ordering a whole pie. Flavor is always on point and slices are always hot and fresh. They also have bomb garlic knots and selection of drinks to choose from. It's a small cozy interior, they have bar seating and low top bench tables, a bench out front, and a whole patio full of seating. So even during busy times you can always find a seat. Folks sorry to say I was recommended this local little pizza place while visiting Imperial Beach area this past week. Being from Michigan I love Detroit Pizza and thoroughly enjoy a good pie no matter where I go. Unfortunately this place was not it . The inside was dirty to include how the staff was dressed. I did try a couple pieces of pizza and unfortunately had a terrible stomach ache that evening and the the next day.. the pizza was not good , lacked flavor and the crust was just ok at best . After years of coming here i think this experience has ruined it for us. Came in Sunday night - drunk worker, taking drinks with people coming in (who didn't ask for free drinks), chugging in front of us. -forgot about our wings. Ordered 4 slices - he gave us 3? Then we didn't get the 4th slice we wanted bc he was giving out pizza orders randomly and by the time we got ours the pizza sold out. Some girl asked for the bathroom code and he said only if he gets her phone number. The people in front of us didn't pay because he was too drunk to ring them up as they were ordering. The bathroom was a mess. People who had called in and were waiting had been waiting on pizzas that i could see had been done for 20 minutes minimum because they had been sitting on top of the oven to keep warm and he forgot to check. Super disappointing and creepy experience. Idk who's getting hired there anymore but it has very quickly gone down hill bad. What happened to this place? I've been here twice, both on a saturday in the last two months. The line is insanely slow with no apologies from staff. Employees saying they're short staffed is a common theme. It is hot while waiting 20 min just to order food. The restrooms are disgusting. I get they were going with the graffiti theme but at least keep them sanitary. A pregnant sweaty woman takes your order while simultaneously running the kitchen. Followed by a young lady with a bad attitude and lack of customer service skills. The pizza was dry and tasted like cardboard. No leadership from management or ownership. No sanitary standards. I ended up getting it to-go because I was fishing nearby on the pier (only a 10 minute walk). If you're looking for good pizza where you can grab a slice and just hang out by the beach, this is a good go to spot. The service here is always friendly and helpful. It's a small spot but they have a patio outside with a lot of benches and it has the same look of a lot of local spots in San Diego with kind of a beach punk rock vibe with the decor. We've tried the pizza slices, garlic knots and spaghetti here and the food is always good the only thing that wasn't super appealing is although the pizza tastes fine, pizza they sell by the slice behind the glass looks old and like its sirs all day.
