Walked in like a week ago and got a piece of pizza. Guy behind the counter said, "you want an extra slice for free?" I said "heck yeah" It was a slice I don't normally eat but hey, I appreciate the offer! Ordered chopped cheese and fries. BOMB. I let my mother take a bite and she was like, "oh mmm, that's tasty!" We ordered two pizzas and were told they would be ready in about 45 minutes. After waiting over an hour, my husband asked about the order. The owner became confrontational, refused to provide the pizzas or a refund, and told him, "Get out of here before it gets bad." I was on the phone with my husband during the incident, heard the owner and another worker yelling at my husband, and drove to the shop. After hearing I was coming, the owner finally gave my husband the pizzas. He then called him a "coward" and claimed that because he gives free pizza to the Chula Vista Police Department, they would "definitely help him" if the situation escalated. Throughout the incident, we were simply trying to either receive the food we had paid for or obtain a refund after waiting well beyond the promised pickup time. The owner's threatening and unprofessional behavior made us feel cheated and uncomfortable. We had been loyal customers for the past few years and were shocked at the owner's behavior. The owner had no problem yelling at me or my husband infront of other customers. I will no longer be returning to this pizza shop. read more

I have been eyeballing this pizza place for awhile! It did not disappoint. This pizza was the cheesiest, the most juiciest, flavorful pizza Ive tried in a long time. We got home and noticed the pizza was kinda burnt on the edges but decided to give it a try anyway. First bite and it tasted burnt/bitter. We looked at the bottom of multiple slices and they were all burnt and black. It was inedible. The top part with the cheese and sausage was good but the burnt taste was just too overpowering. We called them to let them know and the guy on the phone asked who the order was for and said "my coworker didn't think it was too burnt". Then he said they can remake it but in an hour because they were very busy. We were already about to arrive so we told them we were coming back right now. We got there and there's only 2 customers in the restaurant. The big guy with the glasses gives attitude right away, takes the pizza and inspects it and says "That's too burnt for you?" We say yes we can't eat it, doesn't taste good. Then we ask for it to be remade and he says it would take like 30-40 minutes to remake or he can give us a refund. We ask for a refund and my bf is telling him it's just not edible and he takes the pizza, goes to the back, and we see him throw it to the side where he wasn't visible anymore and it and it sounded like he punched it a few times. I was honestly kind of scared. I'm sad we had a bad experience because we love supporting small businesses but this was just so unprofessional and weird; he could've handled it differently, he could've gained business and a positive review. read more

Great pizza. Really good fries. So-so service. It just depends. I've had good service and then not so good service. The fries especially seem random. One time they said they put two orders in one box and they were a little burned. I've ordered enough times to know we paid for two and got about 1.5. Another time they messed up another order ahead of me, but were making all our fries at once, and they took fries out of my order to complete an additional box for them. When I asked for more fries they said that's the order size, which frankly, it was not. I had already waited 45 minutes for the pizza and had no time to deal with them. Again, the food is good. My kids like it and they've tried the pizza, fries, chicken sandwich, philly sandwich, etc., and it is always good. They need an additional worker so that one worker is not "schizophrenically" making food, answering the phone, pouring drinks, and then expected to get it all right. read more

The pizza was decent, but the service left a really bad taste in my mouth. I asked to have the Padres game put on the TV, and the staff member (who appeared to be a manager or supervisor, as he was giving instructions to another employee) basically told me that San Diego sports aren't allowed in the restaurant. As a lifelong San Diegan, that response was disappointing and frankly insulting. This is our home team in our city. It's not a big ask to catch the game while eating. Dang, I shoulda checked Yelp first. I seen a video on tik tok talking bout this spot and some girl was like "I drive from Esco just for the pizza" and I told my wife to pick some up after work. We have a cheese, sausage and some other one. Disappointing, glad we tried it again but Bambino's is way better, this place has decent cheese, okay sauce but the crust is too chewy. Tastes like a reheated pizza that's 1 week old. It's diff than the chain places so try it yourself, but I don't think we will be coming back. I've known and drove by this place dozens of times and finally tried them out. It is located in a tiny strip mall maybe only four businesses. Caliano was at the end. Outside the had a couple picnic tables and maybe inside for about 20 guest with a number of tables a couple tvs and a corner section with a couple Video game consoles. Simple and clean. They greeted my son and I when we entered and took our order quickly at the counter. We ordered the double cheese smashed burger, a cheese steak sandwich and an all meat pizza. My Don really loved the burger and it was smashed even the bun, lol. The cheese steak sandwich was great. Lots of meat and very balanced flavors. After we ate these we also started working on the pizza. It was alot for us and we ended up having left over pizza for the next day. The pizza was a New York style pizza and tasted like one as well. I never right reviews but I would want to read one like this before I go into a place like this. TERRIBLE!! The food nasty the service even worse. We waited way too long and the staff was disrespectful and not helping. The heavy set male with beard that was making the pizzas is disgusting. He kept going to the back and came out with a handful of cheese bare hands. I tried to think that his hands were clean until I see him touching everything In the kitchen and he kept wiping his hands in his pants. Horrible service and that's by the owner, I ordered a pizza, cheeseburger and hot wings over the phone and was told it would be ready in an hour showed up an hour later paid and was told they would call me when it's ready, after 20 minutes of waiting I asked the owner about how much longer it would be and he didn't even reply , 10 minutes later I asked the cook and said they had bumped my order since I had already asked as if they were doing me a favor, reason I kept asking was because I had the family in the car also waiting so waited a total of 45 minutes after the hour that we had placed the order, the food was terrible and was there enough to see some unsanitary handling of food. They didn't have a huge selection of different pizzas. Maybe only 3 different kinds which was a bit disappointing. My pizza was a bit burnt on the crust as well. I think I prefer Luigis pizza. read more

Came in last week, termites crawling on walls and counter, smaller bugs crawling on tables. If someone ever told me that my favorite thing at a pizza place would be their burgers, I'd call them crazy. But man, this is the spot. I haven't had many smash burger style burgers before, so my experience is limited, but in my opinion Caliano Pizza has perfected the craft. Bun is perfect, the patty is smashed to crispy goodness, the cheese I usually opt for the deluxe burger as I enjoy the lettuce and tomatoes. We usually have them there, so I can't speak on whether or not the Patties will remain crispy if you take them home. The pizzas are good. New York style. Probably my favorite pizza spot in Chula Vista, though I'm still exploring the area. They also do pizzas by the slice if you want to fill your craving without committing to a whole pizza. My go to is the meat & co. The little shopping center isn't too busy, so I've never had issues with parking. They do have a lobby/seating area, but it's not huge, so I'm not sure how it would work for large parties. Just some 2 or 4 person tables. Service is good, no complaints from me there. read more
