I was never a fan of tortas, but after eating a turkey torta, I'm officially going to say that I liked the one I had couple days ago at D-K-Che! I'm in and plan to make tortas as a part of my sandwich selection at restaurants/shops in future. Just to slow things down though, I want to do baby steps and actually stick to D-K-Che Fruteria's torta. Not too sure what it was for me, but my hunch, it may have been the bread and its size. The bread size was not the average that of a torta sandwich, ultra soft on inside, little crunch on the outside and all the fixings that came with it. I even liked the non hot/spicey jalepenos. The torta could have been made with a little more turkey and romaine lettuce. Other than this, it was perfect torta and delicious. And, it did not fall apart, like most breads do. So far, D-K-Che is has the best tasting torta in town. My daughter had been going to this place since Covid days. She usually purchases acai, fruit bowls, and fruit drinks. She is a fan of D-K-Che. On the other hand, my partner loves the tortas, chamango and other fruit drinks. Also a fan but may sometimes venture off to other places in imperial beach to see what's out there in terms of price and taste. Side note. We had tried the carne asada torta. If I could give a no-star review, I would be. My mom suggested this place for lunch, it was my first time there. We ordered two freshly squeezed orange juices and when I went to pick up the tray from the counter the corner of the tray hit the back of a display basket they had on the counter spilling one of the juices. As policy, they did not replace my drink. After about 10 minutes of me waiting to see if they would or not and becoming thirsty I went to order a water bottle and the lady behind the counter told me not to worry about the cost of the water bottle because unfortunately she's not able to give me another juice. The worker clearly saw that it was an accident and that the juice was spilled, without even being opened. Sorry but that was a horrible first impression - I'll call it a "worst impression!" They made a pretty good size sandwich with tuna salad, chopped onions, lettuce, tomato and avocado on toasted wheat bread. It far exceeded my expectations. Although it's a sit-down restaurant, they have the interior completely blocked off and you can only place orders at a table they have stationed at the door. I was satisfied with my acaí bowl. But I have to be honest...when I got the container, I felt it was overpriced. But as I ate it, I realized it was actually really filling and well made. 2 fruit salad and a salad all for $25 plus extra fee to add chamoy to one of the fruit salads. Fruit salads were very good, I mean it's fruit how can anyone F that up? The fruits were all sweet and the bowl was full not partially or skimpy like other places near by. The salad on the other hand was bad!! My salad was literally filled with all the yellow and white parts from the head of lettuce. Like did they save all of this crappy lettuce just for me?? That's what I thought because I never seen so much yellow and white in just one lettuce head!! Unfortunately I didn't notice it until I lifted up the 4 large tomato slices and ham that covered the salad. I love this place they have the best veggie torta! Tons of veggies including jalapeños and also panela cheese. Unfortunately, the cheese was missing completely one time I had the sandwich delivered and that really ruined my lunch cuz the cheese is the most important part! Otherwise I'm just eating a bunch of vegetables and bread with zero protein! I couldn't go get the cheese cuz I was at work and they refused to bring it to me for their own obvious reasons. Today, ordered the same sandwich and I'm so disappointed that I have the tiniest slice of cheese on this huge veggie torta. I even wrote in the "notes" section to not forget the cheese. Love getting acai bowls from D-K-Che. The fruit is always fresh and the base is phenomenal. Granted, it's more sorbet like, but it tastes great nevertheless. I always go for the acai peanut butter and it's perfectly portioned. Recently, I tried their matcha acai bowl and even that one tasted delicious! Portion sizes are great and an easy way to get your vitamin C. I wish they put more blueberries in their bowls, but that's okay because it's typically to go and I add some more at home. I also get a side of protein to put in my bowl which adds some extra flavor. Their sides are very reasonably priced so I always try to take advantage of that. The workers there are really nice too so that's a plus. No complaints here! This place never disappoints. Also, their esquites are pretty good too. I don't know what to recommend, they have a variety of yummy items. My friends usually get their tortas here and even they say it's delicious (I have yet to try them). First of all I had to wait a long time to get my items. I get it sometimes its busy but other people that came after us got their orders first! I ordered some cueritos preparados that claimed they had penuts not one single penut was on my cup . I didn't notice till I got home! This is my first time coming here and probably my last!
