We decided to stop at the iconic Katie's Diner for brunch before heading over to Meow & Mocha! We were warmly greeted right away and only waited about 15 minutes before being seated. My daughter ordered the BLT while I went with eggs, French toast, and bacon. Both meals were delicious, but I have to say--the French toast really impressed me! The coffee was also excellent. On our way to OKC we decided to try this place out. The reviews really good, and they were right! It's a small place but we found a table. You seat yourself. Our waitress was very kind and gave us a bit to look at the menu. I ordered the smaller cheeseburger and fries, my husband ordered the full order of biscuits and gravy with sausage- you can order it without sausage, that's a plus. The burger was probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long while. The patty was definitely fresh and hand made. I usually put the lettuce and tomatoes on, I did not this time. The simplicity of the burger does not call for extras in my opinion. My husband said the biscuits were very light and fluffy, and he ate the entire thing. He can get his southern home cooking and I can get the biggest and best salad I've ever had, called the seasonal, because they put different fruit in it depending upon the season. It has different types of lettuces, candied pecans, a variety of fresh fruits and nice chunks of chicken. I get their excellent balsamic vinegar dressing on the side because I take half of the salad home for a second meal. My husband is partial to the country fried steak or the slab of ham, but has never had anything he didn't think was great. We live 25 miles away but still go there for lunch several times a month. This place was busy the whole time we were there and I understand why. We were greeted promptly on arrival and instructed to seat ourselves. IMMEDIATELY after we sat down a server approached and took our beverage order and gave us menus. Almost immediately (not really - but close to it) our drinks arrived and she took our food order. She returned very soon after that to top up my coffee (it never went below two-thirds full), and about sixty seconds after that she brought our breakfast to us. I was going to order more food, but was glad I didn't after our plates arrived. The meal wasn't spectacular, but was every bit as good as any other breakfast spot worthy of your visit. If you're in the area and looking for a great place to have an honest, stick-to-your-ribs breakfast, this is it! I think this place is a local staple for Guthrie. It's kind of small inside and every time I've been it's packed but somehow the wait is never that long & people seem to be in and out. (probably recognizing the need to let other people sit and eat) We had their cheese burger and fries and french toast. Everyone had been raving about the burger, but when it came out it didn't look that appetizing. It almost looked like a sonic burger, but once I tasted it I could understand the hype. It was good, like a really good and fresh homemade burger. I appreciated that it wasn't a huge patty either, it was sized well and cooked well. The french toast gave me middle ground of what you make at home and what you order at a restaurant, I would definitely order this again!
