We had three different people serving us throughout our visit, which made the experience feel disorganized. Our order was delayed because of the high volume of to-go orders, and we waited over 30 minutes for two small plates, one of which appeared to be only partially prepared. When our food finally came out, staff initially tried to give us someone else's order, suggesting there was confusion about which dishes belonged to which table. The restaurant also appeared to be in need of a thorough deep cleaning and better overall organization. The food was about what we expected, but the service was noticeably below the standard we've experienced at other locations. This diner is in a very old building, and is the smallest Boomerang we have been in. What remains the same is the warm, attentive service. Servers here make me feel like I am being welcomed into their home, not their place of business. Several employees came over to make sure we were happy with our visit. And we were. Great food. A little surprised about everyone else's review! We ate here twice and only have a minor complaints. I loved the feel of the feel of the diner and the waitresses we had were nice. During our first visit, my husband ordered a double cheeseburger with fries and okra. I ordered a mushroom burger with fries and fried mushroom. The fried mushroom were to die for! Best fried mushrooms I've ever had. The burgers were great as well. Okra was good but nothing special. There also a special going on so it came out to only $20 for the both of us. Oh almost forgot, their ranch is EVERYTHING. Loved it. We knew we had to go back one more time before we left Guthrie so we came back on our last day there. It was a little disappointing because they didn't have mushrooms that day so my cravings weren't completely satisfied. I opted for a side salad instead. I'd been wanting to check out this place for awhile and today we had time and so we went in. I thought it only had parallel parking on the west side but it turned out that it was located in the corner of the building it's in and so there is more parking on the north side where the front door turned out to be. Walking in it looked like a small 50's diner with oldies playing music over the speakers. There were pictures all over the walls of old movies and actors. Even the restrooms had signs up: "T-Birds" for the men and "Pink ladies" for the womens. We sat ourselves down at a table and a waitress immediately came to get our drink orders. We both ordered sweet teas and she handed us paper menus filled with options. On the back is a kids menu and a place for kids to play. The teas took awhile as they were having to make more. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy and Texas toast and my husband ordered Hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and Texas toast. Both of the meals came with small salads. When the food arrived, it was bigger than the plate! My Chicken fried steak looked huge, it was once I was cutting into it where I found that most all of it was crust. My husband liked his Hamburger steak and couldn't finish his potatoes before he was full. It was all delicious though besides all the crusts. The waitress never came back to check on drinks or see how we were doing. She showed back up at the end to ask if she could clear our table and we asked for more drinks in to go cups. While in Guthrie and looking for grub , we were recommended this place and it was legit.!! This was on a Saturday around 11 and it was immediate seating for 4. The inside is nice and clean and very visual, tons of old pics on the walls. Our waitress was also very nice and knowledgeable , we actually all got chicken sandwiches kinda...3 chicken fried and 1 chicken breast..back to those shortly... We started off with a 50/50 which was half fried shrooms and fried pickles and we LOVED it !! Crispy breaded perfection!! This is one of those retro diners with famous people pictures on the walls and 50s music playing. I didn't realize this was a chain until we were seated at our table. The waitress was nice and took our drink orders right away. When she came back for our lunch order, she was fidgeting quite a bit. We weren't sure what was the issue. She also didn't refill our drinks until we flagged her down. The place was not busy either. I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich. My goodness it was huge! I cut it in half. That was the most remarkable party of the meal. It was served with a hamburger bun which was dwarfed by the meat. I've had better chicken fried steak at other places. I didn't expect much when I dropped in here with a group of teens. But I have to say, I had the BEST fish sandwich I have ever eaten in my life! Perfectly fried filet of catfish on a fantastic bun with tartar sauce, tomatoes and lettuce. The fried pickles and cheddar and bacon fries were delicious as well. Service was exceptionally friendly and fast. The diner was pretty full but everything was efficiently handled and we were checked back on often. Was just there 03/07/2020 at 11:00 a.m. for breakfast. Wasn't that busy. It took 20 minutes to get water to our table. We ordered and another party of 3 came in after us and got their order served to their table before we got up and left. It was eggs and bacon for my wife and I was having eggs and sausage. My family and I went here on the 4th of July, one of the only restaurants near us open, and we were told we could not eat there. There was 13 of us and the place was empty, maybe one table with 2 people were there but we were told we couldn't eat there because we would "take up too much space in the diner". It fits in with Guthrie's historic feel. The sign on the window lured me in with promises of a delicious ruben. It didn't have enough thousand island dressing. The fries where great, piping hot and crunchy. My husband had a chicken fried steak that was bigger than his hand. It looked delicious, but the execution was off--- a tiny hamburger bun just isn't enough. The waitress charged us for sodas when we ordered water. They talked us into bottled water citing a Guthrie water problem, but I didn't see any diners take them up on that offer. I guess we were the suckers there.
