The sausage and brisket is great! Ribs were kind of dry, but the molasses bbq sauce saved it. Overall would eat here again.

Had this for lunch yesterday- really good food and great prices! I ordered the lunch special - got a pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and cheese. The pork was overflowing out of my sandwich- and HUGE portion! The macaroni and cheese was so creamy and delicious! They had many options for bbq sauce- honey, hot, vinegar, and molasses. Food is good, place is dirty. Plastic Table clothes feel oily and not sanitized. They have been wiped down, but they feel like they've been wiped down with dirty water. Floor is dirty. Food was ready pretty quick. We ordered 2 Ham Sandwiches with Okra and a quart of slaw . Still good when we got home. First let's talk ham..... Ham was good , fried, on a bun. Sad to say 2 of the thinest slices. We felt like it was all bun we were eating. Just one more slice might make a Hugh difference! Now. okra..... Oh so crisp, oh so good! Now Slaw..... Different than our normal sweet slaw. When I looked at it, I thought pure vinager and no way. Then I took a bite and then another. Yes, I decided I liked it! Now on reviews, they say the chicken is the thing to get but I read you still don't get alot. So, if your in area.... Of course Yes eat there. Maybe you can pay extra for enough ham to taste. Whenever I get hungry on a road trip, I open Yelp, and try to find a local spot, usually in the middle of nowhere or in a small town. This has resulted in some epic dining experiences, but also some huge disappointments. This place managed to cover both ends of this spectrum at once... a rare feat. This is a true hole in the wall. During our visit, it featured locals debating whether gastric issues were the result of food allergies or tick-borne illness. While some parts of our experience were wonderful, other parts left much to be desired: The good: My oldest daughter's burger looked fantastic, and she said it was really good. The potato salad was creamy and terrific, and the green beans were good too. I liked the fact that you had multiple sausage types to choose from, instead of just one. The service was great. Both employees we dealt with were pleasant, and the lady working the register even gave me a free refill for the road. The OK: My sausage was decent. So were my youngest daughter's chicken strips. The fries were acceptable. The train decor doesn't really suit this place, but it was quaint and interesting. The bad: The place was trashed when we came in. I can forgive having dirty dishes piled on some tables, since they apparently had just finished a rush. What I can't forgive is the sticky floors and nasty bathroom, which featured an open trashcan next to the toilet, filled with toilet paper strips covered in unappetizing skidmarks. The ribs were the worst I have ever paid for. They were dry as a bone, tough, and almost completely lacking in seasoning. The Texas toast was also a disappointment... butter both sides, y'all! When we went to the front to pay, I saw a a local news article declaring their fried chicken to be the best the author ever had. I wish I had seen that article before I ordered. I likely would have had a much better experience. I would come here again, but I would definitely steer clear of the BBQ, and just go with a burger or fried chicken, plus some of their side items. I understand that BBQ snobs from Austin aren't this place's target audience, and in the end, this review won't make a difference. Best chicken we have had in OKC so far. Fried mushrooms were a hit for our bunch, everybody loved them. Potato wedges were on point, highly recommended. We liked the okra but it could have used a bit more crispness for our liking but we will definitely order it again. We already had a few chicken spots we thought were great but this is the only five star we found as of today. If you're looking for a greasy run down bbq shack this is your place. The okra is not over done and very good. The meat can be dry at times but their brisket is pretty good and so are their hamburgers. I would recommend to try at least once. Well, thanks to the pandemic, we decided to give this place another shot since they're local. We started with a small order of brisket to see if it was better than last time. To our surprise, it was actually really good! I finally knew why everyone liked the place! Feeling confident, the next day we ordered 6lb total, 3 sliced, and 3 chopped. That was a big mistake. The sliced brisket was chewy like bubblegum and barely edible literally because it couldn't be chewed. Most importantly to us however is that chewy brisket means it is SEVERELY undercooked. There were huge plugs of fat with round, marble sized blood clots all throughout it as well, so our 3lb quickly turned into 1.5 after we trimmed it all and cooked it more thoroughly ourselves. The chopped brisket was tough and I'm assuming the day before leftovers, but at least it was cooked. Their sauce is good at least, we definitely needed it to drown their meat in it! I can only assume they're using subpar quality meats and are not closely watching their times and temps with smoking. This place would be so good if they would just get it together! We said it before, but this time we will NOT be back again. read more

So, I have waited a little while to discuss the terrible treatment we as a riding group received at Railhead BBQ. We called 2 weeks before the event and a few days before the event to verify they could handle a large group. We were told positively we can handle the event. We get there and people start pouring in and strangely enough, we were told by the Manager(self appointed)/owner (I doubt that) that we require to much attention... well, a few of our group left after 2 HOURS and no food, so that being said, they were my go to BBQ now they are just a place I used to go... We went tonight on recommendations from friends and other reviews. We were the only people in the restaurant! The sides (okra, corn and potato salad) were really good. The sliced brisket tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave having been smoked a few days earlier. The ribs were exactly the same. It would be hard for a pit master to guess how much meat to smoke when you're really slow on patrons. The meat was so incredibly dry and rubbery it was tough to eat. If you go, find out if the meat was smoked the same day! Clearly we missed the sweet spot. read more

We had heard good vibes about this place and wanted to try it. We just had an order for 2 takeout dinners. Ordered 2 meats with 2 sides. The brisket and ribs had so much fat on them, barely any meat. Not only did they leave out of our order 2 sides, the cashier overcharged us. My husband pointed that out and the cashier had to re do the check and not too friendly. We live in east Edmond and we eat Railhead at least once a week. They have such great BBQ for our area. I usually choose the smoked turkey and my husband LOVES their ribs. We've had the sliced brisket and the chopped, and those are great too. They have a dozen different sauces to choose from. Our favorites are the sweet and the hot hot. I also can't say enough good things about their Mac and cheese. WOW, it's so delicious, it must be made in house. The desserts aren't my favorite because I prefer more fruit in my cobbler, but that's not a deal breaker. We will continue to eat at Railhead regularly! We love the food and the staff there! read more
