We took our son in law to this restaurant in downtown Edmond. The moment we walked in, the hostess greeted us warmly and sat us immediately. Gage, our waiter was very professional and helpful. He guided us through the menu and helped us make good choices. We started with three mule cocktails. We had the Oaxacan, the Moscow and Kentucky Mules. Everyone enjoyed the cocktails. One thing that stood out to me for my Oaxacan Mule is that the Mezcal's smoky flavor really shown through and it was not overly sweet. A very clean cocktail, which I highly appreciate! We ordered the Chef's Salad Wrap with Onion Rings, French Dip with the tomato soup, and the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with seasonal side of grits. I enjoyed the Chef's Salad Wrap but I would probably be a little more bold next time and get the Cortez or the Reuben. I craved a lighter choice and was more sinful with the over the top delicious onion rings! Wowowow! Hubby enjoyed his soup and French dip and son enjoy his Philly cheesesteak and grits. I've gone to mule plenty of times and it's always a fave. They are consistent in both food and service. I never have a complaint other than their long waits. This is my first time seeing and trying their brunch menu. They have great brunch options and the brunch bowl I got was great. The bowl with loaded with queso and potatoes. Vibe is still just as cool. Totally feels like a neighborhood bar. True story.... I sat at the bar because I was dining alone for a late lunch. Our second go around here. The scenery here pretty much suits a cafe with a bar, tvs and decent music. Service was good, somewhat complacent but friendly and prompt when they need to be. Stopped by The Mule and had such a good experience. The service was amazing. I didn't catch our server's name, but she had short brown hair, glasses, and tattoos and was so kind and accommodating. I'm on a strict protein regimen right now and even though it's not a menu item, they had no problem making me a simple chicken breast by itself. That meant a lot. We love The Mule. It's usually crowded so that is a great sign. My wife and I generally have lunch here 3-4 times a month. We have done dinner here too if it's not too crowded. Great sandwiches and super salads. My only criticism is that the onion rings are greasy and so are the tots. read more

Top-notch, must-visit spot in OKC. While on a business trip, I visited the Edmond location on the recommendation of a coworker. The "Sandies" (sandwiches) menu is not super huge but you WILL have a hard time picking because everything sounds amazing. I opted to go with the Fancy Pants, which consisted of roasted chicken thighs, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, pears, basil pesto, and balsamic reduction--delicious! For my side I had the black bean soup, which was super flavorful and had a kick to it. The only downside is there were no beans in it; just the soup/broth. Three of my coworkers had the Macaroni Pony, which they all loved but admitted was too much food. If go with that sandwich, consider only eating half, otherwise you're going to be in a food coma afterwards. Staff was friendly. We didn't have a reservation, so we sat at the bar without issue. Both of my experiences here amount to just okay. Okie poutine is pretty good. Worth trying once but not something I would seek out. Flavorful cheese curds. Gravy isn't super strong or heavy which works in its favor. Fried cheese curds were pretty gross. Greasier than state fair food, many of the fried balls didn't actually even have cheese. The grilled cheese appetizer was pretty disappointing (literally 2 pieces of white bread and maybe 2 pieces of American cheese). Tomato soup was actually really good. I'd recommend trying that if you go. CBLT was good but wasn't really anything special. First time I went, I had a great time sitting at the bar. The bartender was nice and willing to chat or leave me alone so shoutout to him. Was pretty much always available if I needed something. The vibe was great, esp with the decorations behind the bar. Second time I sat outside and service was poor. The girl who was waiting on my table seemed to be teaching a new waitress so that could affect things, but she did not involve the newer waitress at all and was pretty rude when speaking to us. We waited for a while after eating for the check and a box. We also asked about happy hour prices and ordered drinks and apps. We were surprised by how big the appetizers were, but at the end realized that she gave us the happy hour drinks but two full size appetizers. Then she explained to us that happy hour appetizers are smaller and she couldn't take them off the bill, even though that is what we tried to order in the first place. It was a busy night, and our server was barely around, though she was polite and did apologize. Thankfully, we only ordered water and took our time sipping. The biggest issue was the food itself. Our meals arrived cold, which wasn't the server's fault, but the kitchen should know better. On a positive note, I did appreciate the alternative menu options, such as gluten-free and wrap alternatives. Unfortunately, the food was subpar and not worth a return visit. Can't rave enough about the Mule's salads. It doesn't matter what you get they always taste fresh off the farm. My favorite is the Cobb. No pic available bc I gobbled it up before I thought to take pic. Great specialty drinks and a variety of "mules;" hence the name. The Cosmic Disco was a very unique drink, all things Mediterranean. It was very tasty. The food was well seasoned with lots of fresh flavors. The beer battered cheese curds are a must try. The Mule Club was one of the best club sandwiches that I've had. Where do I begin? At face value The Mule is a restaurant with delicious sandwiches and a unique vibe that is bolstered up by being in downtown Edmond. However, there is more to the restaurant than the eye can see. What your eye can not see is your waiter/waitress. Unfortunately, from the time we were sat to the time we left was a grand total of over an hour. If this was a nice dinner with friends, family, or even my significant other I would not be mad at that at all. But this was lunch at a sandwich shop at the end of the day. Most, if not all, of their menu items are quick to assemble or easy to make. Why are my sandwich and fries coming out 30-40 minutes after I order? Why did it take 10 minutes for our waitress to see us after we were seated? Why am I watching multiple appetizer plates arrive at a table that arrived there 20 minutes after us? Why has my glass been empty of water for the last 30 minutes of our meal? It baffles me when servers and establishments are like this. Even if it was a one top you treat them like the rest of your tables, and maybe in the future they bring their friends then you have a 5 top that tips extremely well. All because you treated the lone customer like the rest of your tables, with importance. What makes it even more confusing is watching your server do everything but tend your table. She was cleaning, setting tables, and helping other servers while taking occasional water breaks. Like girl, you are not being paid to do busy work. You got a whole row of tables that need your attention. I also, being a former waiter, completely understand not wanting to be the bothersome server. There is a line you have to walk with being attentive and overbearing. With certain people that line can either be larger or thinner. For others, especially in the customer service departments, I will make an ample amount of excuses for the employees just because I understand. Faking a smile is hard sometimes, but it is what pays the bills. Will I ever eat here again? Probably. They have amazing sandwiches and sides. Will it be a dine in experience next time?
