Decided to check this place out for a date night after seeing all the awesome reviews on here. Boy we're we not disappointed not one bit. You walk into an old house not knowing what to expect and your immediately taken into a place where you feel like you should hear soccer fans yelling for there favorite team at the top of their lungs. I'm gonna go on the record right off the bat - The Patriarch is our hang. We're both 50 years old and my wife and I have going there for a few years now. It's the best place to just hang out in Edmond. I'm gonna break this down in categories and get a little wordy because, unlike most subjects, I have a strong opinion here. Atmosphere: They have several large picnic tables in the back yard. Some under the sky and many are under a large pergola. Small stage in the corner of the yard for the live music they have 3-6 nights per week. Also outside are three cornhole courts(?). Not being much of an athlete I don't play but if you're into sports the bean bags appear to be top notch. During the winter they have two large fire pits. Sitting around the fire is, in my opinion, the best experience at The Patriarch. It is never too cold for my wife and I to huddle around the fire in winter. If the weather keeps you indoors, the bar is in a century old two story house. There are a number of places to hang out in the house and enjoy the beer and food. Beer: They have around 45 rotating beers on tap at all times and the staff seems to know everything about every beer. They are happy to give free samples so that you know you'll enjoy your beer before you commit. The beers are numbered 1 thru 45 with the lower numbers indicating lighter beers and the higher numbers going with darker beers. My comfort zone is in the mid to upper twenties while my wife is solidly in the forties. Who knew? We've been to beer joints in other states and other countries and they do not compare to the selection and staff expertise at The Patriarch. Food: You order food inside and it is prepared in a building in the back yard. The food is fantastic! As a person who resists and fears change I settled on the fries years ago. They're sublime. So crispy and there are about five hundred of them in an order. I like mine with a side of ranch. But as an Oklahoman that should come as no surprise. We're loners so we like to get there when nobody else is around. On most evenings the place is full without feeling crowded. When the weather is awesome the place is packed and it's a full on party. Dogs: I'm a cat person and have never understood the attraction of dogs. We've considered bringing our cat, LaMarcus (see attached pic) but he's not wild about putting on a leash. Such a great spot in a beautiful old Victorian house with a wide selection of beers on tap as well as whiskies and mixed drinks. I'm an IPA fan and there is always a wide selection. There is also a good selection of Oklahoma brewed beers. The have a short, but diverse bar menu. It's never left me disappointed. If you're Irish or wish you were, a number of musicians show up Monday nights and fill the place with Irish folk music. If you are looking for a quieter spot to visit, the upstairs has a few rooms to drink and chill. Since we moved to Edmond in the middle of a pandemic, we haven't been out and about much. I'd never been to the Patriarch, and I really wanted to go, so the other day after our parent teacher conference, my husband and I stopped in for a beer, and I absolutely loved it. It felt like something you'd find in a little mountain town like Durango, not in the middle of downtown Edmond. It was a really cold day and everyone was bundled up, but it was nice and warm inside. I loved the creaky old house with all its character. I also loved the way the beer board is done: special attention is paid to the menu, and each beer is listed in its actual brand colors, font, etc. It's a small touch that probably takes lots of time to execute, and it makes a big difference. My husband and I both thought it really added to the charm. We will be back for food trucks, picnic tables, sunshine, games and more. I can see this being one of our favorite places to come in warmer weather months. They have so many options for beer, even though I don't drink much beer these days, I can see myself making an exception for this place. read more

Amazingly friendly staff! Greeted with a smile and offered free samples of any beer on tap to aid in decisions. Patio was relaxing and quiet. They had giant Jenga, a ping pong table, a tv that probably comes out for local games, a small corner stage for live music, a secondary building for a bar when busier and Cornhole galore. Friend got a sour beer, currently 18 on their list and enjoyed it. I got the saint mixed drink and it was sweet but sweet mixed with a grapefruit fruity after taste. Strong without tasting like it. Parking lot for after 6 pm right next to the building. Eclectic mix of younger and older, especially considering the proximity to UCO. Prices are steeper than most younger college students are used to so don't think this place will get too rowdy. Will definitely be back for a post dinner drink, again. read more

Almost every time I'm in Edmond I make a stop at the Patriarch. They have a huge selection of different beers on tap and if beer really isn't your thing they have some wine for you as well! The Patriarch is an old two story house that has been beautifully renovated and it also has been tastefully decorated. The there's the outside/backyard which has tons of seating and a food truck! Not sure if it's always the same truck or not but I believe it's always been an Irish food truck. Both times that I had it it was delicious. Yum! In conclusion, this is a bar, that's located in an old (but newly renovated) house, that has tons of different beers, lots of seating (both inside and out) and there's (usually) a food truck outside! Great selection of local beers, food in the rear area, plenty of tables outside, and plenty of seating inside! This place is in an old house, and it is very very cool! It's one of those places you can't wait to tell your friends about.  Inevitably, during the course of conversation while you and your pal(s) will be sipping on your brewskie (or waiting in line at one of the visiting food trucks)  and you will find yourselves plotting and planning your return visit--it happens to us all.  It's a really old house converted into your newest favorite bar. They have indoor and outdoor seating--it's not just a summer place, in case you were wondering. Yes, their backyard is the envy of the neighborhood, but don't miss out on The P. just because it's cold outside--they have indoor seating, too.  ---the cool--- It's a biergarten. A really cool, hip, casual, fun biergarten. If you are into craft beer or wanting to get your feet wet in the world of craft beer, the Patriarch should be your 1st stop in metro OKC. They serve about 50 taps of craft beer from all over the state and have taps from some of the hippest craft breweries in the country. Fear not friend, you will want-for-not when you step up to the bar to order, I promise. The folks who work the bar are so knowledgable, friendly, and patient. The great staff and huge beer selection are certainly two of the biggest reasons to keep coming back to The P.  ---the cooler--- I'd be remissed if I didn't share with you that The P. is a bar and they don't serve food. The cool thing is that they invite local food trucks to come and park out back. It's really convenient. It's a fun concept that, well, it just works. I've been there several times and had some really tasty food. Check The P.'s website calendar to know which of you favorite food trucks will be hanging out back when you are planning on heading over. They don't have food trucks every day, so plan accordingly.  ---the coolest--- I really LOVE their "backyard." When your out there it feels like you are at the coolest party on the block. They've got HUGE picnic table style seating. They've got ping pong tables, twinkle lights, and live music sometimes, too. The staff comes around and checks on how your doing. They can even bring you another drink, if that tickles your fancy. They've got some seating that is under a covered area so if it's too sunny or there's a chance for rain, they've got you covered ;).  ~~~ We all have at least one--opportunities for growth: I love the backyard area, but my only complaint is There needs to be some BIG A** oscillating fans. The darn flies can be too much to handle at times. If they had a few humongous fans that circulated the air it would cut down on the obnoxious fly issue I've experienced on hot days--more than once. And while we are on the wish list topic, it would be super cool if they added a bocce ball court. They have the room along the far back wall and I think it would be amazingly fun. We have them in a few outdoor biergartens in St. Louis. My friends and I have been known to pick a bar because they have a bocce ball court out back--don't judge. It's so much fun.  ---the bottom line--- The Patriarch is one of my favorite hangouts in OKC. If you like beer and food trucks my bet is that you'll love it too. In the heart of dreaded edmond. Why do so many people hate driving through edmond? The house is so old and very cool. The floor plan is interesting, and the area they keep the kegs is interesting, and makes me wonder if it is considered a two or three story house. Huge lot. Lots of seating with comfy couches inside the house, and there are board games and a string hook game upstairs with more seating. The beer selection is phenomenal and consistently rotating. The house bar has different taps than the backyard bar. All kinds of beers: ale, lager, stout, ipa, double ipa, porter, saison, dunkle, nitro pours, and they have a great description for all of the different types above the bar if you're starting to get into beers. The backyard is super cool and reminds me of a family reunion or a biergarten. The have live music often and by local artists, ping pong table, and a couple of bags/cornhole games. A food truck and hot dog stand are usually on the east side of the house, and every time I've been there has been a different food truck. They also serve some whisky and wine, but they have no mixers in the house, so don't expect a cocktail. You might be able to bring some cola in to mix your own if you dare. Great place. read more
