Came in for dinner with a reservation, and when we arrived at 8:45, we still had to wait about 10 extra minutes for a table to open up. The vibe is very dark and cozy, with dim lighting that honestly makes you feel like you're about to fall asleep . It also kind of reminded me of vampires, idk. But it was really cool because each table has curtains around it, so you get your own little private space. Our waitress was very nice and friendly, and she did a good job serving us. It did take a long time for the food to come out--about 40 minutes. The mushroom soup is apparently what they're known for, and our waitress swore it was the best soup she had ever tried. My mom ordered it and said it was really good, but not the best she's ever had. I tried some, and it was way too salty for me, so I couldn't eat anymore. My brother got the chicken tenders, which were perfectly crispy. He's a picky eater and ate all of them, so that definitely says something! I got the Caesar salad, and for me, it was a 5/10. It could've had more dressing, and considering it took about 40 minutes to come out, I expected a little more. Nothing too special. My mom got the ribeye, which was pretty expensive, and it came with carrots and mashed potatoes. She really liked the ribeye, and it was cooked perfectly medium-rare. The carrots were very sweet, which I liked to an extent. The mashed potatoes weren't really my thing because I prefer them creamier and with less pepper. Since it was my parents' anniversary, they brought out cups of whipped cream and fruit, which was a nice touch! Also, if you ask, you can get complimentary bread. For some reason, they don't bring it out automatically, which I thought was a little weird. Lunch at Paseo Grill before enjoying the Paseo Arts Festival. Beautiful weather promted a request for a table on the patio. We were lucky and got the last table, a high top next to the rail for ecxellent people watching while we enjoyed lunch. To start, I ordered a Guinness Stout. Unfortunately they do not beer on draft, just bottles. Jan ordered a Momosa. We ordered fried green beans. They were excellent. We each ordered a sandwich. I chose the Club, Jan chose the Ruben. They were both excellent. The sandwichs came with potato chips. The menu states the sandwichs come with Paseo Fries. We didn't discuss fries, and when the sandwichs came we were OK with the chips. As I was reviewing and deleting photos I accidently deleted both photos of the Ruben. In addition to being delectable, the presentation was impressive. The prices are $$$. read more

Started with the cream of mushroom soup. Super creamy and buttery, definitely on the heavier side. I'm glad it was a small portion because any more would've been too much. Tons of mushrooms though, which I liked. For dinner I got the chicken saltimbocca. The chicken was a little dry and came out extremely hot, almost like it had just been reheated, but it still tasted good. The sauce was really savory and kind of carried the dish. Glazed carrots were solid. Mashed potatoes were a bit lukewarm but still decent. Overall good flavor, just a few misses on texture and temperature. I sat by the bar, service was excellent, very attentive waiters. The private curtained booths provide an intimate dining experience and also help with the noise if you have hearing impaired guests (which we do). The service was spot on and we wanted for nothing during the entire evening. Although we've been coming here for over a decade we'd never tried the Cheese and Fruit Platter. It was a great choice for those of us who are watching calories. We also ordered the Fried Green Beans to satisfy the non-dieters of the group. Both are certainly delicious and good choices. Several people in our group ordered the Southwest Meatloaf which is always good. Another choice was the Chicken Saltimbocca which is my go-to favorite. My husband ordered the Grilled Atlantic Salmon which was cooked to perfection and beautifully plated. I decided to try a feature of Wagyu Skirt Steak with asparagus and a potato cake. Unfortunately the steak was inedible. It was fat and gristle and tough. I searched the whole serving looking for something I could eat. I gave my husband a piece and he ended up spitting into his napkin. The topping was nice but too salty. I was disappointed that a featured item was this bad. I was surprised that our server took my plate and didn't notice that the star of the dish, the meat, was uneaten. My advice is to stick to the regular menu items as they are time tested and won't disappoint. read more

This place is great for a fancy night without being too fancy. Service was attentive without being bothersome. My water never ran out! Curtains intimately surround every table. For their special they had wagyu steak and of course that's what I got. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium center. We read on Yelp that they are famous for their mushroom soup. I thought, " how good could that soup be?" But decided to try it because I love mushrooms. That soup is the best mushroom soup I've ever had. It was creamy and had so much flavor. There were a couple big chunks of mushrooms in the bowl. I would get that again! The sides I chose for my main dish were the mashed potatoes and fried green beans. Both were great. The green beans tasted fresh and had a nice crunchy coating on them and came with a dipping sauce. You can tell everything is freshly made. The potatoes were creamy yet there were some chunks of potatoes in there. We got a small dessert cup for our anniversary that contained fruit and whipped cream. That was refreshing, but of course we had to get a caramel cheesecake. That was the best I've had. You could tell they made the it all homemade. The caramel tasted rich and it wasn't the caramel you get from a jar at the store. I'd recommend everything I ate! I don't eat fish or seafood, so I can't say what those dishes taste like. Love the place, my second visit. Service was much better last time, but they were much busier this time. I substituted the carrots for cucumber salad. My wife and I visited Paseo Grill during the art walk. Really a beautiful restaurant in a wonderful location. On entering, we were whisked away to a moody, intimate table. Our waiter was responsive and friendly. We were greeted near the end of our meal with curtesy small fruit deserts. Our drinks were speedy and tasty, and our spinach dip appetizer was totally adequate. But the food was just not good. I had the duck breast, and my wife had the sea food of the day - some type of salmon. Both of the dishes did not taste good, entrees nor sides. The salmon was criminally overcooked, and the duck tasted foul (no pun intended). Great atmosphere, location, and service, but the food was not worth eating, especially at the price point. The booths had a sheer curtain which gave you the feeling of a private dining experience. It was unique and very lovely. We were seated promptly and well taken care of throughout our visit. Our waitress made sure we had everything we needed, including a cute glass of fruit and cream to celebrate our special day. We started with the lobster and crab cake, which was a nice size for two to share. I had the mushroom soup, which was creamy and delicious. My husband started with a Caesar salad and opted for the club sandwich for his lunch. The chicken pot pie is a signature dish for Paseo Grill, so I had my heart set on ordering that. The menu states it is limited availability, so I was disappointed when our waitress said they were out of it. But, they ended up making a few more, so I was excited to try it. It came out piping hot in a cast iron skillet. The crust was nothing less than perfection, so so good!
