Dinner with friends Wednesday night at Michaels. I find it hard to believe that their average rating is not higher. I have never had a bad meal or experience at Michaels. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. My only fault with the menu is they don't offer eggplant parmsean, my favorite Italian dish. They have a nice wine list and I love the bar. We started with a dozen grilled shrimp. They were very good. We also ordered humus with pita chips, also very good. Three of us ordered ceasar salads, one ordered potato leak soup. The Ceasars were good but a little strong on the garlic. The soup was excellent. Our mains consisted of Lobster Mac, Veal Paccatta, Lasagna,and Beef Stroganoff. I loved my Lobster Mac. My wife enjoyed her Veal, the Lasagna and Beef Stroganoff were excellent. To finish we shared a cream burlee. The service and our server were excellent. Been to Michaels about 5 or 6 times since it changed hands. I think I am finished going here after having been a customer for over 20 years. The quality of the food has definitely changed for the worse. Service is still relatively good but not as efficient or friendly as before. The bar drinks are still top notch. But the food has become mediocre and the atmosphere much less appealing. The prices for food and drink are at the absolute top for OKC prime spots. The food here no longer justifies the price. Overall the meal was good. The crab cakes were excellent and the steak was tender. Service was good. Restaurant is dark, nicer than expected for a strip mall for sure. Would be good for a date night but is a little higher priced than expected and not quite on par with Ranch or Mahogany. Michael's has always been a special place, but with no Michael there is 0 personality and hospitality is lacking. Maitre D was unapologetic about seating us where the tv didn't work, even though we asked to sit where we could see the NBA finals 45 minutes before it started. Server never smiled and barely spoke. Food was good but at this high price point, it needs to be the whole package. Won't be back. Other places with great food and more hospitable. read more

Michaels was pretty expensive (over $200 for 2 people) but worth IT! The service was fast, but a little slow to get our check. There wasn't much parking by the restaurant, so we had to walk a little bit. We walked in with no reservation around 6:30 and were seated right away. The Chicken Piccata was really good and our favorite dish. The Chicken Parm was good, but not worth $45. The dessert was of course the best part - we got the Chocolate Gateau and Apple Pie Ala Mode. I had the filet and grilled shrimp which was phenomenal. And that whiskey ice cream (or whatever it is) was absolutely delicious. It came with a plastic spoon which I was questioning, but the waiter said they switched because too many people got regular spoons frozen to their tongues. The quality of the food was very good. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions. Price point is $$$$. Wine pricing was considerably higher than other equally nice restaurants that we go too. It was busy the night we were there so the service was a little slow. Noise level was very nice. We barely made it in the door with two other friends of ours. We both have two young kids under 4 years old and we were very excited for a night away. Which does not happen very often for either of us. Apparently we were TOO excited to be away. We got kicked out before we even ordered drinks. The owner Steven Higgins very rudely told us that we had been "86d" and that we should stumble away even though we had one drink before we got there. The couple that was sitting next to us was also shocked that we had been very rudely kicked out and had no idea what was going on. We had no idea what was happening and had to last minute make other plans for our parents night out. Do not go here. I am writing this review from The Ranch down the street who are way more accommodating than Michael's Grill down the street. Finally visited here a few months ago after always telling ourselves we need to branch out and try here. Love the layout and atmosphere here! Great drinks that are strong the bartender is definitely not shy which who doesn't love that? The steak doesn't even compare to the ranch not as tender or juicy but it was decent. This place is one of the top restaurants in Oklahoma if not this region. One of the comments you'll often hear is that whatever dish is being spoken of it is routinely described as " the best I've ever had and I've eaten all over the world" The original Caesar Salad in America seriously. The dishes are all great proportions. Very nice wine list and since this is actually a "steak review" I will say that Michael's Strip is mouth watering , so flavorful and very popular. We absolutely love this place. This was our second time there in a month and half and we are going again. So basically 3 times in 2 months. My husband had the lamb chops the first time and he was hooked. The next time he had the scallops and was even more hooked. The Caesar salad is delicious and the grilled shrimp appetizer is a must. I cannot believe this place doesn't have 5 stars. My parents are regulars and I beg to go every time I'm in town. Michael and his wife are the absolute best. I met friends here for a birthday dinner. Very unassuming location but I was greeted and shown to the table with my friends as soon as I came in. The menu is huge and very varied. Our server Michael came and took our drink order. My drink was GOOD. I'm always suspicious when I'm served alcohol in a tall glass because I feel like it's gonna be watered down. That was not the case here. My drink was strong and my friends got the same on the second round. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered the soup of the day (shrimp and lobster bisque), a Caesar salad and Brussel sprouts. The birthday girl ordered a house salad and my bestie had a Caesar as well. All were delicious and I definitely appreciated the veggies on the house salad. We ordered crème brûlée and apple pie alamode and both were delicious. My Brussel sprouts were the best. I want them again. The soup was ok. My friend had the chicken parmigiana and said it was good but could have been better and the birthday girl had the lobster mac and cheese. She said it was ok. Our server Michael was prompt. Checked in on us and our food was served in an appropriate amount of time. I'll definitely be back to try the lasagna. My wife and I were really excited to eat here. We had heard really good things and made plans to eat at Michael's on a Friday night with friends. We came early for a drink and it was nice at the bar. The service and table were very good. It was nice ambiance for a date night. Where it really fell short was the food both from a gluten-free and taste perspective. They had gluten-free noodles but couldn't make any of the pasta dishes gluten-free which didn't make a whole lot of sense. I ordered a filet instead and it really wasn't very good. The presentation was very nice but the steak had char marks and tasted like it was directly on the charcoals itself. My wife had the rack of lamb and said gluten-free so I could have some of hers. She said the lamb was good but felt like they left the glaze off because we said it was gluten-free and was lacking some flavor/texture side. We finished with the creme brûlée, and we couldn't have been more disappointed. It looked nice when it came out but the texture and flavor of the crème brulee was off. It felt curdled and 3 of us only ate half then just passed on the rest. We were disappointed overall. It is a very pricey restaurant which is ok if the food makes it all worth it, but unfortunately it was nice. We won't be back and beware if you are gluten-free, they haven't thought through the menu as well and they could have. read more

This was our first visit to Michael's and we rather enjoyed it. It's DEFINITELY a Nichols Hills crowd. The space is intimate and cozy, and the bar was very active! Lovely menu, and the items we ordered were quite tasty. I had coconut-crusted halibut - delicious! My husband had shrimp sumbuca, which he also enjoyed. Our waiter was somewhat assuming, but he did provide good service. I always say a good tell of the quality of the bar/bartender is how an Old Fashioned is presented and how it tastes. This was below mediocre. It should always be served over a single, large ice cube, not crushed, which is what I received. And it was served with a bright red maraschino cherry rather than a luxardo cherry! Always a tell. It looked like it belonged atop an ice cream sundae. It's totally acceptable to have mediocre bar service at restaurants like Chili's, but one of the caliber of Michael's - I expected better quality. All in all, we will return to Michael's for another delicious dinner. I have very low expectations from the bar, and will likely stick to wine. read more

I ended up going with the KC Strip and my wife had the Filet. Again perfect. We rounded out the night with Crem Brûlée and coffee. Called to find out more information about booking for a big party. Online it says their secluded room holds 20 people. I talked to the owner directly who was rude and condescending lecturing me on how a big party must be held accountable if the whole party does not show (which is understandable) however not giving me any useful information and basically sounding annoyed for if we chose his restaurant to give our money to. I will not be trying this place after all for my 29th birthday lol. When you first walk in it feels like a night club - it takes a good minute for your eyes to adjust to the darkness. The food is average overall although they do have a few dishes that are amazing (Caesar salad and a few mains). The shells Diablo are definitely disappointing unless your accustomed to average pasta. Wasn't blown away as I thought I would be by the place. Now, the last 2 times i attempted to get food from here, I tried to call in a to-go order one time and the second I actually went inside and asked to sit at the bar and order to-go. Both times I was told they were "too busy to take to-go orders". Let me tell you... this second time, I went in 5 minutes after they opened for dinner! How are you too busy for a to-go order!?
