Meat locker with Mac n cheese, potato salad, tatertot casserole
    Madelynn G.

I truly did not think the food was worth the wait in line. We waited for about 2 hours and nothing really stood out to me except for the brisket.

Brisket dinner w apple pie baked beans and tater tot casserole

The brisket is tender but has no flavor. The bbq sauce is just ok. They don't start serving dinner until 5:00. It's way too hot inside. They won't let you sit at a table until you get your food. The sausage casing is way too hard. Corn on the cob has a weird flavor. The nachos were ok and the white queso on them was good. We were all unimpressed. The food was edible but just meh. Much better bbq places elsewhere. It's also on the expensive side.

    Platter of so many options!

The butcher stand has a robust history starting out as a small food truck sized stand and expanding to a sit down restaurant with a gift shop. You have to arrive early because they get a line and sell out quickly. My favorite was the burnt ends (fatty brisket, no sauce) and the Mac and cheese. We got the platter to try a bit of everything including sausage, chicken, turkey, and pulled pork. The sauces and sweet tea are fire, of course. They have limited hours, so get here early and prepare to feast!

It lives up to the hype. It's just classic no frills bbq of the highest quality. Sure it's a drive, sure it's a line, sure they run out of certain food within a couple hours but it's WORTH IT. We got there at 9 but truth be told most people didn't start rollin in until 10 to wait in line. They don't open until 11. We got a double of the meat locker to feed us and we had left overs. I mean look at that meat spread. Everything was delicious but the ribs were especially good!

Best BBQ!! We decided to take a Sunday drive to Wellston to try Butchers BBQ and it was definitely worth it! We did have to wait in line about 25 minutes on a Sunday at 1230, which was not bad! We got the ribs, pulled pork/brisket sandwich, tater tot casserole, beans, and potato salad. We tried a cocktail at the nostalgic 80's bar, and they make a great Old Fashioned cocktail.

We drove out here on Labor Day. It did not dawn on me to check as see if they were open. I just assumed but they are only open Fri-Sun and closed the rest of the week. Butchers is a BBQ staple and the owners have been featured on of the top bbq competition shows. Looks like a huge place with online ordering pickup on one end and the main building on the other. There was a huge fenced in area tht would be outdoor seating. Route 66 is under heavy construction and the signs say road closed but you can still get to the restaurant. The road is closed just after tht but pay attn as it is a little tricky.

Half slab and smoked sausage link

Every so often you have a meal where it truly feels like a privilege to have eaten it. This is one of those times. Having heard about this place over the years I've been meaning to try it, but since they're only open three days a week it made it a little more challenging. Since I had the day off on a Friday, I decided to drive out to Wellston to check it out and I'm so happy I did. It was quite the experience and definitely worth the drive. I had a half slab of ribs as well as a smoked sausage link. The sausage was excellent, but what really made the meal was their ribs. The honey rub that they had on there is some of the best I've ever had anywhere in the United States. This was one of those times where when I finished my meal I was genuinely sad because I wanted more. The people who work here are so friendly and make you feel like you're at a close relatives from back in the day when life was simpler. I can't recommend this place enough. Please drive out to Wellston and check them out!

These boys can bbq. My favorite is the turkey and burnt ends. The Mac a cheese and corn is a staple of the sides I choose. You honestly cannot go wrong. Service is wonderful and so is all the interior improvements made over the years.

2 meats with pulled pork, burned ends, Mac and cheese, and beans

First, I want to mention there is construction off the turnpike so we ended up having to drive around the construction on a gravel road, which added an extreme amount of time just to get there. We had our dog so we needed to seat ourselves outside. It seemed peaceful until we picked up our food. Once our food was there, the experience went to miserable quickly. The bees were absolutely swarming. We grabbed to go boxes and left. Maybe some of the food would have been better fresh but we now had to drive it home. The food was decent but I don't understand the $50 price tag. The best item was the beans. 2nd best was the burnt ends. Chicken was average. Pork was greasy. Mac and cheese was okay. We could not eat the potato salad. It had a strange flavoring that neither of us cared for. In our opinion not worth the drive or price.

Customer service was very nice. I called to place an order and the gentleman helping me was very patient and knowledgeable. The ambiance was pretty cool. Nice decor in the restaurant. We ordered the meat locker. The food was really good too. The ribs had a great smoke taste and were very tender. Everything had good flavor. I like the jalapeño and cheddar sausage. Chopped brisket , sliced turkey was very flavorful too. I mean everything was good. The sides were okay which was apple pie baked beans, mac and cheese, and the corn. I wish they gave a bigger portion of sides considering it's like a family pack being ordered . I'm glad I finally got to experience this place.

Barbecue was good in fact delicious. The inside was cool and very country like. The people there are nice helping kind and funny. They give you a fake name to call out, mine was cleopatra lol. However it is rather expensive for two people it was $30 but I think it makes up for the food

How early should I arrive on Sunday? Is beer served on Sunday?

If you arrive at 10:30am, you should be in good shape unless you want to be the first in line. As far as I know, they serve beer as well.

If you're hungry this is your place, promise it will not disappoint! The staff is beyond amazing, very welcoming and friendly. Provided good recommendations and always checked on us. The wife had the rib dinner, super delicious and flavorful. It comes with choice of sides, the potato salad was mustard based, not over powerful, just right. Okra crisp and hot. I had the 2 meat combo dinner; smoked slice chicken and brisket. The sliced chicken was moist, delicious and great tasting. The smoked sliced brisket, tender and my palate was jumping. Comes with choice of 2 sides which I had the country style green beans (loved them) and smoked BBQ beans which definitely kicked it all off. For dessert we had the blackberry cobbler with ice cream. During a morning meeting today, my coworker stated that there is no good bbq in OKC. . . I had to prove him wrong. Arriving 30 min after opening, the line was packed. Hunger and anticipation was building. Went full out and got the Texas Trinity Platter. Pound of brisket, pound of ribs, 2 sausages, 2 sides, 2 hungry stomaches. A beautiful red sheen of a slight glaze on the ribs with flecks of black pepper that I could look at all day honestly. A sweet glaze that I was definitely the best rib I've had this trip. Not overpowering and chew of smoke with each bite. Such a wonderful brisket too. Spots like these always make me double take if I'm not in Texas. A wonderful pitch black bark absorbs all the smoke. A little bit on the saltier side on the initial bite, but balanced once the beef fat started flowing from between the meats. When I dived up the leftovers, I took ALL the slices from the flat. Such a meaty and beefy flat that was still juicy. So much so that I wasnt sure if it was the brisket or my drool. Between bites, I couldn't get enough of those pickles. Wonderfully vinegary and refreshing. I forgot to try the pickled onions because the cucumbers were sooooo good. I loved the flavors of the cheddar jalapeño sausage and the hot gut. The was a little bit more of a bite on the casing but tasted amazing. I'm literally sitting in my hotel right now eating it while typing this.
