The pricing was more than fair and they delivered RIGHT ON TIME! The set up was seamless and stress free. The food was a massive hit. Every bit of brisket was eaten (not a single piece left). We only had a small amount of chicken remaining. The fried okra and mac and cheese were huge crowd pleasers. We also enjoyed the green beans and potato salad. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. So. The bearded fellow at the checkout is not friendly or personable, shakes his head when I was asking a question, etc.,seems very stressed. 2 stars for the cashier. The food seems to be very good and that OG sauce is on point though!!! Cool decor but the cashier left me with a sour and almost sour taste in my mouth. This is what true Southern Hospitality is! I came in with my 90+ grandmother so we were managing a walker, doors, and finding the restroom. Before we even got to the door the general manager, Lucas, held every door open for us (from front to the restroom!). We got a brisket sandwich and lunch special chicken sandwich which came quickly and hot! The okra was AMAZING. I wish I could eat that everyday. It was hot from the frier and perfect on the inside not hard or mushy. Another employee came and checks on us sharing about their house made sauces (made daily) giving us sauce suggestions. The ribs LOOKED good but had a thick crust that was a mix of sickly sweet molasses candy and an over abundance of Chinese five spice. I typically like the food here. I like the sauces and the barbecue. So I called from my house to get the butler potato to go. I live at 122nd and Douglas. The lady said they were slammed and she would get right back with me. I stayed on hold for 19 minutes and 34 seconds the whole time it took me to get from my house to the restaurant. I made my order then I told the fella that I was on hold for 19 minutes. He said that may have been some other restaurant you called !!! I said I looked it up on Google second Street in Edmond, called that number and the lady that answered the phone TexLahomaBbQ. She said they were slammed and she would get right back with me. Obviously, she never did. I would've thought I would've at least got a half of a baked potato or for free if not the whole meal. We decided to try Texlahoma as others consistently mention it as "best BBQ" when people ask for recs in the Edmond / OKC area. The daily specials menu brought us in - $6 for a pulled pork sandwich is a great throwback price, too. Overall we found the menu to be reasonably priced and we ended up getting a $6 sandwich to go for someone at home, and we tried several other items, pictured. I would definitely order the queso potato again. It looked simple but was bursting with flavor. The sliced brisket was extremely tender - notably more so than other BBQ joints. I liked the flavor of the baked beans, and we all agreed that the French fries were perfect. Service was helpful and enthusiastic. I prefer the counter ordering system they use here, but they did bring our food out, which I appreciate. The restaurant wasn't busy when we visited during the noon hour on a weekday, so I really hope they can gather enough business to stay open because the food was good. Everything was clean and there was a mix of tables and booths. The only downside was my husband wasn't a huge fan of the BBQ sauce, which had a sweet onion flavor. I liked it, though. He would've loved a spicier option without the onion. Another bonus is their meal specials are valid all day, not just at lunch time. So kids eat free all day on Mondays! We'll be back. read more

We used Texlahoma Barbecue for our son's rehearsal dinner & it was wonderful. Toni, the Catering Manager was awesome to work with, always friendly & professional and easy to contact. The buffet they set up was great & all of our guests commented on how good the food was. The staff they sent were cordial & friendly as well, and they cleaned up afterwards & even took the trash. Come in today around 12:00 and there was hardly anyone in the place. Should have clued in on that. Have eaten here before and food was very good. Ordered ribs and sliced brisket with some green beans. Received chopped cold brisket-tough ribs-terrible green beans and average fries. Portions were small which was fine because the food was the worst barbecue I've had in a long time. Place never got busy and there was no employee that appeared to have any interest in the customers. Ok. Let start by saying the staff was awesome!! Very nice and know how to treat customers. However, the food was less than satisfactory. Food temperature was fine, but the taste was just a different take on barbecue. The Turkey I had was ok, the smoked sausage was far below average, the ribs my wife had were just fair, and her sliced brisket was not the best. My fries were average. Her street corn had no flavor. The food has got to be the best bbq I have had in OKC! But what set this experience apart from any other restaurant has got to be the staff. We were welcomed with smiles as we walk in. When the staff found out it was our first time in, they were genuinely excited to tell us why they love their food and their recommendations were on point. You have to try the ribs, brisket and potato salad. The mvp was Kaleb and the culture he helped build here. UPDATE: I came back today to get some brisket. I ordered the 2 meat combo w/pulled pork, chopped brisket, street corn and potato salad. The food here is fucking delicious and easily in the running for my new favorite bbq spot . The street corn was full of flavor and very well done. I normally am picky with potato salad and I love their "mushy" potato salad. The pulled pork once again was very moist and juicy. The chopped brisket also, was very moist. Was in Edmond for business. Finished my job around noon and was about to head back to Tulsa when my hunger alarm went off. Saw this place and pulled. They offer drive through service but a bbq sandwich can be a little messy to eat in the car. So I went inside and ordered at the counter. Lots of Texicana adorns the walls giving a true Texas feel to the place. My sandwich was quite good with a side of beans and 3 sauces to choose from - hot, mild and sweet. First time here at the new location on 2nd street in Edmond. Used the drive thru to order. I got the ribs, fries, and street corn. My ribs were the end of the rack and pretty tough. I ate half of one rib and threw the rest away. The street corn was simply unseasoned canned corn with a little cilantro, I think. Totally tasteless. Canned corn??? Really?? Not cool. The fries were the best thing here. That's why I gave them 2 stars. They were crispy, flavorful, and not greasy and I loved them. All in all this place is pretty expensive for what you get. I ordered 2 small sides a large tea and a large ice water. My total came to 12.99 which I thought seemed a little high since I just ordered a couple of sides. I had to ask for my receipt and I noticed that they charged me $3.00 for the large ice water....that's a little steep in my opinion for ice water!!! Had takeout tonight from here. This was my first experience with texahoma. It had good and bad. Let's start with the basics. Both me and my wife got 2 meat plates which came at a nice price. They each came with 2 choices of meat and 2 sides, onions pickles and a piece of bread. On the sides I had Mac and cheese green beans, and I ordered one extra small order of corn salad. The corn salad was the best by far. The Mac and cheese was ok nothing really good. The green beans....I could care less. Neither me or my wife cared for them at all. So sides could use some attention for sure to make the place better. The meat however was pretty good and their mild sauce was excellent. Additionally, their mild sauce is sweet and tangy in just the right way that pairs well with the smokey and peppery brisket. Their sides are also pretty good, though I wish they'd toast the bread. The food i had tonight at the Waterloo location was terrible. The cook and servers were cocky about their food and service was less than average. My biggest complaint is that I paid $11.58 at the location on Second St. versus the $11.91 at the Waterloo location for the same meal. (I bought both meals within 1 hour) I would definitely visit this restaurant again and pay a premium for their food because of the customer service and quality! You see the name and you expect Texas BBQ but you get something else. The rubs taste like they have chili powder and cumin in them which is a sin for Texas BBQ. They would do so much better doing a salt and pepper rub. The rub they use takes away from the natural meat taste. You also get these tiny ribs. Not a fan of cutting off the tips. The brisket is better but nothing to write home about. I don't understand the hype but since so many love this place just keep doing what you do. If you're a Texas BBQ fan this is not the spot. So we're driving around looking for a new place to try and ran across Texlahoma BBQ. So glad we did!! I had the butler potato, and let me tell you.. this potato is a monster!! A bucket of queso.. Pulled pork, brisket, sliced sausage, and a freakin Rib!! Oh.. there's also a big baked potato in there somewhere, if you can get to it. My girlfriend had the pulled pork sandwich with street corn (street corn was Soo wonderful!) everything was really good! The house made bbq sauce was some of the best we've had in a while. I'm a true stan of the OG Texlahoma and was super stoked to know it was coming closer to the city, so stopping in was a must do! However, it seemed to be way more commercialized which really altered the flavor of the things I got! It wasn't bad, it just wasn't the same! It's worth the try though and I love how they have added so much more to the menu, so it's definitely lots of options for everyone! read more

Many places nowadays seems to be loud and you can barely think when youre eating, but Im pretty comfortable here eating with my kiddos. The brisket is ok the fattier side, cooked well, and is tender. The brisket is cooked well and is tender. Their meats arent overly smoked and I prefer BbQ like that. But if you prefer smoked flavors, this isnt your place, its more mild. Sides we got loaded baked potato (which is huge), mac and cheese, potato salad (mildly blended), and pasta salad. Next time, Ill try other sides and meats! read more

Went last night and had pulled pork nachos that were chips, cheese, pork and a dollop of sour cream. Why ask "do you want all the toppings" if you then leave off jalapeños and anything else? Also the pork was mushy - like it had been boiled vs smoked. Very weird and off putting texture. Our ravenous teenager left 3/4 of his. He'd have normally eaten everything AND the paper they were served on. Other person had a sandwich and was told - about 20 minutes after ordering - that they were out of buns. Took another 10 minutes to just bring out the meat and side by themselves. It was only 6:00 so assume they didn't get a delivery or didn't plan well. But should have known before we ordered that they were out (certainly low) on bread. $60 for four and left more than half our food on the trays. Just not a good night. read more

It's getting two stars instead of one simply because the okra was tasty. That this place is so highly revered is proof that most people crave mediocrity.
